I would give this location a negative five stars if possible. Be very cautious when renting a vehicle here. There is one employee who adds extra items to the rental agreement without asking--such as fuel charges and insurance. This behavior feels dishonest and unprofessional, and his attitude is unpleasant. He seems intent on increasing the total cost of the rental in any way he can. Additionally, the vehicles aren't inspected before customers leave, and they are often not clean. read more

I made a reservation two weeks in advance. Fifteen minutes before closing, the day before the rental, Lindy called and said they didn't have a car for me. I called back and nobody answered. I called the following day and was put on hold for 35 minutes. I gave up and literally went to Enterprise, right across the street. Even short notice, Enterprise got me on the road. Sadly, this is the second time this same Hertz office cancelled on me the day before my pickup. If you want to scramble for a solution last minute and risk your plans, go ahead. I rented a car in Birmingham, AL and did a one way drop at the Hertz Daphne, Alabama location the following day. They are closed on Sunday, so I followed their instruction and used key drop. They instead tried to charge me for 13 days, and $1700 additional, saying I returned the car in Atlanta (impossible as I was thousands of miles away by then). Note that the location does not answer their phones, and Hertz does not talk to anyone about past rentals- instead referring you to a web form. I've had to involve Chase Visa. On Reddit, there are multiple complaints about this problem with Hertz. I recommend avoiding at all costs any drop offs with key drop as it is a problem with this vendor. After many years with Hertz, I am done with them and moving on to Avis. read more

Hands down the worst experience. Renting vehicles for over 30 years and in many countries but this had to be the most frustrating and near my hometown. Simple incompetency and lack of a corporate standard to be a manager assistant L.C. Booked vehicle on line. Told me they couldn't take my points, then said system is down and when I explained it's a corporate account and already reserved. I was told sure we can do the backup paperwork if we must but we don't t have a truck for you. System is wrong. Parking lot had 3 and thought system was down? Just went downhill after that. 1 star is too much. I give them 0 stars. This place is an absolute joke. We booked a 4x4 expedition max three months before our trip. When we picked it up Lindy the sales gauranteed it was 4x4 even though it didn't say it on the vehicle. WRONG! We were in the North Carolina mountains and was fortunate to find a local Enterprise car rental to provide us with a 4x4 vehicle. When I called to speak with the Dillan the manager about being lied to be Lindy, he could have cared less, and when I asked for a credit he basically said tough shit. The employees are incompetent & don't give a shit about anything. Do yourself a favor and rent from anyone else. Also over charged me with a bait and switch. Quoted me one thing and then charged more. They didn't car when I called them about that either. Stay clear! read more

Terrible location. Cars are habitually not ready at the rental pick up time. Have had multiple occurrences of having to wait 30 plus min after the pick up time to have them clean the car. Picked up a vehicle yesterday at 4:55 that still had a bunch of trash in it and wasn't cleaned, walked back to the office and they locked the doors at 5. Tried to call the location to no answer. If anyone rents a car I don't recommend Hertz in Daphne. They will charge you charges they were suppose to get from my insurance plus get money from the insurance and still charge you for that amount to. Then I was trying to find where the vehicle was cause I left a sentimental item, my brothers Bible, in there and they don't even know where the vehicle is. If it were possible to give less than one star I would. Unbelievably terrible experience at Hertz last week. Reservation made and paid for entire rental in advance online, then printed the receipt which clearly states 'pickup time 12:00 pm, October 26, 2019'. When we arrived the rental office was closed and right on the door was a sign that says, 'Office hours - Saturday 7:30 --12:00'. I called the toll free number and after multiple menus and waiting an operator answered. I told her what happened and she suggested perhaps we could pickup from another location, and I said fine. Silence. I then asked if she were still on the line and she said yes ... so I asked her where else could I go to pick up the car and she responded, "Montgomery?". My response - "Montgomery is over three hours away". Her - "Birmingham?" Me- "that's over four hours away". Her - "Huntsville?". Me - "that's SIX hours away!!" So just to end the drama I agreed to pick up the car Monday, putting my trip behind over 24 hours. My wife and I arrived at the rental office promptly at 7:30 am Monday morning and we began the process. I attempted to inform them about the severe glitch in the system that allowed this debacle to occur in the first place and the response, (from the male staffer), was "we close at noon on Saturday". I told him I knew that because I was HERE Saturday. He then tells me that if I had showed up earlier I could've gotten my car. That's when I held up my printed page from the Hertz web site instructing me to pick up at TWELVE O'CLOCK. His response: "we close at noon to work at other locations". I told him I didn't CARE. I was told to be here at noon and they were closed and didn't HE care that this could happen again and again? That's when the attitude came out -- he responds, "I understand, but we always close at noon on Saturday". So...my wife, who had been sitting there in the lobby the whole time tells him, "you may understand but you don't CARE if it happens?" The male Hertz staffer's response as he was point a finger at her: "you hush! You hush up or just leave!" That was the moment I stepped between my wife and the insubordinate Hertz guy and warned him to NOT SAY ONE MORE ******* WORD TO MY WIFE. That's when he threatened to make me leave, which I didn't. So -- all I can say is after over 30 years working in the claims division of State Farm Insurance, dealing with thousands of people and vendors, including rental car companies, I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect. Rest assured, I will never give Hertz the opportunity to disrespect me or my wife ever again. read more

I rented this car because I was already being taken by Ford Motor Co and my car was in the shop for the 5th time recently. I needed to extend the car rental for 3 more days because I had to go evacuate my daughter from Slidell due to hurricane Ida. When I extended on their website it said that I would only be charged an additional $5.15 because I was already at the weekly rate. I dropped the vehicle off on the due day and had them email my receipt. I checked my email later on to find that Hertz has taken me for a $275 windshield charge and has also over charged me for the rental which was prepaid for through Priceline. He says that because I rented it through Priceline but extended through Hertz I was charge an additional $300 for 3 extra days. I was pretty emotionally distraught after hearing more horrible new within the last few days. Yesterday a tree through my daughters home, Ford Motors and now being taken for by Hertz. I explained to the man at the front desk that I would have noticed if I cracked the windshield because I would have heard it. There was a small bullseye there to begin with but it did spread in the heat. After seeing me cry and have a slight break down he proceeded to accuse me of damaging his car and lying. I have never been treated this way especially by a grown man with so much hate and anger. He knows nothing about customer service and only about takin advantage of you. Company knew they were in oversold situation however took and confirmed my reservation anyway. When I got to the location on Highway 98 I was told that I was 14th in line at 13 before me that we're not able to get their cars either.
