Attended a social group mixer that was held at the Platinum Cowboy. I really liked the interior decor with a mix of an old west vibe but still modern in comfort appointments. The staff were all very warm and accommodating. I didn't have any food but there was a large table basically in the middle of where our group was congregating and everything looked and smelled good. The only negative was though I was simply standing with a drink and talking I found it to be kind of hot inside even though it was yet not that hot outside prompting me venture into the larger dining area where there was an overhead fan which thankfully cooled me down sufficiently. But a side benefit of that was, I discovered a good sized entertainment stage at the far side of the room. Although I'm not a big fan of country music I will definitely look into what they offer in shows. And make a point of having a meal in the near future as my social group will likely meet there again for our monthly gatherings. I would give 5 stars if not for the indoor temperature but even at that I'd 4.5 stars if Yelp allowed. read more

We enjoyed our dinner at Platinum Cowboy. Servers were friendly and attentive. The manager was very friendly. The decor was quasi western bar. The rest rooms were very clean. We all enjoyed our food. I had the grilled catfish and my wife had the fried chicken sandwich. Our friends had the chili (excellent) and the grilled chicken sandwich. I saw multiple tasty looking entres and deserts being delivered. Try the onion rings, they're superb. Only two negatives. The kitchen was slow but the food was served hot. The catfish was a little over seasoned for my taste. We will definitely be back. read more

We were excited to give this place a try, but it ended up being pretty underwhelming. The potato skins lacked seasoning and weren't very crispy. The spicy peach wings sounded much better than they tasted, with very little spice and an overly sweet sauce. The fried catfish was cooked fine, but the breading was bland and didn't have much flavor. The draft beer list was probably the biggest disappointment. For being in an area surrounded by excellent local breweries, the tap list was filled with the same generic beers you can find almost anywhere. It doesn't feel like they're embracing the local craft beer scene, which is a missed opportunity. Service was okay. The cowboy host was friendly and funny, and he definitely added some personality to the experience. I do like the old-school Western decor, but it almost feels stuck in the past instead of celebrating what makes the Coachella Valley unique today. That concept worked well when it was Roadhouse in Palm Springs, but in Palm Desert it feels like it could use a refresh and more of a local identity. Overall, it just wasn't a place I'd rush back to. If you're looking for a more welcoming atmosphere, better food, and a stronger local beer selection, I'd recommend checking out Cactus Jack's or Little Bar instead. read more

A friend of ours recommended Platinum Cowboy. Decided to go for lunch on Saturday 7/18. They opened at 11:00 for lunch. We were early so we drove around Palm Desert for 15-20 minutes waiting for them to open. Got to the restaurant at 11:00 on the dot. The doors were locked. A nice gentleman opened the doors for us. When we got inside, another gentleman in a cowboy hat was sitting at a table. When he saw us enter he started YELLING at the first gentleman. ""WHY DID YOU UNLOCK THE F***ING DOOR? WE AREN'T OPEN YET!" The two went into the kitchen where the second Gentleman continued to yell and curse at the First Gentleman. After standing in the lobby area for 2-3 minutes unattended, we left. Can't tell you if the food was good or not and I will never be able to tell you. Will never go back there again. Cactus Jacks was delicious with excellent service. read more

This place is a 10! Food, service ambience! We all had the Platinum Burger, one cooked well, one cooked med.rare and mine was rare! All came out perfectly cooked. Hats off to the chef! Our table ordered the fried catfish, Beef dip and two hamburgers. We also had cocktails. We all enjoyed our choices. Service was good. Yes, the sign said "Be sure to say hello to the bartender so they know you're here!" We didn't mind that. Not sure about their servers because the owner waited on us. All were friendly and food came out hot and quickly. I also enjoyed that they had a good selection of appetizers. The place does resemble a saloon sort of, very casual, vintage chandeliers and kind of dark. I didn't care for the "wood looking" tablecloths. Would like to see something a bit lighter and nicer on tables. We really would like to see this place succeed as they have a lot of room and will possibly have live bands in the future. The entrance needs better signage as it's pretty well hidden in the corner of this building. We will try it again! read more

My girlfriend and I came for our date night from Palm Springs and I can say it was worth it! The atmosphere is wonderful the staff is super helpful and kind! The bartender Dale is very funny and can talk keeping things interesting! I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious paired with those fries! We were excited to try this new restaurant for us. We both ordered the rib dinner After taking one bite the food was terrible. The chef came out to talk to us and he explained that their training people in the back and he's been a chef at many places for years. My wife and I both had burgers, it was cooked well, but it needed a lot of seasoning. Pretty average. The menu is small need more variety. Maybe it'll come the longer. They're open. Had an out of town guest and decided to give it a try. We were greeted warmly and the decor was great. The menu was packed with a variety of options. Between us we had a fried catfish sandwich, a French dip, chili and fries. The servings were very ample and all of the plates delicious. My friend and I were excited to try this new restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing from the moment we walked in. There was no hostess, only a sign instructing customers to seat themselves. As we entered the dining area, a gentleman behind the bar wearing a cowboy hat and he had a beard, looked directly at us, but offered no greeting or acknowledgment, before answering the phone. At the time, there were only four tables occupied, and all those customers were already eating. My friend and I seated ourselves in a booth near another table and waited for service. We were never given menus, greeted, or even acknowledged. We watched the same gentleman walked through the dining room, checking on other tables, offering refills, water, and asking how their meals were, yet he completely ignored us. He eventually disappeared into the back/bar area and was out of sight. After waiting 10 to 15 minutes without seeing a single employee or receiving any acknowledgment at all, we got up checked the bar area ourselves, but no one was there. No sight of any employee anywhere. We finally decided to leave. I understand this is a new restaurant, and growing pains happen, but there is simply no excuse for completely ignoring customers. A quick greeting, menus, or even " someone will be with you shortly" would've made a huge difference. Instead, we left feeling disappointed and unwelcome.
