Great local shop with a great owner and staff. They have the standard comics and can special order specialty items. If you have them hold your comics you get a free bag and board for each which is nice if you're collecting. Good selection of figures and other collectibles too. Support your local comic shop!

Epic Comics is a fairly new comic shop in the Waterford area. It's a small, but open-spaced and refreshing store. Not typical of comic shops that are often dark and over crowded with rows upon rows of squished shelving. I'm not the most savvy comic person, but the guys there help you find what you need and do it with a smile. And if they don't have what you're looking for, it's only an order away. Even if you're not a big comic book fan, you should make a stop to look at the amazing Sharpie art covering the walls. For those really into the comics and looking to make a day out of it, there is a cozy couch area playing movies round the clock and friendly faces all around.

This is my favorite comic book shop in town. Like many comic book fans who do not mind a long drive to their favorite shop on New Book Wednesday, I am very glad that this shop opened up on the East side in the Waterford Lakes area near my home. I prefer patronizing the mom & pop comic book store rather than the chain comic shops or even large mart bookstores. Although it is a mom & pop shop, it is not at all like your typical dusty and overcrowded comic book shop. The first thing you will notice is the front display of the latest and greatest graphic novels (right now there is life size, hand-painted Dark Side Yoda on display with these books) and the sharpie art on the walls. The latest comics are along one wall. There are collectibles (figures, art, statues) throughout the store. At the back of the store are shelves of graphic novels with a couch and television in back usually with a few patrons hanging out playing video games or watching the latest comic book movie. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about comics. They appear to keep updated on the comic book industry -- not just the mainstream comics and comic book movies that come out but they are familiar with the writers, inkers, and colorists as well. They also take orders from Previews which is great for the type collectibles that fill my shelves (Japanese designer toys and manga/anime) and since they do not have a large selection of collectibles and other related comic book/pop culture merchandise. One of the best things about this comic shop is that they have also embraced digital comics. Instead of believing that digital is the end of brick & mortar shops, they offer a link on their website to Comixology to purchase your digital books through their own digital store. Now I do not have to feel guilty turning to digital books for their convenience while still supporting my local store. My only hesitation to giving this store 5-stars is that I would like to see more graphic novels, collectibles and other related comic book merchandise that some of the other local comic shops offer.

A bit small and looks shady... but has a good selection of comics. From afar, you cannot even tell it's Epic Comics, just a random comic book store due to the sign outside.

Everything is where it should be--grouped by theme or franchise--so browsing feels more like exploring a curated pop culture museum than digging through clutter at some grungy and junky comic shop. The selection is fantastic: from comics and statues to posters, small plush, otaku, Pops, action figures, high-end collectibles, and more! Whether you're a gamer, a movie buff, sci-fi fan, or just love cool merch, you'll find something to geek out over for sure. The staff? Genuinely great. Friendly, welcoming, and super knowledgeable without being pushy. You can tell they love what they do, and it will make your experience that much better. You can actually have a real conversation with these guys! I am so tired of visiting stores that hire snotty, vacant, or indifferent employees. You DO NOT have to worry about that here. Oh, and they've got a geek bar inside the back of the store. Seriously. It was a bit too early in the day for me to grab a drink but it looked awesome the way it was decorated, so I'm definitely coming back with my wife some evening (and hopefully soon!). Plus, they're open late--huge win. Also, the location is perfect... right off International Drive and not far from Universal Studios. Whether you're a local or visiting Orlando, this is a must-stop spot. Highly recommended.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, which made the visit even better. While we wish they sold more masks and costume accessories, we were pleasantly surprised by how many cool items they did have. The store is very clean and well-organized. Highlights included the giant Gremlins and Pokémon vending machine, though sadly it was out of order, it was still fun to see! We also noticed a neat speakeasy out back that we definitely want to check out next time. Overall, this is a great spot for any nerd, collector, or cosplayer. We really enjoyed our visit and plan to come back!

I arrive soon after they opened and interacted with the employees immediately. I was told and if I need anything to just let them know, and I just said, dice. They appointed me to the back of the store and told me where they would be. I wandered them back and took a look at their selection. I immediately found a set that would fit the bill for this occasion. I looked through a bunch of the store before having someone get them from the cabinet for me. I felt that I did really good because I only bought one comic book. I love these stores because everyone is friendly that works in them and I can always find way too many things that I want to buy. If you have young children that are struggling to start reading, you should consider starting them on comic books and getting them to actually read the words in them because it has been proven that children who start with comic books tend to learn to read younger, and then read throughout their lives . Obviously, you should only buy things that you feel are safe for your children, and there is always something to fit that bill.

But upon arrival, I can tell that it was a pretty laid-back please. The desk clerk was very knowledgeable about the games and their history, as well as some nostalgic items that were available. They also have lots of Funko pops if you're into that type of thing. I even like the way they use the ticket gun to price various items in the store. It reminded me of the old school candy store with the little stickers label posted on it. The items look well cared for and wrapped very thoroughly and methodically. I believe lots of the items are fairly priced and not overwhelmingly expensive. I was most impressed with the miniature video game console that sat at the front counter that pre-dated the Atari. What surprise me most about this location is that they had a actual arcade in the back with various games from the 80s like contra, galaxa, pong, Qbert, dig, dug, streetfighter, or Pac-Man, and they even had a racing game. Even though it was not a very, very large arcade, It really did bring back quite a bit of memories.
