Visited a friend in Ventura who brought us here for a nice lunch on the pier and it was perfect! Ordered at the register up front, line moved really quick, and the person taking orders was nice and helped us decide between a couple options we were torn on. I ordered the Caesar Salad with chicken and sweet potato fries. My friends ordered a poke bowl and some calamari. The Caesar salad was delicious, not too fishy which some places tend to be, and the grilled chicken was juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I didn't try my friends' poke bowl but it looked delicious and she loved it. The calamari was cooked perfectly and seemed to be good quality and not rubbery. The sweet potato fries were good, but maybe not worth an extra amount for them. The atmosphere was very laid back and pretty open, although our seats facing the ocean were in the sun and we cooked, so our fault for sitting there lol. This is where I go for a really indulgent meal and quite frankly favorite place. We often come here for oysters which are always a treat. Our go-tos are the blackened fish tacos, but the star of this place is the steamer bowl, which is chock full of crab, scallops, shrimp, clams and mussels. I gave it another chance because my husband enjoys coming here, but after this time he no longer enjoys it either he really likes the Ahi tuna sandwich because the wasabi aïoli is really tasty but this time he found it maybe half the amount of tuna that he normally gets. Their menu is quite long and offers a large selection to everyone. From simple tacos to traditionally fried items to simply grilled entrees, most should be pleased. The oysters are deliciously fresh, and their clam chowder just might hit those hunger pains better for a starter. I found that often times they overly cook their fish in both their tacos and entrees. This is a shame since their catch is usually very fresh. Also, pasta dishes may also be overcooked too at least for my taste. One big savior is the Rice Pilaf they have for a side. Green and red peppers, kale and bits of fish make up a passable stew - the fact that it can be served in a bread bowl only reminds the patron how dry the stew is. Definitely eats more like a meal. Sea bass special Overdone and chewy and retains paltry flavor. We asked for a more green sauce and they failed to find the right sauce. Came back in hopes of having another great experience. Unfortunately, things didn't go quite as well. I ordered the ceviche again and it was assembled very sloppily and didn't look anything like what I had before. The food came out in a decent amount of time but several spots had trays and trash all over them and remained so for more than 15 minutes. We pushed items to the side just so we could sit indoors. There was a "now hiring" post at the entrance so I assume they were short-handed during a busy Saturday lunch hour. Great seafood restaurant on the Ventura Pier. Whether you are a fried, grilled, steamed or raw seafood lover they have it all. They have a variety of fish and seafood options available to satisfy everyone. If you prefer to prepare the items yourself you can also choose and buy from the fresh seafood counter to take home. With so many options you will not have any reason to leave hungry. We usually start off with an appetizer of ceviche that is marinated and seasoned well served with tortilla chips. I am a big fish and chips lover just good standard beer battered fish and delicious chips (fries). Now I am not comparing this by any means to the chip shops in the UK. The fish and chips served here however are fluffy, moist and one of the best in the area. The pieces of fish are well portioned served with a large portion of chips. The tartar sauce served with the plate is well seasoned and creamy. My husband prefers blackened menu choices and usually opts for the entree of either blackened halibut or swordfish. The plate is served with with vegetables and either rice (pilaf style) or potatoes. He prefers the rice and says it is flavorful. He is always happy with his blackened fish that is well seasoned. He always leaves happy with his selection. This is an order at the counter service and food brought to your table. There has been times where our name was called to pick up food at the counter as well. So I am not sure what the norm is. This restaurant is on the pier and the parking available is either in the outdoor lot by the pier or the parking structure. The parking is paid however you can request validation from the restaurant to cover a portion of your parking fees. You park and walk to the pier to access the restaurant. The top floor above the restaurant is MadeWest Brewery. Customers will go upstairs to get a beer while waiting for their food to be completed and eat downstairs in the restaurant. The restaurant does have alternative beers on tap as well to chose from. There are options for seafood restaurants to choose from in Ventura and Ventura County. However Beach House Fish is a great option and I would suggest giving it a try. read more

The variety of different food dishes is helpful as not everything is just fish. Get a Banquet frozen Mac & Cheese, over Microwave it, eat some and put the rest in your refrigerator uncovered for about a week, re-microwave it, mix in some little bits of rubbery shrimp and such and you'd have it. It sounded so good. Color me sad. It was insulting on every level imaginable. How can a place that came up with those brussels sprout tacos possibly serve this. Please, take it off the menu. Now, back to or normal review... The service is great, friendly, helpful, especially for first timers as it can be a bit confusing about where you can sit if having an alcoholic beverage, the building really houses two separate bars on different levels.
