I discovered this hidden gem completely by accident while browsing Yelp. Tucked away inside the Harbortown Point Resort--just to the left of the Ventura Harbor Patrol--it's easy to miss, but absolutely worth finding. After reading rave reviews about Sal and his mom running the place with pride, I decided to stop by for a breakfast burrito, hoping to meet one of them. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Sal, who enthusiastically walked me through the menu. I opted for a custom burrito packed with tri-tip, potatoes, eggs over easy, and extra cheese. When it arrived, it was served with avocado salsa and was so massive that Sal had to cut it in half. One bite in, and I knew--I had just found the best breakfast burrito I've had in years. It was perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and incredibly satisfying. Then came the biggest surprise--the check. This incredible meal was only **$10.50**! Everything on the menu is reasonably priced, making it an unbeatable value. Sal also mentioned they stay open late for dinner on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. My wife and I are already planning to come back tonight. I'm especially excited to try their Sunday special from **1-6 PM**--tri-tip, chicken, and two sides for just **$15**. This cafe and bar are part of a timeshare. There are very few customers. Consequently, not all menu items are available. We went there for breakfast. There were no waffles, or any of the three special toppings for the pancakes. No poached eggs. However, if you want to dine in solitude, this is the place to go. For selfish reasons I'd like to keep quiet and keep this absolutely cool culinary fund to myself and my family, but that wouldn't be fair to the rest of you - and certainly not fair to the wonderful team that make some of the tastiest food you've eaten. Thank you to Saul and his team for a wonderful experience at your restaurant. My wife had the blue cheese bacon burger (see picture), and I had a special chile verde dinner plate with two eggs over medium, beans and flour tortilla. Food is served at perfect temp, and there's portions were quite large, but most importantly you'll be thrilled with what you're served. There's not enough room here to describe all the special care Saul puts into his plates. My wife can't have sesame so he recommended she try his fresh baked sourdough. Wow, was it ever special - and the burger was spectacular. The chili verde plate was as good as I can remember ever having tasted. The level of heat, the super tender pork, the savory roasted chili sauce, the fresh cheeses all combined to make a meal I will return for. Throw all this in with a very personable Saul, his mother, and Miguel. Saul went out of his way to ensure a perfect meal and he delivered. We can't wait to come back for a repeat visit and we've definitely found a new favorite restaurant. Don't miss this place if you're in the Ventura area. What a hidden treasure! My hubby found this cafe on yelp. We ordered the special of the day, tri tip sandwich with fries or onion rings. The tri-tip sandwich was perfect! It was so tender and flavorful! We were given a taste of their homemade spicy barbecue sauce that was so delicious! The chef gave us a few slices of his homemade sourdough bread with butter which we used to sop up the rest of the Spicey bbq sauce. Great service! We will definitely be back! read more

Driving through town from out of county and saw this place on yelp. The location is deceiving as it is in the middle of condos/resort area. The ambience of the location is outdated and looks like a gift shop. It definitely did not feel as though the yelp images/food matches the ambience. Upon seating we were immediately greeted with the very friendly chef. They were out of a few ingredients but our party got turkey and cheddar sandwiches , grilled chicken salad, and a hot Club sandwich. We were happily surprised that the food was not only fresh but super delicious and all of us cleared our plates. The food was amazing and this location should focus on revamping the inside to draw in more business. It is right off of the marina but set back so you don't have direct view of the water. We saw the reviews and had to stop after spending time at the beach. Don't let the location deter you. It's in a funky location but totally worth trying. The food and hospitality are phenomenal. I had the roast beef melt, get it with ranch dressing, it's delicious. We also had a green chili burger that was very good and a turkey melt. We were driving home and needed a late lunch and we looked at Yelp and found this place. It is in a very odd location. I think upstairs is time shares. We walked in and we were the only ones there and I thought it was a mistake. I almost walked back out again but I'm so glad we didn't. We had 2 adults and 2 kids. The server and the chef were so friendly! They brought some fresh sourdough bread out that was absolutely delicious. I almost asked if we could buy a loaf. My kids got the chicken strips and fries and my other kid got the blt but add turkey and no tomato on the fresh sourdough. I got a French dip and onion rings and my wife got the tri tip bbq salad (the only meal we took a picture of because it was so lovely). The portions for everything were big. The restaurant is on the property of the Harbortown Point Resort but open to the public for dining by resort guests and non-guests alike. I took my longtime friend here for her birthday. It was hot in Thousand Oaks and wanted to get away from the heat. We found this Cafe on Yelp with 5 stars and decided to check it out. We were so glad that we did. We arrived after the "lunch-time" crowd, so we had the whole cafe to ourselves. My friend had the Fish & Chips and I had the Turkey Melt sandwich. My sandwich had mild green chili peppers in it and gave it a nice addition to the sandwich. The plate came with simple, but nice spicy green artistic dots, which I occasionally dipped my sandwich in. Saul and his mom run the place and were so warm and welcoming. They not only run the restaurant, they also manage the reservations for the BBQ at the resort, DVD rentals, convenience store, etc. We were not guests of the resort, and were so glad that this place is open to the public. When Saul asked what brought us in, we told him that we were celebrating my friend's birthday, he asked if he could give us an ice cream sundae to help celebrate. We were so touched by his genuine desire to make our experience special. We definitely will be back. I want to bring my husband back for the Sunday BBQ lunch! read more

I don't leave reviews very often but I had to go out of my way to give a glowing recommendation for Point Club. This cafe-slash-bar is easy to miss and about as unassuming as it comes. But our experience was fantastic. The staff was welcoming and kind to us and our toddler, adding small touches and flourishes to our meal, the quality of which far outstrips expectations. As we were leaving, they gave us complimentary cookies to go---probably not a regular occurrence but indicative of how amazing this place and its team is. The pricing is also quite competitive. My friend and myself went to the Point Club Cafe for breakfast. I live a short walk from the Cafe and saw the reviews on Yelp and wanted to try the Point Club. I ordered the French Toast and my friend the French Toast Sandwich (it isn't really a sandwich). The French Toast was on thick bread and was light and perfectly golden. My friends French Toast Sandwich had potatoes, eggs, bacon and french toast. The portions were big and the bacon was cooked as she requested, crispy. We walked in at 5:25pm, a lady turned to us and said with a confused look on her face "can I help you?" I was then very confused and said isn't this a restaurant? She said yes but we close in 30 min then looked away from us. Online it says they close at 7pm. My confusion is why couldn't we order food? They were still open!!! So glad we found this cafe. The service was not only excellent, it was provided by the nicest people I have ever encountered running a restaurant. The food was primo. We ordered the Hawaiian Burger. The make the patty fresh and they also bake the buns. It was cooked perfectly and it was delicious. We also got the tuna melt. We were fighting over it. So good! Mom serves the guests and son is the chef. Such nice people. The chef came out to check on us and to ask about the food. The place is very nice and clean. We had our 10 month old with us. He can be messy. They were delightful with him and brought him toys to keep him busy. We are looking forward to going back soon. We highly recommend it. What a hidden little gem. We were looking for something a little different for our Saturday lunch, and found this wonderful little place on Yelp. Chef/Manager Saul, his Mom Trini, and our server Miguel were so welcoming and friendly. Sat at the bar and had a cocktail before our food. My Chicken Caesar was so perfectly seasoned, and the portion was very generous. My Sweetie had a bacon and cheese omelette, with potatoes and homemade sourdough toast. She said it's one of the best omelettes she's ever had. Saul even let us sample an Oxtail Mole recipe he's working on. So good! The atmosphere is very cool, a combination snack/gift shop, casual cafe, and bar. The food was delicious, and we had such a great time chatting with the warm and hard working staff. If you have been in the area around Harbortown Point Marina Resort or have stayed there and not visited the Point Club Cafe and Bar you are missing out big time! Sure, it doesn't have a view of the ocean or much of a view at all, doesn't have much ambiance..............................BUT...............it has the friendliest staff and Sal is the best chef around! Something simple like a bacon cheeseburger he makes better than any other I have ever had. Breakfast is phenomenal too. I really can't say enough good things about this little unassuming cafe. We live in the Ventura Marina & have started to frequent this place since it is just so good! The service is outstanding (thanks to Saul and his mother) since they are both incredibly attentive and friendly. The food is so delicious & they are very accommodating to dietary restrictions (IE- I am a vegetarian and they had delicious artichoke tacos for me even during their Sunday Tri-Tip & Chicken BBQ!). The food is also very reasonably priced for the portion sizes. Overall I completely recommend this place, it is in a beautiful hidden little spot in the harbor & everyone should check it out! read more
