I drove over an hour to get a car for a week for vacation to find out I couldn't pay with CASH...really WTH do we even have cash for...to use it to spend, right??? WRONG- not here anyways! I had just switched purses to an over the shoulder for safety purposes for vacation and didn't have my cards on me so I asked if I called my daughter and she read my card info to me, could they enter it manually??? NOPE!!! WTF??? While dealing with this stupidity, another gentleman walks in, coming from an HOUR AND A HALF AWAY...they were having problems with the card he had on hand and he too asked if they could MANUALLY ENTER A DIFFERENT CARD FOR HIM IF HE WERE TO GIVE THEM THE NUMBERS...NOPE- and they proceeded to state we do not have capabilities to enter a card manually!!! This location is EXTREMELY busy! But they always maintain Exceptional customer service! Good selection of vehicles, although you may not get exactly what you want, they sometimes substitute a different size. I travel regularly for business and always use this location. The farther in advance that you plan your trip, the better success you will have getting a vehicle. If you wait until the day that you need your rental, they are usually fully booked. read more

Enterprise sucks so bad someone in one of there rentals hit me and they can't even offer me a rental. Enterprise is such a joke that they didn't make sure who rented a car had sufficient insurance so now they're giving me the run around. How does it make sense a million dollar company can't cover me for transportation or even pay me for totaling my car and I'm the one that has to jump thru hoops for help. Id give 0 stars if I could!! Made a reservation to get a car to drive home as my vehicle broke down and I needed to have it towed home. Person over the phone did not tell me my Visa Debit/Credit card from my bank could not be used. I wasted time having someone drive me to pick the car up only to be turned away because its not from a credit card company but from my bank. This is absolutely absurd its still a credit card and works as one. So now stuck scrambling to find a way home 3 hours away as I have to work tomorrow. I booked a car through a third party for a noon pickup. On that particular day the place closed at noon and while it is partially my fault for not checking the hours, when I arrived at 12:05 having never received any kind of indication that they were closed, I spotted the owner and his buddy smoking a cigarette right next to the door, who proceeded to say "we're closed, I'm sorry" repeatedly. My family needed to travel thru multiple states for a funeral. Calling ahead, they made it seem like all we would need to do is go in, pay, and sign for it. When we arrived, manager Jay Collins proceeded to gaslight us, saying we didn't meet any of the prerequisites to pay for the car--insisting that I could not pay and refused to run either my credit or my bank card. He insisted we provided him with a utility bill without a balance. Folks, I've never received a bill from any utility company telling me I didn't owe them money... have you? We left & went to the Enterprise on 250 in Waynesboro and they took good care of us (the difference between how we were treated between the two locations were night & day suggesting the issue lies in manager Collins). I cannot in good faith recommend Enterprise on 11 in Harrisonburg. Avoid at all costs. The emotional roller coaster of not knowing whether my family would make it to our grandmother's funeral was devastating at the time. I've contacted National, and until I can get confirmation that no one else will have to suffer what my family endured in our time of need, I will recommend friends & family to other franchises. read more

Enterprise sent me to their truck rental division; after hours on a Sunday for a rental the next morning. These guys went above and beyond. OMG I returned rental I had on Jan. 18. I was billed for the 19. Called spoke with associate. Received apology and was insured I'd be refunded for the 34.14 . Well looked at my bank statement. Was billed again for the 20th. This is after I overdrawed when paying a bill. Because they are charging me for a vehicle that has been returned. Now since they are closed today my card will be charged again for the 21 and 22 before being able to talk to an associate. That is 136.36 their taking. Which all will be overdrafts. So Enterprise is literally screwing up my account for there fuk up. I even spoke with them yesterday thought I had all settled. How they didn't see vehicle sitting rite outside door the first day I have no clue. They confirmed it was returned in time and would be refunded. But their still billing me. Two weeks ago I set out to move across the country. I thought I had all my bases covered, the moving van, the driver, the rental car reserved to go to the airport. It was a Sunday and there was an unexpected snag in the plan when we ran into a delay picking up the moving truck. This caused us to be late picking up the rental car and made it necessary for another driver to take the wheel. Kelsie at the South Main Enterprise was an unbelievable help to us adjusting our reservation, adding the additional driver information and patiently keeping the doors open until we could get on our way. Harrisonburg, VA location on South Main is horrible. I rented a vehicle late one evening right before closing. Walked around vehicle with employee. We discussed damage on RF wheel. He was walking away and I called him back to the front and I pointed out a crease in the front bumper cover where it appeared to have ran into something or been backed in to. He assured me both would be noted. They show you nothing and they give you no paper to review. You sign a tablet and.an email comes.at a later time. Upon day of return, I called to inquire of closing time and was told 6pm. I told the person I would need a ride to pick up my personal vehicle at a nearby shop. I was told ok. At 5:15, I called to advise them I was near and asked them to arrange a driver as the auto repair shop that had my car closes at 6. Young lady who answered was very rude and argumentative telling me they stop return rides at 5:30. I informed her no one told me of that. I told her I was told they close their services at 6. You could tell she was upset When i arrived, they went over car in a more detailed manner than normal, as if to prove a point. Man checking it came in and told female I had words with to come out to the car. I could tell they were looking at front of vehicle. I went out and asked if they were looking at the crease in bumper. They said yes. I told them I had reported that at pick-up. They checked and claimed nothing but wheel documented. Man who delivered to us was not working. They got in touch with a male on the phone. I could tell by the female employee's side of the conversation he was having trouble recalling the transaction. It ended with her telling.me he didn't remember me pointing it out. I am not sure they even called the right employee as they relied on my description of him, not any record they should have making.it clear who handled our rental. I will engage a good attorney and battle this out. Renter beware!! read more

Ive been an Enterprise customer for the last fifteen years, but after the way I was treated by the manager, Jay Collins, I won't ever be frequenting their company again. I have never had such poor customer service. I reserved a van, and when I went to pick it up I was told that bone of my three credit cards was approved to pay ... not because of balance issues, but because they couldn't accept them. One was venmo, and they don't take that, apparently. Another is a direct express master card, which I use to manage my SSI payments. I was told they couldn't take this because it was "Like, welfare or something." The third is a joint account, and they wouldn't approve it without both of us there. I told the rude manager that I had never had a problem before, and he said "Well you might have gotten away with it before, but not this time." Absolutely the worst experience in car rental I have ever been subjected to. read more

I have never encountered such rude, slow, and lazy employees as I did at this Main St location. I was sent there by National, who I rent from, to swap out a car with expired tags. After horrible service, I had to call National back and make other arrangements. The folks at National said if these people didn't have a car that would work for me, to have them call and set up a different swap, but the woman refused, saying she couldnt call because she didn't have their number. !!!! I said I could give it to her and she said she couldn't call anyway. No one else was waiting (though I'd already waited 30 minutes). Even the National employee who helped me later was shocked that the lady here wouldn't call them to make the arrangements herself and was "just being lazy." I'll never rent from Enterprise. I made my rental reservation with Hertz because they offered a better rate but I really enjoy doing all my rentals with enterprise so I asked if they could match the price and they were able too. Hannah is super great about being flexible and her whole staff is really nice and willing to help. I think because it is a pretty rural location it can be hard to get a same day rental but I don't blame that on the folks in the store. I have been using this specific location for a year even though the market one is closer and I will continue to use this one. read more

We reserved a van with a rack on the top. I called two times a week before I needed it and the manager said there was one. When we went to pick the van up there was no rack on the van and he would not help me figure this out. The Harrisonburg manager was rude and very unprofessional to us. I thought I was gonna rent it only few days but when I told them my truck wasn't done yet at international dealership they we're very nice in working with me , when I turned it in a week later they didn't hesitate to give me a ride to dealership. the guys working there are very polite & courteous . read more

Not the best customer service. First issue - I was immediately put on hold for 6 minutes when I called and when I hung up and redialed was again put on hold. When someone did pick up, I was told by the the young woman on the phone that they were closing, even though it was 15 minutes until closing time. Then I was told they do not do pick-ups close to closing time. I explained it was an emergency and that I was close by - nope, she said, not doing it. When I asked to speak to the manager, she promptly told me I was waisting my time and she could "guarantee" he would not cut me any slack. While the manager would not help with a lift, he did agree to remain open until I could get there. When I arrived 10 minutes later, the woman said "they don't have drivers on weekends to pick people up" - which is news to me since it is not mentioned anywhere within the Enterprise website. Also, what's up with charging me a deposit on my credit card????? I rent all the time and have not had this experience before. I have rented from many other Enterprise locations in the past with good results. But this location is certainly not up to spec, and having now looked at the Yelp rating and comments, I think I'll skip this one next time. read more

if there were ten stars I would give them ten - Steven the branch manager just helped me arrange a new rental after her purse was stolen along with her rental car keys. He was so friendly, professional and knew exactly what we should do - Now less than 5 hours later, the first rental is towed back, with new keys being ordered and my daughter is back in class after getting a new rental. Staff at the Harrisonburg office was very friendly and prompt, got in my car quickly. The only concern I had was that the car had an obvious cigarette smoke smell about. I hadn't specifically asked for a "non-smoking" car, and I don't even know if Enterprise has a policy against smoking in their cars, but the lingering odor was annoying. Perhaps it was residual from the employee who had cleaned the car just before I was given the keys. read more

I take offense to the policy in place that asks to bring "utility bills" when you are considering to rent a car. Having rented at this location before, my credibility should be common knowledge, and the personnel who greets you with friendliness UNTIL you begin to do business with them is offensive. Horrible customer service - I suggest you choose another location in Harrisonburg, VA. I was to be picked up at 12:45 pm as previously confirmed by phone. I called several times, as the pickup did not come. Finally at 1:20 (35 minutes later) they drove by me (I had called and told them I had walked to the corner of Port Republic and Portland Drive to make an easier location for them). I had to walk back to my location on Portland Drive, I had also done the online checkout to save time, but at the counter, the male associate was more interested in jumping off his stool (three times) and hunting for something on the floor, than processing my rental. Finally a female associate took over. While waiting for them, there was a discussion with the pickup driver about how he had disappeared for lunch. I heard all about his getting BBQ at a food truck, on and on about the price of half of a chicken, etc. Instead of getting me, took an unscheduled lunch break. All of this made me 45 minutes behind schedule, and I had a 2:30 meeting in Charlottesville, VA which I was late for. I returned the car in Lynchburg, VA and made another reservation for the Friday to Monday weekend special online. When I called for pickup Friday afternoon, I was told they had no cars, and that they could pick me up first thing in the morning (today). Their driver would leave at 9 am (I am less than 10 minutes away). I was not picked up, and after trying from 9:15 to 9:40 to get someone on the phone (no answer). I gave up. read more
