The vehicles are always clean and maintained, and their pick-up/drop-off program is great. I would give a -2 if was an option! Terrible service, car was filthy when picked up, cigarette ashes and personal belongings from previous driver left in the car. I had to leave the rental place and go vacuum/disinfect the vehicle. Disgusting service especially in time of covid. I opted out of rental insurance as my insurance company says it's completely unnecessary, not needed and just a means for enterprise to make more money off the costumer. Of course on return they happened to find a tiny scratch below car( the lady had to bend down and get under car) to find scratch and proceeded to tell me I hit a curb. I had no recollection of this and was the only driver. The lady told me don't worry it won't come out of your pocket now we will charge your insurance company!! Really, as if my premium won't increase related to an additional bogus claim. The scratch ended up costing $968.80 and the detailed claim is fixing parts on the car that are not included in the scratch. Biggest scam in the world. I will take the bus or walk before I rent another car from this enterprise location. Be warned do not go here unless you plan on paying to update their fleet of cars or if you plan on paying for their ridiculous insurance coverage. Worst experience ever. I rent a car at least once a year if not more. I will take my business and $$$ elsewhere in the future. read more

We rented a car August 22-25th 2014 and had a great experience with this Enterprise location from start to finish. For an upstate car trip, we took the train up from NYC (to avoid rental fees about 3-4 times higher in the City), and Enterprise provided shuttle service from and back to the train station. All of the staff were really pleasant and helpful, and they instructed us on the buttons and controls in the car, we all walked around the car looking for dings, and we agreed in writing before driving from the lot how full the gas tank was. A great business model and excellent staff. read more

My experience with this particular location hasn't been pleasant. I needed a vehicle and my aunt was dropping a rented car so I thought this wasn't going to be an issue and technically I can get her car. When I arrived, they told me that they had reservations for the vehicle which was a lie as they didn't know when my aunt was going to bring the car back. I ended up going to Wappingers branch and I was able to get a car but a small car. The following week i wanted to switch vehicles and again they could not help me as they lied to me once again which in my opinion because am switching a vehicle from wappingers. I just rented from Enterprise Poughkeepsie for the first time and I was very pleased with the service. There were quite a few people renting yet my wait was not long at all. A very nice man named Dan took me out to the car and ended up saving me lots of time by giving me much better directions than the ones I got from Google maps. Liars- STAY away- A 0 is what they should get. I was treated so poorly. Even told me to get off the property or they will call the police. I can't walk, they saw I was in a boot (can't walk) and waiting for a ride. I had a rental for a month. They were paid for Sunday which is the day they are closed anyway. Due to no ride ect I called and asked for them to give me the day Monday as a courtesy. I was told Yes they would give that day. They ended up charging me full price for the day even after given permission. They were so rude! I spoke to them over 30 minutes. The manager called the person who said I could and manipulated the conversation and twisted things. I told him I am not authorizing him to charge me and he did anyway. I reached out to the regional manager and felt he was talking care of the situation but he did nothing to help I see there is a charge of my credit card. I have lots of bad things I can add but I'm getting so upset remembering the insults, snide remarks, and attitude he displayed for 30 minutes. GO ELSEWHERE. they should not be rewarded very selfish self-centered. read more

We were supposed to pick up a car before 1pm, but our train from the city had mechanical problems. I called Enterprise, and the manager offered to stay 45 minutes after their closing time so we could get a car. When we finally arrived, he was waiting with our contract and keys. We were good to go. This saved us a big hassle trying to find another car. read more

I just had a horrible experience at this place. I tried to rent a car Friday and none were available, I was told Sunday there would be a car for me. Since their "we'll pick you up" policy doesn't count on weekends I had to provide my own transportation. I informed them at the time I made the reservation that I had an out of town address and I would be using a debit card. I was told I needed to bring a local utility bill like I did when I rented from them 3 months ago. When I arrived at the rental counter I was told there was a new policy and that I would need 2 local utility bills. I was turned away with no way to get home, no way to get to work tomorrow, and no place to spend the night tonight. I may have to sleep on a park bench. Thanks for nothing Guys, I will never forget this. Update, thankfully Vinny at the Citgo down the road was able to rent me a U Haul truck with a Debit Card and I was able to continue on my way. If not, I would have been truly stranded. read more

The service initially was fine and nice. The car was great. However,a few reasons while I'll never go back here or ever rent from Enterprise again.When renting I was told I couldn't use my visa debit without bring a bill from home to pay for the rental, which I had just put the money on for for this very reason. I was promised they would just hold $200 on a credit card and then I could pay with that via when I returned. 3 hours into my trip and I say they had charged the entire $700 bill to the very card they promised they wouldn't. After returning the car and got home we realized we had left some video games and a GPS in the vehicle, we called the next day and were told the car had already been rented and nothing found. Losing us nearly $300 worth of items. Either they didn't check well enough, or they found them and kept them. Either way, I'd rather deal with a company I can trust in those very situations. read more

Enterprise allows you to return rented cars to their lot in the middle of the night. I did this, and the next day, they called me to say that my rental car had been damaged. They sent me pictures of the warped front bumper of the car and demanded that I cover the repair costs. I told them I doubted that I had caused the damage, so they said they'd check their parking lot security cameras. They called back to say that the cameras didn't show my rental car a clear angle. I was hesitant to cover it because I didn't know where the damage was from and I couldn't account for the risk of midnight returns (I've since learned my lesson). But after Enterprise kept consistently bugging me with incessant phone calls, I finally agreed to pay for the damage just to make sure I wasn't liable. However, they continued to call me claiming that I owed them for the damaged car EVEN AFTER I'D PAID. I began to ignore their phone calls, so they began to pester my family members at their emergency phone numbers as well. They even had the audacity to call me from a blocked number. When I picked up the phone, the person at the end of the line didn't introduce himself or the company. He just wanted to ensure that he had reached me by repeatedly asking if I was the right person, which was incredibly shady. I finally told him it was me, and he immediately told me that I owed a bunch of money to Enterprise. I denied this and asked him for his name and job title, but he refused to tell me anything and hung up. My experience with Enterprise reflected an obscene level of unprofessionalism. I used to think Enterprise was a reputable company, but in this instance, they stooped below the level of telemarketers and scammers. read more

This Enterprise is awful!!!!..People please be advised that if you are to rent a car from this place (or any) to be sure to take pictures of the car from all angles before and after. My mother rented a car from enterprise at the JFK airport in NYC and returned the vehicle to this Poughkeepsie Enterprise. When my mother dropped the car off at the Poughkeepsie Enterprise, three employees proceeded to scan the car from end to end. These employees then tried to scam my mother by claiming that there was damage to the car and she will be held liable. At that time, the employees were stating that there was a "half dollar" sized dent on the lower part of the drivers side back passenger door (which in reality looked like the contour of the door with no clear damage). They then told my mother that a damage claim would be sent in the mail. My mother then proceeded to take pictures of the vehicle from all angles. Days later, an Enterprise representative called my mother and began to discuss the claim. This Poughkeepsie Enterprise was claiming that there was now a "basketball sized dent in the car" and that my mother had "refused to sign a damage claim"(Remember they said that they'd send it in the mail?) My mother then told the representative that this is a lie and sent them the pictures to prove it. This outstanding representative that works in the JFK rental place then stated that he saw no damage and the claim will be dropped. Had it not been for my mother taking pictures of the car, she would have been held responsible for the so called "damages" to the car costing her hundreds of dollars. LET ME REMIND YOU THAT THIS IS A TOTALLY FALSE CLAIM AND WE CAUGHT THEM IN THEIR LIE. In closing, this Poughkeepsie Enterprise will not hesitate to try and screw you over just to get an extra buck. PLEASE BEWARE AND ALWAYS REMEMBER TO TAKE PICTURES BEFORE AND AFTER YOU RENT A CAR....IT COULD SAVE YOU LOTS OF MONEY AND HEADACHES. P.S. To the employees at this Poughkeepsie Enterprise. The people at this location get an A+ - super friendly, super efficient. We regularly fly into NYC and take the train up to Poughkeepsie where the Enterprise folks pick us up. One time, we arrived an hour earlier than we had anticipated and even though the SUV they had reserved for us wasn't due in from Albany for another 1/2-1 hour, they gave us a different (better) SUV and we were on our way. I have been renting from Enterprise for about 3 years now on a fairly regular basis. I utilize the office on Dutchess Turnpike in Poughkeepsie, NY. I have never had an issue. The ladies and gentlemen that work there are friendly, courteous, and professional. They are as accommodating as they can be. This place is loaded with scam artists. I've rented here before without complaint, however, this will be my final time renting here. I've rented a car for nearly two weeks, and opted to turn it in for another car which I was promised of same value as I needed a bit more room. I traveled over an hour to the location to be told the car I was promised an hour prior was an "upgrade" but is no longer available to me at the counter. I ended up getting the original car promised after my turn in without additional fees allotted after standing my ground. Needless to say, the car received was FILTHY! Magically after this episode, there was a "dent that was found" in the rear quarter panel of the old car. When I picked up the car, it had been torrentially downpouring and to save the hassle me and a sales associate sped up the process and forwent a walk around together. This has now cost me a claim, frustration, and it's taken no less than an hour or better to trade off vehicles and deal with these guys. STAY AWAY! read more

Each time I've gone it's a hassle. Usually a wait, far far too many questions ('give me a secondary phone number', 'where do you work') they don't accept international driver's licenses without a passport. Pity those paying with a debit card--utility bills, the works. Who travels with these things? Unfortunately there's little alternative in Poughkeepsie. Maybe better to train elsewhere to start your Hudson Valley adventure. read more

Because of my experience at this enterprise location, I will NEVER be an enterprise customer ever again. I rented a vehicle from a different city just to drive home to visit family. When I picked up the vehicle, it was pouring rain and I wasn't able to see fully around the car. I drove the car 170 miles on all highway, and when I dropped it off, this enterprise tried to pin "damage" on the bumper on me. The gentleman who was checking the vehicle after I dropped it off asked another enterprise worker if he thought the scrape was a big deal and his response was, "That's nothing. Don't worry about it." The gentleman who was working with me proceeded to go back inside without giving me any information, and a few minutes later a manager came out to look at the car. He told me there was "damage" and I would be responsible for it. I explained the situation when I picked up the car and how I wasn't able to fully see because of the rain and where the car was parked. He said to me over and over, "you're not my customer so we have to call the branch where you picked up the car and they have to decide if they are going to charge you for damages. If it was up to me I would just write it off." We went inside so we could call the other branch, which had no clue what to do and said that it was this branches issue to deal with. While I'm trying to figure this out, the manager was extremely rude and refused to acknowledge that I was "his customer." While I was trying to talk to him, he kept answering the phone in the middle of our conversation, and at one point he walked away from me and completely ignored me. He said that someone from customer service would call me the next day (Saturday.) When no one called, I called them and got a message saying they are not open on Saturdays. Shouldn't a manager know that? Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect from a company or its manager. If you're thinking about using this location, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. And enterprise, get rid of this "manager" who obviously doesn't care about customers or customer service. read more

My transaction began with a ride from the Metro North station to the Enterprise office. The Enterprise driver was late, and my party had to wait a long time at the train station. It was disappointing to find that the Enterprise office had moved far from downtown and the train station. The convenience of renting in Poughkeepsie is reduced. Barry and the crew were very courteous and professional during all our interactions. At the end of my rental week, the ride back to the Metro North station was delayed, and I missed my train. Enterprise promises "we'll pick you up", but this office isn't very good at delivering the service. read more

I had another great experience with Enterprise. This time it was a local rental because of a car repair. They came and picked me up at the auto shop to bring me to Enterprise. They were very sociable and friendly the entire time like they cared about me. You don't see that often. I am an Emerald Club member so I have the option of picking out my choice of car for the most part. Unfortunately....being a small car rental and not the Airport, they had a small selection that day but still got a nice car. Other then that, the place was great. I almost had issue with getting my car from the auto body place on a Friday so they turned me down for a return and drive to the shop on Saturday because on Saturdays they only drive to the train station....they were still willing to try and help me out beyond what they normally would. But in the end, it all worked out and they were great! read more

waited 20 minutes before anyone helped me, the representative that did was a bit grouchy, tried to get me to sign/initial everything WITHOUT ANY explanations for ANYTHING (I wanted the extra insurance). then he put me in an economy car when I had reserved a compact and told me it was an upgrade!!! Icing on the cake, they did not credit back the hold on my card (they all do a hold on debit and/or credit cards) after the final bill.....I had rented a week prior in Mahopac due to an emergency situation, and have nothing but high praise for the Mahopac store, these guys should go to Mahopac for training. read more
