I rented the car for two days, it was pretty easy and smooth on a Friday morning. The location is very convenient, right by the F train and easy access to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was one of the cheaper gas options with unlimited miles, so the agent did his usual to upsell. They were not pushy though, which was good. Everyone was nice, professional, and chill. Two days prior to my reservation I received a call that they did not have a car available at their DUMBO location so I needed to now go to their LGA location. All the man on the phone could say was "there's nothing I can do" and was less than helpful. When I arrived at LGA at the time of my reservation the attendant informed me that there were no cars available and did not know when the next car would arrive. I ended up cancelling my entire weekend and spent the next 3 weeks calling and emailing customer support to get my full refund, I am still dealing with their support on reimbursing me for the cab fare to and from their LGA location. When I called 24/7 roadside assistance I got an automated number that sent a link that did not work. We were out of state and had to replace all 4 tires out of pocket and were told we would get no refund because we took full responsibility for the car when driving off the lot. I was bombarded with multiple confirmation emails and messages that all said essentially the same thing, and two representatives called to inform me that I needed to pick up the car from a different location because the original one was overbooked. Drivo has great rates, and my drop off was super easy. Let's starts with rates. Rates are way less than anyone in the city. The catch is that if you have to get insurance and want full coverage, it's $70 a day. I went with full coverage since I only have non-driver auto insurance. You can have them check to see if your insurance provides coverage by scanning a QR code that is in the office. I had an 8 am pickup on a Friday. There was a couple ahead of me. I had to wait for almost an hour for the car. To the guy's credit, he was by himself and had one guy getting cars. I did dealers choice and got a hundai Elantra. Fine to drive and great gas mileage. Car was clean and had no issues. I took a video of the car just in case. No problems on the trip. Got back to Brooklyn before they closed on Sunday so I didn't have to drop off Monday morning. Usually in these types of situations, you don't expect the item to be found, especially when its a $1500 camera. I didn't have time to deal with following up due to another trip to Alaska. When I got back two wks later, I sent a UPS prepaid shipping label, box, & bubble wrap and Diyor returned my camera. It arrived safe/sound today. Diyor stayed in contact by text and let me know they had it, would take care of it until I got back, and even called to remind me. All the hidden fees were disheartening. If you travel to certain states there is a $15 fee for everyday you're in said state. There also wasn't a gas cap on the vehicle and the steering wheel shook really bad at just 68 mph. They also charge $39 a day for insurance which is insane to me for a rental. Absolutely unacceptable rental experience. I rented a Toyota Corolla through what I understood to be Ace/Drivo. The car was delivered approximately 5.5 hours late on Friday, which already made the rental experience frustrating and unprofessional. Beyond that, the car they eventually provided me smelled of cigarettes and was completely different than the car I had reserved weeks ago. Then, on Sunday, when we needed to drive home, the car would not start. We thought it was a battery or mechanical issue, so we went through the hassle of getting jumper cables and trying to jump the vehicle. The starter would not even turn over. For hours, we were stranded and could not get meaningful help. Even worse, Drivo apparently had no record of our rental agreement or the vehicle VIN, making it impossible for anyone to provide basic assistance or even explain what was happening. Only after repeated calls did someone from the York Street office finally tell me the truth: the vehicle had apparently been remotely deactivated because of a glitch in Drivo's fleet system. In other words, the car was not dead because of anything we did. It had been disabled by Drivo's own system while it was in our possession -- and no one bothered to notify us. So to recap: the car was delivered hours late, then remotely disabled during the rental, then Drivo failed to identify the rental or vehicle for hours, and we were left stranded trying to solve a problem entirely created by the company. This was not a minor inconvenience. It was a complete failure of basic rental-car service, communication, and accountability. I would not rent from Drivo again. read more
