I reserved a car from the Columbia location, and I was shocked at the condition of the vehicle they gave me. There was damage to the front of the car that was clearly the result of some type of collision, the inside smelled of cigarette smoke, and windshield was chipped and so filthy that I couldn't see out of it. I went back to the counter to request a different vehicle but was told they didn't have any available. One of the agents kindly offered to "treat it real quick", but after waiting for 20 minutes, I realized there really was nothing they could do that would make me feel good about driving the car. I went straight to another rental car agency and rented a pristine car for $300 less. I do not recommend using this Enterprise location. read more

My insurance made a reservation and when I got here they said there wasn't one. Gentleman at counter told me it was insurance fault. When I called insurance they said there was a reservation. I walked back in and the man told me it was Billings fault for not shifting dates to accommodate my reservation, not my insurance. On top of all of this he then came into the lobby where I was waiting and then in front of other customers claimed he was right and I was wrong, after having already wronged me. Claimed I don't know what I am talking about, even with my insurance on speaker phone on a recorded line where he admitted that Enterprise was at fault. Disregarding the error, just be honest about what's happening, treat people kindly, I will not be returning to the location again. Lying to customers is not good business, take responsibility. Pre-booked a regular sedan for a 10am pickup for one day. I get there at about 10:20am from some traffic and tell them I have a car reserved for 10am. For whatever reason they don't seem to have any cars ready/available even though I had a reservation for one. There were also 4-5 other parties in the lobby that were just waiting around until a car was ready that also seemed to have reservations booked beforehand. After waiting over 40 minutes in their lobby with nothing happening someone finally says I'm going to go wash a car and bring it up for you. The whole process took over an hour which I think is crazy given that I had a reservation weeks in advance. They also charged me an extra $28 for a young driver fee. Something I wouldn't have minded if they had actually told me beforehand at any capacity. At not a single point in this entire process did any employee care to disclose the extra fees to me. Would have been very easy to inform someone about this policy. Overall this place seemed to be run like a well oiled brick, heads up. read more

Good and bad experience. When I first moved to this area in Columbia, use this particular enterprise because it was close to my home and it was close to where I was getting my car repaired and Geico was paying for it lately. My recent experience with this location has not been good. The car quality has gone down the staff Attitudes has gone up in my last experience this last week has not been all that great. I went through three cars and three days the first car the tire kept going flat. The second car had no floor mats and seats was worn. The car stopped working all together and they had to bring me another car. The third one the fog battery went up but overall was a nice SUV. Thinking about buying one. My experience with the desk staff was interesting. When I was under Geico paying for the vehicle rental I got treated better. Once I rented on my own I notice a difference in some of the staff attitude. I was the only person at the desk and the lady walked away and never checked me in but once a regular customer came in she went straight to him and checked him in. I finally got checked in by another person. The person who waited on me was wonderful. I like the location because it's not too far from my home, but I think I'm going to go back to renting cars from the BWI location. They have a better quality of cars, they keep their cars up, and nice staff and unprofessional. read more

Reserved a vehicle online and it said it was available for Saturday pick-up. Talked to Enterprise directly that we needed a home pick-up, and they said they'd notate that and forward to the location. When we received a call from the location, they said they had nothing until Tuesday. Queried why the website let us reserve if nothing was available and they said their system doesn't update on time. Asked where I could get a vehicle and the rep directed me to the airport. I questioned if the airport rental did home pick-ups and they said "no," despite KNOWING that we needed a home pick-up. At this point, the attitude and lack of friendliness from the rep was becoming irritated. I sarcastically asked, "So, should we go with a different company since your company sucks?" They then got an even WORSE attitude and responded, "If that's how you want to see things, sure." I've already reported that rep to management. A central Enterprise rep apologized profusely, wrote a report, and said they'd find me a local car and possibly even deliver to our house if possible. I started out with a rental through insurance, which went okay, renewal was easy until it wasn't! very inconvenient not letting me know ahead that I wouldn't be able to extend again. And when I finally purchased a new car, they wouldn't pick up the rental from the dealership making me drive around a whole lot of extra miles in my vehicle and have to get a ride in order to return it! I picked Enterprise over slightly less expensive options because I would need a ride home - 4 MILES AWAY. When I asked for the advertised ride home - they declined because I don't live in Columbia...even though I live closer than most addresses in Columbia, and they had plenty of staff. I also asked them to add my enterprise number to the rental, and the representative while able to confirm that I did have an enterprise membership did not know "how that works" and suggested I go online and figure it out. Thing were good until my last rental. First, I pointed out a small crack in the windshield and also updated my email address because everything is paperless right now. I never received any paperwork and when I returned the car, the crack in the windshield expanded because we had a snow storm. I would give zero stars if I could. I was in an accident and my insurance company made a reservation for me to pick up my rental car the day before. Upon arrival, I was told that they had no cars available. They neglected to call me or the insurance company to tell them they had no cars available when the reservation was made. Hello, I am reaching out asking for help to blast the horrible experience I had with enterprise car rental. My husband and I got rear ended on July 11, 2020. We got a loaner from Enterprise car rental from Rockville location (off of Southlawn st) The car hasn't been driven afterwards, until we use for PT sessions in Columbia md. We noticed something was banging as we were driving. It was the rain guard, a corner popped off and was rubbing against the front tire. We contact enterprise right away but they were closed that weekend. I immediately contact them on that Monday the July 20th at 9:05am. The employee there said they don't have any vehicle available until 12-5pm that day. We told them that we had a PT appointment and will take it to Enterprise in Columbia md (McGaw st). We took it there on July 20th around 1:40 pm, one of the employee there said there's no SUV for us to swap out, he then came out to look, went back in and came back outside with a couple screws and a screw driver. He screwed it back up and said we were good to go. As we were driving back to the Rockville location, half of the rain guard blew opened and was dragging on the street. We then called enterprise at the Rockville location again, told them what happened and they said they can not come to pick us up or swap out the car. We went to the nearest enterprise branch (it was closed) so there was a jiffy lube next to it. We told the girl Merrille from the Rockville location that we are taking to jiffy lube to have it taken off. She said do what is necessary. We took it in, the employee there unscrewed the leftover one screw and pull it out gently (took less than a minute). We gave him $20 on cash because they said "no charge". We finally took it back to swap it out at the Rockville location when they finally got a vehicle for us. Now they hit us with a $1,730 for damaging your car. It is not right. We didn't do anything wrong except driving a defective vehicle that they provided us. They said we checked off around the car (yes, we walked around to check, how are we supposed to know the rain guard was going to come off while driving?) I've been in contact with all their managers but they are blaming us and jiffy lube for the damages. This is soo wrong and I can't believe what is happening. If I did something wrong, I would take full responsibility for it. This was a defective car, it was soooo stresseful to deal with on top of being rear ended, Enterprise is not taking responsibilities and was not being attentive or helpful with helping us throughput the whole time. Please help me put them on blast so this won't happen to anyone else! This is so absurd and I am in total shock of what is happening. I will not pay for something I didn't do or have t. We go to Florida every February around Presidents day and usually fly. This year we decided to rent a car and drive down since airline tickets were so expensive. We usually rent from another company but this Enterprise was really close. We reserved an intermediate sized SUV a few days before we were set to go. When we got there they didn't have the size we ordered but upgraded us free. The price quoted online was the price we paid. This is a bit unusual because the other place always tries to up sell and adds a ton of fees. The car was in perfect condition and my wife was in and out in a matter of minutes. It was surprisingly easy and she was happy with how nice they were. When we returned it, there was also no problems and she was in and out very quickly. At this point, we probably won't go anywhere else and the difference in price between flying and renting a car is so much different we may do this every year. The prices online seem to be similar to other companies but it's hard to tell because some of them add fees that aren't shown online. We paid what was shown on their website. read more

My gripe for this place lies not in the fact that I was the renter. My husband was the one renting the car. However, it is for the customer service that I had hoped to receive when it came to almost losing an important member of the family, my daughter's favorite stuffed toy, her Snoopy dog. The day that we returned the first rental car she wanted to ride in the rental on the way to school. She took her best buddy with her and as she often does in our personal car, left him in the back seat. We didn't realize until bedtime that he was gone. He had made it halfway around the world and all around the country without ever getting lost and my daughter ended up misplacing him in a rental car near home. Both my husband and I called first thing the next day and left our numbers in case they found him. We heard nothing so we assumed, sadly, that he was long gone. Fast forward 3 weeks to this past Saturday when my husband had to rent another car. Lo and behold, they have Snoopy. I am not sure how long he had been there but both my husband and I left numbers describing him and I thought I had put across how important it was to us to get him back. On one hand I am thrilled that my daughter and Snoopy were reunited. However, I just wish they had just taken the extra step and called when they had found him. read more

I rented cars here several times but not in the past 2 years. This location is in an corporate park type area. The had the most random small selection of cars so you should call before you come. They are not in control of when people return cars so sometimes there are several and possibly none. Like all rental places take pictures of the car and check it before you leave. When returning walk with them to check it together and don't leave before they agree no damage. They don't have enough parking so the cars are randomly parked where they can fit. But the people were nice. They get a lot of business from the local body shops for replacement cars and local residents. read more

The day before the reservations I get a call for the reminder of the car (which was new and refreshing). I show up for a midsize car and they want to give me a ford focus. I ask for a car with a rear view camera and they didn't have anything in that size. The agent tried to sell me ANY car with all the insurance gimmicks. I said no to that. This location has limited cars as it's in the suburbs, field office. I said what' the next size up and the difference was $10 which I took. Got a nissan altima which was fine. Car was clean and washed. It had smudge marks and scratches that the agent (new mgr position) noted. Ensure you have the insurance card and registration in the rental. I booked an intermediate SUV but when I picked up I was able to get an upgrade at the front desk for around the same price. Logan assisted us and was very patient and courteous. We returned the car on a Sunday after hours so all I had to do was park the car and put keys in the drop box. Security deposit was refunded right away. Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by Enterprise Columbia. On 3/7/17 I was dropping off a car that I had originally rented from the Enterprise in Silver Spring. I was approached by a very friendly gentleman that started helping me right away. He immediately went out to check the car and had me sit in the waiting room. I could tell he was a new hire. The Assistant manager (Phil Merced) helped him at the computer inside and then the gentleman went back outside to finish with the car. He turned to me and said, "I'll be right back in ma'am and then you'll be all good to go." He was outside for no more than a minute when Phil went out behind him. I waited for about 7 minutes for them to come back inside and I was thinking something had to be happening because the guy said it would only be a minute. Phil came back inside after about 10 minutes and told me he found a scratch on the roof and he was going to try and see if it would wipe off. Now I know I didn't put any scratches on the car. I drove the car from Silver Spring to Columbia on a Tuesday, drove to and from work (a 5 minute commute) Wednesday - Friday, and left it in the driveway from Friday night until I went to drop it off to Columbia on Tuesday. He came inside and told me that he did get the scratch to come off, but there are dents on the roof. Dents?! At this point he takes me outside to look at the dents. I can't see this dent to save my life. But Phil swears there's one there. So I explain to him that I was not given a thorough walk through at Silver Spring, and that it could have been there when I took the car. He says he needs to call Silver Spring to find out if there is any previous record of the dent being there. Fair enough. He calls Silver Spring and gets put on hold for *in my Chris Traeger Voice* literally 15mins. You would think he would hang up and call again because they obviously forgot about him, but whatever, he finally got through. The Phil introduces himself as the Assistant Manager and then says, "I need to put you on hold for a minute" so he can look up something. And I'm like...you had 15 minutes to do that while you were on hold! SMH. Anyway the guy at Silver Spring hangs up on him I'm assuming because at this point it's already 6pm and they're closed. Phil explains to me that if he takes this car into his store, his branch will be responsible for repairing any damages before they can accept it into their fleet. Makes sense. But I will not accept responsibility for this because A, I can't see any damage to the car, and B, if there is damage there, it was there before I got the car. Now, I will accept responsibility for not thoughtfully inspecting the car before I got it, but I am not trained to notice dents and scratches on the roof! Especially non-existent ones. Plus I'm 5'1" and can't even see the roof. At this point I am agitated. I ask him what my options are. He says I can use my insurance to pay for the damage. No way. I am not paying a deductible and have my rates go up because someone messed up this car before me. I ask him in his professional opinion how much it would cost to fix the "damage" to the car. He says 6 to 8, and in my head I'm thinking, 'oh, only $60-$80 bucks? Maybe I'll just pay it out of pocket and avoid the hassle.' And then he finishes his sentence. Hundred. $600 - $800 for damage I can't even see with my naked eye?! He must be pocketing some of that. He says I can drive it back to Silver Spring tomorrow and "argue with them about it". I tell him today is the last day insurance is paying for the rental. He says I should call them and ask if they can extend it. I call Geico and they extend it for 1 day. I tell him I will be taking it to Silver Spring in the morning. He says, here; let me take you back outside to look at the damage to the car so you can show them what I'm talking about. So we go outside, in the rain and the dark, and he brings his flashlight gun to show me the damage. At this point my friend who was picking me up is here, and he shows us the damage. He's shining the flashlight and I'm looking as hard as I can but I still see nothing. My friend is shocked that he's making such a big deal out of seemingly no damage. She doesn't see it either. At this point she starts getting as agitated as I am and starts feeling on the car and she can't even feel the dent either. Phil dismisses us and we drive home pissed. The next day I take the car up to Silver Spring. Kevin helps me and he does the walkthrough and doesn't notice one thing wrong. No dents. Nothing. I was in and out in 4 minutes. Got the full deposit back too. So safe to say I feel vindicated. Lesson of the story is, if you return a car to Enterprise Columbia make sure Phil Merced isn't anywhere near the car. Special day almost ruined after much due diligence on our part to avoid any issues!!! My son was getting married, and my husband was arranging to rent a car for he and his bride to take on their honeymoon. Since my son and his bride were both under the age of 25, my husband anticipated several potential issues, and he and I were going to be out of town at the wedding site at the time our son would pick up the car. So, my husband called on three occasions to confirm that: a) our son would be allowed to use my husbands reservation b) he would not have to provide any special documents in order to receive the car During each call, my husband reviewed the ages of our son and his fiance, and their anticipated payment method. He was assured that all he needed was his debit card and his drivers license. However, when our son went to pick up the car, he was denied access to the reservation my husband had placed, as well as the Enterprise Plus Discount my husband had been quoted. He was informed that since he was paying with a debit card, he would need to show a utility bill, a paystub, and an insurance declaration in order to receive the vehicle. As our son lives in Chicago, it was impossible for him to provide any of these documents on the spot. If my husband had not anticipated that, in spite of the three phone calls and all the assurances to the contrary, there would be trouble, and asked my mom to wait to head to the area of the wedding until after my son picked up the vehicle, he never would have made it to his rehearsal dinner! My mom ended up having to go to Enterprise and rent the car in her name. This was inexcusable! We will not use Enterprise again! read more

We rented from Enterprise from Columbia, MD center for the July 4th weekend and we got Toyota Camry 2015. To start with the car was disgustingly unclean to the point that we had to stop on our way to get it vacuumed. The AC in the car made horribly loud sound. On our way, the car started showing us warnings for "requires maintenance". I have rented from enterprise many times before from different locations and never faced these many issues. So I hope this was one of their off days. But a note to the renter is to check not only the exterior of the car but have a close look into the interior as well. read more

Then Enterprise calls me to say the dealership wouldn't cover the rental and that I would be charged. Why? They don't know. Do they care that they lied to me when I rented the car? They do not.
