The team at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Daphne, Alabama, did not treat me fairly and are not good intentioned people. Three days ago, I reserved a vehicle with a confirmation number in hand. I even called yesterday to confirm that the car would be ready. My scheduled pick-up time was 8:00 a.m. this morning. When I arrived at 8:40 a.m., I was told that my reserved car -- the one I had a confirmation number for -- had already been given away. As a result, I had to drive to Mobile, Alabama, just to secure a replacement. This added an extra hour and a half to what was already going to be a ten-plus-hour trip. Considering the reputation of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, I expected better. At the very least, a confirmed reservation should be honored. This experience was both frustrating and extremely inconvenient. If I could give 0 stars I would. Not often do I leave a negative review but things must change so no other customer has the experience I had. Unfortunately my personal car completely died so I needed a rental to have any sort of transportation considering I commute to work. I booked a car and had a confirmation number. I got multiple emails confirming my car. Once I showed up to Enterprise they stalled and then finally told me they did not have a car available for me and tried to "contact me multiple times". Checked all my emails... nothing from them aside from my booking confirmation. Checked my missed calls... I didn't have any. There was no one trying to contact me. Side not, there was a lot full of cars and no other car was offered to me. I was left stranded in Daphne and I live across the bridge. Closes at 12:00 p.m. on a Saturday (????) Showed up at 12:04 p.m. and the person working there refused to provide us with a car (Emerald member) which had paperwork already filled out. All he needed to do was give us the key. If Enterprise is OK with having their employees treat people this way, I hope this message will keep people away from them. The car was late and not clean. The staff was way under staffed and rude, busier talking to each other than waiting on their reserved customers. At Avis, Hertz, Budget, etc the car is picked up with a full tank of gas, and you return it full, or pay their crazy fuel rates. Well, with Hurricane Helene approaching, I filled the rental car tank, and barely used 2 gallons, not knowing when my vehicle in repair would be complete. I rented a vehicle from Enterprise in Daphne. It was being paid for by state farm insurance. She talked me into buying their insurance. Through Monday after the July 4th holiday. One person at State Farm said they were flexible until the claim was settled. Enterprise called. Said I owed them another 300 dollars! I have rental car insurance. I think she added in that Enterprise insurance and fees. I did not want. This isn't the way it used to be. You picked up the car, they verified and dealt with your insurance company. People tend to try to take advantage of the elderly. Especially if you are alone. Today I am returning this car. If they insist on more money they can call my attorney and State Farm. Oh! State farm claims are NEVER open on a weekend! Strictly 8 to 5! Your agent is not even coordinating things. They tell you to call this 1800 number, that 1800 number and on an on. Plus it was a holiday weekend. All out of cars. All This happened at the Daphne Frederick blvd. Location. I just moved to a 55 plus independent living and assisted living residence. Many of my out of state guests use Enterprise in Daphne and I haven´t heard any complaints, so when I needed a truck rental I called Enterprise. The whole experience was pleasant. There were plenty of employees so it was very speedy as well. My truck was so fun and useful! I didn't want to lug dirt, plants, etc. in my personal vehicle so I left my car at Enterprise for the day. Renting a truck was a smart move. read more

When I called to inquire they said my husband's card was declined so they went to mine. I called my husband who provided receipt proof to them from them and the card company that this was untrue. I went by this Enterprise location 3 different times over the course of two to make sure they were going to have the exact type of vehicle a small SUV for my wife to drive. All three times I said yes sir we will have it. I showed up this morning. They said, all we have is a Nissan Sentra or a big van. Never mind the fact that I went there three different times over the course of two weeks to make sure they were going to have a midsize SUV and they said yes all three times. This Enterprise location has been remodeled and looks brand spanking new. It has ample parking in front of the building and a huge selection of vehicles to choose. I went in there to swap out a car from the Downtown Mobile location because it didn't have a physical tag and therefore could not travel out of state. I walked in and he gassed up a car had it washed and upgraded me to a brand new truck for the inconvenience. They were super busy but I was in and out of there in a relatively prompt fashion and as I left was pleasantly surprised to see an employee teaching one of the renters how to use the features of their vehicle. I tried to reserve a rental car over the phone on Mar 7th, since my primary car broke down on the side of road. I was trying to take my Wife to Charleston, SC for a medical appointment that was approved travel through the military. When I spoke to the representative (Lynda) she said I needed to have a credit card for payment, since I only have an out-of-state liscense, and an active duty military ID. I only have debit card (no credit card) and she wouldn't let me pay for reservation, since it was violation of policy. The only way for me to use the debit card with my military ID, was for me to show her a copy of my orders....which I was 80 away from home to use computer. I told her to see if there was a manager I could speak with, since in the Enterprise policy on the webpage it says military members are exempt from out of state requirements with military ID. And she said the manager will call me back. But they NEVER did. I have used Enterprise several times in the past 15 years, and I will NEVER EVER EVER use this service ever again. The actions from the employees at the Enterprise office in Daphne AL is a sorry disgrace to military members who sacrifice their lives for their country. I ended up having to rent a car through Turo app, and this is what I will recommend to my fellow military co-workers moving forward. The Enterprise location was on 1990 US 98 in Daphne, AL. My car died near the Battleship, so I had it towed to a Pep Boys in Mobile and I started frantically calling every Enterprise in the area because they allegedly "pick you up." Well, it's not that easy. The location that could pick me up didn't have any cars, and the nearest location with cars was too far away to pick me up. I asked if I could get picked up by the near one and rent a car at the far one, but nope, that's not how they do things. Eventually after bouncing around to various locations I got hold of a guy at this location who said it'd be no problem to pick me up and, yes, they had cars. The driver arrived right when the towing guy did, and we got to the Fairhope office to pick up a car. They had reserved a truck for me, but I explained that it was raining and I had a lot of baggage, so she moved some reservations around and got me a sedan for a one-way trip back to Florida (really expensive though). In the event my car repairs were finished that day, I could return the car for only the charge of a single day. Long story short, that's what happened, and I dropped the car off that night ($120 instead of $600+). I blame Enterprise corporate for the run around when I needed a ride and a car, but this location gets their stars back for taking care of me. read more

I rented a 'Full Size' for a recent business road trip, didn't want to put the miles on my convertible. Apparently full-size means 'Ford Focus', these days. The 9-ish gallon tank made the trip interesting, planning for overnight gas locations every 300 miles, as did the transmission issues. (If you didn't rev the engine through the first gear, the car would stall out / die, I reported this but was told that was 'how these work.' - and he muttered something about fuel economy..) The car smelled like cigarette smoke, a week later I think my sinuses have finally stopped kicking my ass. On a positive note, the rep was pretty friendly and I was in and out pretty quickly. They did *not* pick me up, I left a car overnight in their lot. read more

We made advance reservations for our 30th wedding anniversary trip. We reserved a SUV because my husband has had both knees replaced and needed something easy to get in and out of. When we got there to pick up our rental we were told they didn't have a SUV for us. They had a Dodge Challenger or a Nissan Altima. They did not send us anything in advance to let us now that they wouldn't have what we had reserved so that so could make reservations elsewhere. We really didn't have a choice and took the Altima. Obviously reservation are worthless to enterprise, if you are depending on having what you take the time to reserve there you are wasting your time. Our son said he has NEVER received what he has reserved from this location. The one star I gave them is because the young lady who had to tell us that they don't honor their reservations was polite and apologetic. read more

Employees were nice. He went over everything that was documented (wear on the vehicle due to luggage and usage of the door). The car was clean and nice (hated driving it though because I had to merge a lot and the car wouldnt let me signal that I would b merging unless there wasnt a car right beside me which makes driving into Louisiana that much worse but thats the cars fault). Got stranded in Louisiana because the Customer Service for the Enterprise company didnt tell me that I would need a Louisiana drivers license AND a credit card (after we told them I dont have a credit card so id be paying debit for both rentals) so my dad visited this location again to see if he could pay for one with them and get me the rental out in LA. They were rude to him and even said they shouldnt have rented me the other car in the first place. A simple "We cant do that" (which was kinda expected anyways) would have worked. Why go out of your way to say that you shouldnt have done done business with me in the first place? The only reason they get three stars is because of my first visit with them. read more

Highly disastified with the service I recieved this past weekend. I've made a reservation since May of this year with intentions of having a car for me and my daughter. But that was not the case, I instead recieved a call the DAY BEFORE me picking up that I will NOT have a car. Not only was it the day before, but it was after store hours so I was left unable to call back like they said to. I was therefore left in a panic moments before boarding my flight knowing I won't have a form of transportation for me and my child. That following morning/the day I was supposed to pick up, I recieved another call with the same message..no car and didn't even get help in resolving the issue, I instead was told that I reserved my car the day before, which I didn't, I have my confirmation emails from when I first booked and another stating my car will be ready for pickup. I asked if she could help in any way since I'd reserved so far in advance and was told no and I'd HOPEFULLY have a car that following week, which would do me no justice considering I'd be flying back home. I instead was told to call other locations myself and see what they could do for me. So I then called the Mobile, AL location and explained my situation in hopes of them having a car but was given the same story and was told "it's the holidays", its busy etc, which I understand and is why I reserved so far in advance to avoid mess like this..but still received no help and was put on 'waiting list' leaving me with no car. I then went up to the store myself to get a better understanding, and while waiting, I had seen people renting cars with no problem at all who had only reserved three months prior to pickup which made me even more upset considering I reserved since MAY. My family reserved a van for a long road trip 5 weeks ahead of time. 2 days before the rental we went by and they said it was all fine. The day of the reservation we get there and find out that they don't have a van and we have to take another car. We had to cram 5 people into a pathfinder for a 15+ hour car ride. They told us we could switch out on the road. We drove from AL to KS and kept having to call management back as they never called us back like they said they would each time. They told us not a single location had a van. We went through 4 states and couldn't get any help from enterprise. They didn't tell us ahead of time that the car wouldn't be available instead they lied to us and said everything was fine. We will never use them again and I suggest everybody else avoid them as well. read more

I really like to rent cars from Enterprise. Location is convenient for me and for the most part I get good rates. The only thing is that last time I got a very small car, they never have given me one so small. Inconvenient to drive on the interstate. Company knew they had a problem did not have enough cars for booked reservations. I would rate this company only one star not because the employees didn't try to please but because enterprise did not properly schedule to meet the demand of customers in the area. I was told by one young man that Tuesdays are always a problem. So let me start off by saying the people were very well mannered and nice but the overall experience was not great. They came and picked me up, which is fantastic, but I had to wait over 30 minutes for my car since it was off getting an oil change. Not a huge deal luckily for me but not great start. The car was nice and when I returned it 2 days later they accidentally charged me $43 for prepaid gas, which I never requested. Ok not a big deal right? You can just reverse the charge back to my credit card. Well not so fast my friends. Apparently they can't do that because they have wait 24 hours for the charges to go through, this is according to the manager. I still don't think this is right but nothing was going to change it. The manager said I will charge it back tomorrow. As you might expect that did not happen and I had to wait for them to reopen on Monday before I could talk to Leon and fix it. So the best things I can say were my car was nice and it was clean. The people were pleasant but man the experience was not great. I think 2 stars is pretty accurate. read more

We have rented cars from Enterprise about 4 times per year to go on long trips. Each time we select a car we need, like a full-sized sedan, or an SUV, we rarely receive what we order. Only once in seven years did we get a full size truck that we ordered. So, we know when we go we will get what we get. Last time was a pleasant surprise of a brand new Dodge Dart with only 72 miles on it and that new car smell. It was a little small for a 19-year-old to travel in the back with luggage for 2000 miles, but he didn't complain much. read more

Reserved a vehicle online approx. three weeks prior to trip, for a 9:30 a.m. pick up because we wanted to get an early start as we had an 8 1/2 to 9 hour drive ahead of us. Get there - no car. Only car on the lot was a full size pick up. Was told we could take that and switch out on the road. We politely declined, as that was not going to work for us. Manager assured us he would get us a car. Went home after about 30-45 minutes. Big mistake. Three hours after our scheduled pick up time, we call back. Very irate by now, and chewed out the manager. Called us back 15 minutes later, saying he would deliver a minivan (supposedly all he could come up with) to us in 30 minutes, gassed up and ready to go. Vehicle arrives and the rental agent does a quick walk around with me, noting no damage. Paperwork is signed (after having to remind them of military discount). Open the door and nearly get knocked over by reeking stench of cigarette smoke and it was filthy, with dirt on the seats and grass and debris everywhere. Tried to flag them down but no luck. We had already been delayed for four hours at this point, so we decided to spray it with odor killing spray, load it and go. Spray didn't work. Called from the road to let manager know condition of vehicle and just how frustrated and angry I was at being treated so poorly. Manager said he would make it up to us but actually offered us nothing. Dodged our calls asking him to help us secure a car where we were vacationing. Two days later we finally switched out that absolutely disgusting vehicle ourselves at the airport in Charleston. That was a major hassle too but it did get done. Nice car for the rest of our vacation and a comfortable ride home. The following day after returning, went to Enterprise to make sure deposit had been refunded back to us. It hadn't, so they did it then.We did get an additional $50 refunded to us but that was small compensation for all we went through. Not the first time something has gone wrong with an Enterprise car rental for us either; about a year ago we had to return the first car because the LOW BRAKE FLUID light came on by the time we reached the stoplight on Whispering Pines. They gave us a much smaller car (claimed it was the same size) with zero options on it; not even electric seats or a CD player. Very uncomfortable riding too. Three crappy cars ( two of which should never have been rented out in the first place) in two trips in a little less than a year. Called corporate office and spoke with a lovely woman who said she would pass all the information along to the regional manager and he would contact us. Never happened. WE ARE DONE. The worst Enterprise store on the planet. I wish I could give them a negative star rating. Inept, Inaccurate, Inefficient, Ignorant, just plain BAD! Making the reservation was difficult because we wanted 2 cars delivered to the local airport on a Sunday, when the store is closed. They acted like they had never done that before even though the national ad says "We'll pick you up." They put me on "HOLD" for 10 minutes while helping others customers. I hate that. Then they only take partial information and have to call back for credit card information. Fortunately both cars were at the airport before we arrived. The next problem was at the end of the rental, 5 minutes before takeoff, they call for credit card information which I had already given them prior to the rental. Almost immediately they email the receipt to me. They mistakenly charged me for all of the optional insurance for two days. I called, the voice on the phone said he would take care of it. He didn't. That was on a Tuesday. I call back on a Thursday and they put me on "HOLD" again while they help other customers. By this point I'm furious. Take my name and number and call me back or just say "We don't want your business". When someone else finally picks up the phone he says the same thing as before, "I'll take care of it". I'm still waiting and it has been 4 days now for a task that should take 10 minutes. Enterprise should fire everybody and start over especially the manager for allowing such BAD service. NEVER AGAIN! I rented a vehicle on 6/10 for a weekend trip to Nashville. The car was clean and staff friendly, the car drove great and was perfect for our trip. I get back on Sunday 6/12 and begin cleaning out the vehicle and go through the glove compartment to make sure nothing is left behind. To my surprise, I find what appears to be a crack pipe stuffed inside an eyeglass case. I drove all weekend and over 900 miles of interstate with drug paraphernalia in the car. I leave the car in the parking lot and keep the keys so I can go in personally Monday morning to point this out. I asked for the manager and he came out to the car to see the pipe for himself.
