I tried another nail salon in town, one much closer to my house (see my review of TT Nails), but am really enjoying the trend of nail art and wanted to find a salon that could let me fulfill all of my wildest Pinterest dreams. I read reviews about Amy and her skill at free-hand painting so decided to give her a shot. I showed her the image I wanted, and was afraid she would think it was too hard, but she just nodded like she'd do her best. I could see the difference right away in her painting. She had several little pots of colors and tiny brushes, obviously meant for art. She fastidiously looked and painted and looked and painted and the end result is fabulous. I think they look exactly alike! Amy is obviously a perfectionist. When she noticed one of my nails broke and was unevenly short, she offered to put on a tip. Later, I found out it was FREE! And then, I guess she didn't think her design had enough pizzazz so she bejeweled them a bit. Also, for FREE. Though I will skip this next time, who doesn't love Free?? And I especially love someone who cares about their work and wants my nails to look as good as her own (because unlike normal nail salon women who have bare nails, hers were bedazzled to the nth degree!). I will definitely go back to Amy at Envy. Even if it means i have to drive 15 min to get there vs the one just down the street! read more

Update from my original review, still five glowing stars! These ladies do great work. They get you in pretty quickly and get right to work. I'd say it took an hour for my set of acrylics. Best nail salon I have ever been to! Amy does an incredible job and can free hand designs like I've never seen before, she is crazy talented! I made an appointment for 3PM on a Sunday (they close at 5) and when I arrived I could not be attended to until 3:30. I got a full acrylic set and the entire process took exactly an hour. Every detail was taken care of; excellent cuticle care, choice of every polish imaginable, instant drying and beautiful! The salon itself is rather small and I can imagine it would get crowded with more than 5 people inside. To top it off when I went to pay Amy took $5 off the price due to my half an hour wait which I thought was very kind and great customer service! Was looking to check out new places in the area to possibly switch to when I move and came across this from yelp. The staff were all very friendly and took me as a walk in no problem. I asked for a mermaid kinda theme pedicure and the one girl is able to freehand beautiful works of art- gave me some scales!! The only drawback of this place was that I wish they had spent less time massaging the scrub in and placed that towards the massage with the lotion part. I felt like they dug in deeper with rubbing in the scrub then the massage but that's pretty minor in the overall scheme. This is the worst nail salon I've ever been to. I asked for a short almond set with colorful French tip. Not only did she finish my nails in 30 minutes and completely rushed as soon as another customer walked in, but they charged $65 for a crooked set, the polish is bubbled underneath, the wrong shape, and added $10 because it was "French tip" extremely disappointed and highly advise not going there. Absolutely terrible experience. It was the only salon open on a Sunday so I gave it a try but I should've walked out once I saw how dirty it was. My nails were done way too thin and within 2 days one broke off so I made an appointment to get it fixed and waited over a half hour to have my new nail put on completely carelessly and crooked because they were rushing to close. Then ONE day after that 2 more nails broke off. I've never had such thin poorly done nails. I paid close to $100 for a pedicure and dipped manicure. Three days later the manicure polish started chipping, which is unbelievable because other nails salons that I've been to this lasts for a month. I called Envy Nails to ask if I could come in to repair my nails. I was asked if I could come in the next morning at 10:30am. I went in and was told that they didn't have me in their appointment book and asked if I f I could come back at noon. Hello again a year and a half after my first initial visit with Vicky (who's still a very good nail tech)! I came here around two months ago with my mom to get an acrylic fill with the new halo graphic metallic powder that I kept on seeing on social media. When I first came in I was caught waiting for at least a good twenty minutes just to be seen. There where two ladies that I haven't seen before and one man who hounded them just looking at their work over their shoulders, which is alright but at the same time it's like give them their god dang space you know? Finally I get seated and i let them know what I want which kind of sends them all in a scuffle not quite knowing how to do the powder over the gel polish for the holographic look. But they take on the challenge anyway. What I noticed right away was how ROUGH my nail tech was. She literally drilled/filed off so much skin around each and every one of my fingers in her effort to get all the old gel polish off my original set made by another salon. It burned horrendously. And I'm a shy as hell girl so I just sad there closing my eyes at the pain. Then when it came to putting the black gel polish on as a base for the powder my holy sweet lord! That was the fire to the kerosine. I wanted to cry so badly like I've never experienced my actual nail and surrounding nail skin in so much agony. through it all I kept my composure in the hopes of getting a sweet full set after to go take pictures of and feel amazing about! Nope. The girl who finished up the first techs job who decided she didn't know what she was doing came to no rescue as she sloppily applied the loose powder to the nails. It was uneven everywhere you could see how she didn't apply it in all the necessary places! Plus this was all around $50 for my FILL. Not even a whole new set. Came home after that to really notice the rest of the mess like where all the new acrylic she put on was lumpy on each nail. Ugh i just can't win with nail salons in Rochester. read more

Went here for a pedicure because the Yelp reviews were so good. After my experience, I don't know how or why this place has 4.5 stars. The salon reeks of chemicals and fumes -- more than any nail salon I've ever been to. I started feeling lightheaded, and asked one of the nail techs to crack a window. She made no effort to conceal her annoyance at this request. The pedicure itself was quick, rough, and uncomfortable. I ended up having to touch up the parts of my nails that she missed when I got home. Moral of the story -- you can get a much better $30 pedicure literally anywhere else. read more
