I have been dying to come here since I am a huge health freak and I love eating clean, raw, & holistic diet. I got a slice of Vegan Mushroom Cauliflower Pizza. It was $8 for this small burnt slice. (Not getting anymore). This iced tea for $4 was pretty good. & healthy. I also got this super yummy nut protein bar with super clean ingredients. Overall: if you need something very clean, healthy or have a specific diet like vegan, vegetarian, keto, paleo, gluten-free, & etc. This place will have amazing options for your diet and needs. I wouldn't eat here every day, but it is a very upscale grocery store. They have a membership that charges $200 a year so you can get a discount and earn points. Which would be worth it if you come here often. Parking: this is in a shopping center of Las Virgenes in Calabasas. Parking here is very easy. Customer service here is pretty good, I will come back for the hot bar. For a half pizza, drink, and protein bar it was $20. Not bad, but not cheap. read more

I don't know what to make of what I just experienced. It's like Trader Joe's hooked up with Whole Foods and their offspring was a hipster. I have never seen so many birkenstocks, yoga pants, and man buns. And that's just the men! This place is pricey, no doubt about it. Getting a salad and sandwich for lunch? Expect to drop about $15-$20 for 2 plastic containers sitting in a fridge. I tried to find a bag of chips or something, but it was all dried chickpeas and paleo this and keto that.... Waaay in the back I found a $4 bag of Kettle chips. All that said, if you are into the latest health food trends and have a trust fund, the food here is fresh, good, and the service (in my experience) is great! I'm chowing down on my turkey wrap right now and once I was able to flush the collateral patchouli out of my nose it is DAMN tasty and filling! If you want to go into instant debt, look no further. $5.32 for 0.355 lbs of egg salad? You're JOKE-ING. I just got finished doing hot yoga with my gal pals and wanted to try out a new grocer. I walked into Erewhon and wish I wouldn't have. The deli counter attendant who helped me was nice (or so I thought.) She portions out literally half a baseball scoop size of egg salad, puts the plastic carrier on to the the scale, and the screen reads $2.69. Then, out of nowhere, the lady changes it to read $5.32. Don't think I didn't see you, lady! I ask her why she suddenly decided to change the number on me and she could not give me a straight answer. Fishy if you ask me. The worst part? The egg salad tastes like something I could have/should have purchased at Ralph's. All in all, this place calls itself a "wellness" store, but I left feeling more sick to my stomach and stressed than ever before. Tucked away in the mountains of Calabasas is a market called Erewhon. This was a nice drive for me considering it was pretty close to where I was staying and the drive was beautiful and scenic! The store was impeccably clean and well organized, the staff was super friendly and very helpful! I found exactly what I was looking for and on my way out I had to try the Hailey Bieber smoothie and an avocado egg tartine! Outside they have a nice set up chairs and umbrellas so I got to enjoy my breakfast while looking at the mountains and beautiful birds! Visiting Erewhon was an experience and I highly recommend everyone to go visit. read more

Rude staff and awful service at the hot bar. Every time I come here I'm always sunk by the staff's poor attitude. If I didn't live in the area I wouldn't go, but it's the closest store. It always seem like the staff are mad at people with money who can afford to spend their weekly pay on a single grocery trip. If it makes the staff feel any better, most of us with money once worked for a lot lower pay than what you are making, is all I can say. And at the hot bar, they load up the combo plates to the max even when you ask them to do less, and if you do they sigh, and sometimes say "we have to fill it." It's a rip off and management is terrible, because if they were on it they would see how staff and customer dynamics are off. There is one stellar staff member, a blonde guy who usually is at the register, that guy is top management material and super friendly. read more

Yes, this place is pricey. But I honestly didn't find it to be something completely unreasonable for the ingredients and freshness they offer. I went here for their raw vegan bar (not vegan but I was intrigued). I got the raw vegan burrito and samosa. It was $5.50 for half a burrito and $5 for the samosa. Both were extremely good! I wanted to try the pizza but couldn't justify the $8 slice. I definitely want to be back for their normal food too. I love that they offer samples! Their sushi looked so good too. I didn't need groceries but I picked up a bag of chiapas Jaguar coffee. Love that they have a grinder in store with different settings. Normal is the best for pour over! They have a breakfast bar too and have great smoothies, tea and coffee. They have high quality pet food and most of the employees are awesome. Talk about highway robbery! This place sucks. Everything is so overpriced, it's not even funny. The same exact thing, literally the same exact product with the same packaging and everything is like double the price here in comparison to Whole Foods or Gelson's. Why would anyone shop here. My sandwich that was like 11 bucks a few months ago is now reaching like 18 bucks. How much higher is it going to go? This one is tough. The store looks great and I love the location on my way home from work. Time and again it has disappointed however. The food is good just like every other Erewhon. And by good I mean great, the food they prepare is delicious but the service at this one is just lackluster. The check out staff rarely makes eye contact, looks annoyed, and barely mumble a hello or good day. The staff walking around in the aisles are almost avoidant to make it more difficult to ask questions. I have been here easily 20 times in the past year and this review is consistent with almost all my visits I find myself avoiding this place and more and more and today was the last straw. I noticed how the sandwiches have changed. The chicken curry sandwich always had heaping portions of chicken curry inside. Looking at each different sandwich today, the meat and ingredients seemed about 50% of usual AND the price had gone up a few dollars. Shrinkflation is getting less for the same amount usually. Put paying a premium for less AND the attitude. Forget it. That being said I believe it's just this location. The other ones are great and at least you get the service you pay the premium for. "Richard" at the tonic bar goes above and beyond! (I'm biased!) Excellent service. I love this place. Great atmosphere.

Favorite market by far! Love the small town feel of the inside. Staff is always smiling and friendly. Often a staff member around if you can't find something or need a question answered. My brother is on a strict Paleo diet for his MS so it's nice to have a store that literally carries everything he eats! They even have vegetarian capsules to portion out his medicine. Produce is out of this world fresh. I've never had a batch of moldy strawberries or super bruised bananas. They have more exotic fruits also, such as dragonfruit. Hot section always has an amazing variety and changes daily. My favorites are the roasted potatoes, green beans, teriyaki chicken, and then yams/sweet potato. They have a lunch/dinner plate you can get with a protein and two sides, which I often get. Portions are generous. Sushi is always fresh and tastes great! Love when the sushi chef if out giving samples. He's so sweet and explains each roll. Yes it's a bit more pricey than your typical store, but worth the quality of food you're getting. read more

I am a patron of Erewhon from past 2 years and visit their Calabasas location every week. They have complimentary drink for the members every month and once in a while I get the drink. The drink they had this month had Collagen and I cannot drink it being a vegetarian. I requested them to not include it in my drink, though the cashier was ready to consider my request but her manager did not agree for it. The only reason I go their in-spite it's being an expensive place is because they have lot of vegan options but unfortunately people their don't understand customer needs. They have a rude classist attitude and treat customers as disposable in-spite of paying crazy membership fee every year. After the membership ends I will stick to Whole Foods going forward. Just wanted to start off by saying that I love erewhon, I frequent it often (3-4 times a week) and will continue to do that. Jennifer is a terrible manager. They have a water station in the front of the store that fills up 3 and 5 gallons of water. They have the bottles to be filled on top of the machine, so we grabbed one, inserted the money, and started to fill. All of sudden I felt water all over my feet and I noticed it was going everywhere. We quickly swapped it out for another bottle. I asked to speak to a manager as now my 5 gallon bottle was not filled due to the previous bottle being cracked. When Jennifer, the manager, came over she was not the slightest bit apologetic and said that we needed to take it up with the water company. Why would I need to take this up with the water company when the water dispenser did it's job? We inserted the money and it gave us water. The bottle, supplied, by erewhon, was cracked. This is not an issue with the water company. The manager proceeded to walk away and did not help in the slightest. It seemed that she wasn't able to understand that the problem was with the actual jug and not the water dispenser. To not offer a solution is horrible management. You would think at a high end store you would receive high end service. Such a shame. Thank you for nothing Jennifer. read more

This is a review for the coffee bar section only. Went in there today and ordered a matcha soy latte. Thought it was going to be very flavorful, with that typical matcha taste. Lo and behold, nothing of the kind. A 12 oz cup, full of warm, vaguely green soy milk, that had zero taste of matcha. Literally zero. Tasted like heated up soy milk, and that was it. Paid about $5.80, which is a bargain for Erewhon, but 1.5 teaspoon of clearly inferior matcha in a giant cup of soy milk does not a latte make. I returned from the parking lot after 2 sips, handed back, they refunded. Surprised more people don't do the same - must be a case of the Emperor's New Matcha - of course lack thereof. Will not bother again. Meanwhile, the best green tea latte, cappuccino, espresso etc., are still prepared by Urth Caffe on Melrose. They ought to open up in Calabasas. read more

I absolutely love the Erewhon brand of products that they offer. I've tried the hand soaps and their spices, mason jar nuts and peanut butter. The mason jar packaging is also so inviting and healthy for the consumer and good for the environment. I love their hot food bar, sandwich options, their juice bar is absolutely delicious with a great array of healthy options. Also they offer stellar service. This place is awesome! Their hot food bar is amazing! I had gluten free samosas which were ph th teriyaki sauce and I just have to say it was better than a restaurant! They also had these amazing vegan cheese rice balls which I've never tasted before but they were so delicious! This is a very pricey place however I recommend you go here just to try their food! My friend also has her products called Nourishe! The products are all organic made of fresh fruits, herbs mushrooms and vegetables! Part of her products are vegan and I just have to say this is the best product I have ever tried in my life and it's not because my friends product! The bad review is based only on the cashier Sayeh. I decided to stop by on my way back to Santa Barbra. This cashier was beyond rude. She was condescending and unpleasant. I ordered two strawberry glaze smoothies and a muffin. I asked for the smoothies in a 20oz and she replied with attitude as if I'm an idiot and said "um it only comes in 20oz", She made a face when I said my name, which is far more common than her own, she handed me my muffin without a single word. No here you go, or your smoothie will be out soon. Just shoved it at me after an already awkward ordering experience. Wouldn't be a huge deal but that was my first impression for this store. The girl who actually made the smoothie was so kind and sweet, she said my name and said it again and apologized at any mispronunciation. Because the cashier had spelled it so strange. I frequent Erewhon A LOT! I also order through their app for grocery delivery and through their app for postmates. After 5 bad deliveries through the postmates app, I have the leave a review. Paying a much higher premium through postmates, I expect Erewhon to be on top of their game and to read the comment section. If they weren't open to order specifics through their comment section, they should turn it off so you cannot customize your order. Today, I got a notification through postmates that I order so much through Erewhon on Postmates that I'm in their top 5% customers. So I just want to understand why it is so troublesome to read order comments. Multiple times I have ordered an Americano 20 oz, only to get a 12oz. Today, I ordered Avocado Toast with no egg. Egg really bothers my stomach, I must have some type of allergy to it and sure enough there's egg on the toast. Not to mention the avocado is completely brown. Multiple times I have picked up avocado toast from erewhon to drive it back to Westlake and it's never turned brown in the short amount of time. It smelled strange as well. Erewhon please ask your employees to read the comment sections. I've been sick for a few days and had been really looking forward to the avocado toast. I'm really disappointed especially since we pay a premium for postmates above the high prices. read more

Still not feeling much love for this temple of pure food, which instead seems to be all about the cash. We went there yesterday by special request when our dear friend asked us to shop for her. After getting most of her list at Trader Joe's, a few items were from Erewhon. Walking into the store, we were blasted with music on their sound system. I was on the phone with my buddy, to get clarification on some of the items, and could barely hear her. Fortunately, she knew her way around the store on where to find her choices, because the aisles aren't blessed with signs to offer a clue on what's in them. Odd! She was able to tell me where the gluten free tortillas live; I would have been hunting a long time on my own. They were out of a kind of g.f. cookie she likes, apparently for a long time. I decided to get her a treat from the bakery counter. It wasn't till we got to checkout that we discovered that 1 g.f. chocolate chip cookie was $3.50!?! Ouch. Dear Hubby selected a slice of coconut cake to have at home. At $6, likely twice what it would be elsewhere. He reports it was very tasty, not overly sweet, and with a good texture. He thinks the size was inadequate for the price. We will not be shopping here of our own accord in the future. read more

The ready-made food definitely tastes fresh and clean. I don't know if it was worth the crazy hype but it is cooked well. I give it 4 stars. The funny thing is that the people who worked there seemed so unhappy. I know it isn't always easy working in certain places, but they definitely looked like they didn't want to be there. I don't know why I thought the customer service at Erewhon would be better than other grocery stores. My mistake. 2 stars for cs. Wow, it's pretty spectacular. The most gorgeous feel-good store ever. You feel healthier just walking through. You'll be inspired to do a downward dog in the middle of the store. Namaste. It's like a spa for groceries! I just want to frolic in a garden of the farm-fresh organic greens, and splash around in a pool of clean fresh-pressed juice. Quality and presentation are on par with what a Grand Opening should be. I hope that they don't slip once the day-to-day kicks in. It's impressive: beautiful, bountiful organic vegetables, healthy snacks, delicious sushi, fresh organic salad bar, lovely prepared foods, sandwiches look like works of art, organic fresh-squeezed/pressed juices.
