The next day, I discovered that one of the tires was underinflated and had a slow leak - so Budget had basically sent me out in an unsafe vehicle. After AAA came and put the spare tire on, I drove back to Albany for a replacement vehicle. Rather than an apology, the Budget reps in the garage offered only a sarcastic laugh when I said I would be asking Budget to waive fuel charges, due to the danger and inconvenience Budget had caused me. Although I returned the replacement car with a full tank, Budget charged me an additional $138 anyway. Apparently, Budget employees don't check the fuel gauge on returned cars, and I didn't have the "time-stamped documentation" their online Customer Service demanded as proof. When I asked them how much my tolling charges were, they said there was nothing in the rental agreement about my enrolling in the toll program, though I had confirmed my enrollment with two on-site Budget employees. (Note: An additional $28.16 charge from Budget later appeared on my credit card, with no explanation or documentation. I assume this was the tolling charge.) The only good thing I can say is that the Budget reps at the counter in the Albany airport were working hard, and patiently, in a very inefficient system. I thank them for their courtesy and good humor, and offer my sympathy for having to work for such a broken company. I will never rent from Budget again.

On…read more7/22 I picked up my rental from that location it was for a full size SUV the agent gave me a 2020 Pathfinder. The rental was a one way with a return location of Charlotte North Carolina. On 7/25 I started my trip home at 10:00am and 60 miles north of Harrisburg PA the tire went flat and I had to pull off the highway. I called Roadside assistance And after sitting on hold for 30 minutes finally reached an agent and was advised they put in the request and would send a text with ETA. I waited 30 more minutes my husband was calling for me as well from agent to agent 4 1/2 hours later the roadside arrived and put the spare on which happened to be a donut. I could not continue another 600 miles on a donut so once again both myself since I was traveling alone and my husband who was home and concerned and calling on my behalf called Avis to get a replacement vehicle both of us were told no similar vehicles were found Near my location and since the car was drive-able nothing could be done! The car was not drive able it was a full size suv with a donut! I made my way to Harrisburg and finally found a shop that had an in stock tire that I had to pay for by this time it was 5:00 and I was finally back on the road. The tire that went flat had previously been plugged by the Albany location and was not fit for a trip of this length additionally the tire had wires showing on the inside of the tire. I could have been killed should that tire of blown on the highway. Albany was aware of the bad tire and I found a slip for service on that tire on 7/19 three days before my rental! So as a woman traveling alone 900 miles they gave me a vehicle that was unsafe and should have been properly fixed they took shortcuts and chose to leave a bad tire on that car. I sat on the side of the road for hours and could have. Been seriously injured because of their unsafe practices. I am requesting this be addressed immediately and I request a full refund for this rental. My rental was to end on Tuesday 7/28 I returned the car on Sunday 7/26 the moment the Avis store opened to get rid of it. Even that agent made notes on the tire because he looked at it (I made sure to turn in the bad tire with the rental so I placed it in the back) and was appalled by its wear and damage. I don't know how this could an acceptable practice and I am frustrated by the lack of care for customer safety. There are Copious notes in the system with regard to this entire situation. Whether I just have an oil change or brake work or if you need a part, they are right there for you. If they need to order a part, they get a perfect rebuilt one. Also they do incredible body work at the best prices. They also are aware of newer cars being mostly computers so they have that equipment as well. I am satisfied with the work and would come back in the future, particularly because of the people. So I preemptively got in line early (.5 hr before scheduled pick up), trying to plan to reach the front of the line as our extra drivers arrived...to save time (which, even as I'm typing this is hilarious, because that was never...never never ever going to happen). I did plan it perfectly, they arrived as I reached second in line, hugs and hellos, and as we stepped up to the desk, we were informed there are no passenger vans available. And already a half hour in, we stood at that desk for another hour and forty minutes as the staff scrambled, ran out to the garage and back, waiting for management to respond to them to try and make something happen. We learned that there was really no inventory of cars for the reservations made. We watched the line behind us grow from 10 to about 50 people in that time. Shout out to Zeke, Whitney, Aman & Elizabeth. They were all left to deal with angry and frustrated travelers with no cars to give them, no authority to make any decisions, no support, and short staffed inside and outside. Whoever "Bob" is left them all high and dry and was not reachable or responsive, but apparently the only person who could authorize anything. In our case, it finally ended up resulting in two 7-passenger cars after almost 2 hours. When we received them, they were dirty, with gum stuck to the cargo space carpet. I have photos of a super long line of people, but that has already been posted by others. They completely overbook with no regard for arriving travelers. My daughter lives here so we will most likely be renting again. But I will never ever rent from this Avis/Budget location. In fact, I will likely stay away from Avis/Budget anywhere because of the experience at this location. Zeke, Whitney, & Elizabeth need a raise and a vacation.
