I've been here twice in as many days. The mocha with coconut milk is excellent. It is the perfect temperature on delivery to immediately drink- something I don't generally find to be the case at coffee shops. I don't need to scald my mouth off when drinking a coffee. It's a pretty big place and seems like it would be nice to work in. They have power cords hanging for the ceiling for the people who choose to do that. Worth visiting. read more

This Epoch coffee is epic! (I know- eye roll, no one says "epic" anymore mom! Gah.) But honestly, this old jiffy lube- converted into a coffee shop really is fantastic! I try to come here when I can. This location is always buzzing but not loud. There's no drive thru and the parking is often full but the latte was the smoothest latte I've had in town. Italians really have mastered macchiatos, espressos, and coffees of all assortments. I love that while hipster Epoch is unique that they also respect the craft of the Italians and make it their own. Well, how do you like your Epochs? The original 24/7 North Loop one is still our own Seattle grunge, the Anderson one is appropriately chic, and this brand new one on Far West is simply hip & cool. Friendly baristas and super fast wifi. Neato. The bad news is they close at 7pm, but it's hard to get mad at that, because that's pretty much when this neighborhood seems to shut down (okay, I'm usually in this area only for that HEB & library). They're talking about expanding their hours, but we'll see. There's also less food here than the other two Epochs, but in a nice way, so what? If we want to eat, let's go to a restaurant. Still a solid black pour for $2.50, their "Mojo" concoction has its own proselytes, and I really need to pay more attention to the latest chai & latte stuff. Big bright communal tables, with a whole bunch of two-tops in the dark two-top room. Was this place a former gas station? Garage? But now the newest & coolest Epoch in Austin's coffee world? I have been here 30 plus times over the past few years. The one star is for the staff attitude. Coffee is decent.

My wife loved the iced coffee drink she ordered and i loved the large cappuccino that barely made it out of the old JiffyLube building repurposed as a barista hangout, I gnoshed my way through a great turnover type pastry filled with cream cheese and cinnamon. I love Epoch and have frequented the North Loop location for years! Great service, friendly baristas, delicious coffee and perfectly made cappuccinos! The beautiful fern pattern on my coconut milk cap amazed me. Not easy with coco milk. The space is much larger than I thought with tables of varying proportions and a small quiet area of mostly 2-tops at the west end featuring fun art on the walls. There is a downstairs space for staff and storage. I was told they may have coffee samplings for the 'hood downstairs in the future. Yes, please. We purchased a bag of the San Francisco delicious Cabin Fever because it rocked our world. If you source directly from farmers and roast locally you get an amazing flavor. Do try this coffee. Great addition to the neighborhood! I love how a Epoch has given life to what use to be an automotive repair shop. Classic Austin move in a quickly changing city. There's a good amount of table space here which is what I look for when I go to a coffee shop. Two big community tables for those who like to spread out and a bunch of smaller tables that are in a side room. The glass windows offer lots of natural light and at night it's well lit. No password for the internet and I haven't had any issues while I'm sitting here typing my review. What to be weary of is the outlets, there doesn't seem to be many and they're located in awkward spots. I think it would be cool to see some outlets that hang from the ceiling above the community tables. I can see myself coming back here to work and read. Can't beat a nice space and nice employees who you can joke around with :) Got a pot of tea here, I'll do the coffee next time! read more

Terrible service. I waited for ten minutes at an empty register. I finally called the store to see if they were open and was greeted by a pissed off barista who insulted me before angrily taking the people who were waiting in front of me's order. Avoid this business, their terrible service and their overpriced and mediocre coffee will leave you frustrated and disappointed. There are better local coffee spots that have wonderful employees who treat people with some basic courtesy, which is apparently a struggle for the baristas at Epoch. I will never go here again and will suggest the same to people I know in the area. read more

I've been a regular (as in almost every day) customer for several years at this location. At a very cool location, they can get very busy, but professionally keep the line moving. got the cold brew 1/2 mojo and it was super good! they offer 16 and 20 oz sizes which is nice as some of the smaller coffee shops don't offer size options. they offer a cold brew mojo which i guess is a little sweeter than the 1/2 but i thought the 1/2 was the perfect amount of sweetness. the inside was so cute and had a bunch of plants and local art for sale. they also offer a reusable cup program which i didn't ask for additional info but good to know they offer a sustainable option! read more

Epoch (on Far West) has become one of my favorite coffee shops in Austin. Lucky for me, it's walking distance from my apartment! It's really hard to find a coffee shop that consistently has great (drip) coffee. If that doesn't sell it to you, it also has a decent sized parking lot, and its very roomy on the inside. The vibe that it gives off is unlike any coffee shop that I've been too (in Austin). While it's a really clean place with a lot of natural light, it also has some grunge to it. It's hard to find a coffee shop (with tasty coffee) in Austin that isn't completely pretentious, but I feel like Epoch is a good happy medium. They have outdoor seating, but it's always to sunny to sit out there. I'm hoping that one day they will put up a tarp, so I don't have to go to Starbucks when it's too crowded! Five times I've had a regular latte, the other two times I've had a dirty chai. Sometimes my coffee is really great, other times it is "eh." It just depends on the barista that pulls the shot and/or steaks the milk (depending on if I get iced or hot). I have an embarrassing confession. I was pronouncing the name of this adorable and helpful coffee shop on Far West Boulevard the same way you say, Epic. It finally took me raving about this spot to a friend for them to ask, 'Do you me mean, Eee-Poch?' Yep, it's pronounced with a long E sound and not at all like Epic. Nevertheless, it's great. And I need to work on my listening skills. After the first visit, I was a little bummed to be greeted with no available seats nor outlets. The second visit was better. The updated open and airy spot with had more outlets. Some even hanging from the exposed, load-bearing, industrial beams that form the spaces ceiling. Plus, they added on an outdoor seating area that's even covered for those super hot and sunny days. The staff is informative and friendly and the coffee is delicious. They don't have a huge variety of coffee shop eats or pastries, but what they lack in quantity, they make up for in quality. I'm lucky it's on my way back from my little guy's school. I've been a long time patron of this coffee shop. Always order the same drink: 2 shots of espresso I add a splash of half and half to. (My drink of choice for the last 2" years. Today was told they were going to start charging me for the two tablespoons of half & half I add to my espresso. I know opening a second location is expensive but don't take it out on long time patrons and accuse them of 'making a latte' for the price of espresso is unprofessional. I was super excited when I found out Epoch had a location less than 5 minutes from my apartment but when I spent some time here, I think I'l still be driving to the other locations. There's nothing to rave about here, it's a pretty typical coffee shop, typical coffee and typical pastries. I was really disappointed in their lack of outlets, and their hours. They are open from 7 AM to 7 PM, and if you're a typical Austinite who works 8 AM to 5 PM, and then gets stuck in Mopac traffic on the way home, there's no way you can pay this place a visit during the week. You would think they would want to stay open a bit later for more business right? I didn't have a horrible experience here. I came in super early on a Sunday to attempt to get some work done, and I snagged a table next to an outlet. I ordered a breakfast taco and a coffee and started working. I think I killed like 10 mosquitos/ fruit flies before I decided to leave. I'm not even grossed out by bugs, its just really annoying when they're buzzing around. First off, the baristas at this location are better than any others at the other location. They're super friendly and welcoming. This location used to be a Jiffy Lube so there are floor to ceiling windows that bring in beautiful, natural light. Cons: The hours are awful. A ton of students live in this area so for this place to close at 7pm, doesn't make sense to me. It makes me question what the point of this space is for. I'd love for it to be at least a 10pm closing. Tables are wobbly and minimal. It's not really an efficient work space unless you sit at the giant community table (which doesn't have plugs). Doesn't really have that fun, chill, humble Epoch flow the others have. Also, 17 parking spaces? Seriously. Pretty meh. Time will tell if it gets better. read more

The atmosphere for this particular neighborhood is wrecked by questionable music played too loud. I couldn't converse with my teenage son, which was the reason I ventured in. There's also no way I could focus on any work or reading, though the large tables seem to invite as much. Finally, I personally don't like being aggressively hailed when I come in. I'm not much of a bro. A head nod or plain "hello" is good. That said, the product is good and the build-out of the new place is nice. I have no idea why anyone likes this Coffee Shop. Staff is rude and not friendly at all. Food is horrific. None of it is made onsite AND they keep their sandwiches for a week in a fridge.
