Service was awful! We asked for a wine list 4 Times, finally my husband went to the hostess stand and get one. We ordered wine and had finished dinner and still had no wine. The food was excellent, unfortunately the service was less than desired. I know restaurants are short staffed but they were not short staffed last night. Our waiter was just that awful. No hustle & not a care. He was absent most the time doing who knows what. One of the waitresses felt bad for us & tried to take our drink order but I think the waiter got mad & she backed off. As we were finishing our meal, one of the bus boys started cleaning off the table next to us & put the dirty dishes on our table while he continued to stack dishes on top of them. Ummm...excuse me! I am skeptical of restaurants in the midwest (I'd tell you why but it would traumatize you). However, I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Ernie's with a friend of mine. The food was great and our waitress was wonderful. She had an answer for every question we asked her, and was just very pleasant. I found the food to be great (I'm from New York so I can be hard to please) which was quite pleasantly surprising. I was not a fan of the space itself. It seems like alot of wasted space and that they could do so much more with it. It's hard to get a feel for what kind of establishment they want to be. I couldn't believe the horrible service we received here. Asked for a drink, never got it. Asked for no cheese on the hamburger, came with cheese. I ordered the chicken kebob which I have had previously. The first time the tzatziki sauce was delicious. This time it was clearly spoiled. I alerted our server and asked that she let the kitchen know. My husband ordered one of the fish specials and it said it came with a side but no sides were listed on any menu. We asked our server what the sides were to choose from. She listed many and my husband settled on onion rings. But when our bill came they charged us for the onion rings. When we inquired why why she said they were an up charge item. Never at any point did she mention that when she listed all of the sides. My husband would not have ordered the onion rings if he knew they were not included with the meal as stated. Our server did nothing to rectify the situation, so I asked for the manager. I told him about the spoiled tzatziki and about not being told that onion rings were not an included side. All he did was apologize and said he would make it right next time. Everything I've tried at Ernies has been consistently excellent. Often I go to a restaurant and the entree will be good but one or more of the sides will be just okay. Ernies is just great across the board. They also have a nice amount of space between tables and a feeling of intimacy or privacy for lack of better words. They also have a nice bar in contrast with friendly and quick bartenders. I recommend this place 100% for any occasion. read more

My most recent experience entailed a dead fly in the food. However, my experience did not entail an apology from management. How do you think this review is going to go? Unfortunately, the "incident" occurred at the start of the meal. It really ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even enjoy my whiskey as I used it as a makeshift antiseptic mouthwash. Pre-incident, I would rate Ernie's as average. Now I am totally turned off. I would be a bit more forgiving if only the management staff made some attempt to make things better, but they didn't really even try. As a result, I will not be patronizing them in near future. BTW (and this part does not have any effect on the rating) - I do find it comical that a few of the other reviews refer to Ernie's as being a hangout for cougars. I had my wedding reception in the Master Hall, which was amazing. The ambient light on the ceiling and wood work on the bar was immaculate, it really set the mood for our reception. The food selection was superb, we were given a variety of dishes to choose from for our guests - none of them were the "usual" expected catering dishes. The food wow-ed our guests and a year later they are still talking about how great the herbed potatoes in butter were! I wish I could have eaten more that day, but I was just too busy!!! They also made food specifically for the children, which I appreciated very much. My work also uses Ernie's catering for our events and parties, everyone in the office raves about how good it is and actually looks forward to the next event with their catering! They come to our office and set it up, and provide white-jacket service to host the buffet table. I went back to try out their Mediterranean room and the bar, this place has such a great atmosphere and you definitely get what you pay for. Sometimes you can rack up a nice bill, but it is also possible to eat well without spending a fortune here. They have a nice food and alcoholic beverage selection as well. Looking for Milfs or Cougars? Well this is the place you want to be. This seems to be the singles bar for wealthy thirtysomethings. Just because you are not a thirtysomething or wealty doesn't mean that you wont find someone special for the night.... trust me... uh... my friends have told me.. The decor is nice for a large open atmosphere. It is not quite a club and not quite a bar, it is a bit in between with a restaurant attached (like many places in the area). They have live music and dance floors sometimes, other times it is like being at a martini bar. Though I am not a big fan of this place, many of my friends are huge fans. I liken it to a Jack's on the Water, but not on the water or as fun... But I do have to say, this place definitely reminds me of Michigan. read more

Six of us went for the Mothers Day buffet and were neither impressed nor significantly disappointed. The selection of the buffet seemed to have gown down slightly from previous years but what they did have tasted pretty good. The mimosas were awful, 95% orange juice with tons of pulp. The cod and grape leaves were fantastic, and the chicken was fine but slightly dry. There were what seemed like a million desserts to choose from but again they all rated about a 3. As far as service went the waitress was fine but not friendly in any way. The bussing staff was amazing and would take your plate away almost as soon as you set your fork down. All in all we will probably give this place another shot next year but hope they expand their selection and quality! read more

One of the best things about Ernies: their complimentary, homemade pita bread, served with roasted garlic, EVOO, olives and radishes. Outstanding! Their prime rib is amazing and their thin crust pizzette was very tasty. I also enjoy their Mediterranean salad. On Valentine's Day 2010 my husband and I shared a lobster dinner to die for. Unfortunately, there are not an abundance of entrees that pique my interest so I usually order the same thing. Ernie's bar area is well known as a cougar pick-up spot. My husband and I have finished our evening by having a drink in the bar on a couple of occasions. Jay( floor manager) was more than accommodating setting everything up, the staff was great and there was not one complaint from any of my guests about the food. Ernie's King's Mill should be renamed as "Cougar Mill" because you will find a lot of them here. I had been here a few times over the years and it's a spot that I hit up only if I do not feel like driving a lot and want something between mellow and minimalistic rowdy. The bar: The bar is average and the drinks are watered down. The only thing that I can say I love is the outdoor seating which is lovely in the summer time. The dancefloor/dj: The music is top 40. I do wish they did switch up sometimes and it makes me want to "evacuate the dance floor". The dance floor is relatively small and full of guys just staring at women and wishing they had grown a pair and could actually go dance with a few of the cougars. The crowd: Definitely a lot of early 30s and 40s crowd and then the young cubs looking for their future cougar. overall: it's definitely not a spot that would be termed "Hott" but I guess you could give this place a shot may be once a year and hope to be find a cougar mama or a cub. I was with a group of 30+ people and we were crammed in 1/2 the dining room like sardines. The seating was so uncomfortable my wife and I had leg cramps all night. Looking at the menu I asked if they could substitute a red sauce for the alfredo sauce on the seafood linguine and was told that no substitutions were allowed so I ordered something else. I really wanted the linguine but am lactose intolerant so that was the end of that. The server was quick, efficient, and gave excellent service. Though I'm not a huge fan of most of the food on the menu, I will never pass up the fresh baked pita bread and feta cheese. We had to re-schedule the date 3 times because of COVID, but they didn't let us down. COVID protocols taken, masks, spacing, sanitization. I've been to Ernie's a number of times in the past few years. My experience has never been bad...but never been stellar either. The bread that comes out before dinner is great. It is warm, has some salt on the top and has a sort of yeasty breadiness that is appealing. They serve it with a small tray of radishes, roasted garlic and olives. Nice start to the meal. The entrees are decent to good. I've not had a great meal. The desserts are similarly acceptable. The service is always competent. I guess my issue with Ernie's is that they have a price point higher than I find competent and decent to be acceptable. read more

The place was not busy we waited in line at least 5 minutes to be seated, and than another 20 minutes at the table after leaving because no one came to the table to take our drink order . The entrées were outstanding, the pasta and potatoes were perfect, even the salads and vegetable were complimented over and over. I wish I knew how to prepare brussels sprouts like that! Ernie's Mediterranean Room first of all needs to change it's name or remove Mediterranean room because it probably gives people the impression that it's mostly or all Mediterranean cuisine, which would be the furthest thing from the truth. The wife and I tried Ernie's for the first time last week, after 6 years of only living a mile away and it was AMAZING . She had the lemon zest chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables. She said that the dish was well seasoned and delicious. I had the chicken blt sandwich with potato wedges and it was great. The atmosphere and service is also very friendly. In fact it was so good that we figured that we would take our son and his girlfriend today and it wasn't a fluke from the first visit the food was just as good if not better. This time the wife had lamb chops, my son had shrimp scampi, his girl friend had the lemon zest chicken, and I had to try the pizza. OMG EVERYTHING WAS OUTSTANDING. The portion size was so big that we all were able to try one another's dish and I have to say right here right now that Ernie's is about to have a few more regular customers. Service today was horrible. Jennifer told us she was the manager and was complaining about being short staffed and none of her staff knew how to do anything. Complained she had to make a cappuccino for someone, a chef got fired. Even complained that the owners family was there and pointed them out to us and that she had to do everything a special way. I'm not a big fan of their food. I came here for a birthday/going away party for a friend. It was packed for a Saturday night. The waitress was friendly but took her time coming back to our table to refill drinks and take orders. I ordered the lamb shank and was not impressed. I know lamb has a slight gamey taste, but this lamb shank was so gamey and musty that I couldn't finish it. My friend didn't finish her food also. My husband and I were in the mood for and adventure. He had heard about Ernie's so we gave it a go. Simply wonderful! I have an allergy to gluten. When I ask the waiter he said everything was made from scratch and could be made gluten free. We didn't have the seafood, but we were told it is fresh, never frozen. I know I was impressed. My lamb shank was fantastic. The olives, and rotated garlic were a lovely treat. My husband said the bread was great. Mark our waiter was knowledgeable, charming, and attentive. I recently came here for my friend's wedding. The place looked nice and was easy to find. But holy crap was the service awful. My friends were told that the food would be out for three hours. The food came out late at around 7:45 (wedding was from 7-12) and they tore everything down by 9:20. Simple math tells me that that is nowhere near three hours. The worst part...they room everything down before the GROOM got to eat. When the planner politely complained, they begrudgingly brought individual plates out for him. There were two staff members that seemed like they wanted to be anywhere else but there. And one of those two was straight up mean. We got dirty looks and I still can't figure out why. The bar, which was supposed to remain open until 12, was stripped down almost completely several hours before. They kept a couple of bottles out, but from across the room, it looked totally shut down so many people didn't go up. I've never been here before, but needless to say...I won't ever be back. read more

Menu items sound good, then you get them and your like what the heck. For the prices they charge go to any chain restaurant and you'll do much better. I have been here on several occasions, mostly for Bridal Shower type events. Those have been handled very well and the food was amazing. The staff were very helpful and made sure everything was set up correctly for us. Many servers were circulating to make sure the guests had enough to drink, the correct drink, etc. They even quietly changed a table place settings when there was a small SNAFU with the hostesses communication! The food at these functions is always a typical: order from a select menu deal. So I'm not sure how vast their menu is. However everything was done nicely and they accommodated my food allergy without any fuss. Most recently I went there for drinks & appetizers. I really enjoyed the Kalamari and spinach pies they serve. And I ordered the cucumber martini because you don't see that very often. I expected it to taste like veggies but it was actually very refreshing and tasty. Not overpowering with the cuke flavor, but enough to temper the rest of the booze. Just had luch the other day in their re-modeled restaurant the Mediterranean room. The service was the best I have ever witnessed. Did not once have to ask for anything, all was taken care of by a perfectly trained wait staff. The specialty is Greek cuisine and I can honestly say it's about time we have a upscale Greek restaurant in the metro detroit area. Enough of the coney island set ups. The food is lavishly presented and all salads are prepared in the dinning area. The food I would say is good. No more or less. I was impressed by how pretty it was inside. Unfortunately, that's pretty much the only thing about this place that impressed me. The dinner rolls were super, but the grilled chicken in my salad was clearly from Gordon Food Service - the pop was flat, the coffee cups were dirty, and the wait staff was practically non-existant. We were among about twenty guests at a dinner party celebrating a 90th birthday. Our server was"right there" to make sure any of the guests who wanted a beverage before dinner had it. Our piping hot meals were served in a very timely manner. They were very good and the ambiance of the "private" banquet room was pleasing and the right size for our group. read more

Pleasant surprise. The lemon rice soup was very fresh and excellent. I had the chicken oreganato and it was fresh and tasty. The lemon potatoes were outstanding! Great food and nice atmosphere. The service was very prompt and staff is very friendly. If you want to eat like royalty this is the place to go. The food is fresh, healthy and loaded with flavor. From the outside it looks more like a regular bar and grill but this is more of a fine dining place. They do have a bar with a separate bar menu but we haven't gone into that part.
