I've rented from Enterprise multiple times, and Luke has been consistently outstanding every single time. He is professional, efficient, and genuinely helpful. He handles everything calmly and respectfully, even when the location is extremely busy. This branch is often packed, so waiting is sometimes part of the process. I think it's important for customers to understand that the employees are doing their best with the volume they handle. Picking up a rental requires patience on our part too. The staff are working hard -- they are not standing around. Some customers come in expecting instant service, even when it's clearly busy. A little patience and kindness go a long way. I want to start off my review by saying that I have been a customer of this Enterprise Rent-A-Car for a very long time at least 12 years. Always a pleasant and happy customer. Always polite and appreciative of the extremely hard working staff and I have recommended this specific Enterprise to at least 20 people over the years. Well yesterday I became the enemy because I hurt myself in one of their shuttles going from the body shop to Enterprise. I hit my head so hard that I was concussed and left in an ambulance from the location. I am not trying to sue anyone even that's not the kind of person I am. I would just expect them to be more than happy to pay my medical bills since I did injure myself in their shuttle because their driver parked at a very steep incline at Fix Auto in San Marcos. It was not in the least a safe place to unload and load passengers. "I got in on my own accord so he's not sure their risk management team will cover anything. And I should expect to hear from them by Monday." says their GM Jeff Mellen. Never even asking me how I was doing today while on the call when he was the one who called the paramedics for me yesterday. Please avoid this establishment at all costs. It is a liability walking in there or around the premises or getting into one of their shuttles. You will not be protected or covered by their "self insurance" they will blame you and only you for your injuries. Let's put Enterprises own mission statements to the test: Standard of care - not if you injure yourself while on premises or in one of their shuttles. Promise to put you first - not if you get injured Goal to give every customer a great experience - not if you get injured/concussed. A partner you can trust - I don't trust them at all at this point Exceptional service - not if you get injured Go the extra mile for you - not if you get injured in their shuttle or on premises Enterprise is always here to keep you moving forward - once you are injured by their vehicles you are the enemy and even if you leave by ambulance they won't even ask you how you are doing when speaking with them the next day. Long story short, there are a lot of rental cars companies in and around San Marcos and San Diego, go to one that you are sure will be there for you even if you get hurt. This is not that place. This is not that establishment. This is not the GM you want ensuring you're safety. They only care about one thing and one thing only. Money. That is all that drives them (sorry for the pun). If you are giving them money you're family. If you get hurt and need them to pay they will treat you like a rat in the street. read more

I am a repeat customer with many rentals over the last couple of years. Mostly good, but unfortunately over the last year, just to many issues with their vehicles. One was two quarts low on oil, so during my trip I had to purchase oil and fill it up. Another rental had such low tire pressure I had to find a gas station to fill up the tires, not a little low, like 20 lbs. Really unsafe to drive. The final straw for me was the Nissan Frontier I rented recently after an accident. I am a general contractor so a truck is required. The Nissan had 9000 miles on it and leaked oil all over my clients driveway. Costing me time and money to have it cleaned. On top of that, I had to drive to another town to swap out the truck for another one. Completely out of fuel of course. I spent $80 filling the first truck before returning it, and another $80 on the replacement truck. No callback as promised from the Manager to make it right. Whoever maintains their vehicles needs to be replaced. On top of that their cars are almost always out of fuel, so plan on filling up immediately. I went online and rented a car for the weekend. Five days in advance of the rental date (Friday). I was called be Enterprise at 6:50pm on the Thursday to ask if I could come later on Friday to pick up my car (like in the afternoon, the manager, Luke, said). I called back and I was given assorted sob stories: 1) 15 people were coming in at 8am to get cars, 2) the manager gave people PTO, 3) it would take time to get to all the people. Yada yada yada. I needed the car at 8:30am, per my reservation. I did not want to wait an hour or more, as told by Luke, as if that was okay. I have rented cars on numerous occasions in the past. This place seems like a mess. I will never rent from this location again. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt this experience needed to be shared. I've never had an issue with customer service at car rental locations before, but the woman named Phoenix who works at this location was incredibly rude and unprofessional--twice. The first time I came in with my mom, she rolled her eyes at us repeatedly and brushed us off without even checking for availability. Her exact words were, "We have no SUVs, we're busy," and she made no effort to offer help, check nearby locations, or provide alternatives. We ended up coming back with another reservation, hoping things would go smoother--but again, her attitude was just as dismissive. She blamed us for the situation and said she couldn't make any accommodations. On top of that, although our pickup time was for noon, she claimed they were closed and said, "I'm late for my appointment," as if we were inconveniencing her. Phoenix made both visits extremely uncomfortable. Her eye-rolling, dismissive tone, and complete lack of professionalism make her the worst salesperson I've ever encountered at any rental location. Shout out to Luke at San Marcos enterprise as an outstanding example of a quality manager. While there, I observed him provide excellent customer service to every customer, even the customers who were having a bad day got treated with smiles and a calm demeanor. This is tough job, dealing with people who've often recently suffered trauma associated with vehicle loss, damage, or break down. Beware of the liars that work here! Back in mid July of 2023 my car had an issue with the evap system and I had to take it to Centric Auto where it had been worked on before. I knew it was going to take a day or two and needed a rental so I could still get to work. I know from the other times I've taken my car there they help customers with getting rentals and cover the first day. The person who picked me up took a moment to ask Centric if they had a card on file with their account because they were having trouble finding it. She was told they did. The day after I got the rental I received a standard text from the Enterprise manager wanting to make sure everything was satisfactory. I held onto it. There was a delay in getting the part needed for my car and because of the amount of time it takes to complete the type of repair that needed to be done, which overlapped the weekend when Centric is closed, I ended up using the rental for 6 calendar days. July 12-18. When Centric called and said my vehicle was ready for pickup, I dropped off the rental with them on the 18th. While getting the paperwork from the service writer, Victor, the general manager and/or owner of Centric, said to them from a back office behind the front counter there was no balance because it was a comeback repair and covered by the warranty. It was the SECOND time they had to redo what they did, making it a total of THREE times a canister valve needed to be replaced in my car's evap system. Then I distinctly remember him also saying that they would cover the ENTIRE rental. Probably to make up for it. Later around July 29th I got a message from a guy at Enterprise saying they needed to know exactly when the car was returned so they could close out the contract because they found the keys for it in the drop box on the 21st. Three days later?! I tried calling them and NOBODY answered. So I texted the manager back about it using the one I saved from earlier. I thought that would be the end of it. Nope! Come early August when I was checking my monthly credit card statement, I saw a transaction for Enterprise in the amount of $468! Around the 9th or 10th I went down there in person to see what was up and tell them Centric said they would cover it. Apparently they were still having trouble finding the card that was supposed to be on file with Centric's account so it could be charged. In the meantime they said they would issue a refund for me and of course it would take a number of business days. A week goes by and I haven't gotten the refund. By the 16th or 17th I AGAIN go down there in person to gripe about it. I spoke to the same two guys as before. One showed some confusion and wondered why the refund didn't go through. He said he would personally restart the refund process for me that day and took a picture with his phone of what was displayed on the computer screen as a reminder to himself. Then he reminded me that it would still take a few business days. ANOTHER week goes by and surprise surprise, I STILL hadn't gotten the refund! I chalk it up to their incompetency. By late August I finally decided to just call my credit card company and dispute the charge. They initially took it off and credited the amount back to me, but then it was reapplied. I called them again and asked why. The agent I spoke to said that when they reached out to the merchant of the transaction, Enterprise, they were refuting the dispute and claimed it was a genuine charge. So it wasn't that they were incompetent, they were just a bunch of LIARS! My credit card company emailed me a link to add any other information that might help resolve the dispute. When I told them that I had gone down there in person twice and was told directly I'd be given a refund, the agent said that would definitely benefit me. Unfortunately since I work 2 jobs in order to pay all the bills due to the skyrocketing cost of living, I never got around to doing that before the link expired. It also explains why I didn't get around to writing a review about it until today 1/1/2024. Now I'm stuck paying for something that never should've been charged to me in the first place! read more

After renting a car from this location for two weeks, the area manager Ben put me on a "do not rent to" list. I went into the location after I discovered this to talk with him and ask him why he had done so. He was not in and I was assured by the branch manager, that he would call me back. I never heard from him. I can only assume this was done after my experience at another location where the assistant branch manager refused to rent me a car because I did not have a reservation and he said I was not "nice enough." Trust me, I would never rent from Enterprise again, but this is further proof how far their customer service has fallen. Look up Enterprise on TikTok. Something is going on with this company. My car needed repair after some ass ran into my back bumper at a stop light and hightailed it from the scene. Your basic hit-and-run scenario where the victim is left to pay for the damages. Thank God for insurance. Came to this location per the recommendation of the insurance company. The whole entire process from beginning to end was seamless and absolutely stress-free. Customer service was pleasant and they made sure I was comfortable. They took their time to explain things and answer questions. The only issue was that the first vehicle they gave me was an Expedition. It was a ginormous gas-guzzling behemoth. There was nothing smaller. This was on a Wednesday and by Friday I had to, needed to, switch it out for something less ridiculous. Disgusted with this company to say the least....my daughter was sent to Enterprise by our insurance company after being in an accident. My daughter is a 20 year old mild and meek young lady and I think the men in that shop preyed on that. She was asked what kind of vehicle she wanted and she told them that she wanted a vehicle that was covered by her insurance. Leo told her ok no problem. After turning in the car they charged her $469 when it should have been $0. I called to speak with the manager and Leo who answered the phone said the manager was not available. Well after 4 phone calls I found out Leo is the manager who deceived me on the phone saying the manager was in a meeting. I spoke with 3 people in this office Elijah, Leo and Luke all 3 of them lied and said they would credit her back the money and never did it. I spent my entire day getting here and now I'm sitting outside on the curb without a ride that I have plenty of money to pay for with my government issued debit card that paid into with my taxes. They said I was good on the phone but not when I spend half my day and now around 100 dollars round trip with tip,it's " oh I'm sorry that's too bad. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with Enterprise in San Marcos, CA. I rented a Ford Expedition to take my boys to a summer camp in Northern California. Everything seemed fine until I used the cruise control. When the cruise control was set to 70, it would suddenly accelerate to 85 MPH. When I returned the vehicle, the manager was apologetic, and said they would not charge me for the rental until they had investigated the issue, and I would get some follow up regarding what happened. Here we are almost 1-1/2 months later and the full charge for the rental showed up on my account statement. No call, no follow-up. This was never about the money for the rental, this was a concern for my family's safety and the next family that rented this vehicle. I had to reach out to enterprise, I had to get the full story, where is the customer service in that? I did receive a credit for one day of the rental but would rather have had someone from the company reach out and let me know what had actually occurred. My business will be going back to Hertz for future rentals. read more

Holy shit, how do I start? Well, I should first note that the recent horrible experience I had with Enterprise is not indicative as a whole to the entirety of the company. Plus, I know that not every aspect of that recent experience is entirely this particular Enterprise franchise's fault. Now, having said all that, it doesn't change the fact that from front counter to the road, this miserable exchange all began with the San Marcos branch of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. A bit of background on our trip, we were headed to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving with four passengers, one being a 3 year old toddler, and needed something bigger and more reliable than what we had on hand. Even though I have a nice corporate discount through work with Avis, we decided to come here because they still had comparable rates, their Encinitas location is close and convenient for drop off, and we have had years of good service in the past; we figured loyalty to the brand should continue and found a mid-size for low cost and no hassle in San Marcos to pickup. We were on a time crunch, the woman I love needing to get to our destination quickly as her mother was also in Vegas and leaving the day after we arrived and she wanted as much time as possible to visit. So, we got there when Enterprise opened, and were promptly told that our card was declined, even though we had a great deal more in credit limit than what the cost of the rental called for. This forced us to use our debit, delving into the money we budgeted for our trip, and after they told us they were tacking on a $100 hold in addition to the rental fee, we watched as everything we set aside for our trip to Vegas vanished just so we could afford to drive there. And, by the way, that $100 hold? In the 4+ years I've been renting cars from Enterprise, I have NEVER been charged additional money as a hold. It was a bit embarrassing and extremely insulting, especially from a company I've given A LOT of former business to as well as never having been hit with any such charge before. Right there at the front desk, the horrible experience began. To cushion the blow, my love burned some sort of free upgrade and moved us into a Chrysler 300S. It was roomy and comfortable for our group. But, on our way to pick up our 4th passenger, the transmission slipped and started revving upwards of 6k RPM's while going 10 miles an hour. We crossed our fingers, hoping it was a solitary occurrence, and loaded up the car to start our trip. About halfway along the 76, on our way to the I-15, it happened again and this time, we couldn't get it into gear, forcing us to pull over in fast traffic. Spirits sank as my wife started losing precious potential time with her mother; we called Enterprise Roadside Assistance and they promptly put us on hold. As cars roared by, causing our Chrysler to rock side to side with every rushing semi, I took my own phone and started calling nearby Enterprise franchises for help. Six miles away at the Fallbrook Enterprise, they were out of cars, only a multi-passenger van remained. By this time, Roadside Assistance came back and told us that we were not within range of any Enterprise help, not even Fallbrook would send that van the six miles to get us. When asked why not, we were told that they were too far, outside of their available range, and the nearest actual car we could trade this lemon in for was 15 miles away in Temecula. When we asked how we were supposed to get there, Enterprise Roadside Assistance actually told us to call Uber or get a taxi. I shit you not, after I told them that we had a handicapped woman and a three year old toddler and that we needed help because THEIR car had broken down, we were told that we were on our own and had to contact, and spend money we no longer had because of their extraneous charges, on a total stranger through Uber in hopes of a rescue. Needless to say, we were livid and exceedingly disgusted. Without any other choice, we were forced to limp our way north to Temecula. After the hour+ rest, the problem had corrected itself, but the transmission slipped once more in that next half hour, causing hearts to jump in our throats as we prayed for this car to find its gear. Thankfully, when we arrived, the Enterprise in Temecula was ready with another car, having been warned of our coming after we phoned ahead. Unfortunately, we took a step down in model, losing our upgrade as they handed us a Hyundai Elantra that was more cramped, a bit less on style and comfort, and a pretty crappy color. At this point, we didn't care, already having lost hours of precious family time and needing to get back on the road. A horrible eff'ing experience, all starting with the less than stellar treatment at the front desk of San Marcos Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I'm sure I'll go back to Enterprise someday, but I'll sure as hell never come back to this branch ever again. read more
