Worth all the hype??? For hot foods and smoothies, YES!!! Having a teenager,all that mine wanted on our weekend trip to LA was a stop at Erewhon! We visited the Santa Monica location which I'm told is much more mellow than some of the others and it was extremely crowded, aisles for snacks are so small, I barely wanted to shop or be there because of that, and the smoothie line was consistently long, but your drinks come out quickly, so it's not that bad. We got salmon belly cakes, garlic noodles, sea bass, a turkey reuben, ashapops, and Hailey Bieber's smoothies. It ran us about $115, but I must say, it was all very fresh,, bursting with flavor, and all of it was incredibly good. I don't usually get fruity smoothies, but the Hailey Bieber smoothie which I'd usually roll my eyes at, was surprisingly something I would go back and get, even for $20. A once in a lifetime experience for someone who doesn't live in LA, and very overpriced for most items, but I can see why people love it here! read more

This place fits the LA stereotype to a T. I spent about $30 on what turned out to be a cold steak from their hot buffet line lol (which should've been served warm). When I asked if they could heat it up for me a little they told me they had no microwaves or ovens. Hmmmm....I followed that up with a small $6 chocolate chip Cookie for dessert that would've probably had been great fresh but tasted like it was a day old. My bad on that one. My girlfriend got a $22 pre-made sushi roll that she rated a meh at best. This probably marks the first and only time I'll pay $60 for a lunch for 2 at a grocery store. My friend and I went to grab smoothies and we specifically asked for no animal collagen in them. When they handed us the smoothies, we saw the receipt said "grass-fed" collagen... Meaning they were not vegan. This could have been a mistake if it was for one of the orders but because it happened to two orders that were ordered separately, there's a big concern when it comes to food safety. We both expressed multiple times to the cashier to please make sure the smoothies were vegan yet, instead they both came out with animal products in them... and we were charged MORE! Oj: it's fresh squeezed so that kind of justifies the $8 price tag. Chocolate croissant: buttery and airy. Not bad. But my friend says Milo across the street makes better ones. So, I love Erewhon, have a membership and shop regularly there, especially at the hot bar. The 3 stars is solely for the hot bar, 5 stars for the great staff, customer service and rest of the market. The quality of food and recipes at the hot bar has unfortunately gone way down in the last 6 months to a year. The food is now way too oily and not as healthy, sometimes over salty. There are also now more gluten-filled items mixed in with gluten-free items, sitting right next to them, which poses a greater risk of cross contamination for Celiacs. And the recipes are not as amazing and delicious as they used to be. There is not a ton of variety or rotation any more. I talked to the kitchen supervisor one day and they explained that it is up to the owners, and that they have made the changes. So, to the Erewhon Owners, please improve the recipes, lessen the greasiness and utilize your awesome chefs, unless you want to continue your quality decline like Whole Foods did. read more

Stopped by for the hot bar combo plate last night. I got the Korean BBQ ribs for my protein, which were dry and gross. It tasted more like soggy beef jerky. For the veggie sides I got the Buffalo cauliflower which was good and the kale avocado white bean salad, which was pretty good too. Price came out to $21.56 for a pound of food. CRINGE. The meal did come with a free Poppi seltzer so there's that. I also grabbed a box of kale chips made with nutritional yeast ($12) which was tasty. WOW. I didn't know a grocery store could be so beautiful. It's always a treat for me to go to Erewhon because there isn't one super close to me, but I always know I am not going to walk out of there with spending AT LEAST $30 (even if I only get a couple things). Firstly, parking is rough here. I luckily got a spot when I arrived, but leaving was very difficult because the parking lot is so narrow and cars are constantly either coming in or leaving and it's hard to back out. There was a valet person there, but he wasn't doing much to help direct traffic. The store has this really cool open feel, the registers don't look like registers, food is being prepared in a big open prep-space behind the counters. At first glance, the store is highly organized and BUSY. Lots of people wheeling their carts around and waiting for their coffee drinks. We ordered two breakfast burritos and some coffees. You can pay right at the deli/coffee counter to avoid getting in the regular line at the front which is nice. Unfortunately the person who was making our burritos was the only person behind the counter not wearing gloves. After speaking to a manager, they remade our burritos and were very quick to remedy the situation. However, they got one of our burritos wrong AND when you pay nearly $20 for a custom made burrito, you hope it would come out the way you ordered it. As I was waiting for the burritos, I took a lap around the store trying to find a dessert I recently tried and knew it was only sold it at Erewhon. I told the nearest employee what the brand was and they knew exactly where it was! I was impressed because the store is so huge. We then ordered coffees. My black coffee was given to me immediately but the latte we ordered took a while because they ran out of milk. Then, when we finally left and took a sip of the latte, it was the wrong drink. Overall, the customer service here is amazing. Every employee interaction was fantastic, however I feel that the store is SO busy/overwhelmed that mistakes were easily made, and we went home with 2 out of 4 breakfast items incorrectly prepared. The breakfast burritos were delicious! I ordered a gluten free tortilla with mine and was impressed by how good it was. Erewhon is definitely a fun place to shop and discover lots of new and interesting products, but be prepared to spend some serious money and wait a while for your food if you order it there. read more

The next morning, I took a few sips of Pineapple Dream, and it was indeed a dream of a happy marriage of orange, pineapple, and strawberry. My next favorite smoothie is Frankie's Malibu Mango Smoothie - it is SO creamy and melts in your mouth. 11/10. I came here with my family to pick up some lunch before our trip to The Getty Museum. I ordered a large Kale Salad with nuts and cranberries. I also got to try the salmon cakes which were delicious. The staff working behind the counter were kind, quick, and efficient. I also saw that there was someone handing out free samples of a chocolate bar that was gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free. There were three different types of flavors to choose from, and you never would have guessed that it wasn't plain milk chocolate. The person handing out samples was friendly and I ended up purchasing a bar for myself. He said he was a brand ambassador for companies selling products in stores and handing out samples. His company is called High Volume Sales. The guy was a great salesman because he was kind, honest, and personable. I would recommend both Erewhon Market and High Volume Sales. read more

I normally shop at whole foods and lately I've been exploring this new place and I have to say I am beyond impressed with the freshness of all their products especially the groceries. Everything is designed and layer out to make it easy to find. Fresh fruit and vegetables are always stocked up. The customer service is outstanding. You don't get through an aisle without being offered help to find what you are looking for. The prices are a bit more expensive. I want to say it's about 10%-20% more then other grocery stores so you should be prepared. The one negative I find with Erewhon is the membership. It's pretty expensive for a grocery store. $200 with only 10% back days you have to spend at minimum $2k a year to even get your money back. I think the membership would be more enticing at a lower price. That said, if you can afford it, this is the place to go. read more

The service here in the smoothie/cafe is horrendous :( I work right across the street in a doctor's office so I come here sometimes to get lunch or a smoothie. Every single time I have come I have experienced an extremely rude unpleasant worker, when I have been in the best of moods to start. It's ONLY at this location. I am a member at Erewhon and often go to the Silverlake and Pasadena location and never had a problem. The baristas/cashiers I've encountered here really seem like they hate their jobs and hate customer service. I have a couple specific instances that I won't even bother typing out the full stories, but it honestly makes me really sad! I almost called once right after my experience to speak to a manager. I try to avoid this Erewhon at all costs. It sucks I'm paying for a membership to be treated so poorly. read more

This establishment popped up on my TikTok page and showed off the popular Hailey Bieber Strawberry Skin Glaze smoothie and I knew the hour drive from Anaheim to Santa Monica would be worth it to try this special smoothie and see Erewhon for myself. The service was great and the barista helped me decide on how to best order the smoothie, however the length of time of waiting was pretty long even though multiple people were working! I love the inside of Erewhon and their set up throughout the store. It was super clean and efficient! My boyfriend and I tried some of their to go items of baked salmon sushi roll and spinach wrapped chicken Caesar wrap which was absolutely fresh and delicious! But if you hate making your food but you semi want to eat a healthier lifestyle this is the place to go to. They sell plenty of organic foods and they have a hot bar where you can pick and choose from what they make daily. It usually gets made and people order it and then they will make it again. Their mushroom pizza is legit, and their lasagna is hands down one of the best-cooked ones out there. You can order it with two sides and it comes in a box so you can take it back home and enjoy or eat it outside on their patio area. Overall I like to pick up a few items such as some kombucha, drinks, or even have collagen water. Just depends on what you want to get.
