The one in Glenview is very unethical ! I had a confirmed reservation which was doubly confirmed by the enterprise rep Libby. They approved my reservation. After I provided my insurance claim number and they vetted it with Allstate. I was set to pay a reduced insurance claim rental at $73 per day for a mini van even re confirmed the day before with Libby. When I went to pick it up they did not honor it. The manager said they had too many people renting minivans for college moves and that I could rent one but not at the pre approved insurance claim rate of $73 instead I would have to pay $125!! Oh the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IS GOING to have a field day with this one as I have everything documented including my insurance company backing me up! BIG mistake Enterprise! BIG!!! read more

I booked a car under my insurance claim as my sons car was totalled. The agent asked for the claim number and approved it all and i was set. A day earlier i reconfirmed with a Libby at this location and everything was fine. Upon arrival they did not honor the reservation and came up with false excuses saying they had no more vans due to college moves, that my claim was closed [COMPLETELY FALSE] It is still active and i called my insurance again to reconfirm. As he saw i was so upset that a confirmed reservation was not honored and no one ever called me to tell me there was any issue in fact, Libby confirmed it again the day before, he then tells me he has a van but he has to charge me full price $125 vs $73 the discounted claim price. WOW how unethical how wrong in every way. This place used to be good but its gone south and now they lost another customer who lives 2.5 miles away. HORRIBLE in every way. I travel locally for a work and it's more cost effective for my employer to rent a car than to reimburse mileage. I've done two long term (four or five week) rentals in the past few months. Both times the reservations were made through my employers booking system and I had no issues picking up the car on site at the Glenview location. The process for both picking up and returning cars is quick, and they've always been adequately staffed. On each occasion, I was also able to chose from a couple of available cars, which is a plus for me - I need something to schlep a few boxes in but don't need something overly large for just me. I should mention that the registration was expired on the first rental. I called right away when I noticed, less than 30 minutes after leaving this location. They didn't have the updated registration and assured me they would look for it. I never heard from them - and I had the car for four weeks. Not a fan of risking being pulled over on my daily travel (and I understand that Enterprise would be ticketed, not me - but who wants the hassle?), I changed cars after four weeks. The staff tried to convince me to keep the same car despite the new reservation and *still* lack of updated registration (by the time I returned that car, it was five months expired). Customer service has generally been good. Cars have been clean. I have another rental in a couple of weeks and then will need cars again in the spring. Enterprise is our preferred rental company so I'll be back as long as this makes sense for my job. ...But also? Someone should remind their manager that there's still an indoor mask mandate in Illinois. Regardless of how he feels about that or COVID, he should put a mask on for customers' benefit as long as the statewide mandate remains in place. I booked a car online to be picked up in Glenview. I booked an suv for one week and received a confirmation code. My husband went to pick up the car and not only did they not have the car we reserved, they had no cars of that size and no solutions. There was no apology, no phone call, only an attitude of "nothing we can do." When I called later to ask how it's possible to run a business this way I was repeatedly talked over with a very vague apology. I received the most racist and deplorable service at this location. I got a rental car as part of an insurance claim. A few days after someone hit my car in my children's daycare parking lot and scratched the side. I called enterprise immediately and let them know and they state I don't need to bring the car in right away as long as it's drivable. When my car was ready for pickup, I went to return the rental car and of course brought up the scratch as I knew about and they did too.. the manager proceeded to accuse me of REPAINTING the bumper. Said the paint was bubbling? The only thing I did as a courtesy was take the car to a $7 car wash and vacuumed out the inside due to my kids being snack lovers.. and even that I didnt have to do! I was in shock and confused at what he was talking about. 1. I'm a mom of two kids who goes to work and does daycare pickup and drop off daily.. who has time to take a car somewhere to paint the bumper? 2. If I'm Reporting a scratch immediately and I have insurance to cover the damage why would I leave the scratch but pay someone to paint a bumper or try to do it myself ? I kept persistently denying his accusation and he kept saying well did you take it somewhere? Well it's there? I'm shaking at this point and pointed out the woman who checked me out when I got my car. i repeated over and over again that she checked the car with me for scratches larger than a dollar bill and nothing was mentioned of the bumper. He was finally forced to bring her to check the car out and she said she can't remember so they aren't going to pursue it. I'm curious, what is there to pursue? Where are the photos from when the car was dropped off last or where is the video footage of the car before it was given to me? You have no way to prove it yet you are accusing me, a black woman of damaging something with no proof? If I was white or with my white husband would this have happened. The most disgusting and embarrassing experience I have ever had and pray they learn manners, courtesy and respect. The manager had a smug on his face the entire time as if he was laughing it me Defending myself like a child. So inefficient here. Cars are old and not well cared for. After calling to make sure our car was ready to pick up, we still ended up waiting almost an hour because it was not in fact ready at all (still needed to clean it). They tried to give us a really old, high-mileage car when an newer one was right next to it. Even the "newer" car had lots of preexisting issues. Oh, and picked it up with an empty tank! I would give the Northfield, IL office and manager Katie Strong a 0!!! This is the worst run Enterprise I ever had the misfortune of using! I had a reservation for a small car at the Wheeling, Il office. They called the previous day and switched me to this Northfield, Il office---it was closer to my hotel, so I agreed. Katie offered a large car i did not want--then made us sit there for an hour and a half!!!!! A car never came for us! She is rude, has a terrible attitude, and a car never arrived for us! She said she offered us a car, but I turned it down! Yes, i did--I do not drive large cars. The office was jammed, there were no cars, and after a hour and a half of her having us wait for a non existent car, I ordered an uber which never arrived. I went back in to tell Strong I need the car, and she she gleefully told me she gave it away!!! I called corporate and am waiting for the Regional Manager to contact me. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS OFFICE--THE WORST! KATIE STRONG NEEDS TO BE RETRAINED, CHANGE HER ATTITUDE, AND TRY A LITTLE KINDNESS AND CARING. State Farm has a deal with Enterprise that covers the full cost of the car rental while your car is being repaired. Unfortunately I have a family and needed a bigger car for Memorial Day weekend. I was quoted $116 to upgrade for a few days and they said I can swap the car back out for the small one right after. When I got back they swapped it out with a very small car as expected. However, then they charged me $355 for the total rental after State Farm paid them $500. After returning the vehicle they claimed the little car wasn't fully covered either, we called to get the charge revised to the original agreement and they claimed the original agreement wasn't possible and reimbursed a mere $38. You have to go with 1 star for any service provider who doesn't honor their commitment. C'est la vie.... read more

Update: I got our I-Pass out of the car, but forgot to hold it to the windshield a few times. I received an e-mail which stated that they were going to charge me $20 for our missed tolls! I replied back that I understand charging us for missing tolls, but there's no way we racked up $20 worth of missed tolls! Seriously! Maybe $8, $10 at the highest most, but no way $20. I just looked at my credit card bill, and there are 2 separate charges: 1st = $1.90 (which makes sense) 2nd = $21.90 -- WHAT?!?! There's no freakin' way. Well, 2 lessons learned: 1) next time I rent a car, make sure I either have our I-pass in the car, or find out what their policy is for paying tolls. 2) Go with somebody other than Enterprise to rent from next time. read more

Ryan B at this location provided the best level of service -- by far -- that I have ever received at any car rental company. He could not have been more helpful throughout the entire process. The level of service was so high it was almost baffling. After I received our rental, I was compelled to go home and send his manager an email, which I have copied below. The point: if you need a rental, call this location specifically and ask for Ryan. You will not be disappointed. Email I wanted to send you a note to acknowledge the incredible level of service that we received from Ryan B today. I know Enterprise is among the upper tier of car rental companies, but the level of service from Ryan wildly exceeded my expectations. Ryan called me literally within a minute of the insurance company approving my rental. He walked me through the options, gave me practical guidance on the situation, and was incredibly pleasant and easy to work with. Most importantly, he found me a high quality automobile in an extremely short period of time. He then forecasted within the minute of when I should show up to pick up the car. And then when we showed up, before I could even get out of the car, he was waiting for me, knew who I was, and greeted me with a smile, a handshake, and a very clear game plan on how to get us in our car so we could be on our way. We signed the paperwork and we were out of there in no more than 15 minutes. And it was not rushed at all - he just knew exactly what he was doing, which made the entire process incredibly efficient. Candidly I could not have imagined a better experience. When we receive that level of care and responsiveness, I want to make sure that those responsible like Ryan do not go unnoticed. I just completed a rental here through an insurance company claim, and wanted to say that Ali and the other personnel were very helpful and made the process as painless as possible. I was in a car accident the other day and the body shop stated that the vehicle should not be driven, so I arrived at Enterprise without a reservation. The personnel there were able to arrange for a vehicle, negotiate with the other person's insurance agency on obtaining a larger rental vehicle more comparable to my own, and get me on my way quickly. Always only 2 staff members working so they can conveniently say they are unable to pick you up or drop you off. Management obviously takes reservations and knows how busy they will be in order to have sufficient staff to work this location but clearly this management is all about the $$$ and not the clients they serve. Got a super rate on a Suburban while my Magnum got some rust repaired at Techny Auto. "They pick you up", take you back and get you in and out of the door. This reminded me of a Seinfeld episode. "You know how to TAKE a reservation, you just don't know how to HOLD a reservation." I reserved an economy car via Priceline. When I got there, there was only an SUV. I said I really didn't want to be spending so much on gas, so the agent told me I could bring it back half full, no charge. Well, first, it had a funky smell like a smoker had used it. Then I couldn't figure out the AC, and it was really hot. I pulled over, and of course there was no manual in the glove box. I finally figured it out but it took a while. Also, I had no idea if I was bringing outside air into the car or if it was recirculating and the symbol used certainly didn't help...and again, no manual. Then the fun really began. After my third stop, the car wouldn't start again. It said to hold the fob up next to the button. I tried both fobs and at all angles, pushing the button with them. It said it did not recognize the fob. Nothing. I was giving up. I called and told to say I wanted the car picked up. I was both talking to agents and on hold on and off for about 20 minutes. I got out of the car (too hot) and then got back in and it miraculously started. I kept the car but was nervous about driving. Meanwhile I stopped to get my phone charger to use apple maps, since there was no navigation. The charger didn't work! I barely made it back to my hotel that evening, with phone battery almost completely drained. The next morning, when I went to return it (a one day rental fri/sat) it wouldn't start again! I finally got it going after numerous attempts, and made it to the rental agency around 12:10 (which was actually a bit less than 24 hours later) and it was already closed. I saw a box for keys, so I called the customer service number and explained I did not want to be charged for more than a day. Once again, I was on the phone for a long time with a woman, who ASSURED me I would only be charged for the one day, and to leave the key fobs in the box, as I did. I asked for an email from her to confirm I would only be charged the original amount. She ASSURED me she would send an email stating that. Well, I never got the email, but I did get a statement emailed to me stating I was being charged for THREE days and for GAS. To make all this worse, it was originally charged on a car that was no longer valid, because the accounts were being switched to a new bank. Just seriously, the WORST rental experience ever. read more

If I could rate this place with NO stars, I would! The Customer Service is deplorable! I have a Fleet Car, so whenever my vehicle needs repairs the Fleet Service arranges for me to get a rental. I normally deal with the Enterprise in "the city", but since I work in Glenview it only made sense to go with the location nearest my office...or so I thought! I specifically asked the Fleet Service to confirm a car would be available at the time I needed to make my drop off. They called Enterprise and was told the Enterprise office was "right next door" to the Service Center, so no problems with meeting me there. I arrived at the Service Center and called the Enterprise office...spoke to Anton (sp?) who said, "I will be there in 10 minutes". After almost 20 minutes I called back. Again spoke with Anton who was just a wee bit surly and proceeded to tell me he was "the only person" there and as a consequence, he could not pick me up...further, once he picked me up he would need me to go to the Enterprise office to complete the paperwork. Mind you, NONE of this was conveyed initially. A full 45 minutes later, the Service Center gave me a ride to my office... Now, I am stranded at my office...reliant on the obviously inept team at Enterprise to bring me a car sometime today.... Not a pleasant feeling! read more

Worst experience ever renting a car. My husband picked the car up as our 2014 Escape is being worked on at Bredemann Ford. Erika did the walk around with him, they are both short. She marked two dings on the door and that was all. She then told my Puerto Rican husband that he can't use a debit card to rent, that is a lie as I've never had an issue using my debit card to rent. They rent to him eventually and when we return they 'discover' a dent on the roof. Now in order for her to see this dent she climbed up to the roof, because she's short, but she DIDN'T climb up there when she did did the original assessment. I asked if they had a data base for all of these dents they discover so they don't have to constantly do 'walk arounds', they do not. My point is that if they have to do a walk around every time and they don't see a dent, some poor schmuck, like us, foots the bill and they do it all over again to the next guy. Terrible experience with Enterprise. I rented a 2021 Suburban from the Enterprise branch on Waukegan Ave in Northfield and drove to the east coast. The vehicle broke down on day 4 of an 8 day trip. Road side assistance was quick to pick up the broken-down vehicle, but could not provide a replacement vehicle. I was sent to three different local branches (I had to pay for Uber rides) with promises from customer service that a vehicle was waiting for me, and each time the local branch manager was shocked that I was sent because there were no vehicles available at any local branch. In fact, the local branch manager and the customer service rep ended up yelling at each other on the phone as I stood there. I lost days of vacation dealing with this nightmare, I ended up stranded on the east coast, I'm out of pocket for Uber rides and other costs, and Enterprise was never able to provide a replacement car. I had to borrow a friend's car to get back home - 1000 miles added to my friend's car! Never an apology from Enterprise, no follow up calls from their customer service/roadside assistance, even after they supposedly "escalated" my situation to the highest level. It's unbelievable that Enterprise will take new reservations, but will not help a customer on an existing contract who is stranded because their vehicle failed. I've visited the Northfield branch many times over the past five weeks to complain. The immediate response from the branch personnel was to suggest it was probably my fault that the car broke down. The branch manager then promised to look into the matter and would call me back. After days with no call back, I ended up visiting the branch every few days and was told each time that a credit would be issued but unclear for how much. The branch manager finally called me two weeks ago with the good news that I was getting a full refund, however only half of the refund came through and no one can give me assurance as to if, or when, the remaining refund will be processed. I'd like to escalate this on my own but the branch will not give me the regional manager's contact information. I've left several messages for the branch manager, he will not call me back. I've wasted so much time, effort and money on this. I've lost hope that Enterprise will set things right. So much for Enterprise's promise for superb customer service. read more

I was extremely pleased with the customer service I received at Enterprise in Glenview. Jason, the manager, was very courteous and accommodating when I rented my car. He's a new manager and has it under control. I recommend renting from this Enterprise for anyone who is in town. Renting off site from O'Hare saved me hundreds of dollars. A taxi ride to Glenview is $29.00 and with the money you save, you can put that towards your visit. That's what I did. It's always a great experience when renting from Enterprise. I use them on vacation and recently used them for a week rental after my truck was totaled by an inattentive driver. The staff was very helpful with walking me through the process of having the other person's insurance take care of my rental costs. The Ford Explorer was a fantastic replacement while I searched for my new vehicle. Afraid I did not have a nice experience with this Enterprise. Our Jeep got hit by a snowplow and we needed a rental. We were encouraged to work with Enterprise by auto body shop. The shop working on our car took twice as long to complete the work so we were already dreading the bill (one we knew we already would have to chase for payment with snowplow company). The rental car cost was steep but most disturbing was coverage cost tacked on that I declined. I rent a lot and I never take coverage. The response was that "well I did take it because it would not have charged me if I had declined". I shared that when the gentlemen asked me if I wanted coverage I said no. Manager said nothing I can do which I know is not true. I've rented from Enterprise a lot. Very disappointed in this customer service experience - especially since I know the error could have been rectified. read more

I recently had the need to rent a vehicle from this location because my car was in the body shop as the result of an accident. All the employees I dealt with were friendly, professional, and more than happy to make sure I was satisfied with my rental experience. In addition, they were very conscious of following Covid-19 precautions so as not to put their customers @ risk. The first vehicle I picked up was a very nice fully loaded Nissan Rogue, but unfortunately a former renter had smoked in it - despite the signs inside the vehicle that specifically said no smoking. At first I thought I could just deal with the smell, but since I had to rent for a few weeks I decided the smell was just too overwhelming. I called Enterprise when I got home and they told me to bring the vehicle back and they'd exchange it for me. When I went to pick up the "new" rental, they didn't have any similar SUVs available so they offered to deliver one to me the next morning. I opted to take a different vehicle instead - a VW Jetta - and found it to be well-maintained, clean, and smoke free. I was very satisfied with the rate I was charged and the vehicle I received. I hope I don't have the need to rent again soon, but if I do I won't hesitate to rent from this location. read more
