Scammers - Avoid This Location This same scam shows up again and again in the reviews, and I experienced it myself. I arrived with a reservation made two months earlier using points. The confirmed total charge was $92.30 for a large sedan. At the counter, Lexani asked if we wanted to upgrade to the largest SUV--we said no, but agreed the smallest SUV, like a Toyota 4Runner, would be fine. What she did not mention was the $65/day upgrade fee and other hidden charges totaling $613 for what was supposed to be a free five-day points rental. She folded and stapled the invoice without showing it to us. Luckily, I checked it in the parking lot and saw the scam. When I went back to switch to the original large sedan, they claimed none were available (despite a lot full of SUVs). Instead, Lexani offered another 4Runner for $230. When I pointed out my reservation clearly stated $92.30 total, she told me to "call Hertz" they must have made a mistake. Corporate Hertz instructed the site to honor my rate, but Lexani refused to talk to them, saying she didn't work for Hertz. She then flat-out refused talk to us at all and told us to go elsewhere. Very Disappointing Experience with Hertz - Will Not Rent Again I recently rented a car from Hertz at Medford, OR airport, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst rental experiences I've had. From the start, things were frustrating. The attendant was more worried about renting the car than getting my information correct in the system. She quoted a price $1470.00 a month, but handed me a receipt for $1917.95 and when I requested that she correct it, she said she would have to have a manager back it out of the system before she could correct the price. By the time I received the keys, I had already spent a great deal of time there. I was beyond frustrated and just took the keys. Then, when it was due to return, I drove to the airport to extend the rental to only be told, we can't extend your rental beyond 30 days. When I checked out, she (Lexani) couldn't give me a receipt because I verbally told her what the mileage was, but she needed a photo to prove what the mileage that I had just told her was the true mileage. So I walked out to the vehicle (again) to take a picture of the mileage (which she didn't even look at) and this time she took my word for it. She said she would send me an email with the receipt, but she didn't even have my email (which I gave to the first attendant). It would require a manager to be able to put that information in the system. I called the next day and spoke to her manager (Carol) to voice my concerns and it all fell on deaf ears. Because the Hertz at Medford airport is a franchise, they can't provide points for any rentals that you reserve with them. She didn't see any problem in the run around I received from her staff, nor could she even admit any wrongdoing on her or her staff's behavior. I felt like I was being taken advantage of rather than being treated as a valued customer. Overall, my experience with Hertz was a hassle from start to finish. I would not recommend Hertz to anyone looking for a smooth and reliable rental experience. So I went next door to National to rent a vehicle for $700 less per month. Terrible customer service. When I arrived, they told me to park in long-term parking. I lived nearby and if I had known I was going to be paying for parking I would have had somebody drive me there. Additionally, I couldn't transfer my baggage from my car to the rental car because my car was stuck in long-term parking, not the rental car parking. I told the counter agent three different times. I was frustrated by the miscommunication and the inconvenience. She didn't even reply to my expression of frustration. She merely told me she didn't know the policy about the parking lots and that wasn't in hertz's jurisdiction. read more

We arrived to the Medford Airport to rent a car only to find that the car REEKED of weed. It was to the degree that we pulled over and purchased air freshener to try to fix the smell...only to find that Hertz charged us $300 and accused us of smoking in it upon our return. The folks here picked me up within five minutes at the airport. It was not an inconvenience whatsoever. Although the girl who was behind the counter, was the one that picked me up, she was professional, courteous, grabbed my bags for me was very accommodating, and I had the same experience with my return. They were very accommodating and help me with my luggage, it's one of the best experiences I've had with the car rental in many many years The car was brand new, clean, and with a couple scratches that it handled beautifully for what I needed. I should of read the reviews. I had a sudden business trip I needed to take to Medford. I made a reservation online at 7am and would be arriving at 12pm. When I got to the airport I found out that hertz is offsite and you need to take a shuttle. After waiting awhile I call them. They told me they could send a shuttle but they also had no midsize cars which I reserved and they already had a few people there waiting ahead of me to get a car as soon as they were cleaned. They told me it would be a few hours. I asked them if they had any cars available and they said yes but they are larger and would have to charge me more money. This was the first time I have seen a car rental company ask for more money for a larger car because they ran out of the size you had a reservation for. I ended up making a reservation with national car rental online that was only $8 more per day while I was at the airport and walked over there 5 minutes later and they already had an envelope with my name on it with my keys and I was in my rental car within a matter of minutes. My experience is going to be almost word for word of others. Inspect your car well. This location gives you a car with rear bumper damage and says the rest of the car is perfect. After I got my Kia POS, with rear bumper damage, I went back in and told them I did not want a mini-van and I will not drive any KIA. The Kia had a huge scratch down the passenger side. The next car they gave me had rear bumper damage noted. I went out and inspected the car. Dents on all four doors, and get this it had a cracked windshield. WTF? Hertz... I had to go back in to document all of the damage. Who is not doing their job at this location? Worst rental ever!!!! I'm a business traveler and am a Hertz Gold member. I have never gotten a worse car than this in the 15 years I have been traveling for work. It was a car class under what I reserved. It was in terrible shape there were many scratches on the car and the hub caps looked like they had been scraped across the ground. The inside of the car has a truly awe full smell. It's got over 30,000 miles and really should be out of rotation. When I asked if they had another car they said that there would be an extra charge. But they could down grade my reservation. ( they did not lower the price, just gave me a smaller car). Horrible car and horrible service. Should have stayed with Avis. Just didn't want the off airport rental agency. Would give 0 stars if I could. Also they don't give gold benefits at this agency. As a routine business traveler, this Hertz location is very much below par with the industry. First, no "Gold" privileges so you have to wait at the counter for several minutes to check in and check out. There is no attendant in the lot to help check mileage and gas levels, so I found that they overcharged me significantly on the mileage. I had already gone through Security by the time I noticed the extra fees so I couldn't go back to contest the matter. The manager of this location misled me on the pricing of an upgrade and fast-talked through the contract so that it wasn't clear that they were going to add a surcharge that effectively doubled the rate, plus charge a higher rate on mileage for the larger vehicle. When I called to ask for them to correct these two issues since I am a regular customer and a Hertz Gold member, they said that since I had initialed the contract and they could do nothing for me and basically said that this was my own fault for not reading the teeny, tiny fine print when I was late for a business meeting. This location is privately owned and franchised, so expect the worst customer service and shady business practices. BEWARE of them scamming you and taking advantage of you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I arrived at the airport to pick up my vehicle to realize there was no counter. I had to go to a different car rental counter and ask them where it was to realize they are now off site, multiple miles away. A shuttle came to pick me up that I had to call for, and waited ~15 minutes for. Upon arrival to the old, beat up hotel that they are now located, the shuttle dropped me off at the furthest end of the parking lot and pointed to my car. The driver, Mike, gave me the keys and my paperwork. I noticed a dent on the door and immediately mentioned something to him. He told me that they were well aware of it and it was documented and to not worry about it. I didn't know where the office was located so I decided to call a number I found for the front desk. I talked with Cherish there and she assured me that they already have knowledge of the dent, and that I didn't need to take any further action. Two weeks after dropping it off, I get a call from a claims company asking for my insurance information so that they can process the claim. FOR $7,500. I found out where their physical location was, went up to the desk and speaking with the manager about it and telling her about what happened she told me: "you didn't sign anything. It's our word against yours." Because they are a franchise location, corporate HQ literally can't do anything to help. I would avoid this at all costs as now I'm responsible for damage to a car that I didn't do. I travel a ton for business and have never encountered anything like this before. First of all, Hertz isn't even located at the Medford Airport! One calls a number and waits for a shuttle 15 minutes away to take you to a small space in a hotel lobby! Don't use hertz if you can help it. They rip you off. All kinds of fees and service charges for no reason. I ran out of time and couldn't put gas in the car before dropping it off. There was a little more than a quarter of a tank left in the Nissan versa, which is a small gas tank. They charged me $90 to fill the rest of the car up. I will never rent from them again. I've been a Hertz fan for 40+ years, sometimes a higher price is worth it due to convienience and customer service. NOT AT MEDFORD EVER AGAIN! Hertz has moved out of the airport to a motel a few miles away, using one shuttle bus with a grouchy driver. Meanwhile Avis,Budget, Alamo and Enterpirse remain at the airport, with counters at the baggage area and cars parked outside. I guess Hertz is saving a few bucks?? Anyway, add on 30 - 45 minutes to pick up and return your car. If the shuttle driver is napping or having a meal, add on more time. Someone at Hertz Management deserves to be fired over this decision to move down the road to a motel. And their cars are parked way down at he farthest point in the parking lot from the motel office (Hertz couner) so you can drag all your luggage in the rain to check out. The Hertz location is at the Regency hotel close to Medford airport. The service when getting my car was good. The car was good, except it did not have snow tires !!! which I specifically requested. I got stuck in the snow while many cars were passing me. When i returned the car, the lady was not only NOT apologetic or sympathetic, she was snarky and rude, and even laughed like, "yeah we don't do snow tires for Medford". Huh ?!?! This franchise operation IS THE WORST EVER. I had the misfortune of renting two times in May-June for a total of 14 days. On the first rental, I was told at the counter that I needed a 4-wheel drive to make my trip through the mountain pass to Klamath Falls. They up sold me and guess what? NO SNOW and a perfectly beautiful highway! My client balked at the upgrade charge and refused to reimburse me. Hosestly, I dont blame the client, I blame the dishonesty at Hertz Medford. This is the worst hertz car rental unit I have ever been to. Avoid at ALL cost and book with one of the rental car places at the airport. Consistently the shuttle takes 30-45 minutes and leaves you waiting at the airport. They never answer their phones and one time the hotel shuttle (where they are located) came by twice before the hertz shuttle did and refused to take hertz passengers. Their cars are old and damaged. When I picked up car I paid with my debit card and they charged me a "deposit" of over $200 and when I called they said it would clear after I returned their car..... This place is DISGUSTING. We got here after another car we rented from Hertz broke down. I live in California and we were driving down from Portland when our car broke down. Here's how the story goes. Our car breaks down, so we get a tow truck down to Medford. Arrive there around 4 PM. We wait about 30 minutes before they tell us that they don't have a car for us, when theres a WHOLE lot full of them outside. What the heck? There's another group waiting, trying to get down to San Francisco, we are too. Keep in mind that my group was Asian and so was theirs. Both counter workers were white and obviously racist. Another family walks in, and gets a key to their car AFTER both us and the other group tried renting one. I thought they told us they didn't have any cars. By now, we've spent around 2 hours trying to get a car. It's now 6-6:30 PM. We finally end up getting our car after talking on the phone to Hertz and their customer service. Thank god for Hertz customer service because the man on the phone talked to the counter clerk and told him something I don't know what. After the clerk gives us our car keys, we go out to inspect the car, nothing but some scratches. After we move everything from our broken down car to the new car, he comes out and tells us we can't use the car because there was an airbag recall. So, now we spend another 30 minutes trying to get a different car. Keep in mind, the other group of guys were still there sitting in the airport. WE FINALLY get a new car, which is a downgrade from what we got (A 2016 Hyundai Sonata to a 2013 Elantra). We have to yet move our stuff again. By now, it's nearly around 8:30 PM and we have another 6 hours to drive before we get home. We didn't get home till around 2:30-3 AM in the MORNING. The other group of guys were still there when we left and the counter worker said that we took the last car. Moral is, don't rent from Medford. Terrible, terrible experience, will probably never rent from Hertz again. We're also Gold members btw. Horrible service, especially after they gave us a broken car. HORRIBLE!!!! I would give zero to negative stars if possible. We showed up to pick up our vehicle within a window of time but they had given our car to someone else because it is on a "rotation" and so we had to wait to leave because there was not another car available. When we asked how long this process would take because we had a 12 hour drive ahead of us, the associate, Cherish, told us she had no clue how long it would take and would not call to find out. When I asked why nobody had called us to warn us our vehicle would not be ready in our window of time she VERY RUDELY responded "well I can't call every customer" (mind you she had been leaning on the counter talking to the maintenance guy when we walked up and was on her phone. Guess those candies can't crush themselves). When we got out of line to call the customer service line and speak with a manager she LOUDLY started talking about us with the next customer. It was incredible. We did eventually get a car after talking with the manager about 45 mins later. I attempted to file an actual complaint with Hertz who would not actually accept the complaint because we still had the car out. So, I believe it is safe to say their customer service and business practice is the worst I have pretty much ever dealt with. Also, their location is not where is states on the email confirmation sooooo another hiccup in the travel day that can just add to potential stress and frustration. 0/10 would not recommend to a friend. read more

Beware! There is a scam going at the Hertz Rental Car at the Rogue River Airport in Medford, OR. It goes like this: I arrived at the rental car counter and the clerk had my paperwork ready to include an inspection already done on the car I was assigned. She noted some damage on the rear bumper and had marked that on the diagram. She told me it would not affect the driving of the car but if I would like to confirm it to please take a look. I went out and looked at the damage on the bumper and there was a small cut in the center. When I returned to accept the vehicle the damage was marked with a small squiggle in the center of the bumper. I signed the rental forms and took the car. When I returned the car, the company claimed the sqiggle mark was an "S" that stood for scratches and the cut was damage I caused and was therefore responsible for. Huh? They refused to discuss it further and turned it over to their claims company for processing. Yes, I should have looked at the code indicating "S" for scratches and made her change it to the appropriate damage. That is my mistake. I trusted the clerk to have recorded the damage correctly; the damage marking was in the correct location on the diagram. It was just not coded correctly. After protesting to the local company and the claims company, I was still held liable for approximately $850 in damage and another $400 for administration and processing. Beware of this company! I will never rent from them again. read more

I had not read the negative reviews before booking and became very apprehensive once I read them, just before I picked up the car. So, I was very pleasantly surprised by the friendly and attentive service at checkout and the fact that we were bumped up in class without any extra charge. I'm sure that the previous negative reviews were deserved, but my experience was very positive. The initials of my counter agent (per the paperwork) were "MG." Unfortunately, I did not get her name.
