I have given this coffee spot several chances now. I have experienced a good latte here before, but recently every cup I get is more of a disappointment. Last time the latte I ordered tasted like straight up warm milk with artificial flavors in it. This time it still has too much milk and they forgot to add the whipped cream I paid extra for. Lattes are mostly milk but for this expensive of a coffee I should be able to taste the coffee at least a little bit. However, I will continue to go because it's the closest one. read more

I visit Equator on a pretty regular basis and I have to say, this place is great, it's one of my favorite spots for coffee. The place itself has a very interesting aesthetic, as it's a converted shipping container with outdoor seating featuring salvaged wood tables and succulents. Staff here are very social/approachable and will answer any questions you may have about your drink. Pricing is a notch higher than something like a Starbucks or Peet's, which is pretty typical for third wave coffee shops. In terms of drinks, it doesn't seem like you can really go wrong here. The mocha (imo) is the perfect balance between sweet and bitter. The matcha latte is very refreshing and calming, and the cold brew is a great option for a hot day or as a more gentle alternative to espresso shots. You can also get cashew milk or the much sought after Oatly oat milk as alternatives to dairy. read more

A really good location in the Oakland uptown area. The seating arrangement is nice and all but just wish there were tables for one on one interactions or so. But to tell about their drinks I tried their Housemade Vanilla Latte and the ratio was on point! Not too sweet with the vanilla but also not so faint of taste with it. The coffee is great, the setup is cute, the people are friendly...but be warned, if you buy a cup of coffee from here, bring your own cup because Equator's disposable cups will leak all over your hand. In my experience, the cups can't even handle being 75% full, so definitely avoid them, if you can. Go for the specialty drinks, if you can afford it. The coffee is worth it. read more

Found this little spot thanks to Yelp. I wanted to see what was open around me on Sunday that would also be close to lake Merritt. I ordered the Cherry Limeade seltzer (or was it spritzer?) and my boyfriend got the Butterfly pea something. I'm a 29 year old woman who kept laughing at saying butterfly pea so yeah. Cherry limeade was so refreshing. It was perfect for a stroll in the sun and around Lake Merritt. The perfect way to describe it is imagine having jumper cables clamped to your tongue and getting a small little jolt of electricity to liven them up. That's what it felt like with each sip I took. The butterfly pea drink was soft and delicate like someone wrapping you up in a blanket burrito and each sip was a nice little forehead kiss. What was also cool was when they made it right before they give you the drink they plop in the blue stuff (I'm assuming that's the butterfly pea they had to harvest) which made the drink very pretty. Equator is convenient for me and they are open earlier than many coffee places. They're pour over and chai are delicious. The batch brew has a bitter/burnt quality - to my palate. I wish they had a better fit between the "to go" cups and lids. I inevitably end up with coffee on my hands. read more

UMM. I have never craved coffee the way I crave the vanilla oat milk latte here. wowwwzz :-) it is delicious! Love coming here on early mornings to start my day right. I like the chia pudding too- however the oatmeal has a tangy taste that I am not too fond of. We also tried the ham & cheese quiche and it was SO yummy! Always a pleasant experience when I come get coffee here! The employees are always so nice and friendly and the coffee is amazing! I always ask for a vanilla latte with a little extra vanilla and they make it perfectly!! Plus the guy who always takes my order is really cute :-)! Wow! So happy that an equator popped up in my neighborhood. I love visiting the marin locations when I'm out for motorcycle ride exploring the coast. Now I can have my "treat" coffee daily. This cafe is an urban oasis made from shipping containers. It's a charming place to sit, have a coffee, and build up the strength to go shopping at wholefoods. The staff is friendly (like all at Equators) and they have giant doughnuts on the weekends. My new favorite local hang out! read more

My favorite coffee spot in the area. I'm so sad to see that they are temporarily closed (starting Feb 8th, for 1-2 weeks), but very happy they are taking covid exposure seriously. There is typically a bit of a wait if you do not order ahead, but the staff is always working hard and very thankful for everyone's patience. I like this spot, it's my first choice for coffee on the weekends now. I've tried a number of items here including all of their oat/cashew milks and everything has been great. I love the location and the cute bench area with small succulents growing in the middle. The baristas are always nice and often have great recommendations. Some specialty shops dole out sour tasting coffee due to the constant need to recalibrate the espresso machine...I appreciate that this equator location keeps the espresso tasting balanced and that the beans are organic. read more

I went in this morning to get a coffee and some breakfast. I ordered a matcha/chai latte (which I have ordered other places) and the girl at the register had no idea what I was talking about. That was all fine until my drink comes up and the barista asks me if "I've ever ordered this before anywhere else?..." in the rudest most condescending way, then proceeds to say because it's just "a really weird combo" in the same snooty voice. I have heard great things about this place, unfortunately, my first experience was terrible. I don't need to be talked down to that early in the morning just because you don't know how to make the drink or havent heard of it. ps. the drink was terrible too. read more

Wow!!!! I stopped by the Grand Opening of this little gem yesterday and was completely blown away by how cool it is. Grabbed myself a hot chocolate made from the most delicious cashew nut milk and had to have another only larger before I left. It's a great hangout place to do a little work or just meet friends. Urban Remedy is their neighbor with fresh organic everything and couldn't be a better marriage. They're in decked out old shipping containers. Who would have thought????? The coffee is okay, not great. It's Overpriced, customer service was mediocre, and it always smells like urine from the bums always hanging in front of it. I know because I walk by everyday.
