It was my first time in Pittsburgh much less in winter. I was rather anxious because I wasn't experienced when dealing with the possibility of snow and ice on the road. Because I planned to visit Fallingwater and other sights outside the city, I reserved a compact SUV from Enterprise for a week. I found their kiosk in the parking garage with relative ease, and they assigned me a 2025 Ford Escape (Photo 1). While the service rep was cordial, he merely pointed me in the direction of the vehicle. Since I wasn't familiar with the model, I struggled finding it, and he was already working with his next customer. Here's where my experience fell short as I would've appreciated a quick tutorial or at least a walkthrough of the dashboard. I honestly couldn't tell if the gas tank was full or even how to fill the tank. I eventually figured it out through trial-by-fire on the freeway to my first hotel, but it didn't boost my confidence. By comparison, I just had a car rental experience in Okinawa where the employee checked my rental car in painstaking detail and patiently walked through the features. Now that's what I call platinum service. Fortunately, the Escape served me well during the week. I found it easy to drive even during below-freezing temperatures, and I was pleasantly surprised how well it handled city traffic congestion and narrow parking spaces. Returning the SUV was pretty straightforward with no incident, and I did figure out how to fill the tank. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. I reserved a Full-Size SUV (Tahoe class) weeks in advance because we were flying internationally into Pittsburgh with 7 passengers, including 3 children, and 5 large suitcases. When we arrived, Enterprise told us they had no full-size SUVs available. The only vehicle they could offer was a minivan. With all of our luggage, the van could not safely accommodate everyone, leaving us in an impossible situation after a long international travel day with exhausted kids. We had no realistic choice but to take it. What happened next was even worse. For the next three days, I repeatedly contacted Enterprise to arrange the swap I was promised at the rental counter. * I was told someone would call me back within an hour. No one ever called. * I called back and was told there was no record of my request. * A new request was supposedly entered, and I was promised another callback. Again, no one called. * The following day, I called again and was once again told there was no record of any previous request. * I was told a regional manager would contact me. No one called. * I was then transferred to Roadside Assistance, who informed me they couldn't help and transferred me back to Customer Service. * Eventually, I was told to simply drive from Enterprise location to Enterprise location myself looking for a replacement vehicle. Because the vehicle we received did not meet the needs of our reservation, we ended up borrowing a friend's vehicle and driving two cars everywhere during our family vacation. I understand that rental companies cannot always guarantee a specific make or model. However, if you reserve a vehicle class, you should receive a functionally equivalent replacement or a reasonable solution. Instead, I spent hours on the phone over multiple days repeating the same story because none of my previous requests were documented, and none of the promised callbacks ever happened. The lack of communication, follow-through, and ownership of the problem was far more frustrating than the initial vehicle shortage. I sincerely hope Enterprise improves its processes so future customers don't have to spend their vacation trying to fix a problem that wasn't their fault. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: Issue Resolved, but the Experience Was Rough My experience at the Cherry Hill location was extremely frustrating. The office was understaffed, and I was told to leave the keys during drop-off, as I was headed to the airport to catch a flight. Later, I was contacted about "damage" I never saw, and a month later I received a $750 charge for a 1" scratch on a $165 rental. With a spotless driving record and no incident during my rental, I disputed it. It took months of effort, and if I hadn't pushed so hard, I don't think it would have been resolved at all. The bright spot was the corporate representative who handled my case. He was patient, responsive, and stayed with it until everything was settled. I'm relieved the situation ended well, but I hope the Cherry Hill location improves staffing and return procedures so others don't end up in the same position. read more

Enterprise has a great feature that if you check in online, you can skip the counter and go right to your car for pick up. The two employees at the airport that we interacted with were super friendly and helpful. Zack was very professional and courteous. Had no issues at all renting here for our summer trip. Easy location under the airport. The car was ready when we arrived and performed great for our entire trip. We recently left a cell phone in an Alamo rental car at the Pittsburgh airport. Not knowing where we left it, we were on our way to purchase another phone when we received a call from Sharon Hummel (at Enterprise --- Both businesses work together there.) After a few identifying questions, she sent the phone to us in Florida. She was really helpful and kind. Too many of us sometimes receive poor service when we travel, but our experience was anything but negative. From picking up the car to returning it at the end of our trip, everyone we dealt with was exactly as you want and hope for. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The employees working lack all forms of what it means to be a customer service person. They gather together in huddles but are "unable" (unwilling) to do even the bare minimum service. They push everything back onto the customer and have total disrespect. The truth is you've got many other options at this airport, and all of those companies have actual employees manning their booth. Enterprise just has a sign that sends customers across the hall because they don't feel the need to do the minimum work. Do yourself a favor. Aren't elsewhere. We booked with Hertz but when we arrived on Saturday (5/27) there's only 1 lady who's working the counter. There's 7 customers in line & it took at least 15 mins per customer (the first 2 customers) to get helped. Decided to cancel my reservation & went straight to Enterprise. Very quick, efficient & friendly staff! In & out in 5 mins. Shoulda known better! Also, the price was the same so it's a win win =] read more

Never rent a car in Italy with Enterprise. They subcontracr the rental out to an EXTREMELY DISREPUTABLE agency by the name of Locauto. If you look at Locauto's reviews on Yelp, TripAdvisor, you will see how everyone reported getting scammed. I've been in contact with Enterprise about this business partnership and my experience in 2022. However, they continue to subcontract with Locauto and the terrible, scary, and unsafe reviews continue to pour in. I had just walked away from Payless because they claimed my reservation was cancelled. The service was night and day. The clerk apologized for taking a break and for the 10 second wait it took him to come from the back. When I went to pickup my car it was ready and clean. The person that gave me the car was friendly and quick to get me out of the garage. I drove back and was quickly checked back in. No problems and problem free. read more

Business travelers beware! If you want a one way rental at PIT you cannot book through Hertz or Enterprise. They have locations in Salem and Boardman Ohio and Elwood City, PA but will not allow a one way rental to any of those locations nor could the customer service agents I spoke with find one with 30 miles of any of the above mentioned locations. However, Enterprise would let me book a one-way to Salem, Oregon. Absurd! read more

When my car broke down on New Year's Day, this was the only Enterprise location that was open. They were cheerful and very helpful, and set me up with a rental in a jiffy. Because most people are coming from the Airport, I needed to go inside the terminal to secure the rental, but that's a short walk and then I came back to pickup the rental. Everyone is so very friendly at this location, and they are quite cheerful, even when they have to work long or holiday hours. I got a great price on a rental, and it was a clean comfortable car. Overall, not a great experience. We reserved a van ahead of time and went to the check in desk and all was good. However, as soon as we got outside to the parking garage to get our can, they gave our van to other people and none of their cars were working properly. So we then ended up waiting for about 20 minutes in the blazing heat for them to find a working car that we could take. They were not very accommodating in this experience. So I fly into PIT for a day and usually i rent with National because I have status and what not but this particular day they didn't have cars available so no sweat i chose Avis thinking I've used them and had status in the past. never at this particular location but it shouldn't matter. Little did I know i was totally wrong. From the rude lady at the desk to the time it took to get my car i was so wrong. The entire setup to get a car was slow and very inefficient. I go to the counter around 11:55 am it took until 12:40 to get into my car. Safe to say wont be using them again if I can't go to national. Not to mention there were about 15 other people just standing in the parking lot waiting. Unsatisfactory on every level. One thing to be aware of: if you Google "directions Enterprise Rent A Car Pittsburgh International Airport" and Steps sends you to "I-376 Business towards Moon" and Hangar Road THIS IS A RESTRICTED EMPLOYEE ONLY ENTRANCE and not how to get to Enterprise Rent-A-Car! Ignore those steps/directions and Google "Pittsburgh International Airport" (don't mention "Enterprise") and Google will send you in the airport's main entrance, which is what you want. I have used Enteprise in other locations before and I'm no stranger to the Pittsburgh Airport location. I had just come off a flight (just like everyone else) and I went downstairs to the Enterprise counter for my rental agreement and payment. There were seven people in line and only one associate working. It took a while to get up to the counter, which was pretty annoying, but the single associate was nice in our brief interaction. Once I walked outside to get to my vehicle, a young lady walked up to me and made the entire experience seamless. She showed me the vehicle, we walked around it to check it out for any marks/dents, and she had me on my way much faster than my time at the counter. The vehicle I was in was very clean on the outside and inside, which I appreciated. On my way back to return my rental, I just followed the signs for rental car return and dropped my vehicle off with ease. It was a less than five minute process and I was on my way into the airport shortly after. The customer service here was on point. read more

This Enterprise has the worst customer service I've experienced in a while. I read the other reviews about this branch being bad and I got to experience for myself. We didn't get the car we reserved and then was told by one of the agents to "have a nice day" to which I replied "F... off!" Sometimes you get so frustrated that you blow up and this happened to me today. Very frustrating and ridiculous. I will not use that Enterprise again. The staff is completely incompetent. It took 45 minutes to get my car. They initially asked me if I wanted a sedan or pickup which was a downgrade. Although the car I had reserved was onsite, they refused to rent it to me. They offered a downgrade for the same price. Then offered a discount but didn't apply it to the bill. I recently rented a car through Enterprise at Pittsburgh International Airport (Rental Agreement #338007931 Invoice # 90093555787). I had reserved a full-size sedan which was not available so was instead offered a SUV. I had explicitly mentioned that I did not want to pay any upgrade fee to the agent there. They didn't give me a hard copy of the agreement so I missed the fact that they had actually charged me higher(original: $234.98, charged: $375.92, $140.94 extra). I reached out to them regarding this (reference number: 170821-003667) but they declined to make any amends since I had digitally signed the new agreement. I have had upgrades in the past with Hertz and National for no additional cost when they did not have the requested car available. I find this incident to be a clear case of deception. read more

I travel a lot for work and often have to pick up rentals for long periods of time (3-5 months.) This is by far my best experience with a Rental Car place! I landed late (after midnight) and found the counter. They were quick and efficient with getting me the paperwork, which was great considering how exhausted I was. I then went outside to pick up the car. Casey helped me and she was EXCEPTIONAL!! Friendly, informative and patient. Since I was going to be driving the car for a few months, I asked to see various models, trying them out by sitting behind the wheel, adjusting the seats, checking out the trunk space. She was gracious and able to show me various features in the vehicles. I was able to find a car that perfectly suited my needs and had no issues with it for the entire 3 months I drove it. The return process was just as painless. I hope to come back to Pittsburgh soon for work and will definitely be returning to Enterprise! read more

Not only was its not available when I landed at the airport but I had to wait an hour in the cold while someone tried to find a vehicle in my reserved class. By the way, the price was much more $ than the others (Budget, Avis, etc.). Finally a car was brought from upstairs and since I was already late I had to take it even though it was a smaller vehicle class than the one I reserved. (No $ back either.). But the final straw was it reeked of cigarettes and that week I was unable to open windows as the weather was cold. Never again, Enterprise. read more

I was on a quick business trip and didn't have time to make a reservation. I rented an available car with good service although the overly thorough inspection always puts me off. Upon returning the car shortly before my flight due to business delay nothing worked well. The return lane was poorly marked and I ended up in the wrong area. After I finally got to the return area the attendant eventually showed up. The base cost was 25% higher than what the rental counter person told me. When I mentioned it to the return attendant his attitude was it's not my problem. I've use Enterprise at airports for a decade or more with generally good, but variable service. Pittsburgh airport is the worst. Time to pick another rental car company for my 8-10 trips a year. read more

*****RENTER BEWARE OF THE AMERICAN MUSCLE CLASS***** You will not get the car you expected as advertised. I decided to rent a car from their American Muscle category over the Christmas Holiday. The category stated a Mustang GT, Dodge Challenger SRT or Chevrolet Camaro SS. Beware you will not get any of these because the car I was given as my rental was the basic V6 Challenger as my American muscle car and I'll tell you why. After complaining up the Enterprise bureaucratic corporate chain I was finally bluntly and unceremoniously told that Enterprise does not invest in these types of vehicles and that since the small print says "or similar" that's what I was given, a similar vehicle. I guess their definition of American Muscle is a little more liberal than what most people would agree to. Not only was I out $129.00 a day for a car that was not what I rented or wanted but their little caveat "or similar" left me with no recourse. The price I paid was more than a BMW X5 by the way. If people are wondering why I didn't ask for different car/class on the spot is that it was on Christmas day and I was not about to ruin anyone's day by raising a stink since they were already working on Christmas day. I figured I would call the next day, have my contract changed to reflect new prices for the car that I did have and go merrily about my visit with my daughter. At airports I normally rent from National because the Emerald Isle is very convenient and easy to use and my original reservation was for just that, a full sized car for $69.00 a day. I was shopping in Enterprise because they participate in the Emerald Club too and when I saw this American Muscle class of rental it was just too good to pass up. Each customer transaction takes at least 10+ minutes as the single employee walks the customer to their rental car, discusses the rental, inspects the car, and signs all the paperwork. I rented a car at Enterprise via Costco for a one way (1.5 hours) pick up at the Pittsburgh airport to Fairmont WV and paid ~$200. First, they told us that the Enterprise office was going to close at 5:00 and that they might charge us for an extra day. We asked if they would call and ask if we could leave the keys there and the man told us that we needed to call. So we left in the rain and had no idea where we were going and my 78 year old mom was trying to help me navigate while calling the office to ask if we could leave the key and not be charged. Why couldn't they call on our behalf? I just don't understand that considering that they called us on Sunday and left a voicemail telling us about our charges. He works at the same company as the folks in Fairmont, probably had their phone number. I consider that to be customer service 101. 2) It was challenging in that they didn't accept my debit card even though I begged the man to use it. He wouldn't even swipe it. My 78 year old mom and I were desperately trying to get to see our relatives for a funeral. My mom asked if they could pay and he said that the card needed to match the name on the reservation. Funny considering that it was my husband's name on the reservation and not mine. He then said how about if we try to create a new reservation. He said he couldn't and then he turned to my mom and said "you'll need to make the reservation." Like seriously? We're standing in the office and you want her to take out her phone and make the reservation? He then recommended that we try Midas inside the airport. I could have cried. I finally said "wait, can I use a credit card from work?" He said yes and it worked. Huge sigh of relief and literally just wanted to scream, cry and run away from him. He then asked the lady to give us an upgrade. It was a total cluster. read more

As usual, Enterprise does a great job with customer service. It must be a trend. I haven't had a crappy experience at an Enterprise yet. This location is particularly easy because you don't have to take a shuttle to an offsite rental location. Just report to the desk near baggage claim, sign some forms, and then grab your keys and walk across the street to the parking garage to hop in your car. As with many locations, this Enterprise offers bottled water. All the sales associates were very pleasant. Best of all, when you return the car, the Enterprise stalls are the first ones you encounter in the garage. I'd definitely try to rent from them again when I'm in Pittsburgh. read more

Enterprise, I am sorry. Historically, a sole enterprise renter, I didn't realize the value, consistency, and reliability I was receiving as I had no alternative to base it off. Recently, I rented from a competitor, which can be left unnamed--rhymes with Smudget, because I found a "better deal" through a search engine. Without going into all of the ridiculous details, I was left with a much higher cost than estimated, (yet to be the case with Enterprise) a different vehicle then my "guaranteed model" selection, and most disappointingly a complete lack of customer service resolution process. Continually being told no one can do anything by the agent, I asked to speak with management, and was told they can't do anything either. Like many disappointed consumers, I just wanted to be heard. After understanding that nothing could be done, I explained to the agent that I simply wanted to speak with a manager, he agreed, and said they would call me between 24 and 48 hours from that time. Around 40 hours later, I received an email saying, "sorry, your case has been closed." I replied asking for said promised phone call, which a week later, I am waiting on. So, in order to find resolution within myself, I find it best to apologize to my reliable friend. Even if you aren't the most affordable at the time, I know you will be there for me, and for that, I am appreciative. Smudget case officially closed, thank you. read more

Nope, nope, nope. I'm a little sad my first review of the new year is a one star review, but hey, we can't all be winners, right? I rarely feel so perturbed that I provide a one star review, but Enterprise PGH deserves nothing more. Indeed, I would probably give zero stars if that were at all possible. Four words: no loyalty to customers. Between the months of September and May, I fly just about every week. I commute back and forth between Pittsburgh and Boston. For the past 2 years that I have been doing this, I have been an incredibly loyal customer to Enterprise. I would ordinarily spend well over $400 with them in any given month. The people behind the counter even began to get to know me. If you check out my previous review, you will notice my biggest gripe was the hiked prices. In the new year, their prices have outright DOUBLED. When I called to mention that I was a loyal customer and to ask if there was anything they could do, the lady told me the prices fluctuated daily and to keep checking back. She said that if they didn't fluctuate back to lower prices, to call back. She also encouraged me to sign up for Enterprise Plus. She said that all cars from the last 6 months would be figured in retroactively and I could earn points for them. I had initially been told months ago in the airport that I was not qualified for Plus because I was not a business. They are really disorganized and don't seem to know much about their own company. I signed up for Plus. The points were never retroactively applied to my account. The prices never went back to low prices between now and the end of February. When I called back, whoever I spoke to said lowering prices was not possible. I told her the points were not applied to my account. She said that their department couldn't help and she doesn't have any idea how the points worked anyway. When I asked to speak to a manager, the manager confirmed that they have no idea how the points work and that the prices were set. When I asked that she look into my account so that she could see how often I rent, she said she would and would call me back to see what they could do for me. She called me back and told me that she could offer to rent to me the lowest, bare-bones, bottom-of-the-chain car on a monthly basis, but that it would cost just shy of $1,000 a month ..... for a compact car. This is essentially would it would cost for me to rent it on long weekends like I have been anyway with their price increase. I could lease 3-4 compact cars for that price. I could BUY compact cars for that price. Who in their right mind is paying this much to rent compact cars every month? I explained that these prices were CRAZY and she said there was nothing more she could do for me and ASSURED me that the increase in price is due to taxes. Well, Enterprise, I've rented from Alamo for the past two weeks at less than half of what you're charging. They are the kiosk located right across the room from you. Why aren't they charging the same taxes? My gut feeling is that this increase is not from taxes. When businesses wonder why customers aren't loyal to them, it's because loyal customers like me get tired of being treated like this. You want consumer capitalism? You got it. I'm buying from the company that can offer the lowest price every time from now on. You lost a very loyal customer. read more

I went to the counter to get my car after an hour delayed flight, I was already tired and ready to leave the airport. The lady at the counter was nice and told me to head to the garage as they had my reservation. I went to the garage, and the lady walked to me to the car. They didn't have decent cars. When she asked me about insurance, I told her my company had insurance and coverage, but she charged me the coverage for some reason. I didn't notice it until I returned my car and saw the receipt. Thank you Enterprise! After taking a red eye flight out to see his dying grandmother, my boyfriend was poorly treated by the reps at Alamo. I had originally booked a car with Alamo with my card through Priceline, but the reps at Alamo wouldn't help him out as soon as they saw he had a Priceline receipt. So as I was on the phone listening to how unwilling those reps were, I told him to go to Enterprise and put me on the phone with the rep. After explaining the situation and asking if there was anything they could possible do for us, Enterprise came through. I regret not getting the reps name but, honestly, that's customer service when you explain all the options available and work with us to find a solution. Yes it was a little more expensive because of the drop off at a different location, but you know what, I'm okay with paying a little extra for great customer service. I had set up a reservation a month in advance. In retrospect, I can see that there might have been an issue because I thought that I set up a one-way reservation but no-where can I find that I really did. So I'll take responsibility for that. I stopped at the counter and was ready to go. Shock one was the one-way reservation fee. Fine, I'll deal with it. Shock number two, however, is that if you are doing a one-way reservation? YOU CANNOT USE A DEBIT CARD. Seriously. I understand the concern for a secured transaction, but wouldn't you think that a debit card is a lot more secure than someone who's got a random piece of plastic? You've got access to all of my banking information and a direct immediate withdrawal of funds from my account. Besides, maybe I don't have good credit, or I don't want a piece of plastic that's simply "in corporation we trust." I had flown a red-eye flight with a long layover for 3,000 miles across country, and here I was, with very specific and intensive plans and when they apologized and said their computers wouldn't let them and they called a manager up? All they could tell me was "sorry." I'm grateful that another location was able to assist me but "sorry" doesn't cut it. In my line of work, I communicate with Enterprise many times a day, and I see what they do with customers to make their lives easier and to help out. When you've got someone right in front of you who you have that opportunity with and you don't do anything? You lose that faith. You don't EVER tell a customer "no," you find out what you can do to assist them and make their lives easier. This location made me lose my faith. After their "no," I had to make my own calls to figure out my own rental and sort out a reservation that I thought wasn't a problem. Thankfully, another location picked up their slack, but that shouldn't be the case. It should be the same service across all locations, not a manager on the phone who's only response is "sorry."
