My husband and I were in town this past weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary. Stumbled upon the groupon deal they were offering (tasting for 2 & a free bottle of chenin blanc) which is a steal in this area! By far the best price we saw, so we went for it. We are sooo glad that we did because the experience was amazing! Hailey hosted our tasting and she was beyond amazing! So sweet, kind, bubbly and personable. We lucked out and were the only two there so we got to ask all the random qs we had about wine. This experience with Hailey really made our anniversary celebration memorable. I have done two tastings here within the past month because I wanted to come back to make sure I liked their wines. Personally I really enjoy this winery. The staff in the tasting room have always been incredibly nice and knowledgeable. The winery itself is pretty, with seating inside and outside. A tiny and welcoming spot for the well seasoned wine drinkers or beginners. :) read more

The property wasn't that impressive but they had good wines. They had a private tasting room for large groups. The first two on the menu and then some of the carters we tried were good. It gets packed here, we went early and got some spots but they turned down several folks. read more

This place is fantastic. Very small but they are coming into their own. The wines were excellent and service was great. We were able to sit down and chat with the owner which was a pleasure and a rare occurrence. Most wineries are so commercial the chances of running into the owner are slim. The tasting room was nice and the pours generous. We ended up taking home a bottle of wine. I wanted to join the wine club but they do require the purchase up front which I couldn't afford. In the future though I look forward to being a member and drinking more delicious Envy Wines! read more

Great place to visit in Calistoga. Last minute recommendation from our friends who own The Luxe Calistoga. Mark was their to help us and was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the wines and the surrounding area. Walked away with a love Sauv Blanc. Nice room and very low-key. Give it a try! Also the plus is you won't spend your whole pocket book on a flight. Probably one of the few that don't charge a million dollars, only $15 for a love flight and no reservation needed. read more

Fun place to taste, small, local, the winemaker was pouring the wines for the tasting. They make 3 different petite syrahs, and you can taste the difference that the location of the vinyard imparts to the wine. read more

Just when I thought it was time to saw Calistoga off the map entirely I blundered onto Envy Winery's comfortable, out-of-the-way, laid-back tasting room. The wines, crafted by Nils Venge, one of the Valley's long-time wine-making gladiators, are stellar across the board. Actually, the petite sirah is the nicest I've ever tried of that varietal, a superb bottle---and it's only $45. read more

Thanks to the wine passport, we visited this great little winery. The place was jammed, not enough staff pouring, the wait was 20 minutes....but worth the wait! The staff was knowledgeable and the wine was really good! Walked away with a bottle of 2009 Cabernat. Will keep an eye on this gem of a place and will return. One of our favorites and a must visit. Tend to enjoy the boutique wineries most, that aren't offered at chain stores and that you can get anywhere else. I like going to the hidden gems that you can only get while in Napa, which makes it that much more special of a wine. Envy offers just that - Great wine and experience, Bee-Bee's blend is still one of our favorites. Out of all of the wineries in Napa area, we became and remained members of Envy for 3 years in a row now. read more

Stopped here after visiting Chateau Montelena and was well worth it. I like the laid back feel of the smaller wineries. The guy working that day was super friendly and helpful and the wines were great. We ended up buying 3 bottles. Can't wait to drink them! read more

"Envy Wines is one of our favs when we come into Calistoga or into Napa for that matter" Our first visit into Envy Wines was a few years ago. We were greeted by Phillip, we sat around the bar (at this time they had some seats at the bar) and had a fairly large group with us. My husband and I went with both our moms, my sister, his Dad and My Grandmother.... and our 3 kids. He took care of us explaining all the wines and didn't mind the kids in the tasting room. The kids actually sat at the table, which has 4 seats and they use often for reservations or members. That day we had the best time, everyone in our group found something they liked. The wines were delicious. So good!!! My husband and I decided to join as members that day. Phillip told us about the club membership and how even though I live in Livermore and only visit Napa/Calistoga about once a year, they would be able to accomodate us with the shipments, holding it for us so we wouldn't get charged shipping. We loved the idea of coming here and tasting at no charge and getting discounts on the yummy wines! Since joining 2 years ago, we have been back twice and at that time we taste and decide what we want to buy and they work it into our shipments that we are due to pick up. They are awesome!!!!! The property is beautiful like most all of Napa and Calistoga. I love their little patio outside if we want to sit and hang outside and I love their tasting room. Love the decor, the seating, the bar, and even the big bathroom inside the tasting room. The first visit back last year, we met up with Phillip again. My husband and I left the kids behind and went in by ourselves. We were "taken care of" once again. We were seated at the "VIP table" I like to call it. Because we sat and relaxed and every bottle to taste was brought to our table. Phillip explained the wines and poured nice size tastes so we could really taste the wine. It was an awesome experience. We left almost 2 hours later. We enjoyed the Envy Wines, and even got to taste some of the Carter Wines, that were unbelievable. We knew leaving that day that we were happy to have joined their wine club out of all the wineries we have been to in the area. The 2nd visit since we joined was this past weekend on 9/10/11. Phillip wasn't there, but Barbie was. She was awesome! Again, she sat us at the VIP table, and took care of us giving us the same treatment we got last time. It is obvious that Envy Wines treats their customers with respect whether you are a member or not. As we sat at the table, other people came in to taste, and they were taken care of at the bar in the same way, and none of them were members. We tried all the delicious wines, and bought the '08 Bee Bees Blend, the '08 Estate Petite Sirah and the '08 Nord Vineyard Petite Sirah.... these wines are so good, take my word for it. We decided to buy a few Carter wines this time. No we are not made of money, and they are a little pricey so we definitely can't do it everytime. But this time we thought, "let's do it...let's splurge a little". We tasted a few of the different Carter Wines, even the $125 bottle cabs. We left purchasing the Carter '07 Revilo Vineyard Cabernet Sauv. and the Carter '08 Truchard Vineyard Merlot. These 2 wines are delicious and when we drink these bottles we will know it was worth the money. Barbie was very nice, helpful and really made us feel VIP. We can't wait to go back again. This was the second stop on a guided tour through the wineries of Calistoga. . . I'm far from an expert on wines and tastings, but Envy offered up some really amazing and bold flavors. To actually be able to smell and taste vanilla and a really rich cherry - that was exciting to me. The wines at Envy were probably my favorite of the day. The Petite Sirah was fantastic. The gentlemen who did our tasting was so helpful and kind - thoroughly explaining each wine he poured. The part I really liked is that he insisted you call him directly if you want to order or if you join the club and want to hand pick which wines are delivered to you in your shipments. I've been a member of clubs where you get what you get and there's not a lot of option. . .to be able to call and talk to someone directly to customize a shipment - that speaks volumes about how important their customers are. Envy is a worthwhile stop and the wines are exciting, unique, and not to be missed. read more

Envy Wine is awesome especially their cabernets! This is our first visit to Envy and were extremely pleased with their wines. Although their website indicated an appointment was needed, I called while enroute and they told us to just stop by. Envy is a small winery but they have great wine. Mark was entertaining and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the extra pour of their desert wine which was exquisite. Although we bought a bottle, we will be back to buy more! read more

This is such a gem! My boyfriend and I were on our way back from Harbin Hotsprings and passed by Envy. We quickly did a U-turn-the name alone intrigued us. Envy is a very cozy, friendly and fun place to taste. They have delicious wines and have an amazing Petit Syrah. I had come to find out that the owners of this winery also own the fantastic Carter House Inn located in Eureka...the BEST and ONLY place to stay in the area. They have the most extensive wine list and also serve Envy wines there. You will not be disappointed by either!! read more

We went to Envy Wines on the recommendation of a local in Calistoga. FABULOUS recommendation. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The taster was very knowledable and offered to let us taste some of the wines not on the list. We tasted some Vine Haven and Carter as well. Would definetly recommend it. read more
