It appears this bullshit company is still operating so I thought I'd throw in my two cents to warn people- do not, under any circumstances, get insurance through this company. I was a wide eyed 19 year old when I signed up, my apartment complex recommended them and I didn't know any better. Lived at that complex for two years, and before I moved I spent an entire month trying to cancel to let them know I'd be moving. I must have called this company 30 times, no one ever answered. I once sat on hold for an hour and a half. They continued to charge my card, and I continued to be unable to simply speak to someone through phone or email. I ended up having to cancel my card because I didn't know how else to get them to stop charging me. I wrote a letter to the BBB, but it doesn't appear that the overwhelming amount of complaints about these guys have done anything. Stay far, far, far away. read more

I believe that this company is probably an elaborate scam. I have been calling the provided number on their website (1-888-512-4204), in order to cancel our service since 02/26/9, which apparently connects you to an automated service that asks provides you with a total of 25 automated offers for stupid services. After declining all of them the number provides an automated message that states that the number has changed to 1-800-712-6600 which in turn send you to a 411 type service. This brings up a HUGE RED flag with regards to this being a fake company. It is now 03/02/19 and I have yet to be able to cancel this policy. Fortunately, my card on file has already expired and I will not be paying any further bills sent to us as we have already moved out of the apartment complex where this service was required. THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE THAT IS LOOKING FOR RENTERS INSURANCE: DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. I will be notifying my bank to cancel any attempts to charge my account from this company. I called in to eRenterPlan to dispute a charge they made to my credit card. I moved away in August and was still charged for the month of September, despite them sending me a notification of cancellation in the mail. First call: one person very obviously picked up (I was able to hear the background noises and conversations) and promptly hung up. Second call: The CSR put me on hold for what he said would be "2 minutes of silence." I waited for 30 minutes and realized that he literally left the phone on and left -- when I called back in again, the phone system responded that they were closed. The online website yielded worse results, I am unable to log in at all to view my account information. Please do not ever get insurance with them as it will just be a huge headache when you move. read more

I cancelled my eRenter's policy with customer service back in November 2019 and they just sent notice they were drafting automatic payment again. I reminded them it was cancelled and they conveniently said they have no record of cancellation. I pulled up the old email including their response to my cancellation, and forwarded it to them. I also had my bank cancel my card and re-issue me another one with a new number. What crooks eRenter Plan has turned out to be. read more

This is by far the worse company I have ever dealt with. While the monthly fee was reasonable, when it came time to file a claim. I had the worst experience ever. The claims process was terrible. My family loss power because our transformer was hit by lightening. Because there was a part that had to be sent for and took a number of days to get, we needed to get into a hotel right away, besides it was August. We called twice and was told someone would call us. We waited overnight and heard nothing. The next day we called and was told someone should be contacting us. In the meantime we checked into a local hotel less than 2 miles from our home. The Hyatt Place Hotel a nice, reasonably priced hotel. Finally after being in the hotel for two days the agent called us and became very ugly on the phone when we told him we checked into the Hyatt. He said, that's not approved. I was outraged! Because he didn't take into consideration that we paid for this ourselves and had been going on three days since we heard from anyone. So, then he said, someone else would be calling me back to see what hotel I can stay in cause he didn't approve the Hyatt. Mine you....this hotel is less then two miles from our home and is moderately priced. When I asked the Agent to explain the process to me, he couldn't. He really came across very unprofessional. When his office that handles booking hotels called me, the woman said, oh yeah we place people at that hotel and she knew the Hotel Managers first name. When the Agent called back he wanted to know what hotel we had been placed in. I explained we were still at the Hyatt and he actually became noticeably upset. I explained that this hotel had been used by his office in the past. He then only gave approval for us to stay at the hotel two days at a time. The Hotel Manager and I called because I had provided written proof that our power would not be back on for at least a week. The agent finally gave approval for our stay. In the end, we were back home 10 days later. I provided all the documentation to the Agent in late October after going back and forth with him. I waited and waiting and heard nothing. I called and emailed and finally in early March, that's right MARCH, I was able to get my check and the Agent was still asking for more information, but could not explain why he needed it. Once the check cleared the bank, I went on their website and cancelled my policy. I also left my review, which is not showing on their website. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THE WORST! NOW! LET ME TELL YOU THE LATEST! Today, my bank account had a withdrawal from this insurance company for a payment FIVE TIMES the amount of the monthly policy charge. Remember I cancelled my account back in March. So, I called there today and was told that they are having problems with their billing system and that I am not the first that this has happened too. I was also told that my account was never cancelled. But this seems to be an on-going problem from what some of the other reviewers have posted for a number of months. This is AWFUL!!! I canceled my policy on 4/24/17 when I moved out, and have proof - this company is a SCAM, and I just found they have been charging me since 2017 for a policy that doesn't exist. I see this has been an issue for a lot of reviewers. I am having NO luck getting anyone to help me - help chat doesn't work, no response via email, no human on the phone. The charges are being taken straight from my checking account, so I can't even dispute like I can with a credit or debit charge. I will be notifying my bank to REFUSE any other charges and will be seeking refunds for the charges I've paid for nothing, as it is literally just robbery. read more

Awful. On hold for over an hour multiple times and nobody picks up: I always hear that "my expected wait time is over 30 minutes" no matter when I call and no matter how long I wait. They're unreachable by email and their website has been broken for months (can't create account, reset password, or log in). They're now going to charge me for a renewal even though I'm moving, and I have no way to cancel! How do you think you'll ever file a claim through them if you need to? Two months down the road and 15 phone calls later, I am still waiting for the refund check. Every call I have made, "we are experiencing a higher than normal call volume". This company is an absolute scam. I paid $320 upfront for a year of coverage to move into my apartment, due to a mix up on my end I thought I would need a new insurance policy. Turns out my old one worked just fine, so I cancelled my policy with ERenterPlan the very next day. I called after not receiving a refund and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to receive a paper check in the mail. I called back at the 4 week mark, 5 week mark, and 6 week mark and let them know I never received my refund. Every time they told me to wait for it because "mail is slow right now", "the weather is bad so mail is backed up" etc. At the 6 week mark I still haven't received it, so I called and told them I need a stop payment issued on the check that was supposedly sent my way, I need a new check and proof of that check being sent with a picture of the check and the check number so I know they issued it. I got told off by a customer service representative and then hung up on. I called back and got hung up on AGAIN immediately after asking for a stop payment. This company is a complete fraud and will hold onto your money hoping you forget about it. Customer service is awful, every single person I spoke with was rude and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY MONEY. They also said to issue a new check I am responsible for paying a fee. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

This is long, But want to explain what transpired. I am 65 years old. Owned a home for over 30 years but sold it. The entire time we had the house, I NEVER filed a claim. Car insurance with Geico for over 50 years only one claim for a windshield. Never had a wreck even. I moved into an apartment with my friend. We have been friends since 1970s. Her grandchildren call me grandma. We got the policy with erenter because the apartment recommended them. Right after moving in, I got very sick and undergoing chemo - in and out of hospital. A couple of times my friend was spooked because she came home alone at night and door was unlocked. But I had so much going on and it never occurred to me that someone would be coming into our apartment. Our lease expired on May 1st. Because I was looking at going into hospice, we decided not to renew but not move out. I called erenter in early April and the girl told me the policy expired on April 15 not May 1st. So i extended it and paid for it. Explained to her what was going on and she said if we didnt move out on May 1st just call and they could extend it. We noticed that some items were missing out of the apartment. Spent weeks looking for them. They were items that belonged to my parents (both deceased). I was so upset that it didnt even occur to me to file a claim. Until my roommate told me to. I have NEVER filed a claim like this before. Had no idea how to begin and with all the medical stuff going on - it is overwhelming. The girl on the phone told me the policy was extended until May 2019 and I could pay monthly until I found out when I was moving. When I called today, the man on the phone was RUDE AND NASTY - and that doesnt even begin to describe him. I finally just told him to forget it and hung up. All but called me a crook. I hung up and called Geico and got the same policy limits for $100 less. I am beginning to think from his attitude that IF they pay my claim - it will most likely be a miracle. They were still charging me for an apartment I had two years ago. You cannot cancel online and it is difficult to get through to a human to cancel. They charged me $60 last renewal and will only refund $19 unless I show proof of move out as if a CHANGE OF BILLING ADDRESS wasn't enough. read more

FRAUD!! Identity theft!! We moved out of the apartment and cancelled our insurance back in 2010. Surprisingly we saw a charge from eRenter in March 2015!! Digging further we realized that we got charged in March 2014 as well, unnoticed. Tried calling them but they are always on system maintenance and it seems impossible to reach this company. It's just real scary that once they got your information, they may decide to start charging you again, regardless whether you use them as your insurance company or not!!! read more

Signing was easy and price is reasonable. They sent us reminders about a couple of weeks before they're going to charge for our next payment (we did biannually installments). When it was time for me to want to transfer to a new apartment complex, I emailed them asking about transferring. No answer. I had a policy, everything was great but I was moving in October so I called in mid-October to cancel the policy. I went about my business, didn't pay attention to my bank account because I thought they cancelled like I requested and let's be real, I'm a man that doesn't depend on my online banking. So I finally get on my bank account OVER a year later and there has been a year of charges. So I asked my cousin who does risk management and financials for the family company, she said, call them have the listen to the recorded message of my canceling and they should be able to give me my money back. Fast forward to 3 hours later, I fought with Lee (Leigh) and her supervisor and they told me I SIGNED a new contract in October which was a lie. I cancelled in October. They said they didn't have the recording, so I requested the signed renewal of the "supposed" contract or the recording of my verbal confirmation, They couldn't give me ANY evidence that I renewed. I told them, i just want to be reimbursed and for it not to happen again, Lee and her supervisor said, we can't and won't reimburse you. SO here's what I can tell you, NO MATTER WHAT do not use this company. I'm warning you, it will bring you nothing but a whole in your pocket. My apartment complex recommended me to get insurance from this company. I should have read reviews... I purchased one yr plan but realized that I could get way better rate from other companies. I wanted to cancel and get a refund. But surprise! the only way to cancel is by calling them. After several attempts, I finally was able to get someone on the phone. I was told the policy was cancelled and I'll get the full refund cause I cancelled the plan right after purchasing. However, still no refund provided. My husband and I filed a claim about two months ago. Our apartment was broken into. We were told they mailed the check and we should get it between 7-10 days. After not receiving it we decided to give them a call. The lady said they sent it, but they didn't have our apartment number on file... which was a lie because our police report we sent had the apartment number and we received a renewal letter from them in the mail. The person we spoke to said she will send it Monday and again we should get it in 7-10 days. Long story short we still haven't received the check and it is impossible to get ahold of anyone in customer service. We have been calling and leaving voice mails and no one is returning our calls. We are starting to believe this company is a scam!!! Customer service doesn't exist. Every time we call we have to leave voice mail. This is the first time I've purchased renters insurance, and although my car insurance company came in cheaper, they weren't the fastest. eRenter got me covered same day over the phone. This company is very reasonable when it comes to price, The rep was super nice and explained all of details, including cost, deductibles, and we even discussed the "what if" factors. I had the policy in my email within minutes of hanging up the phone, AND my rep sent a copy of the policy to the property I wanted to rent. The rep also did great at promoting and up-selling the additional products eRenter offered. So tell your friends to check them out. They won't be sorry. read more

This company has a super shady relationship with the Irvine Company. I'm guessing there are a ton of kick-backs going on between the two. I was a policy holder for two years. When my term was getting close to expiring, I received an email saying that I had 30 days to renew or it would get cancelled. Pretty standard right? That very same evening, I got back to my apartment (Irvine Co.) to find a notice on my door from apartment management, saying that "it has come to our attention that you no longer have renter's insurance," and that I was in default of my lease, and to comply immediately or I'll be evicted . So eRenterplan is sending my private policy information to Irvine Company, and using threat of eviction to pressure me into buying another policy from them. I ended up calling the Auto Club, getting the exact same policy PLUS the AAA roadside assistance membership for about 40% less than eRenterplan. read more

I've found it impossible to reach anyone by phone despite sitting on endless holds, and have received no response to web inquiries. Yet they continue to charge my card for insurance at a place I no longer live at. There's only one thing I hate more than this SCAM of a company: FLAT TIRES. For the most part, it is a real scam: they will sell your email to every market on Earth, you will notice spams flooding your inbox as soon as they have your info. Claims: get ready to receive 10% or less of the actual value of your stolen goods, after the deductible and the "devaluation" enter in the game. Cancellations: it is simply not possible to cancel online, there is no set up for this. The only way to do it is after waiting 50 plus minutes on the phone and someone will answer eventually, and will ask you all sort of questions about why you want to cancel your policy. Where can such companies be reported for fraud and poor business, other than here?? They should not even exist as insurance providers. read more
