I am not sure if I have every had this bad of an experience with a rental car agency in my 30 year career and traveling. The clerk did not listen...when I tried to give her my Enterprise in for simply walked away...she then advised I was getting a mini van....I advised I did not need or want a mini van.....she told me she was going to check what I could get into and walked away again...this time never returning. 1 hour and 10 minutes later I contacted another agent...who looked up my reservation and said "they are cleaning your mini van now" I gave up - the service light kept notifying me it need an oil change.... Made reservation online for pickup today. We when arrived, we were told they didn't have the car we reserved. The only call was today confirming we would be there before they closed at 6pm with insurance, ID and credit card. The call was around 5:00 pm. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is one of the worst places I've ever dealt with. Josh Cancelled the reservation made by caliber collision at shop. They were Around 21 minutes late for shuttle pick up, said I made them feel "uncomfortable" by asking where they were and how long would it be because I have a 2.5 year old and it's 88 degrees outside. Keili or Alicia Hung up on me while asking this. The driver Alex then arrived going slow as molasses walks by me and my son(only people outside and I'm looking directly at him) and comes back out the door half way and say oh you are waiting for me? I said yes sir I've been waiting for over 20 minutes. He started yelling and said I will not even take you in my car if you will ask me such a question. He also told me because I dropped my car off at 9 and requested 930 was my problem and he didn't care a single bit if I missed my job today while finally taking me to enterprise after his outburst at caliber. Of course, after you guys calling me twice for an exact time, making my son and I wait that long, hanging up on me, and then the driver telling me I should be thankful for a shuttle ride to the shop and I'm lucky I was even let in the car..... I'm not going to be pleasant with you. I didn't need this service or want to deal with this company to begin with since terrible reviews from multiple sources. So I hope you enjoy the video that will be posted, given to your regional manager, and the bad review(s). Absolute power trip, management was laughing, and apparently had some preconceived notions about why I was there. I like to give praises where due in the business world. This is not one of them. My wife and I had a series of problems with the Enterprise rentals we contracted following my wife's no-fault accident. Our insurance agreed to pay for the equivalent of a Honda Pilot for a 2 to 4 month period of rental during repairs. Then for various reasons we exchanged the first rentals due to smoke smells or inadequate size or uncomfortable seats (my wife had major surgery just before she was rear-ended). On our 3rd of 4th rental car (a RAV4) the dash displayed "Maintenance required. Return to dealer". Enterprise then told me to "return the car to have it switched out". Four times we went to Enterprise but their computers would not let us get a different car because we were told this was our 4th rental. We could not remember the 3rd rental of a car they said was a different color RAV4. State Farm only listed 3 rentals for us. On April 17 Eric told me Enterprise did have the State Farm authorization so I went to switch out the car on the 18th. Kevin told me there was still no authorization, but he said he could reset the Maintenance message display which he did. But the car was there at least two other times but He did not reset the display. I complained about the way Enterprise had made it difficult to get the authorization from State Farm to switch out our rental. Manager Josh Hall said, "Would you like us to end it?" I wanted to be clear what he meant so I asked, "What do you mean by ending it?" Josh said he meant have us turn the rental back in and leave without a car. I was stunned by the reply and told him I had never experienced such an attitude from anyone selling a service and that we were following Enterprise rules. He said he was "just trying to help". What a jerk. I told him to look for his name in a review. State Farm told me they sent authorization for another rental larger than the RAV4 we had so I took it to Enterprise to switch out (as Enterprise had told me to do). But when I got to Enterprise, Josh Hall took my key FOB and refused to give me another rental. When I asked him why he was being so mean, Josh said I had told him I was going to give a negative review and had called him a "jerk". I explained that I called him a "jerk" because the first time I met him, he said he did not think he could make us happy and that he could just take the car back and stop the rental as a way of "helping us". Josh did not know all the experiences we had had firsthand but had made his mind up against us. This whole time I was going by Enterprise rules concerning replacement cars. I am a 79 year old veteran and Josh never offered to have me taken somewhere to get a car, he just deserted me. State Farm and Enterprise told me it may take up to two days to get my Enterprise car closed out for State Farm, but it took 13 days before State Farm was notified that we could get another rental started. I think Josh deliberately took steps to delay our rental closeout as a vendetta. He is very passive-aggressive. I went to Hertz and immediately got an Edge SUV that suited our needs and had not been smoked in. I do not plan to return to Enterprise after using them exclusively for over 30 years. read more

I had a horrible experience with Enterprise. I was recently in a car accident and suffering from muscle spasms and fractured ribs. My car insurance company, State Farm, is covering my rental and told me not to pay anything to Enterprise. I have been constantly harassed by Angie, Nick, and Alexis at this location, requesting additional money for the rental that is being covered by State Farm. They have gone as far to contact family members and threaten to say the vehicle has been stolen even though they are receiving payment from State Farm. I am currently in a Premium SUV. The negotiated rate with State Farm is $26 / day instead of the usual $55 / day. I work full time and have 2 young kids. This harassment needs to stop. read more

The lady that works there is awful. Extremely rude and does not care about her job. I had a confirmed reservation. They called at 450 right before they closed to tell me they can't fulfill the reservation. I called back just before 5 asking about next steps or what do I need to do and this lady could not care less about me or my situation. Which I'm trying to get a last minute rental home for my grandmothers funeral. Asked her if other locations had a similar vehicle available and she said "I can't see that. you can call the other branches and find out." Offered to transfer me to corporate and then hung up on me. I'm assuming because it was after 5 and she no longer had to wanted to help me. So I called back in the morning and told her what happened and she called me a liar and that didn't happen. Told me I was rude and disrespectful then hung up again. So I called the Charlotte branch gave them my reservation number and the professional rep there told me I'm sorry but your vehicle type is not available in the area. None of the other branches have it. The Belmont branch straight up lied!! Don't use this branch it is not representative of the enterprise standard of customer service your used to experiencing. read more

2016 Nissan Altima - the vehicle was picked up this morning with advance notice that we were coming. The vehicle has food crumbs in the seats, sticky spots on the gear console and brown spots on the steering wheel. The outside was clean and carpets have been vacuumed. We plan to have this vehicle for a week, it will need a wipe down before I get back in it. read more

I have booked a rental from this location online on two different occasions. The system allowed me to book the reservation, emailing me a confirmation both times. Each time they have called me the day I'm supposed to pick my car up only to tell me they were sold out of the car I happened to reserve and have cancelled my reservation. No offer to find a suitable alternative, just cancelled. I will never rent from Enterprise again. If they are sold out of a vehicle, why allow people to reserve the car thinking they have it? read more

I was able to make the reservation and take care of almost everything online. When I got to Gastonia Enterprise I was able to walk in and have everything ready for me. I was on the road in about 5 minutes. And drop off was even easier. The location was closed so I just parked in front and dropped the keys in the drop box. If I could choose no stars at all I would have. Customer service with these employees does not exist! Rude and liars are what they are. They change the rules of renting the vehicles and putting deposits on them every week. Consistency is not a word they recognize. They don't care about your money and they will tell you that. If you choose the extra insurance they also tell you it a certain price but what they leave out is that it is that price per day! So if it's $49.00 for the insurance it's $49.00 X ?days. That is ridiculous who can afford that. I had a car from them for two weeks $49.00 x 14 days = $686.00 um no thank you. My vehicle was in the shop being worked on do they honestly believe I want to pay almost $700 for their insurance package In case my full coverage insurance doesn't cover everything. They are idiots! Worst customer service ever. Employees do not answer the office phone, took me almost all day to get an answer, headlight was out in rental I had and was told they would bring me another accommodating car by the next evening. Next day afternoon I had to go back to the office to pick up another car with my sick son instead of them bringing one to me like told, smaller than the one I had & doesn't accommodate my family of 5, after I refused insurance through them guy just got my initials on form & walked away. Didnt help w/ my things from one car to another so I had to change over all my stuff w/ my one year old by myself. Very bad experience with this Enterprise location. I picked up my rental that I had reserved months in advance and it had a very strong smoke odor. I took this one back to get a replacement and was given "what they had available" on the lot which had not been cleaned, had a 1/4 tank of gas and guess what, smelled like smoke again. I took this one back and cancelled the reservation. I was still charged for 1 day rental which I am still currently trying to re-coup, but have not heard back after a week. I was just at Enterprise, of course to pick up a rental car. Upon arriving there, we were trying to park and an employee driving a car tried to cut around us to park before us, which resulted in him almost hitting us. When we went inside, we told them what had happened. The manager ignored us. The guy who almost hit us made excuses. And another employee walked up towards us trying to come off as imposing and threatening. We were not looking for a fight, were not children, but that's the way he was behaving. After the guy rolled his eyes and made a fake apology, he walked away, and the manager acted as though nothing happened and changed the subject. And then calling the store afterwards, she claimed that the issue had been resolved and that everyone had sincerely apologized which was not the case. Luckily my mother in law works for a major insurance company and will be able to lodge a formal complaint with corporate. I would not recommend going here, obviously. read more

I rent from this location at least once a month. I wish I had another option. It always takes a long time to get the car. The choice of cars are always limited. 95% of the cars that I have rented from there are not clean. The inside of the cars a mess and they smell. Some of them have holes or stains in the seats. The last one I rented a week ago had a mechanical issue and they let me take the car anyway. I returned it within 15 minutes. If you make a reservation for a standard size and you get there and they don't have a car in that size, they don't give you a free upgrade, they charge you more. It's their fault they don't have anything in that size. read more

First I will say that the staff was very pleasant and helpful, the car however.... After driving it for two days I had it out at night and roaches started coming out. Many. It was absolutely disgusting. Now I am fearful these creatures have made their way into my home. Had to have the car towed from where I was as I was not getting back into it after a couple of roaches crawled up from between the seats into the cup holder. My experience was not good with this location in particular and with Enterprise in general. This location initially provided a very dirty car that smelled like an ashtray (mid-size). I was late for a meeting so I accepted the car. This was replaced the next day with an SUV upgrade that also smelled bad. I had to drive 45 minutes to this location because the Iocation closer to me did not want to change it. It seems that they have different standards across locations on what clean or scratched rims means. They behave like individual businesses. I accepted the second car and after driving it for two days I found out that my car will be in the shop for another 5 days. I had a longer trip coming up and needed a sedan so my wife can drive it. It was impossible to get one as an existing customer. I offered to pay extra just to get another car and contacted multiple Enterprise agencies, but there was no way to get another car, even if as a new customer I could make a reservation online and cars were showing up as available. I gave up after one more day and went to Hertz, payed extra and got a clean Camry that did not smell like smoke or like someone threw up in it. How hard is it to get a Camry from Enterprise if you already have a car from them? Impossible. They would rather loose you as a customer then making you pay more and exchanging your car. I am sorry to say that I will never use Enterprise anytime soon. read more

My experience with this location was probably the worst yet. I had a reservation for vehicle for a minor fender bender that was being repaired at a local body shop there in Gastonia. I traveled from Columbia SC and was assured that I would be taken care of when I arrived. The body shop called to Enterprise to come and pick me up and they were there within 8 minutes or less. Diane was very pleasant and very easy to talk to. When I arrived at the store I walked in and was greatly promptly. The young man asked me for my information and all seemed to be going well. Then he goes to grab a set of keys to a Dodge Ram truck and then tells me that that was all that they had. If I had been the only one driving the vehicle and was going to be driving locally I probably wouldn't have minded. But the vehicle was for my wife and we had reserved a full size vehicle for her that would be easy for her to drive. So I called my wife to let her know the details and of course she too wanted to know why there wasn't any other any vehicles that would work. But we definitely did not want the truck. So I told Jeff that I could not use the truck and I would need something else. He then shrugged his shoulders said ok and walked away. So I called back to the body shop to let them know that I would need to come back and take my car and later reschedule the repairs. The lady on the phone called her manager who then got on the phone with the guys over at Enterprise to see what could be done to accommodate me. In the meantime I overhear another consultant tell a customer that the Enterprise near the airport came and took 8 of their vehicles because they obviously needed them more than they did. The manager then appears and asks me my name and reassures the guys over at the body shop that they did have something for me to drive and that they would make the situation right. So he walks outside and comes back in to tell me that they only have a Dodge Ram, a minivan and a very small compact car. However I would be charged the same rate for the vehicle even if I took the smaller car. By this time I am not wanting to hear anything else from them. So I called for my sister to come and pick me up. I probably wouldn't have been so upset had we not made arrangements the day before and they knew exactly what time they could expect me. Had I just shown up and they hadn't known I was coming then I wouldn't have had any other choice but to take what they had or look elsewhere. Customer service here doesn't exist here at lease with the folks that I dealt with. No one offered to take me back to my car or to even see if we work something out. I doubt this response will get back to the owner but if you are looking for a place that will take good care of you and make sure that they have enough vehicles to accommodate its customers then this is not the place! Not to mention I had my 9 year old son with me as well. It was as if I were bothering them and that I should be happy to rent whatever they gave me.
