Visiting some long time friends who are La Quinta locals and they suggested Ernie's, located at the PGA West site of many golf tournaments. The place was packed, inside and out on the deck, but the service was still prompt and helpful. We had a couple of fish and chips, a Caesar with chicken and a tuna melt, and every bite was perfectly delicious. Food has gotten so much better that I now Iove go to Ernies since I live in the neighborhood. My friends and I recently tried the Chicharones , (fried pork skins) some may not agree, but I have to tell you they are the best I've eve had. My friend from Idyllwild can't wait to go there to get them again and we did, and he's a food freak of all foods. Ordered - * I had the candied bacon beef hot dog with sweet potato fries - I requested my hot dog be butterflied which the kitchen complied. The bacon strips were cut into pieces and lathered onto the bun. I highly recommend this item. * hubby had bowl of chili. He liked. * sis had the lemongrass pot stickers. We enjoyed a delicious lunch today at Ernie's Bar & Grill in PGA West at the Nicklaus Stadium course in La Quinta. It was a very busy day at the course there was a tournament but that didn't slow down the excellent service and fantastic food. The outdoor patio is unbelievable with views of the Nicklaus 18th green and the Palmer 9th green. We ordered fish and chips, a Patty Melt and Ernie's Cobb salad. Go for the golf course view! Breakfast is better than lunch, both in terms of value and quality. We have a vacation home within walking distance and love the ambiance but find the food (lunch) to be mid, and breakfast is mid-fine. Drinks are pricy. read more

Seeing they got "Restaurant of the Year' by Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce has to be a Joke. The leadership/people in charge, manager Erica, Dir. Food/Beverage Flavio and two exec. chefs Herve and Alvaro don't actually care if they put our quality food or they'd at least respond to reviews and/or make an effort to improve the quality. Ernies is a great bar/tavern/clubhouse in PGA West....lively, fun...mostly golfers and locals. It is located in a fantastic setting with beautiful views, everything is perfect except for the food! It never was great but today it was really mediocre. The Caesar salad was bland...there was some sort of watered down dressing on it. Likewise with the Cobb Salad. Absolutely no taste...no dressing to speak of. Everyone's meal was just so-so...sad to say. This review is meant to please improve your food to match this great restaurant. Look- PGAWeat is a 6 pack ride away from anywhere. Unless you belong to the club you have a looong ride to anywhere for dining- except here. We were seated on the lovely back patio which is along the golf course. The place was busy. We have been going for several years and always had the best food. The staff was short tempered, our order was completely wrong and my chicken was not cooked through. The pizza was hard and cold. There literally wasn't one dish that we were served that was worth eating. They were all cold and hard. I live in PGA West and frequent here quite often. I was sad to see it's been going downhill. I hope they get new employees or management who take pride in their work, show kindness and realize before serving dishes that the food has been sitting too long. Fingers crossed. read more

Popped in for lunch with my golf loving dad, who recently bought a home in La Quinta, and 1 year old son. Very quiet for lunch but we had lovely service from start to finish. Cocktails were cold and strong. The menu has something for everyone. The shrimp and tomato salad was huge, fresh and delicious. Honestly, I go to Ernie's because of the ambience. I love just sitting at the bar watching sports, I love sitting on the patio watching folks golf, I like spotting a Bighorn Ram every once in a while, and I like the service. I am a pretty generous reviewer because I know that people most times try really hard to make their business a success, but at the same time I know that folks want to have honest reviews about a restaurant. With that said, the food here is simply mediocre and I'm a little irritated every time I get the check because I can't believe how much I'm paying for food that just isn't that tasty. This place is horrible! Did my annual golf trip with the guys had a reservation for 9. Not only was the staff extremely rude, but they almost messed up the orders and then tried to blame us for messing it up. The 3 of us who got the wrong food winded up getting food to go after waiting an hour! When we asked the manager what they can do, he responded extremely rude and took one item off and said there is nothing else they can do. For how expensive and nice this place i expected a lot more! I love Ernie's but the prices seem to have gotten out of hand. I can't believe an order of wings is now $42, a half of a cobb salad is $19 and a double cheeseburger is $29!?! Some of the prices have increased by nearly 50%. I can go to restaurant just a couple miles away and get the same size order of wings for $14 and $11 on happy hour! It's always been very confusing even though we come all the time. 90% of the time, the staff and management are very nice to me and randomly, they tell my parents I can't be here. I'm a service animal, but we never say anything because we want to know how restaurants would treat everyday puppies. As for the food, mom and dad seem to enjoy it for its simplicity. After a round of golf at PGA West, we went to Ernie's for a quick bite to eat. Ernie's is located in the PGA West clubhouse. We were greeted by our host and we were seated right away. Carolina Fuentes was our server and was very attentive to us. We ordered a thin crust pizza and some cold iced tea. Our food came out pretty quickly and Carolina kept checking on us making sure we were good. I recommend coming to eat here. They have appetizers, burgers, salads, and pizza plus other items on the menu. The view is beautiful. Come check it out, my experience here has been great. Yours might be too! read more

This restaurant is horrible. They doubled their prices. $29.00 for a double stacked hamburger. I can get a wonderful Kobe burger from PGA private club Kennedy's for $17.00. I feel they are taking advantage of the vacationer's. We just ordered a meat lovers pizza. Hardly any meat. $31.00 and the dough was raw in the middle. Wings 1lb 27.00 2lb 42.00. Last time we were right next to the fireplace and the temperature was perfect! WOW!!! Big improvement! We have been coming to Ernie's for over 20 years and have seen all the ups and downs over time. Our visit in December 2024 was amazing! Menu was great. Updated options and more choices. Our server Maria L was always checking on us. No more endless waiting! Always there for more condiments, napkins, beverage refills and the bill. Her service was fabulous. In addition... the food! Seriously, one of the best meals we've had in a long, long time. Giant pretzel with amazing cheese sauce, brussels sprouts with bacon and swordfish taco's. Second time having dinner at Ernie's. Food is really good. Ambiance is lovely. Our dining experience not so much. First we got a wrong drink, second a wrong appetizer, third a wrong meal, fourth over charged for meal, fifth after trying to fix the bill for 10 plus minutes we got it back wrong again. The waitress was adorable and had a lovely smile, apologized each time. But in the end you have to try harder. When she took our order she even wrote everything down. So I'm not sure if it was her messing up or the kitchen. But in the end it simply ruined our whole evening. Not sure we'll go back as there are so many places to eat around here. read more

After a tough day hitting Bed Bath and Beyond, Home Depot, and Sam's Club, and then unloading the merchandise and figuring out what my wife wanted to return on a later date, I was ready to visit Ernie's Bar & Grill. Ernie's is located in the world renowned PGA West golf community. The bar and grill is decorated at a 5 star level, and is well beyond any type of clubhouse grill I have seen. Very classy, relaxing, and great course views. I ordered an Old Fashion with Maker's Mark. The friendly bartender was not shy with the Maker's Mark, and it was tastefully mixed with orange, cherry, bitters, and simple syrup. This was one of the better Old Fashions I have had. Just a tip: only have one so you can have another great day returning all of the items at Bed Bath and Beyond. We look forward to returning to try the food and hope it is as good as the drinks! read more
