What could improve is firing everyone especially mgr at 450 w vista way vista location. HERTZ in general DO NOT take care of their customers at all. There are several other steps they could take BEFORE calling the cops reporting their car stolen when in fact customer just running late to return it! They go from 0-1000 customer should expect to be pulled over at gun point lay on the ground hands behind your back (full on low down tactics of Hertz)claiming you stole the car! What kind of crappy business tactics is that!they also try to nickel dime you to death over every little petty thing they can and make you feel like you're some kind of criminal they will take whatever they feel you owe them right out of the deposit and/or off your credit card if you don't agree with them we'll sue me is their attitude. Mixed reviews about this place. POSITIVES: The receptionist Kylee was awesome with assisting me with a rental. She was very patient with me trying to understand the ridiculous rules and polices. NEGATIVES: Short staffed making wait times so long. The process took us an hour! I got the car with 350 miles and returned it with nearly 380 miles and they told me I would be charged $40 for fuel because they go off the fuel gauge and not the miles! They do credit checks for rentals so please be aware that you might be denied even after already booking the rental. I would suggest not go book with them. To many rules and policies in place. Enterprise is down the street with a lower deposit and faster rental process. read more

Beware of this Vista hertz location. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT allow the representative to check in your rental car without you inspecting it with him. Unfortunately, the rep simply asked me for the keys as he was helping one person in front of me at the counter. The rep said just leave me the keys, I'll call you if I have any questions. BAD MOVE on my part as I got my receipt via fail with a $25 fuel charge. I brought the car back full of fuel as I always do, so I called the office to find out, oh yes we see that you did bring the car back full of gas, we will try to process your refund in the next 6 weeks! I'm a Hertz Presidents Circle member and made my reservation through the Hertz app. I show up to pick up the vehicle, the agent told me they had no vehicles available and that I would have to wait around until someone was scheduled to return one two hours later. Negative stars if I could. When I got there, the lady was RUDE. The website let me choose pickup for 8pm yet I arrived at 4:50pm. Seemed like the lady was getting ready to leave and she sighed loud & banged her stuff down. This is my second time attempting to rent a car from Hertz. Not only did they allow me to rent a car, confirmed the car reservation and sent me an email this morning as a reminder to pick up my vehicle, but then I get there and the girl in the front desk (yes the one that is always there) tells me oh I have no car for you. I said what do you mean and she proceeds to state that she does not have that car. ANY OTHER RENTAL PLACE will tell you, we do not have that car but we can upgrade you to this car. NOPE, not hertz! Not only was she unprofessional but she was rude. I told her if she had any other car and she said we don't have that car. I told her can you give me another car she said no. She the lab proceeds to tell me that she has other people that also booked a car for 8am pickup and she needed to help them, yet I was there first . Was it because they rented the car for longer and would get more money from them, maybe? But the point being, WHY RENT A CAR OUT WHEN YOU HAVE NO CAR TO GIVE OUT!!!! I called the hertz corporation and the person on the phone refused to help. Said I should talk w them (the rental place) about the issue. wtf! Instead of an easy button at the desk they have a bulls*** button. Unfortunately I don't have a choice to choose another hertz location - these guys are connected with the Ford Service department. This is my 4th unbelievable difficult visit. I walked up to the desk at 7:30 after turning in my car and was greeted with a frown and a we don't open until 8:00. I said, I guess I'll have to wait until 8:00. Then she said, we only have a small subcompact car. I said, I guess I'll have to take it. I sat down and listened to them complain about last nights customers. Surprised when at 7:56 the kindly called me to the counter. I got a Chevy spark with 136000 miles on it. Last time I was greeted with , we don't have any nice cars. We only have old cars. I guess she remembered me from my last visit when I asked for a low mileage car. They deserve 0 stars. They have a partnership with American Express yet wouldn't accept my Amex Platinum Business card because it is "too thick." So I wouldn't recommend anyone with any high end credit card to go there because they won't be able to use it because it's "too thick." Rented from this Hertz 3x (their current location is inside the Ford dealership). All my interactions with the staff have been pleasant. The whole rental process from reservation, to pick-up, to return have all been easy. The price I was quoted each time matched the final bill. On this last transaction, there was a billing issue and reimbursement situation that was handled to my satisfaction. The reason they're getting 4 stars is because the cars could've been cleaner. I've learned from the first experience to bring wetwipes and sanitizers. The cars weren't extremely filthy or foul smelling. It's just that there were random smudges that were questionable and were located in odd places. When in doubt, wetwipe it out. I would continue to rent from this Hertz as long as they provide consistently good customer service. read more

I made a reservation for a cargo van for our small move over a week in advance. The Temecula location closed literally at the same time as our reservation and REFUSED to honor our reservation or help us. I called Vista location in a panic literally 20 minutes before they were about to close but I was 40 minutes away. By the grace of GOD I got the most amazing and understanding person. She stayed open and waited for my husband and I. Who does that? Thank you Zaria for helping us! She was patient and kind to my husband and even gave us the manager's name for the Temecula location so that we could return the van without a fee there. My mother had reserved a rental because our insurance company held our car for a month without doing any repairs and we needed a quick rental car for the timesake. We had reserved a family car, once we got there they said they didn't have the car we had reserved and that we would have to pay a higher rate for the car we had ORIGINALLY reserved. Poor customer service. My drop off time to return the car was at 9. I'm here at 830 to give them the keys but no ones here. The Ford people next door said they don't open until 9 today. They offer to take the key. I'm not playing this game. The Ford people don't work for Hertz. I'm not gonna leave them the key and then later get an unexpected late fee charge. The Hertz person that works today is actually here in the back cleaning a car. It doesn't make any sense if they are going to open at 9 today if I have to drop it off by 9 and there's no one to drop it off to so I can get proof I dropped it off on time and a walk through so I don't get any unexpected charges. read more

I've done Hertz rentals from the airport, but this was my first time and last time renting from here. In my original rental I was provided with the incorrect passenger # vehicle, then they tell me i have to wait hours, because they don't currently have a vehicle for me. In my experience of good customer service, they will either provide with you with some monetary discount or an upgrade, neither of which I received. When my new vehicle was finally available, they weren't able to honor my original rental quote and I was charged a higher daily rental fee for the new vehicle, albeit not too much more. When I returned my vehicle, they charged me another $75 for cleaning, I was appalled. I have rented from Enterprise and Hertz and have returned vehicles in that condition or a little worse without any additional cleaning fee. The guy at the counter literally said that if i gave it a vacuum they wouldn't charge me! seriously, vacuuming is standard cleaning procedure, which they probably don't do, since I cleaned out stuff from the previous renter, some docs with his personal information (which I just tossed). Finally, upon returning the vehicle, I noticed i still had not been issued my refund for the original rental with the incorrect seating, luckily their customer relations / billing, after speaking and requesting a manager, was able to issue my refund for the original rental and the cleaning fee on the second rental. Anyway, this is just a warning to you that if you want to wait around, be charged needlessly, ensure that your customer needs and requests are not met, careless oversights etc.. then go here, otherwise avoid it and either go to another location or use another rental company. Poorly managed location. Love the micromanagement happening over every employees shoulder while simultaneously browsing her phone. Very professional and a great look. Refused to provide a ride back to home because they were closing in 15 mins, while my home was 10 mins away. Shows that they only care about punching out and not about the customer, sad. I'm a loyal Hertz member and was trying this place out for all of my work trips, but I'll be avoiding this location from now on. read more

Crooks! I had to have a rental for less than 24 hours. It was brought to me wile I was at work which was very nice. Unfortunately I didnt inspect the fuel level or sit in the car. WhenI got done from work I got in and it REEKED of cheap, sweet perfume. I drove 8.7 miles home and 8.7 miles back the next day. When I turned it in I was charged $11.50 for fuel. Less than 19 miles in a Chevy Spark and they're reporting the fuel was not full. I call BS on that. My only deduction from this is they gave it to me not on full and I took their word and didn't verify. My fault. However, anyone with any common sense could look at the miles driven and deduce that a car that gets 35mpg would not be low on fuel with 19 miles driven. Instead, the snotty girl at the desk just said, "You look like you dont believe me". No. I dont believe you or that you charged me for fuel after knowing I drive LESS THAN 20 MILES. Hertz should be ashamed at this type of unscrupulous business practice and I should be embarrassed that I trusted their word. Shame on me. STEER CLEAR if you can. If not, photo document everythong or you may end up a victim of unethical business practice like me. read more

Absolutely horrible. Horrible customer service and yes from the one girl who is always there unfortunately. Gives so much attitude for the simplest questions so unprofessional and so rude. We rented our car got there Early and only for her to be scrambling around and on the phone calling her other colleague only to find out that the car I had rented she gave to the person before me. And she even admitted that she had already give the car we selected away. I had booked it 2days in advance and only for her to say unfortunately we have no other car right now you can come back in the morning even thoe my trip was that night. Did not help us in any way at all. All she did was not charge us give us lip for absolutely everything and when we asked to speak to someone over her. And all she said was to look up a number online. Please do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else. If you would like to wait over an hour just to pick up a rental car that is malodorous (there was no possible way to drive without having the windows down), seat stains all over and tank that was 1/4 full, be my guest.. When we were given the car they told us they were "aware" of the cigarette smelling car and the multiple scratches on the car. I can understand the scratches cause that happens and maybe they're short on cars. But I've never in my life received a car that just completely stunk and was not washed and in the worst condition. They could've at least washed the car and gave us a full tank. We only needed the car for less than 24 hours while we were in town and was tired from being there for so long that we just settled for it. Something needs to be done to this location. Again, please save your time and your money and don't settle like us! read more

First of all the rate that I was guaranteed from the Uber app was not the same as the rate that I got and what I thought was only going to be $25 a day of insurance ended up being about double that per day on top of the daily rate for the car alone and upon returning the car I was 25 minutes late which in their policy states that as long as you return the rental within 30 mins you will likely not be charged an extra day except the employee who processed my return didn't process it until 9:33am so I was charged an extra hour for the car which would be fine except because of this i was also charged the daily insurance rate and all the extra lil daily fees that come with the daily insurance and i have filed a time dispute which i have not heard any follow up about it and have since contacted customer service twice about the issue and still have not heard back in 2 weeks i need my money back! read more

I cancelled the reservation when my trip was cancelled and HERTZ took away half of my rewards points. When I asked the agent to show me the written policy for this is response was"Why, it wasn't going to make a difference". When I went to return the car they told me I could either go detail the car myself ( mind you we are in a crisis and there are no car detailings open) or I could pay and EXTRA $300 for them to do it just for the dog hair. There was a man outside who was acting erratic and almost harassing the man inside working, but the employee handled it peacefully and still had me in and out under 20 minutes (there were customers ahead of me). Extortionist. Picked up a rental here through insurance because our car was totaled. Well our insurance check came in so we returned the car. To our surprise tte agent the claimed we smoked in it. Which is funny because neither I or my wife smoke. The agent and I went round and round because they wanted to charge us a $300 cleaning fee (the car was returned immaculate and absolutely didn't smell like smoke). Absolute extortion. I rented a car for 12PM on a Saturday via Priceline. I got to the location at 12:02. There was NOBODY there to help. I'm sure it shows that they have a rental coming in, and they still left. I rented the car for a family vacation, and it completely screwed the whole thing up. VERY disappointing. I waited for an hour and fifteen minutes to finally have someone pick up the phone for Customer Service. The man was nice enough, and told me there wasn't much he could do, except give me a refund that will take at least 10 days to hit back on my credit card. VERY disappointing. Please beware and definitely check hours well in advance. BTW, I don't leave bad reviews on Yelp, but this completely messed up a family vacation. Not COOL! read more
