Epic Burger is *very* poorly managed. Despite charging more than basically anywhere else on the planet for a burger, fries and milkshake, this and other Epic Burger locations really stand out for consistently hiring unprofessional or plainly bad employees. When I think of Epic Burger, terrible and inattentive service comes to mind. That's a pity, because the food is pretty good and this is a problem easily solved and well-managed by most any other restaurants. Some locations stand out for adequate service, like the one on North Avenue, and some have improved somewhat, like the one in the south loop. But since it has opened this one has been consistently bad. The service on my last visit was, in fact, deliberately bad. I was intentionally made to wait with no other orders in process and with my order already completed, just sitting waiting to given to me, because that's just what the employee wanted to do. On the prior visit, my boyfriend's request for condiments was simply ignored. Food was brought to our table with an eye-rolling huff, as if we patrons were bothering the people who were supposed to be working. This location of Epic Burger needs to get its act together. read more

Yeah, I dunno. I was excited to try this place for awhile now, finally did today on my way home. Service, as others have stated, is pretty poor. I don't require a gleaming smile or anything, but the cashier basically barked out burger options at me and silently handed me back my card. I expected a receipt of some sort, but instead ended up standing at the register dumbfounded until the cashier managed a curt (yet sassy?) "uh, you already paid." Yeah, I can laugh it off, but c'mon, does it kill ya to at least be somewhat cordial? When it's your job? Sigh. The burger was fine, I guess. Maybe I've had enough fast casual burgers by now that none of them really wow me, they're just somewhere in-between a crappy McDouble and an actual good hamburger, with the same price as a regular burger. Nothing different here. Fries are pretty good, they've got the skin on 'em, they're fresh, and come in a pretty large order. I'd get them again. Not sure about the burger. It is worth noting that the drink machine is pretty much right where the line forms, so you get to fill your cup and hope you don't elbow any waiting customers in the gut! Also they don't have iced tea, just Brisk, which feels super weird in a place like this. You'd expect some decent tea right? Nah, have a Brisk. And maybe I'm being nitpicky, but the whole sustainable material packaging goes from a nice gesture to a meaningless gimmick when you see how much they package your burger and fries combo in. Burger in one of those recycled paper takeout containers, fries in a paper bag (these are both fine), then a huge, shopping bag-sized paper sack to hold your meager fries and burger. What? This just feels clunky. For a chain like this, you'd think they'd invest in a slightly more minimalistic solution for takeout, something that doesn't make their focus on "sustainability" seem like little more than a marketing ploy. It's not the worst thing in the world, but something worth improving on in the future. Yep. Overall, not so epic. Maybe a little overrated. Probably overpriced. Mostly just left me feeling a bit weird about the whole experience, like it was all somewhat poorly conceived. Go for the fries. read more

Everyone always talks about Epic Burger, the best burger you can eat. I agree. I had a Halal Epic Burger for the first time back in summer of 2016. I was blown away with the first taste. Probably my favorite fast-food burger joint in Chicago. Meat patties are delish and actually taste like beef without all the filler that you'll get at a lot of other places. I always recommend getting the Epic Burger with the works (add the cheese, fried egg, and bacon. You won't be sorry). Shakes and smoothies are great as well (though I try to avoid them since the burger itself is probably indulgent enough...) My only (very minimal) gripe is that thick-cut fries aren't my favorite - I prefer shoestring ones since I think they tend to be more flavorful, and I just like my fries crispy. So Epic Burger's fries aren't my all-time favorite, but the burgers more than make it worth the trip. read more

The EPIC burger is indeed epic, a towering handful of lightly sweet whole-wheat bun filled with fresh produce and beefy smashed patty. As someone who is not prone to being impressed with claims of all-natural organic eating, I will admit that I could taste the higher quality in these ingredients and appreciate how generous the staff at this location was with their bacon. This place exceeded my expectations (which are always low when it comes to burger places). I am personally not a big burger person and the only burgers I will eat is In and Out when at home in California. Epic Burger's burger was really good. Great Burger! Won't go as far as to say it was 'Epic' but still pretty darn good. You can customize it like crazy, which is surprising given their simple menu. But I threw an egg (sunny-side up) on there and some bacon and was pretty satisfied with the messy results. I was able to squeeze all that in between a whole wheat bun too, alleviating some of my diet-related guilt. Also, the regular-sized single patty was more than enough to fill a big guy like me up. Epic Burger? No. More like OK Burger. Their menu seems so simple--yet high-priced--that I almost walked back out, but then I noticed that they had fried eggs for the burgers and got back in line. I could have just as well kept walking. So I got the burger with blue cheese and egg. The cashier specifically asked me if I wanted the egg hard or over easy, and what's the point of a hard-cooked egg on a burger? No extra drippy-deliciousness, might as well leave it off. Anyway, my two add-ons drove the price over eight dollars. And it was a decent sandwich overall. I say "sandwich" because the burger itself was so thin it got lost in all the condiments and components. Oh yeah, and the egg was cooked hard. Sigh. Was in Chicago Last summer on a sightseeing trip and came across Epic Burger after a long day of walking around the city. We couldn't agree on a place to eat so we came to the first food place we found and it happened to be Epic Burger. WOW I'm so glad we did. The food was FANTASTIC! A bit pricey but we soon found out it was because all of their food is Organic and All Natural. I had a classic epic burger with sea salt fries. Delicious. I have eaten both the turkey and beef versions and have found them absolutely delicious, fries likewise. The burger is a nearly perfect culinary invention. Efforts to improve this dish, usually wind up as detractions. I returned after my nightmare of first experience (see review below) for breakfast. Very good. And I mean very, very good. Ordered the egg sandwich with bacon and cheddar, added tomato on wheat bun. Truly an epic breakfast sandwich. I know they are messing around with breakfast right now but they are on to something. However, I would like to see an option other than fries for a side. I understand it's a burger joint, but fries do not sound appealing when I am grabbing a meal before work at 8AM. The price is on point to. Sandwich and coffee for a little over $6. Compare that with McDonalds breakfast and you are paying a dollar more for a lot better food! This is our favorite place to go during our lunch break at work. The workers here are so nice and always give great service! They are definitely on top of their game! I usually get the junior epic burger with cheese bacon and everything else on it. It's such a huge serving and it's so delicious! We come here atleast once a week! There's nothing I enjoy more than a burger experience I can still enjoy as a vegetarian. Their portobello burger is out of this world and well worth the price. You can top it anyway you want it with stellar ingredients. The option of having a side salad versus the fries is also a nice touch, but come on, why are you there, gotta get the fries.
