My husband and I filed a claim about two months ago. Our apartment was broken into. We were told they mailed the check and we should get it between 7-10 days. After not receiving it we decided to give them a call. The lady said they sent it, but they didn't have our apartment number on file... which was a lie because our police report we sent had the apartment number and we received a renewal letter from them in the mail. The person we spoke to said she will send it Monday and again we should get it in 7-10 days. Long story short we still haven't received the check and it is impossible to get ahold of anyone in customer service. We have been calling and leaving voice mails and no one is returning our calls. We are starting to believe this company is a scam!!! Customer service doesn't exist. Every time we call we have to leave voice mail. We are giving this company a couple more days and then going to every news station there is to make sure they never scam another person again!!!! And we will be filing a law suit against you! Update. My roof was leaking and damage one of my electronic device. I try to claim the insurance but because the value was less than $1000, this company refused to give me the claim. I had previously received mixed and confusing messages on required documentation to process a refund which waisted a couple hours of my time in emails, calls, and communication with our previous apartment office. Terrible. Cancelled my insurance after they had the wrong location insured for a year. After the first two cancellations-had to do multiple cancellations for whatever reason, they charged my card. They said within three to five days I would receive a refund for the years worth of insurance on the wrong property+the random charge after I cancelled. Eighteen days later I finally received my refund in thirteen credits to my account. They said they couldn't put it in at once since that's not how it was drawn out.....fair enough I thought. Three weeks later, I awoke to an email saying they had debited my installment payment, in the amount of $400...my monthly premium was only $25.72? Installment for what and what time period? The amount was completely foreign. They couldn't explain why I was charged or what the amount was related to. "It was a system error".....every time I have called them starting March 24th-May 1st, to talking at least 50 times, I am told it's a system error. Really...:-/ The debit didn't match any total given from them, and was taken out a full month after I had processed at least five cancellations with them. I am still waiting on my $400 back. It has been five days and I am still out $400. Go with another company. These guys are nice but as far as running a business, this is not their game. If you need insurance get it through someone reputable with a better track record. These guys will end up costing you more money than it's worth. read more

I seldom write reviews, and of those that I write, I rarely complain. But in the case of eRenterPlan, I feel obliged. Like many others, I was recommended to purchase insurance from eRenterPlan from my apartment complex when I signed the lease for my apartment. I lived in Costa Mesa for 4 months (August-December) and came back to the UK. I noticed I was still getting billed for the insurance. I figured that even though I changed the lease, they might have forgotten about the insurance. I emailed them around 3 times, both using their email address and through the form on their site. I got no response. I called them as well, but there was a long waiting period. In the end, I went to my bank and got the payments cancelled on my end. I would recommend the same to you, if after having tried to contact them, they didn't reply (which is likely). Terrible customer service, and as other people say, probably a borderline scam. I have had a terrible experience with this company and their poor customer service. I needed to extend my policy for 2 weeks as the lease went past the policy expiration. What should have been simple was anything but that. Spoke to their customer service, but the man ended up accidentally cancelling my current policy 2 months early. He apologized and said he fixed the issue. He let me know I would see the accidental charge on my the credit card I gave him, but then would see a refund. Days later I still didn't see it. So I called customer service again, was told there was a note to refund me and it takes up to 5 days. So I waited a few more days. After 11 days, still no indication of the refund. Called again today, I was told I have already been refunded. I explained I wasn't seeing it on my credit card statement and I asked to speak to a supervisor because I needed some kind of proof. I was put on hold for 15 min only to have the girl tell me SHE spoke to the supervisor and said again it's been refunded. Wow! thanks for letting me speak to a supervisor! After ALL this, I figured out they refunded a different credit card! Not sure why they would refund a card they didn't make the accidental charge on. I really think this company should train their employees better on how to handle transactions and for their supervisors to not hide behind them. I realize speaking to customers who aren't so thrilled with the service isn't exactly fun, but it seems incredibly unprofessional to not take the role that you were given. read more

Erenterplan kept taking money from my bank account subsequent to me moving out of my apartment. I tried over and over again to call them to cancel, but no one ever answered the phone. They don't give any other options for cancelling your policy. You can't do it online, so you are forced to call their phone number. I found this ironic, since you can start your insurance plan with them online quick an easy. (It makes sense. They want you to easily be able to give them your money, but they want it to be very difficult for you to STOP giving them your money). Anyways, I ran out of options and the only thing that worked for me was filing a dispute with my bank. I asked my bank to prevent erenterplan from withdrawing money, and luckily that worked. I truly believe that their business strategy is to make it so difficult to cancel the policy, that the policyholders give up or forget, and erenterplan can keep taking money from their credit cards every quarter. The only positive thing from this experience was that it gave me an appreciation for companies with good customer service. Erenterplan has none. I'm so thankful that I never had to actually file a claim with them, because I'm sure that would have been an absolute nightmare. I now use a large, well known, well established insurance company for my renters insurance, and I feel so much better. My advice is to avoid this company like the plague. If you are forced to use them through your apartment complex, then I think it's reasonable that you ask your apartment complex employees to help you cancel your policy or get in touch with someone from erenterplan when you can't. Maybe if apartment employees see what a nightmare this company is to work with, they'll stop wanting their tenants to use them. Lastly, if you can't stop them from withdrawing funds from your bank account, contact your bank to stop it! read more

I want to say thank you to the customer service team at erenterplan.com. I moved from TEXAS to Florida and I was able to transfer my policy with no problems. I have been an erenterplan.com customer for 2 1/2 years now and love the fact that I have been able to change my plan to fit my current needs. I have been able to adjust my coverage and deductible with no problems. I have furr babies and like having the pet insurance option incase there are any damages to my home. Why do they choose to make this so difficult. All I want is for my credit card to be charged on a monthly basis for my renters insurance but keep having technical issues. The website never remembers my payment information and due to those issues my payments aren't processing and my apartment complex is saying I am no longer insured. Their website was down last week, they call center is always flooded (I have to wait 25 for a call the ended up getting disconnected!). Absolutely awful customer service. When I first got the renter's insurance policy, I wasn't 18, so it was linked up though my dad's email and whatnot. So I finally went to change the email to my own email, and now nothing works, I literally can't login no matter what I do. I called and explained that I tried resetting the password multiple times, and the lady just sent me another email to reset my password. I need to login so I can print out a copy for my new apartment manager, but I now have no way of doing that. Switching immediately, IF I can even get someone to pick up and help me. read more

They transferred me to another company called American national that located in Ohio, an agent named Aaron contact me to fill some documents. After I emailed him the documents in Oct 15 he called a couple of time very early due to time difference, I couldn't answer him. And that's it he never returned my call, email, and message. Customer service...after 45 minutes wait time would only turn on the account by hand after i gave my Card Number over the phone.. (Um NOPE... PCI Compliance..? ) I want to supply my payment electronic where a person cant write it down with pen and ink So I asked for a manger.. Told me there was no one to escalate to (Bull-sh--) i pushed and they finally agreed to talk to their manager. Service rep said manager will call me back when they are available. Never did.. I called 2 days later to re-escalate to manager.. wont transfer... promise to call back 3 days pass by... i call the Sales line... try to escalate there.. spoke to the manager there.. He said he would talk to Support and call back.. no call back. I inform the Irvine Company of my distaste and horrible service, and recommended they re-consider them as a "preferred" vendor Also i am VERY sure they Contact Us Form on their site does not work, OR even worse.. the Receiving end...is ignore my pleas for a call. I have serious doubt in their ability to handle a claim when they time comes, if i cant even get a manager to call me back, over a super simple issue. Yep, this company is a complete scam! Unfortunately, my current apartment community required all renters to carry renters insurance through this shady company. I was not given an option. About a month ago, I called the company to cancel my policy since I am moving to another city. After reading these reviews, I was surprised that my hold time was only three minutes and I was then immediately connected to a nice gentleman named Notwan. He said it would be no problem canceling my policy and I immediately received a confirmation email of my cancellation. I was initially quite thrilled and thought to myself, these Yelp reviews must be all wrong, maybe they changed management or something. However, I just received a bill for renewal of the policy. I went online to check my account and the status sure enough, it indicates "pending cancellation", not actually cancelled. I thought, well, I will create an online account and terminate the policy online, that's not an option on the website. I thought, well, I'll delete my payment method, also not an option on the website. They literally will not allow you to cancel your policy. Please take my advice and the advice of everyone else on here and avoid this company like the plague. I purchased my new renters policy through Geico. I'm going to try to contact my bank and the BBB and let them know about the problems we have all had with this company. First, because it was what was required. by my property, and I just came back to eRenter after a year with my auto insurance carrier. eRenter is a couple of dollars more each month, but they're much easier to work with in terms of billing, claims and account management. read more

I am with Camden Apartments and eRenter was their featured insurance. I have been with them for 4 years and have never had a problem with them at all. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I transferred to a Camden in another state and eRenter had to charge me two months in advance even though I had been with them for almost 4 years. They said it was because it was a new state, I wasn't really happy with that but they did refund my Cali insurance and had my new insurance all setup for the new property. It was one less thing I had to worry about with moving out of state. read more

I called erenter insurance and was quoted a price that was very reasonable and better then the insurance company I was going to use that insures my car. I got more coverage and for less money. It was quick and simple and they sent the verification right to my apartment for me. I was told by my leasing agent that when erenters has been needed they are there for you and take care of you right away. I had state farm and changed my car insurance and had heard terrible things about their recovery on renters and home owners insurance. So when I heard of erenters and their qiuck and fair recovery I was sold. I would recommend erenters to my friends. read more

Run, don't walk away from this company. Premiums aren't the worst, but the customer service is. They are speedy to sign you up, but if you want to cancel/change the policy, they disappear. There are 3 different phone numbers: 888-205-8118, 855-873-6808 and 888-512-4204; all are the same and equally horrible. If you enjoy being on incessant hold and/or receiving no response to emails, then this is the company to choose. (HINT: If you have already been lured into using them, pick the option for "new service" if you need to speak to someone. At least the hold time might only be hours instead of days.) read more
