In general, I prefer enterprise over their competitors and rent from them when I travel for work, which is pretty often (1-4x a month). When I'm renting a car in cville, I prefer this location over the pantops one. I've been consistently renting from this location for about 2 years. The staff are friendly, efficient, and timely. I rarely wait longer than 5 minutes to pickup a car. The cars have all been great - very clean and many of them are newer models. Drop off is also quick and easy, they are fast at processing drop offs and have after hours drops available too. On rare occasions I've needed to switch vehicles, they have been gracious and met my needs. One note is that they do not have on-site parking, so do not plan to leave your current vehicle at their business while you're renting. Plan ahead to be dropped off. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to share this experience. The vehicle itself was fine; however, the pickup process was uncomfortable. I was pressured to purchase multiple insurance add-ons despite already having coverage through insurance and my credit card. I was rushed and not given enough time to review the options or contact my insurer, being told the agent needed to return quickly. Afterward, when I raised my concern, the response I received was simply that I had "agreed to the terms," without acknowledging the pressure or lack of time to make an informed decision. I later confirmed that collision coverage was already handled through insurance, making the added pressure unnecessary. More transparency and less pressure would greatly improve the experience. read more

Enterprise on Seminole Trail in Charlottesville is ALWAYS great! They are professional, quick, and responsive. They make the process as smooth as possible. Yesterday's service from Charles Hooper was the best yet! The cars are always clean and the safety and flexibility of after-hours drop-off is appreciated. I like that they call the day after your return and ask how everything was and if there was anything that could have been better. I have rented from them for years and the few times I have made suggestions on these calls, they have taken them to heart and actually implemented them. They charged for an extra day saying since they close early on Sunday, even if you return the car Sunday afternoon, since they are not there until Monday then you get charged for an extra day. Why even give the option of returning the car on Sunday if you are going to change for an extra day anyway? Because you close really I get charged extra? I have been a customer with Enterprise for over 15 years. Monday I went into the Seminole trail location. I presented my documents, outstate drivers license and debit card. Flynn the manager refused to let me rent a car. I explained that I do the same thing all the time. He responded with, not sure why you were able to rent a car. Our policy says, if you have out of state DL you must have credit card. I then respond, can I see your policy? The policy reads the following: Valid Virginia Dl or live within 50 mile of branch. Name on debit card matches DL. Sir, I live within the 50 mile of this branch. I feel because I was a black women he refused to assist me in this matter. He was very much rude, dismissive and arrogant. I had two doctors appointments, that I had to cancel due to Flynn lack of assistances, professionalism and failure to adhere company policy. IF YOU ENJOY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. Made a reservation a week ahead & received wrong information the day before. Made another reservation on Saturday and the pickup time was at noon, went to the place & they wouldn't service us because their hours were incorrect online. Why would you approve a pick up for the same time you close? Instead the employee that was inside explaining to us about the miscommunication & giving us CORRECT information he just ignored us and kept on yelling "we're closed!" (Keep in mind this was the SAME employee we've been worktalk about customer service and common courtesy). Called to make another reservation for the next day told to come in as soon as they open & was given the wrong information AGAIN for the past FOUR days. Whoever it was that we had to work with was snarky & did not appreciate his sarcasm at all. It's possible that this is franchise dependent, as I have had a good experience with the enterprise on pantops, but for what it's worth I had a pretty negative experience here. Although I pre-booked online with a specific type of car and package of add-ons, the attendant said that he couldn't pull up my record. Then, since he didn't have the type of car that I asked for, he offered two other much more expensive options. When he found out that I was a student, he let me know about the student discount that would make one of these two available cars the same price is the economy one I had originally chosen. I just felt swindled, as if I should have been grateful for a "discount" even though I wasn't saving anything. I feel like I should have gotten the price I booked online, as well as the student discount. When I asked for a ride back after returning the car, I was told that a driver was not available and that I would need to call an uber. I booked on the phone with a very cheerful and helpful representative. I was explicitly assured the car would be ready (or was in fact, already ready) for me to pick up by the set time. I was told it was cleaned and disinfected per pandemic policy. Upon my arrival, I waited 40+ minutes to for the car as it was not ready, not cleaned, and not disinfected. I do not appreciate my time being wasted. I do not appreciate deception. I do not appreciate COVID policies being ignored. I do not recommend this Enterprise, or any other enterprise. read more

After two car wrecks in one month, I had the unfortunate need to use Enterprise rental cars for about a month. I found the service so far above and beyond any rental agency I've ever worked with. Brianna in particular went out of her way to be helpful, kind, and accommodating. The cars I got were new, clean, fuel efficient and actually fun to drive. Pick-up and drop-off were super easy, and they were on top of it every time I had a question. I really hope this is the last time I MUST visit, but I would absolutely choose them again if I need a rental. read more

I have rented from this specific Enterprise location multiple times. The staff has always been extremely polite and professional at all times. I have always been greeted with a big smile and handshake. All questions I have ever asked were answered on the spot by the individual whom I was talking to - it is apparent that all the employees are professionally and properly trained. I have always had an excellent selection available as far as options for a rental vehicle goes. Every time the vehicle has been in outstanding condition both on the exterior and interior. These guys go out of their way to make sure every vehicle (at least in my experience) is ready for the customer at the time of pickup and absolutely spotless on the inside. These guys care about their customers, and have earned a loyal customer in me. I have recommended this specific location to multiple family members and friends, who have all expressed their options of their experience with the staff as a positive one. I am very disappointed with Enterprise. We had an emergency need for an SUV due to weather conditions. When we called we had to navigate through a complicated menu with about 10 steps before we could talk to a person. The person was working out of a call center and not on site and didn't really know what cars were available. He booked us an SUV and provided a confirmation number. When we arrived at Enterprise in Charlottesville we were told that no cars or SUVs were available. I suspected they were giving the cars out to local friends rather than accommodating us out of towers. Whatever the case, they need to fix their computer system to reflect what is really available and the call center software to make it easier to reach a local rental associate. read more

I have never had a better experience with a rental car location. I mistakenly booked to return the car at the Enterprise location that was not at the airport. I arrived frazzled and stressed because I was almost 100% certain I was going to miss my flight. Everyone was very kind to me and extremely helpful. I was able to return the car very quickly and they were able to get me a ride to the airport. I am writing this review from the plane thanks to the wonderful employees who were working today. RENTER FOR A RENTAL.......BEWARE !!!!! Everyone knows that every business has its down fall. Miscommunication, lack of proper representation (manager) and poor training all describe Enterprise Car Rental. If you rent a vehicle from Enterprise make sure you pay close attention to their pitch on all the extra insurance they declare you need. Even if you have full coverage insurance through your private provider; Enterprise will scare you into thinking that if you're in a collision accident that you are responsible for all repair cost up front and that you would then have to wait for your insurance company to reimburse you "there was even some sob story about his brother not taking the extra insurance and how he almost lost everything because he was waiting for his insurance company to reimburse him." Since we are fairly new to the Charlottesville area and we are not familiar with all the sharp turns, winding roads, and drivers that are not familiar with the use of a turn signal we made the poor choice of taking the insurance "yes I had sucker on my forehead." But the part that really pissed me off was what lead me to write this review. I was told that the cost of any extras would come at the end when we returned the vehicle. FELLOW RENTERS BEWARE .......THIS WAS A LIE!! This cost seems to come out of your bank account WHENEVER THEY GET AROUND TO PUTTING IT IN THE COMPUTER. First charge came out on the fourth day, second charge two days later. That's when I called to cancel the insurance and file a complaint. I was directed to Steven Rowe (Manager), he could not explain the inconsistency of days the charges came out or as to why I was paying up front and not at the close of bill. This was his response "well.... if you like we can add the money back to your account and then when you return the vehicle we can deduct the full amount." WHAT THE HELL DUMB ASS.....think before you speak, what sense did that make if you've already deducted "WHAT'S DONE IS DONE." There were no other solutions made. Now, before anybody bites my head off wondering why this was such a big deal. We are a military family with 4 children. We live pay check to pay check "small things like this would actually hurt us." Thank goodness I budget for others stupidity!! I contacted our insurance company USAA, they informed me they've had multiple complaints on Enterprise and they were in discussions of finding other rental companies for USAA MEMBERS. read more

Had a 1:00 appointment on May 17th, did not get addressed for the first time until 1:57. Then I was told that they did not have a car for me, but it had been reserved for two days (and saw a car go out 15 minutes before). The agent "Tyler" was condescending and did not care that he had let me sit there for 57 minutes KNOWING he had no cars. Our family recently rented a vehicle from the Enterprise on Seminole Trail and the staff there was fantastic. There was no wait time, smooth check in and check out. Lucas who assisted our family with the rental vehicle was great. He provided a through walk through of the vehicle and showed my mom all of the basic functions of the vehicle. Our family rents vehicles often and never have we encountered a young man who was so informative and so willing to take time to show us the vehicle functions. I had a horrible experience there this evening. The manager, Isai Bradshaw, was extremely rude and argumentative with me. The non profit I work with has been renting trucks for years from the Pantops location in town and they are always great there. Tonight they sent me to this other location at Seminole Trail where the manager informed me at closing that he would not rent to us since we use a debit card. We have a corporate account set up and this is the card on file and we've used for years. Not only was he rude to me, he also called the other location while behind the desk where everyone could hear and proceeded to yell and berate the person who answered the phone at the Pantops location. No thanks! Your company is horrible and I will never recommend my company to do business with you all. We are happy with Budget not only by price but the excellent customer service. How does your company still exist when you cannot modify a reservation after you pick up your rental? Or there is no customer service agents available to assist you when needed and customers have to contact the local office they rented the vehicle from when only 2 people work there and never answer the phone? We even tried to get assistance on the website with no luck and wrote an email under the HELP section just for ANYONE to contact me back!! Finally the next day after 7 attempts with the get to nowhere recording menu you have to listen to I got an agent on the phone who said he cannot look up our reservation even when I had a reservation/confirmation number! He said only the local office can see the reservation! We should of gotten the rental free for all the HASSLE we went through but instead we paid $230 for a tiny uncomfortable car for only 3 days!! ONLY reason we picked Enterprise was because BUDGET was SOLD OUT! Makes sense why Enterprise was the only place with rentals If your really desperate. We have visited and been thoroughly satisfied with the Airport location multiple times- in and out within 5 minutes- but this location held us for just short of an hour. First, there was a discrepancy over how to pay, as we've NEVER had to put down a deposit to pay with a credit card in the past. The car was far less than desirable- a 2015 Chrysler 200... that didn't even have a CD player! I understand that cars come with a "base package" but that's taking it slightly too far. Finally, we received 5 phone calls from 3 different Enterprise employees on the way to our destination regarding a recall that 'came through on the car as we pulled out of the lot." After working to find a shop where we could swap out the car, they decided to let us keep driving the affected vehicle. To this day, we still don't know what the recall was, as neither associate took the initiative to elaborate on it. Let's not fail to mention that the car's exterior wasn't clean, and it was loaned on only 3/4 tank of gas. However, the manager of the store paid us one of the 5 phone calls personally and struck us to be pleasant and helpful. Come to find out, when we returned the car and inquired about the recall, the agent dismissively said, "Oh, we weren't even calling about the recall. We realized that in all of the confusion over payment we failed to swipe your other card again." We didn't appreciate being made to feel like only a dollar sign, and we really didn't appreciate the agent's condescending attitude. Allow me to summarize: He's glad he got his money, we're glad we didn't die, the recall is still a mystery... and we will NOT be back to this location. read more

I've gotten cars from this location before as insurance loaners and always had good experiences. I rented one myself for the first time and it was just a really great experience. Everyone was friendly. Jeremy helped me out and got me into a comfier full size car for only about $15 more. Everything about the whole process went smoothly, even when using my debit card. The salespeople were friendly. I've generally been satisfied with Enterprise, and choose them over Hertz: good rates, straightforward service. Two minor criticisms I have for this rental. One: the car was delivered with 3/4 tank of fuel. This was stated on the rental agreement, and I only had to return it that way, but it seems less professional, and besides, its difficult to bring the tank back to that level. I prefer the car to always be delivered with full tank. Two: the interior was given a very quick cleaning just before we took the car, and the wrong product was used on the windshield and side windows, so that they were very streaky. Again, not very professional, and I had to wipe them all down with a rag to make them clear and safe for night driving. read more
