Actually, one of my favorite places we visited on our OB Brewery crawl. The location is kind of something you need to see for yourself. Lots of blue light and colors that stand out from a black background, but a really easy place to hang out. Some games to play as well. The staff was really cool and knew a lot about the beers. I went with the Maple Smoked Maibock ($8.75) and wow, they were not kidding! I got a really nice combo of smoke with candied bacon. I really liked it, and it did not drink like a 7%. I got a taster of the Pickle beer ($2.50), had to, and I liked it too. It should not work but wow it's really easy to drink at 4.3%. For a cool brewery with really different types of beers (and regular ones too), this is the place! read more

They had tones of free ones that were not crowded and most of which I had never seen. The lighting is also fun and unique as well. It is similar to an arcade style without being too jarring. The beer itself was good as well. I got a hazy and it was nice and refreshing on the hot day we got there on. There was some nice outdoor seating that, even with a nice sunset, wasnt too crowded. I had seen this place either on TikTok or instagram and it immediately caught my attention. A cool ambiance, games, AND beer? Girllll, count me in. This is the coolest brewery i've ever been to. I recommend going at night because the black lights are so fun. They have 3D glasses you can use to walk around and look at the art work. The deck is very cool too. There are so free games to play while you are there as well as a variety of drinks. They do flights and have options like pickle beer if you want to get adventurous! Absolutely, Positively the BEST brewery in the Ocean Beach area. First and foremost the variety of beer is so good that you've got to try as many as you can. I had a flight to start and all of the 5 beers I tried were excellent. I favor dark beers so I went full pour on my absolute favorite, Chocolate Macadamia Stout. The OB Bubble Dubble a dark Belgian Ale was right up there as well. As you take your time drinking your favorite, enjoy the VERY COOL vibe. The blacklight along with posters and artifacts bring out the atmosphere of one FUN place. They've got a lot of games to play as well. On our trip to San Diego, (we stayed near Ocean Beach) we started here as our first stop and then 5 days later we made it our last stop. Just had to have one more of that Chocolate Macadamia Stout. Christie our bartender the first time was just so nice and accommodating in answering all my questions and letting me taste samples. She was just pleasant as pleasant can be. Have been a regular since Kilowatt opened a decade ago. Ironically the founder's name is Stone! They have a wide selection of beers with something for everyone. Slushies are on tap for non beer drinkers. I'm not a fan of kids hanging out at breweries but if that's your thing they have tons of games. I drank one too many pickle beers the other night and left my hat behind. Returned the next day and they had saved it for me. Thanks Kilowatt! read more

Great games and a great location! The beers were a bit pricier than we are used to, but seemed comparable to other breweries in the area. It is close to the beach and a lot of other restaurants. They use glasses for the beer, which is practically a requirement for good beer in my book. Service was very friendly, and the tables were pretty clean. The restrooms were a bit dirty, but they also had hand sanitizer outside the bathroom which I appreciated. We found parking pretty close and were able to walk to the beach. read more

A psychadelic neon fest of beer! Kilowatt Brewing is a super cool spot with lots of games, lights, and of course beer. You can't miss the lights from the street as both the outside and inside are extremely colorful. I love how many different games they have too. They have fun group games like a maze and balance game. Plus they have board/card games in the back too that you can use. And next to the games, they have 3-D glasses you can wear to see the bar in a whole other way. We went before dinner on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. I got a flight of beer and I'd say that the ones I got weren't too memorable. I'm not sure what the maximum number is but the bartender said that you can have a flight in any 4/5 (maybe more?). But overall I think Kilowatt is a great place to hang out with friends since there's so much to do and see! read more

What a place! Not only are they a brewery but they are a place where your imagination and sense of competition can go wild! They have lots of games to play, 3D glasses and infinity mirrors! Not to mention the art! Neither my wife nor I drink beer which was no problem at this neon gem! They had 3-4 seltzer or malt liquor based drinks some of which were brightly colored alcoholic slushies! We sipped on the watermelon seltzer and took in the sights of all the cute dogs coming and going on a Sunday afternoon. It was truly a perfect random stop. Recently came in to a hat painting event with the fabulous Azul. This was my first visit to this location and definitely not my last! I love the decor and the lighting (black light). The place was clean and everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. They explained the beers and assisted me in my selection, 250kWh IPA. I also tried their slushies which I must say were perfect! Not too sweet. The hat painting event itself was so much fun!!!! We were able to get super comfy at this location, after having a hearty meal at a restaurant down the street. We'd actually planned on sitting outside with our beers, but all the barrels under shade were taken and neither of us wanted to risk burning my husband's dome, so we found a table inside to settle in at (bonus in that they let the pup in there with us.) They were super busy that day - lots of large parties and groups with kids - but the one guy working the bar was attentive and friendly. They also had a solo performer to entertain the masses, who served up late 70's and 80's covers from his corner near the merchandise. I started my night with a pour of the Chocolate Macadamia Stout (super rich, super nutty, super chocolatey); followed up with the Pineapple Coconut Blonde (the coconut hits you straight away, the pineapple kind of limps along afterwards); and finished the day with the Strawberry Blonde (the strawberry flavor didn't come through immediately, but once it hit, it was like strawberry jam.) I have to give Kilowatt props on their flavor game. Usually, when a brewer claims one of their concoctions has a certain flavor, I nod my head and smile, knowing it will never taste the way they think it's supposed to taste. But with Kilowatt, if they tell you it's coconut, or strawberry, or macadamia or chocolate, you better believe it is. I'm eagerly awaiting fall, in the hopes that they brew up a pumpkin stout. Because y'all know I haven't yet found a pumpkin ale that got the flavors right. This is one of my husband's new favorite breweries, as well. He fell in love with their Sour Peach Cobbler - so much so that he drank it almost exclusively that day. Totally impressed with this bar! Very beautiful and fun interior with great drinks. I got the peach slushie which was sweet and very boozy. Maple smoked maibock was really good too highly recommend. This place is very family and dog friendly. There is indoor seating and outdoor patio seating. Parking was on the Main Street downtown. Kilowatt Brewing is a vibe! I came here with one of my good friends after we bought food at the Ocean Beach Farmer's Market, so we could sit down, eat, catch up, and have a drink of course. I really enjoyed my Orange Mango Hard Seltzer Slush on the recommendation of the lovely lady working the counter. The inside is glow-in-the-dark neon with ample opportunities for a photo shoot (of your drink or of yourself if you have on neon or reflective clothing) so of course, I couldn't help myself.
