This review is for their grooming services only. Took my doggo to get groomed by Maddie who did a great job with him. He is a rescue and is very skittish and has a ton of anxiety so I had many reservations taking him in anywhere to get groomed. When they called me (not sure who) the person was very kind and reassured me that their groomers have experience with skittish dogs. He came out looking great and not showing signs of stress. Should you sign up? Heck yes! Is it worth the money? Heck yesss! My puppy was pure chaos and life with 2 dogs was kicking my butt. I didn't know what I should be doing and kept trying different things to get my puppy to listen which created inconsistency and made his behavior worse. I was losing the war and starting to not enjoy my squishy puppy. My bigger dog was reactive on the leash and quickly teaching the puppy to do the same. I am probably on ring cameras all over my neighborhood getting tangled in leashes and hollering my way down the street at the mercy of over 100lbs of dogs. Epic gave my dogs a solid foundation and all the tips and tricks and advice even after getting them back made me feel like I had a safety net. You aren't just paying for 2 weeks and then good luck Chuck, you are paying for trained dogs.. huge difference. They help you beyond the classes and make sure you are on the road to success and you can feel the support. I have also been taking my dogs to camp and that has helped get out the puppy energy and reinforces the training. My dog has always had some issues with other dogs and people. He has this aggression and bad behavior that is just so embarrassing! I just couldn't take it anymore and began researching online for dog trainers. I quickly found Epic Dog Academy and reached out. This was a big step for me because I am very protective and trust almost no one with my dogs. I spoke with Olivia and scheduled a consultation. Olivia has been wonderful from day 1. My schedule is a little hectic and Olivia was beyond patient with me when I had to reschedule the consultation 5 times. The day of the consult Vince came over and spent about an hour with Obie and me. I immediately got a great feeling about him and the company and told my boyfriend I wanted to schedule. Obie went to their boarding camp for two weeks and seemed to have a great time. One of the million things I loved about this company is that they are constantly posting pictures on their social media so the owners can keep up on how their pups are doing. It made me so happy to see my Obie smiling and walking around with dogs and not reacting! Another big thing to me was how amazing Olivia was with me. I am definitely a lot to handle and she took every phone call or text I sent her. I was so appreciative of her and her communication with me. Arturo trained with Obie and it seems they got along great. He was also very thorough in explaining what I need to do when I bring Obie home. We are now working on our at home training with Vince and about to begin group classes. Obie has only been home for 5 days and I cannot begin to express the progress he has made. The training works and everyone there is very compassionate towards the dogs! You make a life long relationship when you send your dog to epic. You really are part of the family. What can I say about this place. Vince and crew did an amazing job! Two weeks does wonders. He has only been back a couple of days but what an amazing transformation. We have walked him 4 times since and no pulling. My 11 and 9 year old enjoys walking him. Went to petsmart for a grooming and he just lay there next to me as we waited for the groomer. Didn't mind the other dogs around. He hasn't jumped on us since coming home and has not been vocal with other pets on the other side of the wall. We have a Great Dane and he is a big boy! He ruled the house and we had a very difficult time getting him to listen to anything! He has been at Epic Dog Academy for three weeks and we picked him up yesterday and you would never believe the difference! Alpha can be aggressive towards strangers and since he is so big, I was worried. By using "off" I've been able to keep him at my side without barking or running towards the mailman or our neighbor walking their dog (I would of never stood a chance before!) My 160lbs boy doesn't pull when I'm walking him, knows commands such as "sit" "place" "down" and others! I am beyond happy with the results, and now our other Great Dane is with them and can't wait to see her results! Lulu had not learned the 9 commands, she did not try to get away from me to be with the trainer, which is an utter lie, I also have video footage from that day to prove my points! Like I said in my previous statement, the trainer was calling out commands then shocking her several times and pulling on her leash in order to get her to do the commands. That is not what I call learned commands!!! A couple days prior to me sending her off to your academy, I had lulu groomed. I clean and brush her everyday. After I picked her up, she was matted so badly, that I had to call mobile groomer to help me. The day I signed off, I just wanted to take my poor puppy home. She had lost her voice, she sounded raspy,she was more aggressive ! Basically she never learned the 9 commands, the behavior modification, she's become more aggressive, her nose was skinned, and she was completely matted. We signed up our pup before this whole covib mess started and luckily were able to get his first board and train completed. After returning and with some repetitive work I have a very obedient golden retriever pup. So much of what they teach is training the owner as well as the dog because a lot of what we do is doing the opposite for our dogs. I am more than satisfied with their service and their team members, especially Arturo who does our in home trainings. We still have a ways to go in our program and I am looking forward to seeing more positive changes with my pup. We have trained two of our dogs with Vince and both have very different personalities. One of our boys has severe aggression issues toward people and dogs, he has had it since we rescued him at 5 months. After his training we are able to live life with him. He can meet new people in a controlled environment as well he is able to go to the river and be a normal dog. We use his training and commands everyday and it has turning into a game for him while we practice. The other was a normal puppy who just needed basic obedience and everywhere we go we are complimented on his amazing behavior. Camping, Hiking and just running errands isn't a hassle with him. When he is off leash he will stay by your side and could care less what is going on around him. What ever your needs are Vince and The crew have you covered. These people saved our sanity! We have an eight year old bull terrier (if you own one you know how stubborn this breed is) who is the biggest lover girl BUT was extremely aggressive with big dogs. We love her so much but after multiple incidents we began searching for help. Epic Dog Academy had our girl for four weeks and WOW! I almost couldn't even believe how much she had learned and her changed obedience. We were worried about just dropping her off but we were at our last resorts. They are very efficient and knowledgeable. The owner, Vincent, came to our house in Newport Beach and explained in great detail what their various programs and costs were. References were no problem. What most impressed me was the planned follow up after the dog's stay at the Academy. They post videos and pictures on the internet during the dog's stay. They said that the initial stay is usually 2 weeks, but could be more (at no extra cost) depending on the dog's progress. In my case, the dog stayed a little over 3 weeks. When we picked her up, Lailynn, one of the trainers, spent about one hour with us teaching and showing us how to continue the training, and showing us what we needed to do. She also returned to our home in Newport about 2 weeks later to check and see how we were doing, and to answer any questions. We are now meant to attend graduate reunions run by Vincent or one of the trainers every two weeks. These are held in Newport Beach on the weekends twice per month. We also signed up for the plan which includes advanced training off leash which is in 6 months. Overall, I give them full marks for providing exactly what they promised in a very professional and efficient and friendly fashion. I recommend them highly. I had tried a different training program in Long Beach ten years ago with a previous dog of mine, and I can unequivocally say that Epic Dog Academy was night and day superior. I'd like to give a special thanks to Lailynn, one of the trainers, who is very pleasant, kind, accommodating and efficient in working with us when we picked up the dog, as well as at our home in Newport Beach. This is our 2nd time at Epic. We had such good results with Behavior Modification with our older dog we decided to send our puppy to Epic for Basic Obedience Training. Blossom came back happy and knowing all the commands. I also asked for her to be bathed the day she was coming home and she was super clean and smelled great. We are working with her at home in short bursts since she is young and her attention span isn't very long. This place knows dogs. I have a VERY aggressive Rottweiler, who is the sweetest most loving dog in the world with my wife and I, and who could literally kill basically anyone else for looking at her. We have been trying for months to find a trainer who has the patience and knowledge to work with her. Most run in fear, or else tell us they are great with aggressive dogs and get no results. Most are a waste of money. What working with Vince and his team taught me is that most "professionals" know absolutely nothing about dogs. But these guys stand out as truly elite. Vince and his team took our dog Kira for three weeks of boot camp. They rewire her brain in a humane way that has made it possible for us to keep this loving but aggressive monster in line. It was night and day. Vince even came out to my house the week after we got her back to give me a training lesson on how to make sure she is sticking to the regiment. If you have a dog who needs obedience training and you've been trying to find someone who actually knows what they are doing but can't, then go with these guys. They are amazing. They're good people too, the type you want to work with. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
