    Breakfast Bowl
    Robert D.

The staff in this cute little SaMo café are so patient and nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food is delicious and the vibes are very chill and accepting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love love love that the pastries are all vegan & gluten free (the whoopie pie was a nice treat). My Americano was very smooth too. All-day breakfast bowl is such a healthy option. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And they have outlets and plenty of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check this place out!

Healthy and variety menu items. Heavy vegan options including desserts. My blue alcemy smoothie was decent but plain. Not much flavor and expensive. The vegan cookies were decent but could've got better options from Whole Foods. However if I'm in the area, I'd still dine here since it's one of few healthy options in the area that's walkable to the beach. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's water closets available for guest only. Great for a day at the beach.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Açaí bowl

Overpriced for the quantity/ quality. Bowl was really watered down, only a thin layer of granola and a little bit of fruit for $13. Their açaí base is flavorless and again really watered down. I only took a few bits of mine before tossing that's how bad it was.

Build my own bowl with Blue Alchemy, granola, chia seeds, fruit, and bee pollen

3.5/5: I got the Blue Alchemy, with granola, chia seeds, fruit, and bee pollen. The base has an amazing, thick consistency; a big plus that it didn't melt fast. I think Blue Alchemy is supposed to be their version of blue spirulina; there wasn't a prominent taste... very subtle coconut. The granola wasn't using typical oats, it was almost puffed, which was good but more similar to cereal. Fruits were sweet. It was around $15 and the bowl was pretty big, but not filling. 5/5: Def get the acai flavor, huge regret not going for the classic. It's probably the best acai flavor I've ever had. I always prefer blue spirulina, but I will get the classic acai bowl next time. Service is great. The ladies were fast and it took less than 10 mins to get my bowl. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a lot of space when I went around Monday noon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Green Hornet Smoothie

Stopped by for a smoothie. I originally got the tropicali but I thought it tasted pretty plain. I mentioned I didn't like it and they kindly made me a different smoothie. I went with the green hornet. I enjoyed this one a lot better - it's healthy but has a good flavor and is perfectly sweet. It's topped with bee pollen which is a nice touch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have lots of seating inside too and free WiFi.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Metered parking outside.

I got the cacao smoothie and it was very icey & waterey tasting. The ingredients list also included dates and I tasted no dates. I am wondering if they forgot to add a lot of the key ingredients. I expected a rich, protein heavy smoothie as advertised. Was disappointed as it cost 18.77.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]There was plenty of seating when we walked in and we got to order our drinks right away and it's really clean inside and I would say reasonably priced for a Santa Monica and a huge selection of drinks and eats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks here are packed with protein, which is amazing for a quick pick me up after a work out in the area. You can find parking on the street outside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the wooden and colorful vibes here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the staff is really kind.

Another great experience at The Hive! Delicious, healthy options made with the freshest ingredients. LOVE the High Protein Acai bowl here!

    Sweet calm vibe

Absolutely love this place. Great service. Solid good tasting food VG and V and GF abundant! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice vibes and wifi, tables and shade outside, or I also like to sit inside at the windows and people watch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Green Hornet Smoothie
    Kevin H.

This is mainly a juice bar with breakfast entrees and coffee. I'd say the green hornet is the best smoothie out of all of the selections! Highly recommended. Açaí bowls are also available but we didn't order any. Parking is a pain however there is metered parking on the street. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. People bring their study materials here and sit to work and study inside. I came here and there was no line at all.

    Avocado Toast

Let's take about The Hive! 5/5 across the board can't recommend this restaurant enough! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Stumbled upon The Hive in the mood for a smoothie after a workout. It was a 3 min walk from the hotel and when I walked in, instant vibe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The signs on the wall were beautiful, and I was greeted right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is a healthier smoothie shop with a variety of smoothies PLUS the best avocado toast! I opted in for the avocado toast which was avocado, tomatoes, radishes and pickled radish plus a poached egg. The smoothie was strawberry banana with a "bee mixture" . Everything was delicious. I wanted to come back the next day to try the smoked salmon toast but we didn't have time! If you're ever in the Santa Monica area don't miss out on The Hive.

Build your own bowl Spinach, sweet potatoes, beets, broccolini, chickpeas, sesame lemon dressing and lemon herb farro.
    Lynn P.

My first time at The Hive convinced me: I'll be back! Build your own Bowl: $12.95, under 300 calories and very fillling: Spinach, sweet potatoes, beets, broccolini, chickpeas, sesame lemon dressing and lemon herb farro.

    Donnie's Breakfast Burrito
    Sofia V.

After reading the menu I was really excited to try this place! I ordered Donnie's breakfast burrito, the total came to $22 because I added avocado which was a $2.50 additional charge. The burrito was very small for the price and quite soggy. Not to mention there was barely a speck of avocado, I almost thought they forgot to add it yet I was still charged for it. Had I not already taken it to go, I would've disputed the extra charge. Very disappointed with my experience. I believe in paying extra for restaurants that prioritize healthy and higher quality ingredients but I honestly feel scammed.

    Is your acai sugar free?

Hi Angel, the acai base we use is 100% pure acai so there is no sugar, however when bananas or other fruit toppings are added it adds the fruit or sweetener sugar.

    Do they serve Kava?

Hi Jack! Thanks for asking! Yes we do offer Kava as an add on to any drinks or bowls. Come zen out ;)

I found Bluey's Cafe because I asked ChatGPT for a great breakfast spot with reasonable prices…read moreafter picking up a friend from LAX. I figured I'd give the recommendation a try, and I'm so glad I did. From the outside, it's in a pretty nondescript industrial area, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But once you walk in, it feels like you've discovered a hidden neighborhood gem. The café has a relaxed, beachy vibe with a cozy, homey atmosphere. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor tables, and I noticed a lot of people enjoying breakfast, catching up with friends, or working on their laptops. I ordered the American breakfast with eggs, kale salad, sourdough toast with butter and jam, avocado, and tomatoes. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. I also had a black coffee and one of their Bluey's coconut waters, which was a nice addition to the meal. One thing I really appreciated was the location. Even though it's tucked away from the busy streets, there's plenty of parking, it's peaceful, and you don't feel rushed. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. Overall, this was a 10 out of 10 experience. Great food, great atmosphere, easy parking, and a place I'd happily come back to. If you're looking for a fantastic breakfast or brunch on the Westside, especially if you're coming from LAX, Bluey's Cafe is absolutely worth the visit. Highly recommended!

Got the Pedro Burrito & a hot latte…read more It ended up being 24 dollars, and 29 something once I added the tip. To be fair, the ingredients were fresh - but the execution was lacking. For the latte, it was rather milky - and it didn't taste that strong. As I said, I had it hot, and it seemed rather lukewarm - if anything. Extremely foamy, and didn't seem to taste like maple - even though that was the syrup used. The oatmilk was a great substitute, but something seemed to be missing from the drink. Truth be told, I'm a huge coffee snob. Being in LA, you come across so many coffee spots - and I'll admit that I am picky when it comes to my caffeine. The service was great, and quick. I didn't have a problem with that. The water more so a self service situation, which I didn't mind. Lastly, the shining jewel - the burrito. Which, in all truthfulness, was the most disappointing. The reason I'm still giving it three stars is because the flavors within the burrito were bold, and similar to how I remembered it when I last got it. However, one side of the burrito wasn't grilled - leaving the rest of the tortilla ending up rather gummy. Loved the pickled onions. It added such a needed sharp taste to help balance out each bite. Sadly, they didn't offer the little sauce they typically serve this burrito with. Unfortunately, the food was so underwhelming and a downgrade from when I last went that it is now joining my graveyard of spots in LA that simply aren't worth a repeat visit anymore. Heartbreaking conclusion.
