My review is based on the fact that this is diner food. That said, we had a very generous and tasty breakfast and the service was fast and friendly. We were seated immediately and offered coffee soon after being seated. The waitress gave us time to look at the menu, took our order and we were eating shortly thereafter. It appeared they were well staffed in this new location. We definitely plan on returning. Helpful to know: They have a separate price if you pay cash vs using a credit card and it's clearly included on the bill. read more

I have a Service Medical animal. I was staying at a hotel next door. I called ahead explained the situation and told her she is a medical.service animal and we would need a booth. I was told if we came over tight away they could accommodate us. We went over and were told it would be 10 to 15 minutes. After a 25 minute wait a waiter came out and announced to the entire lobby not even me directly that we WOULD NOT BE SEATED the OWNER WOULD NOT ALLOW IT. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT support this Restaurant in any way shop or form. This was handled SO BADLY I travel with her 4 months a year and we have NEVER been treat SO DISRESPECTFULLY or BADLY in my LIFE. After reading a bunch of reviews of breakfast places, I decided on St. Ignace Truck Stop. I was told to sit in a booth at the back and then was ignored for quite a while. Eventually, someone slid a menu to me across the table. I got the distinct impression that she was doing it for someone else. I waited a while again for someone to take my order. My food came, and it was ok, but nobody came to check on me or ask if I wanted anything. In fact, nobody came by at all. I did overhear some other customers wanting to order and the person they talked to seemed bothered and said that she was just the hostess but, with an exasperated tone, asked them what they wanted. I was ready to leave, but my bill hadn't come. I went to the restroom and the bill still wasn't there, so I went up to the register & told them what I had. Based on this experience, I wouldn't go back; while the food was ok, I really felt like I was a bother to them, which is NOT how customers should be treated. read more

Meh - we may be tourists, but we are offering business. The food was so-so and priced high for the offerings. French toast, fish sandwich, and eggs came to $76 and there wasn't anything outstanding about the food, service, or atmosphere. We didn't feel particularly welcome and we probably wouldn't be back. I'd check somewhere else to eat - McD's is right across the road and better food and service which is saying something. read more

Ordered the breakfast pastie (saus. The sausage gravy was perfect. Flavorful and not salty. My wife got the eggs, sausage, hash brown. Perfect too. Not a "fancy" joint, just good food and service. We visited Mackinaw City not realizing it was still the off season, and finding this restaurant was our salvation. The food was incredible, prices were perfect, and staff was very friendly. We stopped in for a late lunch / early dinner after spending the day at the falls. It happened to be first place we saw open. Man were we lucky, We were greeted warmly upon entering and menus and water appeared quickly. Our server was Samantha (awesome lady I might add) how advised us the fresh whitefish was very good. It was not just good, it was fantastic. Grilled to perfection. I had the perch and it was also the best I have had in a long time. A side of cheese curds and when we finished, we were stuffed. Detroiter in search of perfect hashbrowns... Perfectly crispy and golden brown, with a little more crisp on the edges, YUM. Here's the kicker, how did they do that without all the grease?! I mean my plate was dry...not a swimming pool of fake butter. I had the Zoey's. It's hard to mess up sausage patties, but I think it's the best one I've ever had (probably totally bad for you ;D). First thing in the morning, you want to see smiling faces. The service was impeccable!!! The place was packed at 7:30 in the morning, but there was always a table available for the fam walking in. Decor was UP kitch and the bathroom was super duper clean....which means the kitchen is too!! The place we thought we were going to boondock had signs up "no overnight" (rest area, hmm, go figure), stumbled upon this place and saw semis in the very back. We put the slide out and went to bed, happy knowing that not only are we going to get good sleep, but we'll have a good breakfast in the morning!! Back on the road by 8:00 am! The line was out of the door and people hovered over one another to warm up from the chilly weather. I waited in the car. My omelette was pretty good, not big really, but good. I like how I was able to order either toast, English muffins, or pancakes. I ordered the western omelette with English muffins and corned beef hash. Sign on the door says masks required and please be patient. I totally understand that with COVID restrictions indoor dining is limited; I'm patient. There was a line when we arrived on a weekday at lunch time. I walked in to put our name on the list and even though there was someone at the cash register, they did not acknowledge me standing there. I did eventually notice a pen and piece of paper with a few names on it. I guessed this is where we should write our name and party number. How freaking hard is it to have a sign or even instructions on the paper? How am I to know what the paper is for? For all I know, someone wrote down their class list or a a list of family coming to Thanksgiving. Why couldn't the person at the register say "hi" and at least point to the paper and pen? We waited about 40 minutes to sit, again, I understand the wait as half their tables are not in use. Our party of three was called in and we were seated the counter. The server, Roxie (I think this was her name?) was super nice. But dang. NOT A SINGLE PERSON IN THE KITCHEN WAS WEARING A MASK! NO ONE! Both servers wore their masks around their chins. What. The. Hell. None of the staff asked any of the patrons to wear masks either. We were so freaking hungry by this time we decided to stay as my kiddo needs to eat at certain times and also the two previous restaurants we had stopped at in the area were closed. We stayed huddled together and wore our masks until our food arrived. I had hand sanitizer in my handbag and we used it liberally. Given the staff were so careless with public health, I was not confident in their cleaning and sanitization between customers. My mom had a Reuben, I had a pastie, and my kiddo had pancakes and sausage. He didn't eat all the sausage which is really unusual for him. Our food took so long to make and then it sat in the window forever (I could see it) and the cook in the back yelled out the servers name so many dang times. By the time it arrived it was not piping hot. But it was decent enough. Instant mashed potatoes, jarred gravy. I have my doubts about the claim of "homemade pasties", as they seemed more "home-heated" than home made, but they were really good I've eaten (I consider myself a pasty aficionado). My mom thought her Reuben was really good. If it weren't for the lack of consideration for public health, I would have given at least 3 stars. I like the diner atmosphere. Server was very friendly. Decent food for an area with very limited amount of choices. For my fellow Metro Detroiters especially who travel to the UP. The breakfast options are very limited but this spot is definitely one of the few to check out. The food is average in comparison to like a commercial Coney Island. Traditional American diner with some amazing customer service experience I had in two different occasions. The omelettes are great, but hash browns were very greasy and not as crunchy for my taste. Some might question the cleanliness of the place, but it wouldn't be a traditional UP Diner if it didn't look a little run-down.
