Epic Burger is close by, predictable, and good. I can speak only of their turkey burger, which is delicious and filling. My stomach never rebels after I eat this version of "fast food". Also their peanut butter smoothie is unbelievable if you're craving something sweet. They list the calorie content too, which always makes me feel better since I typically overestimate calories by about 1000. This is an easy choice when I want something fast and in the neighborhood. The burgers are delicious and if it wasn't for the price and costs of extra this would be a 4 star review. The fries are fresh and crisp though there is only one size it is definitely made to share. The organic ketchup adds the perfect umami flavors to them. The burgers are quite scrumptious. I have ordered one with and without cheese. I believe the meat is high enough grade the cheese is unnecessary. The grilled onions are a must. Atmosphere is average and clean. Similar to a chipotle feel. The staff are attentive and friendly. The price is the only thing that gets me. $6 is a lot in my opinion for a burger alone (no extras) though the meat is high quality. Buns are never soggy. Too greasy! It's a cute, clean joint but the food is far too messy. I got the regular epic with havarti, grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, and their sauce on a wheat bun. Honestly my first time at an epic burger was about 2 weeks ago , i was very impressed with how they worked today during the time I was there , I got my food super fast , I had to ask for names because the service was very good . Daisy was very understanding explaining how the menu worked and prices. One of the cooks even asked how my day was going . I went back to Epic burger today exactly a year after from my last review and felt the need to update my review. I'm going to upgrade my score to 4 stars because the food was good today, but the prices still seem outrageous to me. I got an Epic burger with cheese and bacon and a peanut butter shake - no drink and no fries, and it still came to $13! The burger tasted really good and the shake was delicious, it's just the price that keeps me away from 5 stars. Oh, and I was very pleased to see that they now have regular mustard available - earlier this year I was there and they only had dijon mustard, which just isn't the same to me on a burger. Well I went here on my work lunch break and got a cheeseburger with grilled onions and fries it took maybe 6 or 7 minutes but seemed like a nice atmosphere I got my order and was out the door.. of course I had lettuce tomato dijon mustard which taste wayyy better than regular mustard on the burger ketchup and the fries were really good homemade fries I believe you get your money worth with it being all natural beef I spent maybe 10 dollars 2 dollars less and you can settle for Mcdonalds.....The burger itself could be a tad more seasoned but I would go back deelish read more

I have eaten at this location on the Gold Coast and also the Lincoln Park location. At about 11:30 a.m. I was at the 40 E Pearson location. The price for a burger topped with cheddar, grilled onions, pickle and tomato on a wheat bun and fries (just water to drink) had increased by a couple of dollars so I paid $13.67. The new credit card machine has the option of leaving a tip which I didn't do because this is still fast food. The food was barely lukewarm and the fries were soggy and greasy - fried at too low of a temperature. The black rap music playing was awful - this is the Gold Coast not the South side and the clientele is white - why are we being subjected to rap music? I have never used the washrooms at this location but because I had grease all over my hands after a lunch which I had only partially consumed, the rest going into the garbage, I had to find the washrooms. The washrooms are not in the restaurant. They are down the hallway of the building in which the restaurant is located. These are unisex restrooms and I'm grateful that I didn't have to use it except to wash my hands. I may go to the Lincoln Park location again but I will never go to the 40 E Pearson location again which is within walking distance of my River North condo. The staff needs to be trained on how to cook fries and how to serve food at the proper temperature. The music being selected should be appropriate for the location and clientele. read more

Ordinarily I don't take myself out for lunch when I come downtown to volunteer at my church, but I was famished yesterday and Epic Burger had just opened up for lunch, so I ducked in. The counter staff was helpful as I built a beef patty between a lettuce "bun" and loaded with every good thing they had--a fried egg, a little guacamole, really good pickles and some Roma slices and onion. Special sauce on the side. What arrived was so artful and good looking that I snapped a pic (look, I'm a 60yr old suburban lady, I don't usually do that-!). Best burger I've had in some time (and we went to Shake Shack on Sunday after mass--No Comparison! Epic has wonderful choices and you build from there. My spectacular burger and a Diet Pepsi came to $13. Not ridiculous for the quality. I was so impressed that I went back to the register to thank the chef--a very capable Tony, complimented the manager Greg and told him what a great experience it was for me to be so well taken care of by Taylor and Alejandra who do the bussing and register--I absolutely wanted all their names and took a picture just because their service was every bit as good as that burger. Highly recommend! I go here for lunch everyday when I'm at work. Burgers are fantastic and made to order (make sure to get the epic sauce). You also get a choice in bun (wheat/white). After checking into the Talbott Hotel, we went on a search for something quick for lunch. We, luckily, ended up at Epic Burger. One of the main reasons we stopped was the fact that they had shaded outside tables. The staff was helpful and the food was very good. My burger juicy and had good flavor. Good place if you need something non-Desi halal in downtown Chicago. They serve Creekstone farms beef which is Zabihah certified. However only beef is halal. Now to the burger. I got a double classic with grilled onion, cheese and sauce. The sauce is pointless, lacking any flavor. However the burger and meat itself is good. The meat is on the more well done side with not too much flavor. The grilled onions and cheese go well with the mix. It is well priced for being in downtown. The fries are good too. I've raved about the staff at Epic Burger on Clark street in the past. But service here is beyond incredible for a burger joint - staff was very accommodating & repeatedly asked what they could provide us. When we asked separately about utensils then ketchup then malt vinegar on Friday afternoon when Ivan delivered our food to our table Ivan didn't just point out where we could find them but each of 3 times cheerfully delivered them to our table! Cheerful & prompt service is often hard to get at a restaurant where I am paying a significant tip but is unheard in my experience at places which employ young employees who don't have receipt of tip $ as an upside for delivering great service! Congrats on great training & execution to management! I still rate their burger as tasting better (and delivered much quicker) than at Five Guys, which I love. And I love love love Epic's grilled Portobello mushroom sandwich with blue cheese and raw onions which I've never seen elsewhere. I was all excited to see their sustainable policies, but the price was ridiculous for quality of the food. They charge extra for every topping, and that results in a very un-epiclike burger if you don't want to drop $11 for a meal at a fast food joint. I'm perfectly happy to spend more on more environmentally friendly options but the food wasn't even good. The whole burger was flat, greasy, and heavy. For a store toting organic/sustainable ingredients, they sure don't do them justice. We LOVE Epic Burger! They seriously win my favorite burger award as well as favorite shake award. I love a good burger and they serve awesome burgers. We like them with bacon and egg. I usually have to cut mine in half because they are too big for me. Don't get me start on their AWESOME shakes. My favorite is off the menu... peanut butter and chocolate. I choose my calories VERY WISELY, but I do splurge from time to time on that. We also love that they are hormon free... good for you type meat.
