We are visiting from out of town and asked around to see where on Arthur Street we should eat. Came in for lunch and the service was great. We asked the woman who must have been the manager what she recommends and ordered all of it. From the fried meatballs to the chicken Parm with the marinara sauce tasting just like my Nona used to make, everything was amazing! Great food at this modest little Italian restaurant in The Bronx's Little Italy. The service, while maybe not as professional as some Italian restaurants in this neighborhood, is friendly enough, and the vibe is definitely pretty casual. Outstanding pasta dishes, some of the tastiest sausages I have ever had anywhere, and delicious bread, as one might expect in a neighborhood where there are 2 or 3 excellent bakeries on every block. Went to Enzo's 2 weeks ago. Ordered fried calamari for an appetizer which was seriously disappointing- it was rubbery and had no taste, then, I nearly choked on a very large quill that felt like hard plastic. I figured it was an anomaly, brought left overs home and found 2 more very large quills. Also, the tortellini was extremely oily- like you could drain it out and fill a cup. We came late after an evening at the NYBG and when Mario's across the street said they were closed (at 9pm on a Thursday?) we tried Enzo's and they seated us. Glad we came. Our meal overall was very satisfying. We don't have Italian food or come to Arthur Ave. very much but we were hungry and it was nearby. The beet salad was delicious wihich was served with grapefruit slices, goat cheese, candied walnuts and pinenuts and 2 kinds of beets. The clams oreganata while tasty was a little disappointing. They were very, very small, and at over $10 for six tiny clams, pricey. The pork osso buco and chicken francese were melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the tiramisu, a nice finish. With wine, our quick meal was $130 for 2. The gnocchi by the way with the pork was good too. Wish the chicken came with a starch too but like most Italian restaurants, the pasta is a separate order. Love the food but took a star off for the inconsistency in portion sizes among the dishes. read more

This was my first trip to Arthur Avenue, and I can't wait to go back to Enzo's! We were celebrating an 85th birthday, and the staff was so warm and inviting, but efficient. I'm sure they deal with tourists dining in their restaurants every day, but we were made to feel like we go there all the time. The food was amazing!!! My friend had a side of angel hair pasta with butter, and as simple as it sounds, it was the most perfect bite of al dente pasta I've ever eaten. Stay away if you have pride, zero sense of customer service. They are better than you and that's not up for debate - except that they are sorely mistaken. I ordered two trays of lasagna one meat and one vegetarian! When I spoke to Josephine over the phone, I specifically requested a vegetarian lasagna and she said that she could do that. When I went to serve the lasagna, I was shocked to find that it was just ricotta cheese inside with no vegetables! It was oily and watery and had no vegetables! Then meat lasagna was the worst I ever had! I've had better at Olive Garden and from my mother-in-law! The mozzarella, while fresh, was clumped and unmelted. It lacked sauce and it was too salty with big chunks of meat, instead of meat sauce. When I went to pick it up it was iced cold as they put it in the frig, because I was late. I just spoke to the head caterer and she apologized and said it was nothing she could do. I will never order from them again! read more

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The food was okay (very mediocre) but the service was terrible. The server we had kept glaring at us, not coming over, and ridiculing our order. The main issue was that I was charged twice and when I initially called the restaurant about this issue the woman on the phone seemed angry that I called and vaguely accused me of making it up. We went to Enzos on a miserable Saturday after seeing a show at the botanical gardens, it also happened to be Fordham's parent weekend and every restaurant was busy. I think Arthur Ave has better Italian food than Little Italy. Everyone of my experiences have been nothing but amazing but tonight it was under whelming. It was just average Italian food and it wasn't a busy night. I ordered the gnocchi and my boyfriend ordered the chicken parm. The chicken parm was watery and you couldn't substitute any pasta with spaghetti. The sauce though was very flavorful and the bread they gave with dinner was heavenly. Please go to Arthur Ave if you haven't. This just wouldn't be my first stop. read more
