Enterprise has some the best rates in town, at less than $50/day off-peak. I booked a reservation online, and the day before an agent called me to confirm and answered my questions about tolls and COVID precautions. (Their cars generally are not equipped with an E-ZPass transponder, so you can just pay with cash and avoid getting hit by the TollPass fee. As for my request to get a car which hadn't been rented in several days, the answer was that most of the cars have just been sitting idle since it's been a slow time of year.) The agent who served me in the morning of my rental was friendly and efficient. She didn't try to upsell me on any optional services, but rather just presented them on a tablet and I could decide for myself what I wanted. The car I got was a slight upgrade from the class I chose and was very clean. I asked about after-hours return and she showed me the drop box to return the keys. When I went to return the car that night, the parking lot was full already. Both the local branch and Enterprise corporate were out for the day, so I went to ask the front desk of Candlewood Suites (which owns the building that the Enterprise branch is part of). The concierge was rude and unhelpful, and clearly didn't know what she was talking about. When I told her the lot was full, she suggested that I should park in another lot, but didn't give any specifics. She then claimed that Enterprise would give them a list of cars expected each night for security to monitor, and that my car wouldn't be part of the list. That made no sense, as I had made it clear to the Enterprise employees that I would be returning it that night. Finally, I reasoned that it was probably fine and that Enterprise wouldn't tow their own car so I parked it in the middle of the lot and hoped for the best. I called back the next morning and confirmed that they had received the car back safely. The behavior of the Candlewood employee is not Enterprise's fault, but I will deduct one star due to Enterprise failing to advise their customers that it is OK to double-park if the parking lot is full (a very real possibility, it seems). Maybe they should also give some instructions to the Candlewood people so that they are equipped to answer basic questions after hours. read more

Small, but convenient location inside the Double Tree on Marin Boulevard in Jersey City. Literally it's one person at a desk helping you, so I wonder the wait would look like if there were ever more than one customer at a time. The girl manning the booth was so friendly, helpful and efficient. I received a complimentary upgrade and the return was seamless - took all of about 2 minutes. Best rental car Experience ever! These guys are professional, kind, and efficient. Booked a car for a weekend out, arrived at their office and in less than 10' I was in a brand new car that I had picked among the ones they had sitting in their parking lot. After-hours drop off made my life super easy, returned the car on a Sunday afternoon while the branch was closed, left the keys in their key box, and that was it. Not only did they give me a subcompact car (think one without cruise control!), they also gave me an E-ZPass that has absolutely no discount when crossing Holland Tunnel. I was charged the full $15 amount when crossing Holland Tunnel instead of the discount rate of $10.5 even though I rent a car in NJ and Holland Tunnel is managed by PA of NY and NJ. UPDATE: Not to mention the gas tank is practically empty when they gave it to me. Not a big deal but it could be done better. UPDATE (11/15/2017): After emailing Enterprise customer support on 10/15/2017, I received an email from Enterprise promising that my case has been sent to a Regional Vice President. A month went by and no more response. All talks and no action. read more

This Enterprise location is located within the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Jersey City. You will find the Enterprise table in the lobby. There is only one Enterprise representative available and there is a line even if you don't see the people. They're just sitting down waiting patiently. I went in at 10 AM on a Saturday morning expecting to get my car at time. By the time I was finished checking out my rental car, it was about 10:40 AM. If you are in a rush, I recommend going early to pick up your car. The office opens at 10 AM and already there were 3 people ahead of me. All of the cars were parked in the hotel parking lot. The lot is small so parking is limited. When I returned my car, I had to park it in the fire lane because there were no other spaces. Rates are varied. My weekend rental for a mid sized car was about $50/day. Compared to other rental agencies, this seemed to be a fair cost. Although business hours begin at 8 AM Monday morning, the agent said they would be available at 7:30 AM. I arrived early and was able to just drop off the car key in the drop box. The agent later followed up my rental return with a phone call letting me know the final amount of my charge. I found the weekend schedule and operating hours a little limiting but overall Enterprise provides a decent service. read more

There are some helpful guys, but overall not great service. More importantly, cars are HORRIBLE and they try to downgrade you no matter what. Don't even think about an upgrade even if you should be getting one. I don't even think you can get a full-size car with power seats or leather interior. Also be ready to wait at least 30 min for your sub par car. If you try to ask questions about your car you will get nowhere. No apologies. Just a terrible experience. Hertz and Avis in the area, though with many problems, have way better cars. read more

I rented a car from them last month for a week and very impressed with the friendly service of Corey, their Assistant (?) Manager. He was very helpful in explaining all the details (went thru insurance), and when I wanted the loss damage waiver off on the few days that I wasn't going to use the car, he was kind enough to walk me thru the process and took care of it. There was no wait to pick up the car - which I got for a great rate - and I was asked about insurance options without the usual pushy upsell. Drop-off was just as hassle free. Dropped off a car rental here from BWI airport on our trip to Manhattan, Financial District, New York. Knowledgeable and friendly staff for a stress free car drop off. They also asked the hotel front desk to call a cab for us. Beware of Budget Taxi. When they cross to NY, they turn off their meter and charged us $70 for 4 miles. read more

2 hours wait in the parking lot trying to pick up a car. I understand it's Covid. But the business does not seem to even make an effort to alleviate the inconvenience for customers. Signage in the parking lot is poor. There is a sign saying please wait for assistance. But nowhere does it mention you need to check in with an employee. This is a good option if you are renting from NYC and are looking for something more convenient than the airport. I rented from here and found it very easy to get to from the path train. I scored a pretty good rate, and got a free upgrade because they did not have the size I reserved available. The staff was very nice, and even called to remind me they close early the day I was returning to remind me...don't see that kind of service from an airport rental company. When I returned the car, it was pouring rain and I was kindly given a ride to the path train by an employee. I would definitely rent here again, if I got a good rate. BEWARE!!! Never. Never rent from this location. Looks like this location commits fraud on the regular bases according to many other reviewers. My story is not the only one unfortunately. They charge you for damages on the car that were there before. When I got to this location it was raining hard and was getting dark. And it was almost closing time. So when I did my walk around a car checking for damages I couldn't see some misalignment on one side of the front bumper and some damage on the very bottom of the rear bumper. The paint was perfect. No damages. So I signed the iPad and was on my way. Two days later I returned this car in Dulles Airport, in D.C. The day was bright and the Enterprise rep instantly pointed at these damages. My daughter and I were in shock. We had no accidents. It was impossible to still have no scratches on the car and have these kind of damages. Looks like it could be painted and just left like that. So the "nice lady" in D.C. suggested not to worry since my insurance will pay for this. Excuse me? I have not done anything to this car. When I called them a few times no one knew anything and it was just a waste of time to listen to the same b.s. FYI it was black Toyota Camry. I also have multiple pictures of this car and damages as well... I wish I've read all these reviews before renting a car from this place.:( UPDATE: I've got a letter saying that the case was investigated... REALLY?!?! $1,107.38 down the drain... I am absolutely disgusted. I usually LOVE Enterprise. Not today. First, an unsafe car that they rushed to put me in b/c they did not want to upgrade me. Next, an hour out of my life to change the car after nearly getting into an accident. Finally, a "promise" to please give them a chance and they will "make it up to me." Apparently, not this morning. I am so turned off and disgusted. Got the message from a worker there b/c the manager was too busy apparently to uphold his promise. Another "he's very sorry, but he can't help you." I called in to say I was going to be about 45 minutes late for my reservation which I was told by Billy would be no problem. When I arrived, I was told that the last car in the class I reserved was rented out at 9:53 (my reservation was for 10 o'clock). Boy am I glad I was late because when I asked, he confirmed I would have been waiting until then anyway. So I tried to call corporate which routed me back to the location. I asked for the manager, Julian who came strolling out a few minutes later. I asked him who screwed this up and his first response was to tell me that actually, since I was late they would usually have usually canceled the reservation. But he went on to explain some government contract superceded their delivery, ok had that been it fine, but he then went on to inform me that they don't "build cars there" ...really guy? I just laughed at that point (I didn't think to ask why they hadn't mentioned that there would be no cars available when I called at 9 50). I then said, "there are no other cars on the lot? " To which this man loudly said in front of the growing group of people waiting in the rain, in a very dismissive tone "Not at $40 a day, i looked at your rate" . I pointed at the first car in front of me and said... and this car? He then said in another dismissive tone "this one's 125/day" i just said ok because I needed a breath before I made a decision. I have plans and couldn't wait because they didn't even tell us how long it would be until the next delivery of cars would be in. Just because I'm thrifty doesn't mean I can't afford to do what I have to do. So I called back in, spoke with Julian and told him to write me up for the land rover, and he sent an employee out instead of coming out himself. I'm 4'11", I obviously don't fit well in a land rover and I'm not enjoying it but plans had to be taken care of. I have used enterprise 4 or 5 times over the past year at different locations throughout Jersey City and never had a problem. This location and management are a disgrace. I will not go back to this location and I will try to avoid enterprise all together going forward. Also, just in case corporate reads this, the employees were lovely. They were able to move up my reservation and get me in the car early, even though it was the day before thanksgiving!! Upon return, they were able to help me with some tire issues I had and it was perfect. This location has allllllll my rentals from now on. I live in Brooklyn and will still go there just for them. Unfortunately after several positive experiences with enterprise was disappointed that when I brought my car back to a different dealer I was told I was Being charged for paint damage on the kick plate that was present on car when I rented it but was not documented by Jake who works there. His prep guy did not show up that morning and he rushed through the check out ... When I pointed to some of the chipped paint he remarked "Oh don't worry about that" I informed enterprise that I would not be paying for the pre-existing damage and their response was to send me to collections while it is not cost effective I have retained an attorney ..I rather pay them the 700 dollars than pay for damage I am not responsible for... Take heed always photo the car with your smart phone in front of the dealer! And again on return. This is unfortunate ... I used to be a fan. #######%%%%% UPDATE... This is the only place that helped me getting cars easily. I have been renting vehicles from them since September 2016 to May 2017 though out many times. Thanks to Manager at Jersey City branch (at Candlewood suites office) and all wonderful folks for the excellent service every time. Thanking one of the most helpful agent, Isis D Gonzalez for managing most of my bookings. When ever there were little glitches and dissatisfaction they make sure to complement me with something nice like a free upgrade, a free fuel tank, or something better. I have been so comfortable and it has been a nice experience driving their vehicles. The vehicle and key drop off facility + the EzPass rental has been useful for me. They even drive me back to my work place after I return a car early morning, all these little things add up and they know what customer service is all about. Completely satisfied and would recommend the place to anyone with no doubt. Charges are bit high compared to any other place but I feel that is what you pay for quality service. If you wonder why did I give 4 stars after all this good comments? I feel they go from excellent to super duper excellent with the following improvements. * Charges go ridiculously high in summer. almost 3 x than regular rates. * Sometimes I get dusty cars and as a car guy, I expect to be cars clean and shiny all the time. * I would be happy if I had the option to select and request a specific model I want rather than getting a random vehicle that falls in to a certain range. read more

Would not recommend going to this Enterprise location, they charge you an extra day if you drop of the car even a few minutes late, even if they are closed. Suggest going with the many car sharing apps like Turo which are much more flexible and user friendly. read more

I love Enterprise. The deals are better than zip car and the people are very friendly. They work so well together in such a tight space I wish the company would give them a proper area. I paid $58. For a day. I parked the car in the overnight night lot and it was processed as soon as they opened. I recently became part of the Enterprise plus plan which gives perks to repeat customers. The perks are very few but the people that work for the company even on the phone make it worth it. My favorite locations are 3715 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City, NJ 07307- they had walked out the store but reopened it when they saw me about to drive off . I didn't ask because I know how it is. They were so sweet about it. Candlewood is also amazing -stay away from the airport Enterprise. Trust me it's nothing like the others read more
