I needed to think about my experience before writing this review, Enzos la Piccola certainly is a well-run restaurant and has quite an extensive menu. However, I feel that they are well overpriced for this area, it's not a thriving city center. regardless of that, they also have their own preparation methodology about how much to season their food. So what I mean by that is, I would say their seasoning is on the lower end, whereas letting the flavor of the food actually come out and letting the consumer choose how much to add to the meal to bring out the flavor profile, I felt for me it was kind of flat, and that I had to doctor the meal to bring out the flavor profile. The Ingredients were all super fresh. I just felt that perhaps their core Customer base may be older and they're more concerned about salt intake or spices; so in that case I asked my server to do a couple dances around my meal with a pepper mill and red pepper flakes. Service wise the team was on top of every table super friendly, and very courteous. Lots of great options however, again I like a flavor profile to go. Wow I want more than what I'm able to create in my kitchen is why I go out and I felt a spending almost $125 for two people was quite a lot considering what we had. Even the ricotta cheese Italian cheesecake dessert we took home, DRY no flavor, tossed it into the trash after 3 bites. More than likely, we won't be back, there are many other restaurants on my profile that I'm a five-star every single day and these are the ones I'll just have to stick to. Food is fair at best, but the upcharges are ridiculous. We were a party of 4, but I wasn't particularly hungry, so I ordered an appetizer (eggplant rollatini $16) as my dinner entree. The other 3 in our party all order entrees, so I agreed to be included in the family-style salad for an extra $7. When the bill came, they also tacked on a $10 charge for having an appetizer as an entree, which the server did not mention, nor is it printed on the menu. We had date night for the Lobster special and it was AMAZING!!! There was so much deliciousness it was difficult to take in! We are pretty regular lately at Enzo's and Anna and her wonderful staff never disappoint. It's one fantastic meal after another. The Lobster night is only a couple of weekends during the summer but after this out first this will become and annual event. This is Italian done correctly. I was craving Italian food and came across this cozy, family-owned restaurant on yelp. I wanted to try it out and I was happy that I did. The place wasn't big but very decorative and have a very warm welcome. I ordered a good amount of food with my partner. We got the calamari, portobello mushroom with spinach, white pizza, chicken marsala, and a veal dish. Everything tasted good, was very full at the end. The white pizza and the marsala are the only two things I won't get again. The flavor was decent but definitely had better elsewhere. The service was good and the food came out super fast which I love. If you want to try a local, authentic, family-owned Italian restaurant, I recommend this place. read more

Just forced Enzo's to stay open a little late (sorry!)! I rarely order dessert, but their Italian plum cobbler was (no lie) the best dessert I've had in 20 years, if not my life! I rarely order dessert, but would have that for dinner! The chicken thighs with peaches and burrata was fantastic. The apps - homemade sausage with shishito peppers and parmesan (who thinks of that?) was incredible, as was the octopus with Jersey corn. Perfect pairing! I've always missed the scallop and artichoke casserole appetizer, but will be never again! Anna and the staff are amazing. The food is something you cannot find anywhere else. I usually bring my family, but tonight I was there for business and we didn't want to leave! A hidden gem that makes you feel like home! I had remembered trying this place many years ago while I was working and thought it was really good. Came in here with High Hopes Sadly it did not live up to the reviews ormemories. I opted for the special pork chop With peaches and blue cheese topping. (Nj peaches are in season). The presentation looked good however the Porkchop itself was a disaster. I'm not a person who requires to be cooked well done however, mine was raw in the middle and tough as leather. As much as I hated to have it taken back I just could not eat it as is. This apparently must have really pissed somebody off in the kitchen because they took it and put it on what appeared to be A fajita plate with my mashed potatoes and sent it out spitting bubbling sauce all over me and the table. To add insult to injury it still was not cooked just burnt on the outside. By this time everybody else had finished eating. The waitress asked if it was any better and I told her no...She did offer to have it put back in the oven but at this point the damage was done. I tried to more bites and gave up. Spent nearly $100 and left disappointed hungry and two hours later sick to my stomach. No attempts to make it right but still gave 2 stars for friendly waitress and good bread with dipping sauce. read more

Small place in a strip mall but with large presence, history and quality! Enzo's is a real gem. The care and love in making the food can be immediately seen with all the details that accompany the experience. Delicate flowers are put on the outdoor seating to complement the delicious dinner. I ordered the mussels and clams special in garlic and oil sauce and it's to die for! The bread with the olive oil alone is a must have! The bread comes in piping hot from the pizza oven. The oil has a mixture of crushed roasted garlic and red peppers and it's a must have! The chicken with figs was absolutely fantastic and tender. I'm so glad that Enzo's survived the pandemic so I can enjoy coming when I'm in Nee Jersey for work. Their pizzas; which I tried before; are also amazing and very creative! So good. A few things to know, there's no pizza on Saturday. Also coupons aren't available (the 10% Yelp coupon) on Saturday. It's BYOW, and kind of pricey. We went to Enzo's last night to celebrate New Years. What a wonderful experience we had. The restaurant has a great ambiance. And a neighborhood feel with a ton of history. Our meal was delicious. I came here with my dining companion for Valentine's Day. The atmosphere was amazing -- they set up heart-shaped balloons and really V-Day'd it up for the occasion. The best part is that we couldn't make it out until Saturday and all the decorations were still up! The place is not really good for huge groups of more than 8. It's super quaint. I'd make a reservation just to be safe. The service was okay, but the owner was super sweet and made sure we were having a good experience -- which I really appreciate. As for the food, maybe it's because I didn't have wine, maybe it's because I'm not a connoisseur of real italian food, but I found it subpar. We ordered lobster ravioli for our appetizer and that just was not very good. The lobster just wasn't buttery enough to have much flavor. For my main dish, I ordered a creamy pasta. I'm usually a fan of creamy pasta and sun-dried tomatoes and prosciutto, but my dish was a little too creamy without much flavor. It was way too heavy, imo. My dining companion enjoyed his mussels, however. So maybe I just made a bad choice with creamy pasta? For desert, we got the ricotta cheesecake and the red velvet cheesecake. The ricotta cheesecake tasted a little like tres leches, like soggy cheesecake, and I was not a fan. The red velvet was okay, not phenomenal. Overall, my experience was "a-ok". read more

So I'm at the table right now with a party of 15 ppl (not including myself).. our waiter just told us, if we don't order dinner we will be charged $5 dollars add on because my husband didn't want dinner he only ordered an entrée... Those of us who remember and enjoyed the heyday of the Chambersburg section of Trenton, NJ, with Italian restaurants on practically every corner, felt a special sadness as one after another they began to close or move out of town to the suburbs. Over the last two decades as the neighborhood changed and the original families moved to greener lawns and better schools, they took most of their traditions and cultural institutions with them. When Amici's closed it's doors recently, the Italian era of this capital city was officially over. Yet, there is another casa Siciliana still going strong after 30 years at the same location. It might not be in the "Burg," but sure feels like it once you step inside. Enzo's sits almost invisibly on the northern end of Princeton Avenue in Lawrenceville, west of the Brunswick Circle. It is a small, cozy, darkly lit, romantic hideaway, where the Scozzari family has been running a pure Italian kitchen for two generations. I sure hope there is a third. Park in back and walk past the outdoor dining area, through the front door and then a second one on the right. Step down into the small dining room and be greeted by Anna, daughter of the namesake Enzo, who will seat you at one of only dozen or so tables, and hand you the menu. Moments later, the head waiter approaches with water and description of the available specials. There is a small lunch menu with soups, sandwiches, and pasta plates. They didn't have the Italian Hot Dog I desired (being removed from the menu), but the suggested alternative, their "World Famous Meatball Sandwich," sounded about right. And, it was. Excellently garlicked, crusty toasty Italian loaf, stuffed with hand-rolled meatballs, sauteed broccoli rabe, spinach and roasted red peppers, with a side a sweet tater fries, all on a large white round plate. Delicious! I like to deconstruction a sandwich and eat its elements separately to savor each ingredient. I did that for half and had a mouthful of flavor with each bite. It was unforgettable. The second half I attacked​ en masse. Cleaving through it and enjoying the texture and taste of each bite as they melded in my mouth. No red gravy here. Just each part doing its job to make me happy. Quite a total experience for a lunch. Got to go back for a romantic dinner soon with the woman of my dreams and a couple bottles of Chianti. Enzo's is the real thing. read more
