The owner of Just Right* went out again to look at my furnace as offered. Got more clarification about the condition of my furnace and information about the warranty for my heat exchanger so that I could make a better informed decision moving forward. Updating 3 stars from 1 star. I don't think I'll use them again based on my experience the first time around however, they did make an effort to resolve the issue. Maybe you might use them. Thanks. Do not seem to stand by their work and more expensive than other competitors. Had an air conditioner and heating unit installed in 2020. Less then two years later, we wanted to convert our basement into an apartment. When they installed the PVC return piping, they did it in a way to where it hung way below ceiling height, and even under the air ducks, so it only gave us a little bit over 6 foot of headroom. we had a few quotes come out and they were shocked at this type of installation and said it should've been routed along the side of the air duct and not hanging so low below it. Also, our vertical return air duck was not installed straight at all, it had about a 15° bow in it, that was also heavily criticized by other heating and air conditioning companies who quoted the repairs. With all this said, I gave them a chance to come out and correct it, realizing it was a bit of a time lapse since the installation up to now, but I thought they would at least give me a good price on rerouting everything. They ended up not returning my call and I had a call back then they called and didn't leave a message and I had no idea who they were because they didn't have a caller ID with their company name. Then after I sent them pictures and they evaluated it, they gave me a ridiculous quote to fix everything. It ended up being $1000 more than all the other quotes that I received from other reputable companies. When addressed, they didn't offer any explanation of the additional costs. I guess it was worth it to them to lose a customer for life who has a pretty big Netwerk in the area. Remember, Word of mouth and your businesses reputation is worth a lot more than $1000 over price profit. I felt like they didn't want to correct their shotty work to begin with so they over priced it so they didn't have to deal with it. read more

Technician told us we needed major repairs, $3800 worth. Second opinion showed that the "heat exchanger crack" that was such a big deal, is a common failure with my furnace and that the heat exchanger isn't actually cracked but it's the piece that's rolled around the edge of the exchanger. We were told by the Just Right technician that our furnace was being CONDEMNED and he would not turn it back on. He argued with my wife about us turning the furnace back on. Which, I understand why the company would tell them not to turn it back on (CO2 poisoning) but, there really wasn't anything wrong with our furnace and it was 30 degrees outside. Very, very unprofessional technician. DO NOT TRUST JUST RIGHT, please get a second and third opinion before getting anything repaired or replaced. Sorry, we've used Just Right in the past, several times, and have been very happy with the work they do, this may have been a one off with this particular technician. Maybe he needs some customer centricity training and remedial training for diagnostics. Also, this company was great at one time, when it was smaller, it's grown a lot and with that growth the company has declined and can't be trusted. Just my opinion, I'm sure others are very happy. One good thing, they did not charge us for the visit. read more

I called HVAC Utah on Monday morning at 8:30 am and they were able to send someone out about 15 minutes later. Dustin arrived promptly and was able to help us figure out why our heater kept running for a few minutes, turning off, and then running for only a few minutes again. Turns out the suction levels were way out of whack (supposed to be .5, they were at 1.8) and causing problems for the furnace, which is something another rep from another company missed when they looked at our unit in the summer. Dustin was able to adjust the levels and solve our problem. Now the heater is running like it should! Thank you! read more

Had a competitor of Black Diamond come out to do a tune up, and I was taken advantage of. They charged me $650 for work that wasn't done and then told me my ac system was bad. Tried sending a salesman out to sell me a new ac unit and furnace. Black Diamond came out and in 10 minutes had my system up and running. Will use them again, would recommend them to anyone. They deserve 6 stars. read more

My daughter and I love the home we bought in Layton, but it came with some real issues in the heating/ac department. We first met HVAC Utah last summer when the ac died and they treated us like their favorite clients! They've solved every problem quickly, fairly and perfectly and having the service agreement is a great way to head off any problems before they happen. I called the in morning. I was told the technician would be out to my house between 5 and 7 pm, and that they would call prior. Around 3pm (luckily I left work early and was home) they showed up, with no phone call prior. They were in my house about 8 minutes, and charged 69.00 for the door not being shut completely, which was the issue as to why the furnace would not blow air. I learned a huge lesson not to be so rushed into thinking something is wrong, however, really?? You are really going to charge the 69.00 fee to "diagnose" the issue when you are running a special for a 16 point tune up for 39.00? The company is less than 1.5 miles away from my house. So, no thanks. I'll never call this company again. read more

Great service and fair pricing. Dustin was great...came out to troubleshoot our fireplace due to a gas smell and at the recommendation of the gas company. He replaced the main valve within a couple of days. Easy scheduling. Everyone was professional and friendly. read more

Not too impressed with this company. I got involved in helping a family out that has hit hard times and their furnace was not running. They had this company out to repair it and they had them purchase a part with all their savings and it did not take care of the issue and Black Diamond told them they did not know what was wrong and still charged them for the part and service call. Was not anything to do with the part they replaced so probably did not need to be replaced. read more

My AC failed late in the afternoon. I suspected the problem was simply a failed motor start/run capacitor, but being after 5pm, I was not able to get the part. My wife insisted I call someone who could come that evening. HVAC Utah was the only one who could get us in the same day. They gave us a time frame and arrived on time. The technician was courteous and presented himself as very professional. I had the covers off the AC before he arrived. He quickly confirmed the problem was as I suspected, a bad capacitor. Before installing the part, he informed me the price would be $387.50 to plug in a new capacitor. The service call was $103.50, so this meant he was going to charge me $284.00 to plug in a $20 capacitor, which would take him exactly 1 minute to do. I asked if he could negotiate the price to something reasonable, but he insisted he could not do that. I was not desperate enough to be gouged that badly, so I paid the service call and sent him on his way. read more
