Horrible, anything that could go wrong has gone wrong. First of all I installed my system in October 2020. I have dealt with multiple roof leaks due to a rush install job that even the city of Syracuse would not approve. I have had two faulty inverters and most recently 8 panels defective of my 24 panels that I found was having an issue of not producing power since February ( today it's October) and they said they monitored my system. Each time there's been a problem, I was the one that has brought it to their attention. I strongly suggest anybody to feel free and reach out to me and I have so much more I can share. The latest with the faulty panels, 16 working panels out of 24, their customer service contact (name withheld )told me that even though I had eight nonfunctional panels, that I was still within their policy regarding performance. How is that possible when I only had 66% of my potential power being harnessed from the sun when I could've capitalized 33% more and got what I was financed in paying for.? What are these people thinking,? They're expecting me to be happy with a partially working system that when it was finally remedied, eight months later, their own technician stated that it was a bad installation by their own people. I do intend to take all of the information, including all of the email correspondence, and all of the problems that I've had with this company and take that to an attorney. There are better companies out there that care about their people. Do not use ES solar. read more

What a nightmare! They came and installed a battery back in January. I got an email saying a city inspector would be by to inspect. I took the day off work to be there and the inspector never showed. Turns out they just sent him pics and he approved it. Seems I was sent a second email later saying I didnt actuall have to be there for the inspection. Ok my bad. A week later I got an email saying someone was supposed to come commsion the battery........I took the day off work again, for another no show. He showed up two days later, spent 5 minutes fiddling around and claimed " Yeah, this battery is no good. Someone will reach out to warranty it in a few days" and left. No one reached. No one responded to follwing two emails, and the three times I called I kept getting told some would reach out in 3-5 days. upon the third time hearing that, I asked for supervisor, because I had been told this before. The response: "Sir, a specialist will reach out in 3-5 days" *click Again, for the third time, no one reached out in 3-5 days. I called up the city inspector who approved it. He came out to actually look at the issues I had (uncovered boxes with exposed wires, and improperly attache strain relief) and agreed they were not up to par. He said he would reach out to them on my behalf. Again, I still didnt hear anything back. 7 weeks go by. They finally come out to swap defective battery. (Still did not remedy the inspection deficiencies.) Now, I've been getting power bills since Jan. (the first significant bills we have recieved since installing the panels 8 years ago). I cant monitor the battery. EsSolar swapped out my inverter. But, now they claim they can not monitor that inverter unless I give them control of my panels as well. The solar panel company claims they cant monitor because they didnt install the inverter. Its been almost 6 months now. I have a battery. I have solar panels. I also have $200 power bills and no answers from this company. Stay away. read more

I am having problems again and can't get customer service to call me back! They spoke to me once but now that they know I am having problems they won't return my phone calls! We bought a home with solar panels on the roof. We noticed a dramatic drop off in the amount of electricity produced by the system this spring (spring of 2024). We called Solar Edge. We were told they are getting no system errors on their software so as far as they are concerned everything is working fine. I asked to speak to the supervisor who said the same thing and said that without an error message they could do nothing otherwise the manufacturer warranty would become void. I called the manufacturer - Solar Edge - and was told that unless I was the installer on a job site, they could not help me - that I need to work with the installer. (Sounds a lot like dealing with hospitals and health insurance companies!) I was able to use the Solar Edge automated diagnostic system which gave me the following message: "The power optimizers attached to your PV modules are not paired. Please contact your installer to assist you with power optimizer pairing" I called ES Solar again and was told that in order for them to do the pairing I had to pay about $500 to join their membership and then $200/year before they would come fix the problem. That means the privilege of having them fix the system they installed will cost me about what I should be saving in electrical costs. WHAT A SCAM!!!!They installed the system in May of 2020. It is now June2024. The $40,000 system is not working. They have me with a gun to my head. I either pay the $500 upfront fee +$200 per year for them to "monitor the system" PLUS electrician fees if they have to send someone out - or I have worthless solar panels on my roof. read more

As a military officer, I had one firm and fast rule -- Don't ever lie to me. Know your facts and give them to me straight. Dustin came to my door to sell me on his solar company. Assuming I was less informed than him, he began quoting numbers. He said I paid 13.5 cents per kwh, which I KNEW right then and there was high. I commented, but he insisted I paid 13.5, and he was well studied on the matter. Well, he should be well studied on the matter, so I can only deduce that he purposely lied to my face despite my comment to the contrary. My bill shows that I pay 8.8 c/kwh for the first 1000kwh and 10.3 for anything over that. Likely, everyone in my neighborhood pays at this standard rate and Dustin, or anyone in solar sales, should KNOW this COLD. My total bill, with taxes and fees, is less than 10.6 c/kwh. He continued by saying that electrical rates historically double every 10 years. I said "wow" and kinda stepped back, showing my disbelief. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, average Idaho "residential electricity prices" went from 8.57 c/kwh in 2003 to 11.24 in 2013. While 10 years old, these numbers show a rise of 31 percent over that decade, not even close to doubling. Any endeavor that begins with a lie, is doomed to failure. I wouldn't deal with Dustin, or his company, until they were the last source on earth. And then, only with the greatest of caution. read more

TLDR: I'm satisfied with ES's work and the contract through initial install was a good experience. I am annoyed I lost at least a month of summer solar generation due in large part to their lack of communication once initial install was complete. I do recommend ES Solar for your project because the prices are fair and they have good terms and installers, and when they did communicate they were clear and thorough. The initial sale, contract, and installation went smoothly and was straightforward, and followed the timeline they specified, which was a bit long but acceptable given current supply chain issues and local government permitting (signed contract on 2/25/22, solar panels installed on my house 5/12/22). The installers were professional, efficient, and on time. The panels look nice and it appears they did a good job. I was happy with this part of the process, and expected the system would be turned on in the next month. HOWEVER once the solar panels were on my roof, it took over 2 more months before the system was turned on (7/19/22), and I consider this lag to be 80% ES's fault and 20% local inspector's fault. The local inspector failed my inspection the first time, and neither he nor ES told me why - if they had, I could have shown them I did have grounding already. ES wasn't proactive about getting this resolved, I had to ask for updates and appointments. It seemed like since they already got the bulk of the payment for installing, they weren't in a rush to actually make it functional for me. Finally passed the local inspection and the electrical net meter was installed - but ES never told me it was OK to turn on the system as soon as the net meter was installed, I thought I had to wait for the commissioning appointment. So I lost another 10 days of possible solar production. read more

Absolutely scammed by this company. We signed an agreement to pursue a solar addition and battery with them that they promised could produce 3300kwh annually (I may get the exact data wrong because I don't understand how it works). Then we started working with them to approve a design. They wanted to add solar panels to our north facing roof, the worst spot on our roof. The plans came back estimating less than half of what we were promised in energy production. As we were going back and forth with them on our options to bring the design to what we were promised, we got an email saying that our design had been approved for the permits. How could they, since we didn't have a plan finalized yet? I did some research and realized that they iberter in our plan didn't match the battery and would potentially cause our system to not perform as well, AND that the whole system wouldn't qualify for the rebates they promised us because the inverter didn't meet the right standards, which were recently updated. So we were starting to get the ick and emailed them to let them know we appreciated their help but that we couldn't agree on a plan that met what we were promised. Now they are trying to charge us over $1k for a cancellation fee. They claim we only had three days to decide to cancel before we became liable for fees because in section 22 of the contract there is wording regarding that. So I read the contract and the Utah state codes referenced. They are supposed to verbally make you aware of the cancellation fees (which the salesman didn't) and according to state code it HAS to be on the FIRST page IN BOLD on the contract,(not buried in the fine print). The code also states that the cancellation period had to be at least three days after purchase (we never gave them money, so we didn't purchase anything) or after the delivery of goods, whichever comes LATER. So they are trying to pull illegal crap on us to get over $1K from us and think they can get away with it because they assume no one reads the code. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and letting the proper government entities know that they are not following the Utah State Code and fleecing people for money illegally. read more

We had the battery installed with an existing system. The day they completed the install, 15 of our 23 panels ceased to function. They refuse to come inspect the install and are giving us the total run around. Totally unimpressed with their lack of customer service and support. Buyer beware! read more

Only thing that happened after install was my battery software update didn't push through and an actual Tech from the battery manufacturer had to come out To fix it, it took longer than I hoped which was 3-4 weeks to get it back and going, my solar system Was and producing for that time but I had an outage while I was waiting for the sonnen tech and that 1 outage it didn't go to back up. Since then I've had an outage after the sonnen tech came out and the 8 breakers that are backed up worked just as advertised! glad they serviced my account after install and didn't forget about me just wish the sonnen tech was faster at coming out. read more

I waited 5 years to post this review. First off, we were blatantly lied to at every step of the sales/implementation process. Our primary reason for purchasing this 50k plus system was to have power in case of a power outage. We were assured by everyone that wouldn't be a problem and that's why many people purchase solar. Only to realize the system doesn't work without internet. if that wasn't bad enough, our system fails at least 3 times a year, many times going a month or longer because we are not notified. Our inverter goes out every summer so we're not producing solar for at least a month during the best generating time of the year. And l am not even going to get into their customer service. We have essentially thrown away 50k and appear to have zero recourse. We're actually contemplating a lawsuit as this has been such a horrendous experience. read more

I was very skeptical about getting solar in the beginning, but Jake came and gave us all the deets in a way that's easy to understand. It used to be difficult to justify getting solar, but with the tax credits and loans available, it now makes sense. From the beginning to the end, we got frequent updates, got all our questions answered, and had everything happen in the exact way they promised. Afterwards, Colby came and visited us and taught us about our loan, monitoring the system, and making sure everything was ready. This was a great experience for a big change in our home! read more

Unfortunately, while my experience with this company were initially good when I was waiting to get solar installed, it is now a nightmare. That early process and the install were at best, adequate. Other solar companies would have provided that same level of care maybe even more. My nightmare is the loan. We failed to change the loan to another lender at a lower rate before install. This is a failure on my part as much as this company's. However, I called my salesperson and ask how we could remedy this and if it was possible. I was told that it would be 'quite easy' they would cancel the loan with the current lender and get me on another one. Everything seemed fine at first as I qualified on the new lender right away. The problems seem to come from the accounting team. They either cannot or will not send the money to the first lender to cancel the loan. I was told it would take a couple of weeks. After a few weeks told the salesperson again I haven't heard anything. I was assured that they were going to fix it. This pattern has continued for over 2 months with increasing communication between myself and the salesperson with more assurances and promises of resolution. There is no resolution in sight and no communication from those who would actually be able to resolve this. I also took a larger loan to pay a contractor to finish the basement in my home. As I have not yet received that money, for good reason, it is needed to get sent back to the first lender to cancel my loan. While I was waiting for resolution, I lost my contractor, I was unable to pay them and they moved on, which means I now have to find a new contractor once I receive the money. The first payment is due on 06/03/2023. I have a product I cannot use, because I wont allow it to be turned on until the loan is resolved. I have a large loan with a equally reflective interest rate that based on my aforementioned pattern of behavior from this company means I am stuck with it. They are either unable, or worse unwillingly to actually keep their word and resolve this issue as I have been promised and reassured many time over the last 2.5 months. I would suggest moving on. Find another company that actually can and will resolve these issues beforehand and do their due diligence in delivering the best loan option at the lowest rate. TLDR; Find another company they are utterly inadequate and not up to the task of getting the financing worked out. read more

At this point my wife and I would never recommend ES Solar to any potential customers. We had our panels installed back in October, then due a supply chain issue, our battery was not installed until late November. I don't fault ES Solar for this. However ES Solar uses a 3rd party for battery installation. The battery installer told me there is a firmware issue with all new LG batteries and I would need to contact ES Solar to find out when they are able to come out and update the battery. I called several times in the month of December and into January. In late January, I was finally told there is no issue with the battery or if it does need an update when our commissioning tech comes out, they will be able to just update it. We were able to set a Tuesday 01/25 appointment for our commissioning. Our commissioning tech was on time, polite, and started his inspection of our system. We were told that a ground wire to a group of our panels wasn't working so only half of the panels will function. Also, our inverter is broken and not allowing the battery to charge. Our tech said he would send in a priority report to help bump up a service call. He said that we would hear from an installation tech within three business days. When that didn't happen I reached out to ES Solar. I was told that they could see that this had been bumped up to a priority call and that they would call me back later that day with a date and time for the installer to fix our system. Again, no one returned my call so I called again today. I was told their service department has over 350 service tickets that have been unanswered. They said they would now bump my status up to critical and offered to call the installation department to set up a date and time for me. I did think that was great but wondered why this wasn't done on my first call. However after a brief hold, they came back on the line to let me know their service department would not take their call. I have now been told if someone does not call me by the end of the week to call the customer service department back and they will try the installation department again. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. Of the more than a dozen times I have contacted ES Solar and told I would receive a follow-up call, I have only received one. On top of that, we have a solar system that does not operate at more than 50% and a battery that is non-functioning as well. We have no idea when these issues will be taken care and yet we have paid ES Solar in full. I'll be sure to update this post when and if we finally have a fully functioning system. At this point, if you have any issues with your install or components of your system, be prepared for a beyond frustrating experience trying to get anything resolved with them. read more

We had Matt Jackson come out a few months back and provide a bid for solar panels for our home. Out of several companies we had out, I felt the utmost confidence with the information and knowledge Matt presented. His price was reasonable and he was the only one who walked around the home and identified that our existing panel was out of date for solar. We were able to add the upgrade into our contract and not have to pay out of pocket a couple thousand to get the services where they needed to be! I have already recommended ES Solar to several of my family and neighbors and most have also found the company to be the most competent from start to finish as well. Shout out to Bryce Casey 5 stars to him for getting us on board with ES Solar. I'll update the review after we've had the panels for a few months. 4 month update: I can't even begin to explain how much I regret this decision!! Among many smaller annoyances the biggest complaint I have is that ES Solar has damaged my roof and possibility caused water, mold and mildew damage to my house. During the installation the technicians had to divert a plumbing vent under the panels and out the side of the array. When they did this it caused a leak in my roof that leaks water all the way down into my basement. Water has been leaking into my attic and walls for months! Thank God I have an unfinished basement otherwise I might not have noticed the leak for years, causing untold amounts of water, mold and mildew damage. Since the installation ES Solar has sent the same technicians TWICE to "fix it" AND IT'S STILL LEAKING!!!! read more

DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE GOING WITH THIS COMPANY! We've been wanting to get solar for a while now but just had done the homework. Jason with ES Solar shows up at our house, so we were pretty excited. We had to make a call to Rocky Mtn to get our power history. Ok, makes sense for a quote. We have to call the solar guys to get more info. Ok, makes sense. Suddenly we're on the phone with financial people to get pre-approved. Ok, are we doing this? "It's ok", Jason says. "We're getting the special interest rate locked down but installation won't happen until the end of the year". Ok, we're ok with this because we aren't locked in.. few months down the line getting ready to install, I'm talking to my brother about how excited we are about solar and he was flabbergasted at our cost and asked to see our quote (he sells solar outside of Utah). We found multiple things that we were told that was either flat out not true, or a complete stretch. I got a quote from THREE other companies - Blue Raven, LGCY Solar and Solar Works - and ES Solar was nearly double the price of every other company. What's funny is that these other 3 companies sounded nearly the same and complete opposite of what Jason told us. They all said that doing a battery was not efficient at this time and should wait at least another 2-5 years (time to wait differed a little with the sales rep) We were told ES Solar uses "the best of the best", "top of the line". The other sales rep hadn't even heard of the brand ES Solar quoted us for. Best solar panels across the board are LG, SunRun, Rec, etc.... OTHER COMPANIES USE THESE BRANDS AND ARE CHEAPER. They are top-rated. Not what ES Solar uses. Jason told us that the inverters used are the type that if one goes out, only that panel goes out, not the whole system, WRONG. We were quoted for String Inverters, where the whole system goes out. We were quite upset that what we were promised is not what is being delivered so we wanted to cancel. EVERY OTHER COMPANY said we should be able to cancel before installation and people do it all of the time. We talked to Jason and found out there is a cancelation fee but he didn't know how much it would because he'd never had anyone cancel before. We were just given a $4300 cancelation bill. My husband called Jason, told him that he knew what he said to us and this wasn't honest, Jason said "he'd talk to someone" but it's been 2 days and we still haven't heard back. I called Jason's manager, he won't answer my calls and hasn't answered a text messaged. I called ES Solar and she said that Jason and Colby are the ones who make up the fees and there is nothing she can do about it (Shay, by the way, is very friendly and kind). The customer service is there during the signup process but as literally everyone else has said, when something goes wrong it's impossible to get ahold of anyone. It's takes weeks to get an email back. Days (if at all) for a reply to calls and texts. I'm glad to get out from this company while I still can. Again, it would be one thing if we just changed our mind and wanted to back out but I don't trust anything that anyone from this company says. Get at least 3 other quotes because I can't imagine anyone wanting to go with this company. read more

DO NOT use this company for your solar needs. If I could give zero stars I would. Our garage siding was damaged by the solar install and ES Solar has done nothing to fix the problem even though they have told us over and over again they will get it fixed. Two years later nothing has come of it. ES Solar created an area by the foundation of our house where water pools and just remains there until it evaporates, this is going to ruin the foundation of our house and again ES Solar said they would fix it but after two years nothing has happened yet. ES Solar had the roofing company replace the side of our roof that was in good condition and did not need replacing, meanwhile we still need to replace the bad sod of our roof. The roofing company was told by my wife and I to replace the east side of our house but ES Solar intervened and told them to replace the west side of our roof even though we did not have solar installed on the roof of our house, it was installed on our garage. The power wires that go from our panels to our house are a large entangled mess that dangles dangerously down to the ground and are a major eye sore. ES Solar told us they would fix that and again it has been almost two years and nothing has been done. We wanted to purchase a battery with our solar panels but the sales person told us ES Solar does not sell batteries yet during the install we spoke with the installers about a battery and they told us ES Solar does sell and install batteries but they couldn't do it for us because it was not on the work order. Our next step is getting a power of Attorney. This company sucks badly. Do not get Solar through them. They are friendly to your face but completely ignore you if a problem arises from the work they have done. All the good reviews from here are very likely because problems didn't crop up during installation, ES Solar ignores the problems they create. The photo of the wires I ended up rolling up myself but it's pretty pretty lame they left it this way. After almost two years our solar panels do not keep up with the energy of our home and we still have a significant monthly power bill even though we were told it should cover almost all of our energy needs. The dumbest part about that is after installing they tell you it can take up to a year of solar use to properly tell if the panels were enough for our energy needs. They were not. We were told of some reimbursement program if this happens but as difficult as it has been just to get ES Solar to fix the issues we have already had with them. We are tired of jumping through all their hoops that are ignited on fire just to get personnel to ever so briefly talk with us about our concerns only to get ignored again after a 3 minute conversation where they tell us they will resolve this issue, that we will tackle the lack of power generation with our attorney. I don't even trust that ES Solar installed, at the time, the best solar panels they had to offer (which is what we paid for) the 360 or 370 panels. DO NOT USE ES SOLAR. read more

Worst company ever !! Contract under Christian Neil started on October 2021, today is June 20th, 2022. Inverter breaker kept on tripping, I called and a technician showed up to run a test. Needless to say, something is wrong with the inverter, but not too wrong because still works up to a certain degree, so they refused to fix it. Now i have to keep on resetting the inverter every 48 hrs until i hire someone else to fix the issue. You have no idea how frustrating that is that after charging almost $50,000 for the whole system they put cheap parts and they dont want to be accountable for.. please learn from my mistakes, do NOT go into business with that company read more

Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with Energy Solutions Solar or ( es solar ) I shopped all the big names and got several quotes. I joined a business network group and met Chris Looke and Jeff Diamond the owners of ES Solar and they answered all of my questions about solar and sent out their sales team to give me a quote which shocked me to say the least. The cost was 26% lower than any quote I received!!! I was blown away I went forward with it after paying $300.00 power bills this summer and Rocky mtn rates going up again next year! I have been thrilled the process was easy the installation was quick and flawless and the owners took an interest to make sure we were happy!
