This location is not reliable. I booked a standard SUV weeks in advance, however, when I arrived I was told there were non available and that I should wait at least 30 minutes before checking back to see if they had any ready. I didn't want to wait around at the airport so I asked if they had any other vehicles and was told they had a sedan so I agreed to take that instead. When I went out to the parking lot, I realized this vehicle had extensive damage to the rear passenger side door, bumpers, and even had a cracked windshield. I went back inside to report the damage as well as to ask if there were any cars available I could have instead. Despite the parking lot being full of cars, I was told there were none available and they would just note the damage I was reporting. They also don't pay a lot of attention to detail when cleaning their cars in between renters. We later found empty chip wrappers and other trash under seats and inside the front arm rest/console. The only good part was that the cars are parked adjacent to the terminal building which is convenient when picking up or returning your vehicle. read more

They stole $1600.00 from us. We picked up a black jeep compass on 10/17/25 and dropped it back off at Eugene, Oregon airport on 10/31/25. We parked the car in the designated area for Avis/Budget, we were told that we had to take the keys inside by the attendant. We walked in and handed the keys to the lady behind the counter, we asked for a receipt she said it would be emailed to us, we shouldn't have accepted that and demanded the receipt at that time. Two weeks later we received two additional charges that totaled close to $1600.00. We called and was told we didn't drop the car off till 11/11/25 and further review found it was a totally different reservation for a white chevy equinox, we explained to the guy in customer service that we didn't have that car and we dropped the jeep off on 10/31/25. He opened a dispute and we never heard, I called this past weekend and was speaking to another person, they did the same opened a dispute, we asked that this be taken care of within 24 hours. We did hear and was told they did nothing wrong and therefore no refund will be issued. We are now disputing this with the credit card company and that is going to take time. I know times are tough and $1600.00 is a lot of money to be taken from us on a reservation that wasn't even ours. We are not satisfied at all, we will never rent from Budget and we will never go through hotels.com to do the reservation. read more

We were a little nervous about this Budget. We could not get a direct line to call the office when we saw it would be closed when our Contour flight arrived at the Del Norte airport. We called the airport instead and they said someone would be there, and figuring it was a very small airport with just two Contour flights per day, we went for it. Sure enough, even though the office officially closes at 7:00pm, there was a representative there at the desk with all our paperwork and keys ready as we pulled in at about 7:10pm. Very quick and easy checkout. However, the car obviously had gotten missed in the check-in process: the key had the wrong license info, so finding it in the dark took a bit of time, the tank was only three quarters full, it had 51,000 miles on it, and it stank like smoke. We didn't realize how bad it was until driving away, exhausted and I started getting a headache from it. The next morning I returned to the office (at the back of the airport) and Susan was super nice and helpful. She apologized, and with the out-of-state car who knows what happened. Anyway, she changed it out in about 10 minutes with me for a convertible Camaro. What fun! The weather was actually dry and clear one day while there for us to take the top down (once we figured out how to put the trunk divider in correctly), blast the heat at about 80 and cruise the coast. We had a great time with this clean, nicely-smelling, gas-effiicent, stylish car. Returning it for the early morning flight was super easy. They are not open until after the flight leaves, but you just park it in the lot out front, and put the keys in the lockbox on the counter. I got a text later confirming the return. Easy peasy. Get a receipt! I was charged $3030.32 for a 'fuel charge' on a 3 day rental and then a 10% Concession Fee of $394.43 and over $340 in taxes on top of that! I returned the car with a full tank. The full rental quote was $395.30 and I ended up being charged $4887.82! I've called them TWICE and was told 'wow, I've never seen a charge like that before, this doesn't make any sense." I was told it would be credited to my account and I'm STILL waiting nearly a month later. Do I really have to call a third time while I pay the extra interest charges on my credit card? I have rented here ever since the Avis branch of their company moved off site. It is much more convenient for me using this airport to pick up and return the car by myself, than having to use the shuttle Avis now requires. The cars are essentially the same, as Budget and Avis are not only one company but it appears that the local management and fleet are shared here too. I have a preference for a certain type of car as I am very short and have trouble with visibility lines in many popular cars models. I am a regular customer here, renting several times a year. I have been pleased that all but once, they took note of my file request for a certain style vehicle and had one in good condition waiting for me when I arrived. Sometimes it may be hard to find as this is a small location and cars come and go quickly, being the only airport in the most southern part of OR. But I always reserve well in advance, for both the better price deal and to give them the opportunity to reserve a small car for me as they come in the day or two before, knowing I will need one. Someone else can have the upgrade as most will appreciate the option. I am just not the customer who appreciates an upgrade to certain type vehicles and when offered, especially a big sedan or SUV, I will find an alternative. I need to be safe and in good control and I am really short! The staff here has been helpful. read more

Absolutely do not rent from this company. They will give you a down graded car and say it is the size you reserved. I had to show them that even their website lists the car they gave me 2 car sizes below what I reserved. I was told repeatedly there was nothing they could do, even though they state that if the size car you reserve is unavailable they will upgrade at no charge. It took 2 days of calling both the 1-800 number and the airport directly before I was given a car the correct size, but I had to drive over an hour and pay for gas to exchange the car. I had to file multiple complaints via email and phone calls before a Customer Service person agreed they had down graded me and would offer a partial refund. The refund has still not processed after over a week and now no one is returning my phone calls or emails. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Got us back on the road after a bad Enterprise Rental experience. We had made a reservation for a standard SUV at the Enterprise Rental in Ashland, since we were staying there. They stiffed us without notification or apology. Offered us a small car (not the class we needed or reserved). We went to the Budget rental just offsite from Medford Airport. It was the new owners first day. He came over to meet and greet us despite it obviously being a very busy day. When he heard what we needed he pulled workers to turn over and clean a car that had just come in. Impressed - he really wanted to make customers happy, unlike Enterprise. Budget to the rescue!!! On the early morning of November 25th 2015 I encountered the best customer service from Budget located inside the Medford Airport. Upon arrival to my gate and just moments before my plane departure, I realized I had left my scarf and iphone earbuds inside the center console of my recently returned Budget rental. With only minutes to spare before my plane departure, I called the Budget Car counter inside the terminal. The Woman that I spoke to was very understanding and said She would go check the car for me. The car was parked very far away, slim to none chances of getting them back before my plane left..... 6 minutes flat!!!!! Rental from Budget there recently, please be aware they add additional things not originally booked, like in our case XM Radio and other things was billed....did not read their fine print, when I questioned why was my rate was different, I was told it's because I picked up the car 30 minutes earlier than booked, when I drop it back early, the rate will decrease. Sure enough dropped it back four hours early and the rates stayed the same . Desk agent at drop off location showed me all the additional things that were added in Medford. Called Medford, lady started saying she didn't rent the car it was someone else so she knows nothing about it, took my information for call backs....left messages for a call back...of course no one ever called back or seemed to care. I was going to be stuck with their bills because I signed the contract at the onset. So please... please check your contract, this location is not to be trusted, if your rates are different it's because they added additional things....it's dishonest and unfair....even after asked about the differences and being told incorrect things to have you just move on....and be on the hook later.....shame on the Budget team in Medford, we had an amazing experience there except for this dishonest move from the Budget counterperson in Medford OR. read more

If things work out, how bad can it be? Well, it could have been better but the rate was good and we like Budget's attitude about spouse drivers. Thanks to a gate snafu at the dysfunctional Medford Airport we arrived at the Budget counter two minutes before the Saturday closing time of 11 PM. We had tried repeatedly to call for reassurance while our plane was sitting on the tarmac, but no Budget number connected in a useful way. That the counter was only a few steps from baggage claim, and baggage claim was only a few steps from the arrival gate allowed us to get in under the wire. We were the only customers, but there is no reason to think that the agent would have left before we could get there. That Budget agent was stressed, complaining of a migraine, hence had not been answering the phone. The transaction was quick: Here are the keys, Don't need your card, Don't need the spouse driver info, Do you know where the rental cars are? Outside and to the left. Transaction done, agent was out of there. Turns out that Budget occupies the most remote spot in the rental lot, but the weather was good, the surroundings non-threatening, and our Toyota Corolla there at the end of the lot (black of course with late July heat coming). The car exterior and interior were in great shape, with about 30,000 miles on the vehicle. Car got us where we needed to go, and the air conditioning did the job, but the cruise was unreliable, and the transmission did lots of hunting in the mountains of southern Oregon and northern California. Don't know if this is a Corolla thing or if there was something faulty somewhere. There were two of us, so on return we could drop the bags at departure with one to watch while the other took the car back out to Budget's remote place in the rental lot. Return transaction at the Budget desk was about as abrupt as pickup, for the agent was preoccupied with a phone transaction. Have the mileage? Filled the tank? Drop the keys in the slot. Hey, no lines, no red tape and the walk from the lot in good weather again was good exercise before hours on the plane. Just for the record, the distance from lot to desk is about 1/4 mile, poor only in comparison with all the other companies or if you're travelling alone and the weather is bad. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET AND/OR AVIS IN MEDFORD, OREGON or MEDFORD AIRPORT!!! BAIT-AND-SWITCH SCAM OPERATION THAT WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED. My wife reserved a car two months earlier with Budget through her company's corporate benefits program for ten days. The total cost was about $550. Upon arriving in Medford around 2:30 PM on Sunday we were told that she reserved a car with the Budget office 1/2 mile away from the airport and that office closes at 12:00 PM on Sundays. She was told that she would have to come back tomorrow (we're staying 20 minutes away in Ashland) or that we could try to get a car from AVIS, which is owned by the same group as Budget. We were also told that this happens all of the time. People from out of state, not familiar with Medford, rent a car online from the Budget office located in town (not at the airport). (If this happens all of the time, then they should be better prepared for this situation or attempt to alleviate the confusion in the online reservation process.) They claimed that they didn't have any cars of the same class at the airport to rent. However, because she (the woman at the AVIS desk) is such a great person she would rent us a nicer car for a small up charge of $10 per day. After all of her weird behavior and high pressure sales tactics to sell us insurance, roadside assistance, gas, etc (which we declined)...the total bill was over $1200. Oh yeah, and like other reviewers, they said that we had to walk out to the car (5 minute walk), check to see if the gas was full and if it was clean enough before renting it to us. We declined, called Lyft to get to our hotel ($30), and then rented a car through National the next day for $700 for the remaining 9 days of our vacation. Clearly after reading others' reviews, this is a scam operation using misleading, unethical, high pressure sales tactics to upsell unsuspecting visitors. read more

Stay away from this place. I rent cars often, 30+ weeks a year for 4 years now. I came to Medford and for whatever reason my travel agent booked me with Budget, whatever a rental car is a rental car. Upon returning the car the guy behind the counter who was named Richard or we can call him Dick for short... Asked me for the exact mileage. I said I didn't know the exact mileage but I probably didn't go over 100 miles for the week. He says to me, "you are not going to get a receipt unless you walk out to the car and get the exact mileage" I asked him if he was serious, he held up a rental agreement and said "did you get one of these?" I said yes it is on the passenger seat in the car. He responds with "then you know the rules, unless you walk out and get me the exact mileage I will not give you your receipt" Now normally... no big deal but I am handicapped and the parking spot the car was in is a solid half a mile from the counter. I didn't even really care about a receipt, I just copy paste a part of the bank statement and turn it into the company for my expense... but this has gotten personal so I asked to talk to the manager, Dick says he is the only one there and no manager will be in for another hour, I asked for a number to the main office and he gave me a number and funny when I talked to the manager at the main office he responded with "we have had complaints about Richard in the past, no problem sir I will email you your receipt" Sounds good right? well think again, on my receipt I had a charge of $250.00. I called the main office and they said they have to file some report with the branch to find out what the charge was for. A few days later I called them back because they never called me back, spoke with about 3 different people saying they could not help me, to each I asked to speak with their manager, so I am speaking to some pretty high people I would assume by now... finally someone gets on the phone and tells me they had to pay to get the car cleaned because it had been smoked inside. I don't smoke, please take the charge off, I even explained the situation and runin with Dick and they said they had to side with the branch in this situation. Do not, I repeat do not rent from Budget at Medford, OR. My company picked up the tab because like I said I have been doing this for 4 years and I don't smoke and they know I don't smoke. I would bet any amount of money that Richard "Dick" does smoke and went and smoked in that car, ashed in it and then said it was me. They sent me pictures but I didn't see anything really... the lady on the phone who sent me the pictures said it looks like it's been smoked in... I am warning everyone to stay away. Budget is my go to rental car company. I was happy they had a location in the Medford airport for my recent trip. I always book online and use coupon codes to get a great deal. This time I reserved an intermediate SUV for 5 days for under $200. Medford airport is tiny and the budget counter is across from the only baggage carousel. If you are a Fastbreak member your paperwork and keys will be on the counter for you to just grab and go. The lot to pick-up your car is a short walk to the left when you walk out of the airport. The lot of all the rental companies is the same. Budget is all the way in the back. Just look for the space # that is on your paperwork and key tag to find your car. We ended up with a Chevy Equinox. It was a nice car. Got great gas mileage. We drove the whole 5 days on 1 tank including a trip to the California coast. On our last day our flight home was cancelled so we had to extend our rental an extra day. That process was super easy and ended up only adding $12 to our total. When you return just park in your same space and drop off your paperwork and keys at the counter and you are good to go. read more

I have asthma severe enough to require I keep an inhaler with me 24/7 and I told the young lady at the counter upon renting the vehicle and again in return when she asked if anyone had smoked in the car back in August. Now, two and a half months later Budget hit my bank account for $495!!! When I called to inquire about this I was told the car had been smoked in!! I imagine in two and a half months ANYONE could have, so why am I being charged?? I am a b disabled senior woman and live on a very modest income, so this made my account overdrawn by far more than I can possibly cover!! What a nightmare Budget has been! I rented a budget car in Nice. When I left, I forgot my camera in the car and I discovered it only in the plane. I tried to call them, but nobody never answered to any available number. I sent two emails, received an acknowledgement but never received any further news (it is now more than a month passed...). I never received any answer. In addition, I was debited from my card of two fines at the airport where I had no proof of these fines (only admin costs). I ask for it but nobody replies. I will never take any car from Budget or Avis again. This is no service and no responsibility to the client. This is the worst I ever had so far. read more

This was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. I am a frequent traveler and I never had a car rental company confirm the reservation the day of travel, then close prior to your arrival. May I add the flight was not delayed. Medford is a regional airport, so figuring out option B was not easy. The expereince preceeded to get worse from there inclusding having the owner and his daughter make insulting remarks/act unprofessional and overcharge me. HORRIBLE!!!!It is their word against yours. We rented a car that had a dent. We reported it immediately before driving off and the rental agent put a note in the system. We even took pictures of it while it was in the lot with the space number. We are still being harassed by claims even after we told them this was reported and even after the pictures. We spoke with the manager at the Medford Airport location who agrees that this was reported to them. I don't understand why their claims person doesn't research this. It feels like a shake down. We are going to file a police report for fraud because we feel this is fraud and we are being accused of something we didn't do. read more

The car and customer service was fine and I would give a 5 star rating, but.... I just saw on my credit card they are charging me $250 for detailing the car. They said there was dog hair and mud that could not be moved. My wife and I are seniors who used the car for sight-seeing and don't even own a dog! I talked directly to Medford Rental Car and they said there was nothing they could do about it. I suspect someone else rented a car with a dog and returned the same day and the charge must have been erroneously put to our account. However, there is nothing we can do about it. Very disappointed. Just experienced a bait-and-switch at this location. My husband rented a car online to pick up here. Reservation price was $183. When we went to pick up the car, Katie (or Jolee, she told us Katie but the paperwork says Jolee), found our reservation and handed my husband paperwork showing a total of $477!!!! My husband tried to show Katie a copy of the reservation but she refused to even look at it! She said she couldn't change the price and had gone ahead and charged our credit card although my husband did not sign the rental agreement. She told my husband to call corporate about the price but that corporate wouldn't fix it. My husband called corporate and they did refuse to honor the reservation. As my husband was calmly and politely trying to get corporate to honor their commitment (he called 4 times and talked to four people, none of whom would honor the reservation price), Katie became belligerent and rude. My husband had to tell her to stop being rude to him. She just kept on. We ultimately refused the bait-and-switch and taxied to our hotel. To top things off, the $477 charge shows pending on our credit card although Katie said she zeroed it out and told us the charge did not go through. My husband had repeatedly asked for a receipt showing this at the time, but she refused to comply at first and finally gave him a daily charge sheet showing zero owed, not the same as a charge reversal. In three days we might have to deal with disputing this charge. Budget is not an honest company. Rent elsewhere. read more

Horrible experience returning our rental car to this location. Upon calling the Medford airport Budget phone number listed the night before our flight to make sure we understood the drop-off procedure, a general Budget worker picked up the phone- for some reason it wouldn't go directly to someone at that location. He couldn't give exact directions as to where to drop off the car within the airport, but assured us it would be easy to find and that we should lock the keys inside the car and leave it in the Budget parking lot as it would be after hours. We did so, and upon entering the airport saw a drop box for rental car keys. Uh oh...why was this not posted outside, and why did the representative tell us otherwise? Budget then charged us an extra $120 for locking the keys inside the car. They have offered to give us half that money back, not the full amount, since we have no proof that we were told to lock the keys inside the car and since "the Medford location does not accept after hours returns." This is absolutely preposterous from top to bottom- if the location doesn't accept after hours returns, why weren't we told when we rented the car and scheduled our drop off? Why is there a rental car return lot and a drop box? Why didn't the representative over the phone know this? We will never rent from Budget again. This experience was terrible. I reserved a Buick. I reserved it for 10 am. We waited in line for more than 30 minutes to talk to the clerk. When it was our turn, our car was "gone" because it was 10:39, they said. We were forced to "upgrade" to an SUV which we did not want because I hate SUV's, there's no trunk. And we have an elderly woman with us. I reserved to car with a different driver and the clerk said we owed $65 more dollars. After I paid already, I paid $97 more at the desk. read more

She was friendly, professional and understanding about my concern for renting a vehicle large enough to accommodate a large antique that I was taking to my daughter in AZ. The problem began 24 hrs. later when I again tried to rent a vehicle, one-way, back to Medford for the following week. Not happening; in fact, the agents in Glendale, AZ had the nerve to look me in the eye and tell me they "had been sold out of cars for months". Worst experience with a truck rental! Besides a truck with no A/C, poor running diesel, bird crap in cab, filthy, chunks out of tires (reserved 2 weeks earlier). Was told yes, all our trucks have a/c - BUT it may not work. Extremely poor customer service employee. Despite asking for the owner - he stated he couldn't be reached, and wouldn't be in - I am a local biz owner myself and customer service is critical. NEVER AGAIN!
