Sometimes he likes to use a blade to line me up, and when he does it looks cleaner than most barbers i've tried. I usually come here, but the past year & a half, I've run into two major issues with them. 1) Uneven cuts. (Check out some of the other reviews; this isn't a new problem.) And more importantly 2) These guys are MASSIVE conservative Trump dudes and will say some heinous stuff while cutting your hair. I've heard these guys laugh and mention vile stuff about immigrants, race, etc. that would probably get anyone who didn't own their own business fired anywhere else. Today was my last visit after one of them kept making jokes about the protestor who died in Charlottesville yesterday. The price may be fair, but unless you want a bad cut & a bunch of unasked-for conversation that sounds like a FOX News op-ed, you should take your business elsewhere. read more

Honestly folks, I have gotten my haircut in a bunch of places. This was, by far, the most amazing haircut experience I have had in my 37 years of life. It might just be me, as I connected with the owner of this long time, family owned barbershop. I was greeted with a friendly smile and added next in line when I popped up as a walk-in. The owner took over this shop from his grandfather. You couldn't ask for a better man to cut your hair. He is a happy, friendly guy. To be frank I would have taken whatever he gave me but on top of being a great place, I received a precision haircut! I just came to Glendale, California and I have found where my loyalty lies. Zach and Tom are excellent old school barbers. I have been a customer for over 25 years and my in-laws go back another 25 years. None of the negative critiques are accurate. Tom is hispanic and had his own shop in Glendale for decades. He cut my hair just prior to the Covid-19 closure and it lasted for nearly 4 months. Zach is the owner and he was mentored by his grandfather Ernie. The price is well below the average price for a haircut. The magic of Ernie and Zach made them members of the Magic Castle and you may be surprised who you meet at the shop. If you have children, request a magic trick. I went here when I was a kid and when my mom asked to change something or cut a little more somewhere, they complained and gave my mom an attitude and whispered underneath their breath "damn orientals." I remember going by myself one time and I asked for a quarter of an inch shorter, and the lady gave me an attitude. 20 years later, I walk in there because my old barber Tom rented in the last seat (towards the back) and they haven't changed. When I walk in, no "hi" and they just look at me, give me a dirty stare, and go on with their business. They're only nice to their customers and from what I notice, they only really talk to white folks. Prices have gone up over the years (it is now about $15 plus tip), but I suppose that is to be expected. I have been coming to this place since I was in Kindergarten and would go in and ask for a "Kid's Cut". Not sure if they have that anymore... This place is great! I only got a straight razor shave, which was reasonably priced ($17), and on top of that a great shave. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm "hello" from the barber who gave me the straight razor shave. You will get the old fashioned shave treatment with the hot and cold towels and warm shaving cream. This place is easy to find, since it's on the corner of Chevy Chase and Glenoaks Boulevard, with the old fashioned barber pole stripes on the outside wall. Ernie has been cutting my hair since the mid-70's and always does a great job!...still remember the day when I fell asleep with gum in my mouth and come morning, it ended up in my hair (I was probably about 8 at the time)...Ernie worked his magic and made me look normal! This is a small, classic barber shop that hasn't changed too much since I've been going there (yes, they now have a large TV that is great to watch football games on when I go in on Sundays)... I was in town for a wedding and needed a fresh cut, so I stopped by and the barber Zach hooked it up. He's the grandson of the owner Ernie, who has been there since 1955. Ernie was also there and talked about this history of the shop, which was cool to hear. Zach did an amazing job and I immediately regretted all the times I've gotten my haircut at Supercuts. I was disappointed with this barbershop after reading all the great reviews on here and let me explain why. I went to Ernie's in the afternoon to get a haircut before going back to school and it was pretty empty when I came in. Only 2 people getting a haircut and I didn't have to wait long for one of the barbers to finish. I let Ernie (old guy) cut my hair and I asked for a fade. He said sure and asked how I wanted it so I said a low fade but he looked confused when I said that. Then, he asked how I want it at the top so I said a 3 and he smiled which kind of seemed rude. So I asked what do you recommend and Ernie didn't bother answering. I ignored the attitude hoping he'll do what I asked, but I was dead wrong. He didn't bother cutting the top of my hair, individual long hairs were sticking out of my sides, and messed up one of my sideburns. I didn't bother asking for a touch up to spare my hair from getting more ****** up. So I paid the man 17 which is kind of high for a haircut plus tip just to be nice and left with the fakest smile ever. I couldn't help but think he did this to my hair on purpose because he didn't bother talking to me while he was cutting my hair while the other barber Zach was interactive with his clients. Also, Ernie didn't look like he wanted to cut my hair. Long story short, I should have had Zach cut my hair, but I'm not returning to this establishment ever again. read more
