I love Epoch Coffee as I am a fan of their coffee and I love what they did with the place. It seems as though it was a former auto repair place from what I can tell. I might be wrong but I've been here 2 or 3 times and they have great service and good pastries too! read more

I love Epoch coffee itself, but have never liked the dark, dirty, cramped Anderson location. I have never once actually hung out there. They have the same great quality staff, and unique roasted coffee selection to choose from for pour overs, aeropress, or other coffee drinks. The Project Congo Muungano coffee for the pour over they have right now by Kickapoo coffee is uniquely intriguing. Its the most interesting coffee I have had. It was very different, but I loved it. It smelled like chicken soup, and had many unique layers of flavors. It was complex, hearty, and rich. That's the bonus of Epoch. They are always rotating their coffee selection, so you can always try something different. The space is clean, inviting, and naturally lit with large windows. The space is open and has several community tables, and a couple of smaller tables tucked away in the corners. They were clever in hanging power cords from the ceiling to plug into, making more spots available near power outlets. They have a small space outdoors with a couple of tables to sit at that is dog friendly. The only downside of this location is that there is very limited and narrow parking available. I had to park on the street. If you park at Goodwill or next door there are signs noting they will boot your car. They do offer some slices of East Side Pies and baked goods from Clever bakery to snack on. read more

I would like to share a story of something that happened today that really shook me up. I visited our local coffee shop Epoch Coffee for the first time with my daughter's best friends Mom. It was our first time to grab coffee and I thought it would be fun to try out Epoch. I got there and she was asked to sit outside. I went in not knowing there policy, and was asked to put a mask on, did not have one but thoughtfully complied and put on the mask they offered. The lady was the short with me about my order saying I could just put my own honey and cinnamon in. Ok cool. So I go over and wait by the honey and cinnamon and the gal sets my drink on the opposite and says your drink is ready... ok I walk around get and return to the honey and cinnamon. Prepare my drink, and pulled my mask to my chin to sip and taste it.... The woman yelled "I told you to wear a mask", I said "I'm just making sure I added the right amount of sugar" (while I had my mask back on), to which she yelled "get out." Ok went and sat down at a table with my new friend... this woman walked outside and told us "if we didn't like her rules we could leave and never come back" to which we said look we followed your rules and are just trying to enjoy the drinks we just paid for. We do not plan on returning. She called us (Bit**es) then walked back inside. Then walked back outside and yelled "Y'all need to F****** Leave or I'm calling the cops. And called us the B word again." We told her she was welcome to call the cops on us. A kind man who witnessed the whole thing who was also complying with the rules, thankful stood up for us. I'm not here to have any kind of debate nor do I believe in not being kind and following the rules of a company. I'm simply here to say that I was completely disappointed with what I thought was going to be a friendly neighborhood coffee shop. I've never in my life had someone react so poorly, honestly I just felt sorry for her that she was so reactive and on edge. I thought I would share as both my friend and I were just grateful we did not have our children with us. I would not want any other neighbor to hav eta experience that... it was awful as we were both shaking. read more

Really disappointed in this new location... I came here to get some work done and found a paper note on the door that said they had to closed because employees were not able to get to work. All the while, seeing two gentlemen walking around inside. This is not a good move for a new business, especially one in this area. If you want to be reliable, be open when you say you're going to be open. read more

They had a lot to live up to with the Epoch name, and they've done it. All-star "above and beyond" service, great music, great WiFi, power outlets everywhere, great patio, love the location, and love the mix of industrial decor with living colors. Probably the best Epoch for getting work done, and just enough outside of the "hubbub" that it really adds to the laid back atmosphere. Huge fan! read more

Had a really odd customer service experience here the other week. Came in on a Sunday at 5:40pm about two weeks ago. I ordered a cup of coffee "for here" and the guy behind the counter asked me "Would you mind if I give it to you in a 'to go' paper cup?" I said I would prefer a ceramic cup (tastes better) and he replies that he didn't want to give me one because (get this), he "didn't want to have to wash the cup afterwards." I assumed that maybe he was getting ready to close (although there were still about a dozen people in the place) but I thought I ask what time closing was anyway. He said: "We don't close until 7pm..." (almost an hour and a half from the present time) but then he added: "if I gave everyone a ceramic cup I'd have to stick around to 9pm doing dishes." (Again, they weren't closing for another hour and 20 minutes!) With that comment, I just thanked him for his time and left to find a more hospitable coffee shop. read more

I love that they took over an old garage and brought a coffee shop to this area. The coffee, tea and food is great as at other Epoch's. I wish it was more comfortable and less cold. It's hard to have conversation because of loud music and echos and my metal chair was tight and uncomfortable. I'm hoping they evolve to make the space more inviting for meeting up with friends and not just a work space. read more

I have visited this Epoch location on 3 occasions. All 3 times I have had excellent service and wonderful drinks. I ordered a latte twice and a white pomegranate tea the last time. The tea was served in a teapot and was plentiful. I found the staff friendly and knowledgeable and the store very clean. I love supporting this local business! read more

I've been here many times. Hate to leave a bad review, but this experience can't go without a voice. Positive- They have big tables, great for working. Coffee isn't bad either... Negative- There is not enough parking here and so many people park directly across the street at the strip mall where there is plenty of parking. Apparently the own of the strip mall is a real jerk. My car was booted and they held me ransom for $150. Apparently completely legal and totally unexpected. Went back into Epoch for help and they said they will do nothing for me. They wouldn't talk to the people or make any calls. They also stated that this happens a lot. I was shocked and they couldn't care less. So if you go and the parking is full, just keep driving. read more

I like the other locations and the coffee is good. I've been to this location about five times now, and my low rating is entirely for the building. It's a former oil change place and it's all concrete and hard surfaces. It's very loud inside when it gets busy. One morning was apparently "screaming toddler happy hour" and it just echoes. It's not a quiet coffee shop to study, it's more like a loud cantina on a Saturday. Some of the baristas like to jam the music which does not help.They also went cheap with the chairs at the small tables, they're already bending when you sit. The two long tables are also a bit too high for the chairs so a laptop is uncomfortable, they need to replace the black metal chairs with adjustable barstools (like Vintage Heart Coffee over on East 7th) for their long tables. But the noise is just a killer, which is only going to get worse as they get more popular. read more

This morning I tried to order a coffee to go, I had my puppy with me because he had finished puppy lessons down the street. I was rudely told by a staff member the City of Austin didn't allow them to have dogs. I understand and respect health codes but I could have been offered to order and step outside but instead was made to feel like I had to leave. Put a sign on the door that says dogs aren't allowed, you have one that tells people not to park in the salon parking lot. Or simply tell someone as they order that "hey for next time we can't have dogs in here." Customer service goes along way. Also, I doubt the City of Austin is discriminating against your establishment. There are lots of Austin restaurants and coffee shops that are dog friendly. It's more respectable to admit you choose not to allow dogs, which is 100% ok, than to blame the no kill dog friendly city for it. I love their W Anderson location and I'm pretty sure I've seen dogs there which is why I went to Epoch to begin with but definitely won't be back to this location. read more

It's a great place for coffee and to work or study, IF you're able to find a table or parking spot. I've gone 3 times this week and haven't gotten a spot, so I just leave. I think it's mostly because there is just a demand for more coffee shops here, as opposed to being Epoch's fault. Otherwise, it's a very chic place. Sometimes, a lady that works there sings your name when your order is ready, and I'm not about that as it's distracting and awkward. read more

Rude waiter/owner(?) called me out for not tipping to his liking. If your minimum tip is $1 for a $2.50 drink, that's 40%.

Awesome coffee shop inside a renovated Jiffy Lube esce garage. They ice coffee is fantastic and they have really good espresso. Cool neighborhood local place with great vibes. read more

I am already a fan of the N Loop and W Anderson locations, and I'm so glad to see them expand onto Far West! The area needed a coffee place and Epoch will be great addition. So far I've only sampled the hot chocolate and the WiFi, both delivered as expected. read more

Great place to catch up with a friend or to get some work done. I love the chai tea latte. I wish they had longer hours though. I would go all the time to study but it closes at seven so I go to Starbucks instead because it's open til ten but I'd much rather go to epoch! I care more about it being open later at night than early in the morning but I would go early in the morning too. Overall amazing place but somewhat inconvenient hours. Good to pick up a drink but it's only open during the work day. Please extend the hours I'd go so much more often!! read more

I finally ventured in and I was predisposed to be wary given the reviews but I loved the place. Met a friend for coffee and breakfast pastry. I found the music to be not-too-loud (and I'm the first to complain), the cappucino to be expertly prepared, the strawberry-banana bread to be tasty and moist, and the staff to be entertaining. It was a perfect spot to catch up. As far as the lack of outlets, perhaps the owners are not all that interested in patrons camping out for the day. Perhaps they are not in business to be your private office. I appreciate the space just the way they fixed it up and look forward to making it my "go to" for get together. read more
