I'm writing this review based on how a simple situation was handled by management. We ordered one protein açaí bowl and one regular açaí bowl. The protein bowl was extremely sweet, and the vanilla protein powder flavor was very overpowering. I understand that this may simply be how the item is prepared, so I'm not criticizing the quality or recipe. However, it wasn't to my taste and I couldn't eat it after just one spoonful. I asked the very nice employees if it would be possible to receive store credit instead. She was very kind and said she would need to check with the manager. When the manager came over, he initially seemed dismissive and asked what I meant by "too sweet." I calmly explained that it just wasn't to my personal taste and it is very sweet, and I can't touch it. I didn't want a replacement or money back , only store credit. He said OK and left... Shortly after, another staff member approached with a 25% discount coupon for a future visit left it on the table and left. I felt this response was not appropriate, especially since I already discussed this with the Manager. After some discussion between the two owners/managers, they eventually agreed to provide the store credit. In my opinion, this was a straightforward situation that could have been handled more smoothly. As a customer, I made a reasonable request and was not looking for anything beyond a fair resolution. From a management perspective, I believe it's important to listen to customer feedback and resolve concerns without unnecessary friction. read more

The staff in this cute little SaMo café are so patient and nice. The food is delicious and the vibes are very chill and accepting. I think Blue Alchemy is supposed to be their version of blue spirulina; there wasn't a prominent taste... very subtle coconut. The granola wasn't using typical oats, it was almost puffed, which was good but more similar to cereal. Fruits were sweet. It was around $15 and the bowl was pretty big, but not filling. 5/5: Def get the acai flavor, huge regret not going for the classic. It's probably the best acai flavor I've ever had. I always prefer blue spirulina, but I will get the classic acai bowl next time. Service is great. The ladies were fast and it took less than 10 mins to get my bowl. This is mainly a juice bar with breakfast entrees and coffee. I'd say the green hornet is the best smoothie out of all of the selections! Highly recommended. Açaí bowls are also available but we didn't order any. Parking is a pain however there is metered parking on the street. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. I was pretty disappointed by this place. I saw the reviews and was in desperate need of a snack before an appointment nearby and this was the closest. I paid $12 for the tropicali smoothie. I ordered it at 10:30 and it took about 25 minutes to come out, even though there were like three people in the store on a Saturday morning. The smoothie was poorly blended and the flavor was off. It was a 3 min walk from the hotel and when I walked in, instant vibe! The signs on the wall were beautiful, and I was greeted right away. It is a healthier smoothie shop with a variety of smoothies PLUS the best avocado toast! I opted in for the avocado toast which was avocado, tomatoes, radishes and pickled radish plus a poached egg. The smoothie was strawberry banana with a "bee mixture" . Everything was delicious. I wanted to come back the next day to try the smoked salmon toast but we didn't have time! After reading the menu I was really excited to try this place! I ordered Donnie's breakfast burrito, the total came to $22 because I added avocado which was a $2.50 additional charge. The burrito was very small for the price and quite soggy. Not to mention there was barely a speck of avocado, I almost thought they forgot to add it yet I was still charged for it. Had I not already taken it to go, I would've disputed the extra charge. Very disappointed with my experience. I love The Hive. It's my go to healthy option for breakfast, lunch and even a quick dinner when I'm in West LA. I visit the Santa Monica and Marina Del Rey locations. They have many gluten free options as well as organic coffee and lattes. I'm obsessed with the high protein açaí bowl, it's got gluten free granola and bee pollen and agave on top. The açaí itself is blended with almond milk so it's not too sweet and remains on the healthier side versus some places that mix with juice. Does the Acai taste cheap or premium? I've tried Acai Bowls at franchise spots like Uba Tuba, as well as spots like Body Energy Club. And of all the places I've been to, none have quite reached the pinnacle set by The Hive in terms of price, quality, and taste. In fact, the only two places I would ever have an Acai bowl in LA would be 1. The Hive and 2. Body Energy Club. To me, The Hive has established itself as the benchmark for Acai bowl excellence, so much so that it has rendered alternatives like Uba Tuba to be inadequate in comparison. I ordered the build your own Acai Bowl with an Acai base. Complemented by strawberries, banana, and blueberries for my fruits. Hemp granola and cacao nibs for my toppings. And finishing it off with almond butter and a drizzle of honey. Judging by the taste alone, you can tell The Hive only uses premium ingredients. And with locations in SM and Marina Del Ray, it comes to no surprise, as less than premium ingredients used would not fly with the demographic in these areas. You can also really taste the freshness of the fruits, which I appreciate. They don't cheap out by using fruits that are days past its peak in terms of taste and freshness. I come here every Saturday after my running workouts and it has not failed in terms of consistency and quality to this day. You can also expect an inviting ambiance, and the staff here are a delight. Parking is fairly easy to find, but they will be meter parking by the half hour as an FYI. Overall, a fantastic place for Acai bowls! Also, their other warm dishes are phenomenal as well. The smoked salmon avocado toast and breakfast burritos are some of the most tastiest dishes I've had in LA by far. They have a standard cafe menu here, as well as various breakfast items, smoothies, and macro bowls/cold bowls. You can even build your own! My bf ordered the breakfast burrito here. It came with salsa, which helped, but the burrito itself could have used more flavor. We had to salt it outselves. I ordered the Shroom Macro Bowl. The dressing as very flavorful and packed a zesty spicy punch, but it also could've been salted better. Docking a star because the food had lots of potential, but we had to salt it ourselves for better flavor. I also got a "Chaggaccino" which is basically a mushroom latte made with honey, cinnamon, cacao? TBH, it tasted just like a normal latte, just a bit earthier. No hint of mushroom at all, but supposedly "Chaga" is filled with lots of great antioxidants! We stopped on in one morning, before heading downtown. We had many requests for different breakfast options and this was the perfect place to stop in! It's located along a main road, next to a couple other good spots. We've been on the block three times on our trip! The options included, smoothies, a delight breakfast sandwich (more later), breakfast burritos as well as breakfast bowls and toasts. Lots of options for lots of palates and everyone left happy! The breakfast sandwich wasn't something I was expecting a ton from, but it was downright amazing! The biggest win was the bread - thinner sliced ciabatta that was both crispy and light. Ciabatta tends to be so substantial that it makes the sandwich innards seem less significant. Not so here! A good runny egg, some delicious bacon and great fixins. The smoothies were plentiful and delicious. The salmon toast was also a delight- the favorite part was the dual runny egg. Done perfectly and the perfect complement to the toast. Coffee and iced tea was solid. The folks working here were very nice and helpful. They got things done quick and were very friendly. The place has a colorful theme and a great vibe.
