We went there for the first time and had great service and patience as we were not sure what to order. The sweet potato fries are waffle fries and came with honey mustard dipping sauce which is what I like!! I also tried the Nutella milkshake and it was the best Nutella milkshake I've had! If you're hungry, in a group, or even just looking for a straightforward burger spot near Loyola, I'd suggest skipping Epic Burger. Our group of 12 showed up around 8pm on a Monday night, typically a slower time you'd expect to grab a bite and relax. There was a family of 8 ahead of us, so we waited in line about 20 to 25 minutes but never even made it to the register. Figuring it might speed things up, I placed a $34.06 order through the Toast app. Shortly after, a young dark haired white woman working there informed us that all orders placed at the counter were takeout only, even though the restaurant was nearly empty and there was plenty of seating. She told us we couldn't eat inside, even though the place was open until 9pm. That made no sense, especially after waiting in line and ordering food through their app. I went up to the counter to explain we didn't realize there was no dine-in and asked to cancel our order. A male worker told us to cancel it through the app. Problem is, there was no cancel option available. So, I ended up paying for food we never received, and 11 others in our group walked out without spending a dime. We ended up grabbing dinner at a chicken chain down the street, and at least there, we were served with a little professionalism and respect. The food at Epic Burger? Never got to try it. The ambiance? Unavailable. The service? Easily one of the worst experiences I've had in Chicago. If you're on a tight schedule, especially as a Loyola student, save yourself the hassle. This place doesn't seem to value your time or your business. read more

A great spot for a halal burger. The grilled chicken and beef burger are both halal but not the rest of the meat. The burgers were brought out in less than 5 minutes. Great burger spot! Smash patties and notably fresh veggie toppings. Probably one of the few places you can get a "craft" burger for less than $10. Seriously fresh and tasty burger. It's cooked smash burger style with onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a special sauce. You have the option to customize toppings and they also have a double or triple patty option. Whoa! The menu has a bunch of other classic burger joint features including fries, fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, milk shakes and much more. I've lived in Chicago for 8 years and this was my first visit to an Epic Burger and I'm so sad I waited this long. The space was nice and there were tables outside as well. We were helped promptly and I liked seeing the food being cooked right there on the flat top. Our cashier was very friendly and we waited just a couple minutes for our food. The food was absolutely delicious! Fresh and well cooked. The sweet potato waffle fries were nice and crispy and well salted. I was walking past this afternoon after grocery shopping nearby and had to take advantage of their burgers and fries happy hour. The portions were extremely generous, the staff was friendly and the food came out quick and delicious. I can't wait till summer hits so I can sit outside with my dog and share. Nothing "Epic" about it. Fish sandwich image had the size of the fish exceeding the bread, I had to open it to find a very small piece of fish. Could have been awesome if sold as advertised. The beef patties are incredibly juicy and yet still firm enough so that they don't instantly fall apart when you pick up the burger to eat. The accompanying sides pair well with the burgers, as the fries are both crispy and properly seasoned, while the onion rings consist of a crunchy exterior and a juicy interior (with a rather pleasant, subtle sweetness from the natural flavor of the onion). 1st time and it was EPIC!!!! Von & Lalo were the absolute BEST! Hopefully, you go on a day when they are working. The burger was handmade fresh. It Looked good, but most of all tastes good. Grilled onions were perfectly cooked--not mushy or too crisp. The Fries were great too because most places offer skin-on natural fries. I liked that they were hand cut but skin-off. Of course--it's a Fry, but it's all in The details. I got a HANDMADE strawberry shake too. Delicious. Thick & Cold Goodness, and if you like whipped cream they pile it on thick!
