    Sides for the tea
    Nikkomae S.

I took my cousin here on July 19th for her birthday. I wanted to do something different for her, so I booked the afternoon tea at the Four Seasons Hotel in East Palo Alto. It cost $75 per person to dine here for their afternoon tea which isn't too bad I think. We got there on time with our cute little dresses on, of course. I wanted to do something different for her, so I booked the afternoon tea at the Four Seasons Hotel in East Palo Alto. So this cafe is right by their lobby. Once you enter the hotel, it is to the right, and someone was waiting for us immediately to sit us down, I'm assuming, because of our reservation. Of course, we were seated immediately. One thing I really liked about this location is that it is not crowded, unlike other afternoon tea locations. Our server was Chiqui, who was a nice Filipina lady. She started joking around with us when she heard me and my cousin speak Tagalog, which made our interaction more relaxed. She remained very professional and explained the whole menu to us, including how everything would go. We were given the menu, which had a variety of different tea choices. You also get to smell the tea leaves, which were set up in the middle of the cafe. I really liked this since it gave us the opportunity to choose which one we liked. You get to choose two different teas, and we asked for their recommendation on when to serve the teas. We ordered the jasmine reserve and green tea. For our tea blends, we chose the happy and green pomegranate. All the teas were really good. We enjoyed every bit of it, and the honey, sugar, and hot water, which were easily available, made it really good. The honey was really good instead of the sugar, honestly. The small bites included were very tasty and filling. By the time we got to the scones, my cousin and I were very full and could not finish them. We ended up taking some of the food home because there was a lot of it. I enjoyed the rock lobster and crab roll the most since I love seafood. We did order prosecco (Zardetto to be exact), which was really good and smooth. We also got some spring water, which is why our bill came out to $250. Also, I believe a 20% service charge was automatically added to the bill. All in all, this was an amazing experience. Chiqui was an amazing server who had amazing training, given how her service was impeccable. Shout out to her for making this experience an amazing one. I would definitely return here. It is very relaxing, not stressful, and not overcrowded. The only thing I would say is I wish my cousin had been given a nice birthday cupcake or something to that effect. I did mention on both our reservation and when we checked in that it was her birthday, but other than that, this experience was amazing, and I would definitely come back to do this again.

3H afternoon tea set for two people

I came here for the 3H (happiness, health, harmony) Afternoon Tea, offered for the month of March. It's in the lobby bar/restaurant, which is located right when you walk in at the entrance, next to the front desk. It's a nice setting with sunlight coming in through the glass windows and doors if you sit in the main front area, with soft chairs and couches (and coffee tables) that are spaced out, plus some traditional tables here and there. A free parking lot is just off to the side of this building. The tea set comes with the usual: savories, sweets, and tea. There are special teas that represent one of the h's, or you can order one of the classic teas instead. You also get rosemary sage that you can take home and burn for a good night's sleep. The food and tea were good, though not outstanding, and service was good as well. Overall experience was a 5 but food a 4 without a standout item in my opinion, so I'll go with 4 stars since 4.5 isn't an option.

Fantastic menu and wonderful location! Very knowledgeable staff. Great recommendations on what to order. Ordered the following: 1. Cauliflower Gratin Skillet with fava beans, manchego cheese, caramelized onions, almonds, and mint pesto. So delicious. Not tasty. Very balanced in terms of spices. Wonderful consistency. 2. Cypress Grove Bermuda Triangle, Cowgirl Red Hawk, and Cypress Grove Midnight Moon. What can I say - loved these Marin-based cheese symphony!!! Delicate and flavorful! 3. Dessert: C3 with gelato! Heavenly. Very elegant and the combination complimented each other very well. Not very sweet which I like P.S They also offer a good spread of charcuterie options or even an oyster bar if you eat meat. Since this is at the Four Seasons Hotel, parking is definitely great. They usually have DJ's on Fridays but when we came the DJ was temporarily parked at the next door restaurant for some reason. Highly recommended.

I've been to [esc] a few times. I really love how minimal and well organized the interior is; the cubist chandelier, modern art (including digital projection on monitors), contemporary seating, sophisticated wine dispenser, and an elegant bar perfectly compliment each other. The food was fantastic; we had a handsome charcuterie board, delicious oysters, and colorful desserts with tiny [esc] logos on them! To drink we had the Domaine Anderson Pinot, which went well with the cheese, meat, and oysters. The service was immaculate; we were cordially greeted and timely served. The baristas were very friendly and were happy to talk to us about the menu (which is a beautiful digital interface on iPads; I'm a UI developer and was very impressed). The manager took the time to talk to us about the different types of wines and the various events hosted by [esc]. We were there in the evening and the staff looked energetic, sharp, and excited to serve! I'll definitely be back again for the space, the food, and the service!

I have been here twice, once in the morning, and once in the evening, and hope to return. The space is beautiful. Comfortable seating with outlet access for working while enjoying one of the many coffee options (they provide soy and almond milk!). The croissants were out of this world! I saw so many other fun options for juice or overnight oats that I plan on trying soon. Later on in the evening, there is a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. I came with a group and we stayed for almost 4 hours and never felt rushed to leave! We shared some wine (Domaine Anderson Pinot and Billecart Champagne), a charcuterie board, and several gorgeous tartines (pear was a group favorite), followed by some oysters and finally, some desserts that were almost too pretty to eat! The service was fantastic. Our glasses were never empty, and they shared their extensive knowledge of the menu and of other restaurants in the area! I can't wait to go back!

[ESC] just opened Fri 3/31/17 but officially I guess they're saying Sat 4/1/17. For now it's a really nice peaceful place (at least it seems on the weekend) to meet someone for coffee or a drink until the word gets out. The lobby of the Four Seasons Silicon Valley was very under-utilized before this update. I can't remember it was this spacious before. They must have knocked down some walls. Quattro is still open and a separate full service sit down restaurant.

The setting is charming and relaxed, and the live music creates a calm, enjoyable atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind and focus on the company you're with. From a purely ambiance standpoint, it's a beautiful spot. Beyond a fairly simple cheese plate, the dishes felt underwhelming and not particularly well prepared. Like many other reviews, staff are slow and not particularly attentive or warm. The wine list was fair and the bottle we enjoyed was pleasant. This feels like the kind of place you go for the atmosphere only. Where you go to sit outside, enjoy live music, and spend one-on-one time with someone you care about. If you come primarily for that and keep expectations low around food and service, you'll likely have a lovely time.

I tried the chipotle samosa, which was a fun twist on the classic Indian appetizer -- the chipotle sauce was surprisingly delicious with it. The cheese plate was also excellent with a red wine; there's nothing better than a sip of wine right after a bite of cheese. Their Gewürztraminer white wine also really stood out to me. It was a crowd favorite. Great staff and incredible ambiance -- I'd definitely come back for a group get-together or a date night.

Our bartender was great and even went off menu for some of our drinks. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Once we were seated we got some appetizers to get us started. We ordered chickpea panisse, French onion soup, goat cheese mousse, and the apple salad. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the chickpea panisse. It looked like fried tofu, but it was so delicately soft in the center. The aioli that came with it was great too. My second favorite was the goat cheese mousse. It was beautifully presented and a good balance of flavors. For main dishes, we got a variety of things. We got salmon, hanger steak, flat iron steak, and poulet roti. Everything was delicious. I think the flat iron steak was preferred over the hanger, but both were good. I thought the chicken was delicious. It seemed braised with a lot of flavor. It was a generous portion with a large salad. It was very well done. We also got a couple of sides of macaroni and cheese. Those didn't disappoint. They came in hot iron skillets and were hearty and delicious. For dessert we got the mousse au chocolat. The mousse with ice cream was a great combination. The dessert was well balanced. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff was great, the food was delicious, and the vibe was fun.

The staff were warm and nice and I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. I ordered a coke to drink and my partner had a French beer. We proceeded to order the charcuterie and french onion soup for appetizers and the duck breast and french burger for entrees. The soup came and it was fine- it tasted like french onion soup. The charcuterie never came; I guess they forgot to put the order in or forgot to make it. It was awkward just sitting there starving while my husband ate his soup though. We figured maybe they were bringing it after he finished the soup so there'd be room on the table but nope. The burger looked nice and was cooked to the ordered temp of medium rare. Otherwise it was like any other burger anywhere else, not overly special. The fries were crisp and well salted. The duck was underwhelming. It's $38 for this plate of food and it came with totally flavorless and dry mashed potatoes, whose texture was akin to boxed potatoes. No butter or cream flavor to speak of. The vegetables were so disappointing. They had no seasoning whatsoever and were as soft as baby food- I am not exaggerating on that. I was surprised by how mushy the carrots were. For almost $40 I expect more exciting veg than broccoli, cauliflower and carrots all steamed to death. The duck was okay. There was a large tendon running through the middle of every piece and I could only eat half of it due to gristly fat. The port wine reduction that covered it totally masked the flavor of the duck. All I tasted was soy sauce. We let them know about the missing charcuterie to make sure it was not included on the bill. Other small things that detracted from the experience included them never clearing any dishes from the table (like the basket from the complimentary bread, appetizer plates or the huge wine glasses that neither of us needed) and not checking in on us to see how everything was going. The table was so cluttered it was hard to eat. It took a really long time to get the check and was so uncomfortable just sitting there obviously done with our food. For the prices charged I expected a higher level of service that was blatantly absent. Overall will not return. Over priced, slow, bland food.
