I have heard about Epic Burger from some of my coworkers and the other day, I had finally stopped there to try out this place. I believe this location just opened up. Got there about 1:30pm, no lines. Due to the limited menu, ordering was very easy. The order taker was very polite. After placing the order, we were given a number and asked to take a seat and the food runner would bring the food to you. Within a few minutes, we had the burgers and fries. The burgers were as good as my mom would make them. MMMMM Good! The fries were also very good. Not even close to McDonald's' standards. I've never been to this location, but I've seen Epic Burgers all around Downtown. I was in the area with my Son so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I got a regular burger and I added blue cheese. It was delicious. You have to pay for every side item on the burger (blue cheese, avocado, etc), including the fries (and even those are delicious), and that's one of the drawbacks for me. I was going to get a shake, but paying $6.99 for a shake that's the exact size of a red plastic cup is just too much for me. After I paid for 2 regular burgers with my extras, fries, and a drink..my total was $25 and some change. That's VERY expensive. Although, you can go to McDonalds and spend just as much..it's still wayyy too much. That's why it lost a star from me. Also, I asked for avocado on my burger and I believe, I paid extra for it..but it was not on my burger at all. My Uber came super quick and I didn't have time to get the credit back on my card. If they lower their prices just a tad..I would go there all the time!! The people at the register were really nice and pleasant. The location that reconciled me with Epic Burger. I had stopped going to the location on State Street and I donnot support companies that try to destroy the social fabric of America by refusing cash. In need for a fast casual burger near work I gave Epic a second chance and I was not disappointed. Great customer service, quality ingredients and they are about to give up the no cash policy! I really want to love Epic Burger, but every time I go to this location I have a slightly difficult time with the service. In the past, they have just been slightly rude to me while ordering, but the food is always correct and delicious. The last time I went to Epic Burger, I went for a $4 burger student promo. I told the cashier in the beginning that I wanted to use the promo and he told me I could. The woman next to me heard me ask about the promo, and asked if she could use the promo too, even though she went to a different school. The second cashier told her that she was not allowed to use the promo, but I know that wasn't accurate because my boyfriend was able to use the promo and he als goes to a different school as well. Unfortunately, I was also unable to get the promo because I was mischarged. My single burger with no additional add-ons was $8, and I don't really know how that would be possible with a $4 promo. I think the burgers and fries at Epic Burger are fantastic, but I have a hard time with their service. And to me, the price of the burgers does not cut it to keep me coming back. Sometimes becoming a chain and expanding isn't a bad thing... if the quality of the good product remains in tact or gets better. Epic Burger is known for cooking very tasty, quality burgers that are done right. This is the first day of a new 2-story location that replaces Grillers sandwich shop at the Loyola University campus on the Gold Coast. If you come today, avoid the stone step at the register. I mentioned the step as a hazard after banging my shin on it (it's dark blue, not easy to see) and a worker there said they were going to place a newspaper stand on it to remedy. Oh! Also about 8 people will come around to your table and ask you if everything is OK and if you need anything else. They seem a bit nervous, but are attentive and friendly. An abundance of good service is better than a universe of poor service, any day. One of the workers who relocated from Epic Burger's popular store on South State Street told me that they'd held their opening event on the previous day and were into their first day at this Pearson Street location. Since this store is within steps of Top Shop, Water Tower Place, Hershey, Argo Tea, and Ghirardelli's ice cream shop, I can imagine that it'll remain busy for some time to come. The restaurant is very clean and has a friendly atmosphere. We both got our own burger, what I like about this place is that it shows you what already comes on the burger standard and optional extras. The customer service is mediocre but the shakes are excellent. The menu options are endless. They have their own burgers and you can build your own burger, which is a big plus. I had the epic burger with beef on brioche, with lettuce, tomato, pickle, epic sauce, and grilled onions. I also got a side of fries. It's a good, decent burger. Definitely not the cheapest burger, but great to satisfy that craving. The fries are not the crispiest, so they're not my favorite fries, but decent. There is a lot of seating at this location, even has an upper floor. SO great place to have a quick bite to eat out of the cold. In the summer, they also have outdoor seating, probably not great after this cold week. read more
