Then had to pay an Uber $110 to make the drive to rental place from where I was broke down. Upon arriving at National I was told they made an error and didn't actually have a vehicle for me....AFTER speaking to her on the phone and AFTER receiving a confirmation. I even received a notification as I am standing at the counter asking me if I was ready to check in and pick up my vehicle!! All I got from the Rep was "sorry, I dont know what to tell you"....ended up having to get a hotel in town and have a friend drive 3 hrs the next day to come pick me up. (No other rentals available with other companies). I will NEVER use them again and DO NOT RECOMMEND. Absolute horrible customer service and reliability.

Oh Doris. I was just blessed by a lady named Doris. And suddenly I've found how wonderful her help can be. Oh Doris. Oh Doris. Oh Doris. Say it proudly and it feels like you're baying, Say it softly and it's almost like praying. Oh Dooooris! But seriously. Here's what happened. Car broke down between Washington state and California. We had to tow the car to a service center in Medford. Then we had to rent a car to continue our trip. Full car in the breakdown. We had nothing but our phones and our wallets walking in to the airport. In our time of need, we meet Doris at the counter who proceeded to help with great caring and superb human beingness. They are lucky to have her in Medford. We were lucky to have her. And you'll be lucky too. If you see her, tell her thank you for being such a great human. And that's my West Coast Story. I then contacted (after a very heated/one sided discussion) National Rent A Car and explained situation and what had just happened with Enterprise, They immediately booked me a vehicle and sent a confirmation for vehicle, Upon arrival at location (Medford Airport) they proceeded to tell me they too had no vehicles!!! This was after hearing situation and confirming they in fact had a vehicle for me (I received confirmation) and as I am standing there receive notification to pick up my vehicle to which I was told " Sorry, guess you're out of luck, there is nothing we can do." Needless to say I was beyond upset at this point and stranded with no vehicle. I ended up having to get another Uber to a hotel and arrange for a friend to drive down the next day ( 3 1/2 hr drive one way) to pick me up. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service and experience. They were very accommodating and help me with my luggage, it's one of the best experiences I've had with the car rental in many many years The car was brand new, clean, and with a couple scratches that it handled beautifully for what I needed. The desk agent did not adequately explain that the fee for adding an additional driver we were quoted was daily and not net, making it sound like our total extra charge would be much less than the large amount we ended up being billed (on top of what we already pre-paid).When I called the day of the rental because I was concerned about a very large charge on my credit card, the staff member was vague and dismissive, claiming it was just a deposit that would fall off, even though I had already paid in full. The invoice at that time had zero itemized breakdowns. We didn't receive an itemized receipt showing the actual charges until after we were charged, and I had to request it twice-only to find vague additional fees. Do Not Rent From this Hertz because you'll regret it! Update: I am even more upset now. I followed up with the location manager to get information on the final invoice-mainly why we were charged taxes, fees, and driver charges for 7 days when we only rented the car for 5 days. At first, the manager claimed we returned it late and had it for 6 days. When I provided proof that we returned it early, the response was that "6 days or 5 the rental is for 1 week and was pre-paid as so." That is definitely not the rental agreement I booked through the large third party I used to book my rental! Why would anyone agree to pay 7 days of charges for a 5-day rental? The agreement listed a rate per day with a weekly maximum, and the pricing was completely misrepresented. Avoid this place at all costs-we've used rental cars for years and never had this kind of horrible experience with any other company!

It had been in limbo pending for 14 days. Amd again they told me that I violent use my booking.com visa there ever again because their Ai system flagged it as prepaid. They never reached out to me to resolve this like I asked them to but simply said I could use a different card next time. I didn't want to wait around at the airport so I asked if they had any other vehicles and was told they had a sedan so I agreed to take that instead. When I went out to the parking lot, I realized this vehicle had extensive damage to the rear passenger side door, bumpers, and even had a cracked windshield. I went back inside to report the damage as well as to ask if there were any cars available I could have instead. Despite the parking lot being full of cars, I was told there were none available and they would just note the damage I was reporting. They also don't pay a lot of attention to detail when cleaning their cars in between renters. We later found empty chip wrappers and other trash under seats and inside the front arm rest/console. The only good part was that the cars are parked adjacent to the terminal building which is convenient when picking up or returning your vehicle.

However, I could wait in the lobby for 20 minutes for somebody to bring a truck for me to use (putting me behind my planned schedule, which is why I did a reservation). Being desperate, I stayed and waited only for a man to come up to me and tell me, "Sorry, we can't get the truck here." Three days later, at almost 2 in the morning, they tried to charge me $150. Luckily I have an awesome bank and they didn't let the charge go through due to suspicious activity. Will not be returning.
