It felt like buying a used car, with a high-pressure negotiation designed to make me feel like I was getting a deal, when in reality I was being ripped off. If I hadn't shown my shock, I likely would have paid the full $850. The work itself was fine, and the technician was polite, but the price was outrageous. The national average for this job is $375-$450, and even in Massachusetts, the high end is about $575. I paid $700. I later learned that Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks is owned by Sila Services, backed by Goldman Sachs. This corporate structure adds overhead and drives up prices for customers. I thought I was hiring a local company, but I was wrong -- this is part of a multi-owner corporate platform. After reading other Yelp reviews, it's clear my experience was not unique. I wish I had read them first. If you want reasonably priced plumbing, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a genuinely local company.

Talk about feeling stupid! Here is the long story... 2 winter ago, we had a house full of guests staying for the winter holidays. Our demand for the hot water shot up significantly. On one of the trips down to the basement to bring up more supply, I noticed that there was a small pool of water by one of the 2 water heaters on the floor. We called these guys in since they have been "our plumbers" for several years and came highly recommended by our neighbors. And 1 week and $1500 later we got ourselves a new water heater. Yay! Although, I never noticed any more water on the basement floor and asked so when the crew came to install the new one. They told me some crazy "the metal contracts when water is cooled (we had turned off this heater by this time), that's why there is no water leaking". It didn't sound right at the time since Logically the hole should have gotten bigger if metal contacts. We just wanted the problem solved so we went ahead with it. We recently had the house energy audit by Mass Save. The auditor told us that the new, not the old, water heater didn't pass the backdraft test and is leaking CO Back into house. And since the other heater next to it is functioning fine. He doesn't think it's a chimney issue. Add salt to the wound is that after I researched on the Internet, I now realized the small pool of water on the floor was a normal phenomenon for the heater to relieve additional pressure under high demand. You bet we are not calling them back ever. I am now debating if I should complain to BBB and the company owner directly.

So we consulted with Gordon and after careful plaopted to have My Dear Watson do out a full gut remodel of our main bathroom including a tub to walk in shower conversion, with all new plumbing, electrical, framing and window new drywall, fixtures, grab bars, painting and mill work replacement, on time, on budget. The result was excellent and therefore we felt very confident about proceeding with a long planned major home remodel with Gordon and his team. This included strategies for living in our home during the remodel. Gordon provided extensive pre renovation consultations and advanced computer design services, and help with time line and budget planning, careful contract review, and facilitated meetings with custom cabinet and countertop stone subcontractors. Gordon and his team then completed a very large, total full gut remodel creating open plan custom cabinet kitchen, dining, living room, with all new electrical, plumbing and new appliance instillation to those rooms. It also included flooring and complete wall, ceiling and trim painting, new mill work throughout home, partial fixture replacement in 2 half baths and 5 new windows with interior and exterior trim replaced, as well as new fire and CO2 alarm instillation. They also stepped in to provide time sensitive and reasonably priced emergency repairs to other areas of the home requiring urgent repair and restoration, during the remodel, which were not part of the original scope of the project. My Dear Watson has a great very friendly team who were Highly knowledgeable, respectful of our home, very kind and totally supportive during a large complex project.The project stayed on budget, adhered to the contract , although there were some unavoidable delays due to late custom cabinet arrival, but the team worked on other areas during that period. All inspections passed promptly. Communication was excellent from Gordon and all members of the team. Gordon and his team have now done 3 significant projects for us between 2025-2026, and we have been extremely pleased. Our friends and family have expressed amazement at how wonderful everything looks, and we have found the new design beautiful and so much easier to live with. However…read moreexpect to be overcharged at every opportunity and then get a new invoice without any conversations about the upcharges. These are not small upcharges a 2 x 3 cement pad may cost you over 700 after he does the work. He quoted us a split system for part of the house for 6000 and then when he went to install it was over 7000 and then tried to tell the part went up. This was before the tariffs. However, the worst part is for about 2 years he done everything not to finish the job of the new boiler after we paid him full. We had heat in the upstairs before he started for over 20 years. We have never had heat except the split now and the boiler basically just provides hot water. He never connected or test the thermostat for the upstairs zone. We have given up on his excuses and now need to bring in another contractor to finish the job.
