Another view of the root touchup, not pretty at all

I was a new customer to the salon, I needed to get my hair done for a wedding the next day. I asked for somebody with experience in hair color. I was told that Alexandra had a lot of experience. I showed her an inspiration photo, and I quickly noticed that she was not as experienced as other stylists I have used in the past. I had to ask what method she was using and make sure she was applying the correct root color I had requested on my roots. She didn't bother to do a test on my hair like a professional usually would. In the end I was overcharged $220 and my hair color did not match the inspiration photo at all!!! She blamed the hair color on my hair and stated that next time she could try something different I had no choice, but to go to the wedding unsatisfied with my hair color results. I let her know that I needed a correction as soon as possible because I did not like the results at all! She did a color correction 2 days later that I I had no choice but to settle for because I didn't want to continue to damage my hair with more highlights, she charged me an additional $60 I don't think I should've paid to have my color corrected. I came back a third time just for a root touchup and to my surprise, she decided to go several shades darker without consulting me, or showing me any samples of what it was going to look like. She charged me $90 and she refuses to refund the money or allow another stylist to correct my hair. I can no longer trust her to do my hair. I've given her 3 opportunities and she has failed me twice! I cannot fathom the thought of coming in a fourth time when I do not trust this persons judgment. The salon owner has tried to find a resolution, and she is unwilling to admit fault and return the money.

I have been to the salon twice and Sabrina has always been so accommodating, she makes sure to ask all the little details about what im looking for and what the maintenance will be like. Sabrina is my go to for all my touch ups, balayage and lights. My hair has remained healthy and grows fast! In Mexican culture we call it "buena mano", I will continue to frequent Escape Salon for the consistent service!

Sabrina is the best!! I follow her to whichever salon she works at for years now. I first reached out to Rocco to see if he could cut my teen daughter's hair because she really needed a haircut and we were going to be leaving out of town so our schedule was tight. He responded immediately and agreed to meet at the salon THAT night at 8pm! He went above and beyond to make her feel special and not rush through the appointment. People ask me how my hair looks so healthy when it's so bleached -- the answer is decisively Grace at Escape Salon. Grace helped rescue my hair from a growing-out undercut and a multiply-bleached pink debacle this past January to a healthy, even, bright pink then and now bright blue today! Grace really cares about keeping hair healthy, and will talk through options for how to get both a good look now and a good long-term plan. I wouldn't go to anyone else at this point .

I made an appointment for a blowdry thinking it couldn't be more expensive than the Drybar... they quoted me $90 for a blowdry and after my shock, they offered me $80. Given that I was in a time crunch..I relented to let Mimi blow dry my hair. She's sweet, but my blowdry was not good. She even agreed that I "should stick with my own stylist" . I paid and got the heck outta there. read more

While I loved my blowout looked, I did not have a good experience paying for the service. It was not communicated to us that prices are different based on what the stylist wants to charge. Two services that are the exact same are charged $20 more by another stylist. My mom, who has shorter hair than me was charged $20 more for her hairstyle. We tried to talk to the hair salon staff about this but were still asked to pay the difference. I would recommend customers inquire about prices before booking a slot. read more

Sergio is magic. I literally drive down from the bay area to get a haircut from Sergio, because he's the only person I've EVER found that can do precision cuts on east Asian hair. He is so incredible and knows exactly what he is doing. If you are east Asian and you are worried about finding the right stylist, Sergio is your person. Sergio has set the bar SO high that any time I go anywhere else, I leave disappointed. read more

I went in to get a hair treatment done, I was told it was a moisturizing treatment. When I came in, my hair was in perfect condition and I had no split ends, it was really healthy and it had grown a lot. I just felt like pampering myself. I left the salon, got home, with my hair looking the dryest it's ever looked with over an inch of split ends. I spent all night crying. I went in and showed the manager, asking her what they can do. She looked at my hair and said "it wasn't that bad" and "I don't have a lot of split ends, just some". I told her "I had no split ends before I came here." She seemed annoyed with me, didn't offer me any solution or my money back for ruining my hair after months of growing it out. I had to go to another salon and pay more money to get it cut when I shouldn't of gone out in the first place. I'm heartbroken. read more

Since their move I'm not happy with the shampoo chairs at all! Back sufferers beware! They seriously have to fix this issue. Different chairs or putting the chairs at the same level as the foot stools. Something please! Pillows! read more

I was ready to free myself of the beautiful beast that was once my hair lol. It'll grow back. Anyway I came as a walk-in and Pedro was so sweet and took me. Not only that he did a great job with the cut and his assistant Shawna did a great job washing and conditioning (and staying to help). I know it seems like a simple buzz but Pedro really took his time and knew what he was doing. It was pretty pricey but he gave me exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it; hard to put a price on that. He is also a great conversationalist which is just a bonus. On top of that, Escape is a beautiful salon with a great environment. I enjoy coming to this salon and having Zendra style my hair. She installed my extensions, trimmed them into layers, and also did balayage coloring. I'm very happy with the results! She's also done my braids in the past. She can basically do anything! The decor and layout of this salon also has an upscale feel to it, but the vibe is very welcoming. Highly suggest giving this place a try if you're looking for a salon in the area. Ask for Zendra! read more

Wow! Best massage therapist I have had in a long time. Sonja A. Is awesome. She knows how to add pressure to your tolerance, And find those spots that need more help. She can use oils and stones to spice up the massage. You may be surprised how relaxed you get; maybe fall asleep (like I did). Be back again and again. Susie did my hair and she did a good job! However, I'm leaving 4 stars because I wasn't expecting the price to be so high. I've been getting my hair toned and cut for years at various places and it has never been this much. I got my highlights toned which she did in the bowl (no sectioning) and about an inch of a trim. It took under an hour and the total cost was $140. In the future, I'll definitely be sure to explicitly ask the price before agreeing to a service (which I admittedly should have done in the first place). But just a heads ups to check their prices first! read more

I got a groupon to get a brazilian done and had it done by Ginger (the coupon was for her only) so I can only say review this experience. I will NEVER go back! HORRIBLE brazilian. I have been getting waxed for decades now, and have had brazilian for ever but I have never had such a bad experience. I felt like it was her first time doing it. Even I know you have to pull horizontally or the hair gets broken...I have a very high pain tolerance but had trouble sustaining it! I even felt like leaving half way through with just half of the waxing done! As a consequence of her poor skills my hair grew back pretty fast since it had not been pulled but broken for the most part! Ginger was really nice as a person and did not make me feel uncomfortable at all but as a esthetician...I would not advise you to go! Especially if you'd have to pay full price!!!! Can't talk about other estheticians or other services at ESCAPE as this was my first and only time going there...and probably the last too! read more

I've had the worst trouble finding a solid hairdresser that I will actually go back to after the first time, but I've found the one!! I made an appointment with Liza on very short notice and she made time for me, which made a great first impression already. And when I went in to get my hair done, she did such a great job listening to what I wanted, and explaining different processes to me. She took care of me and we had great conversation the entire time! (That's also a huge priority for me, no one wants that awkward silence in the salon chair) She's so kind, accommodating, and ridiculously talented! She also does super cute braids! If you book with anyone, book with LIZA! You will not regret it. read more

My hair stylist Zendra. She is the only person I let touch my hair. She is amazing! She does amazing work. She has cut, colored, braided and weaved my hair. I send everyone I know to her. Was able to snag an appointment same day, which was really nice of them to accommodate and on top of that there was no wait. I had a haircut with Giselle and she gave me everything I could have wanted and executed it so well, I'm very happy (cut a few good inches and got some long layers into my semi curly/wavy hair). I definitely recommend seeing Giselle if you are looking for a beautiful hair cut :) also the inside of the salon was spacious, clean, and bright, and decorated very cute for Halloween. All of the staff members were welcoming and they offered refreshments too as you checked in which was nice as well. read more

Christy Gonzalez is the most Amazing Skincare Therapist I have ever met!!! Today was my second facial and she upped my game Christy is a very sweet, kind and generous person. Her time is totally devoted to her client at that moment. Her room is very serene, quite and cozy with very calming music. She explains what she is doing and what benefits you will have. Christy's touch is very light, smooth and intentional which also is very relaxing and the different scents of the products are to die for. Extensive background in Business & Marketing over a 22 year span in Medical Sales with Fortune 100 companies and 14 years in the beauty industry as owner/manager of 4 upscale Salons & Day Spas in the Los Angeles area. I obtained my MBA and Bachelor Degree in Operation management & Finance from California State Polytechnic University Pomona CA. Fell in love with the salon business immediately after getting involved in owning my first location and knew right away I wanted to recreate the whole upscale salon experience yet make it affordable and manageable for everyday people to enjoy as well. Only when the service was completely finished and I was about to be blow-dried did Irma suddenly tell me the price was now $500 because it took longer and required more product. That is not transparency. Transparency would have been informing me the moment the service was exceeding the quoted price and giving me the opportunity to approve the additional cost or even giving me a range at the beginning contingent on time/product used. Instead, I was presented with a final amount 75% higher than originally quoted after all the work was already done, leaving me with no real choice but to pay it. A quote that almost doubles without any discussion until checkout is unacceptable. Clients deserve better communication and basic respect when it comes to pricing.

Honest Review of My Experience With Diana Salcido (Color Appointment + Communication + Deposit…read morePolicy) I'm really disappointed with my experience with Diana, and I feel it's important to share so others know what to expect. I originally came to her for color and highlights. The first appointment was over $500, and while the dimension looked nice when I left, the color faded extremely quickly within just a few washes. I reached out politely to let her know, and she offered to gloss it , which I understood as simply refreshing the tone. Instead, my entire head was turned into a single dark chocolate color. All of my highlights were completely covered, my hair became several shades darker than what I originally paid for, and the dimension I loved was gone. None of this was discussed with me during the service. She didn't even fully dry my hair before I left, so I couldn't see the true result until I got home. My hair was already dry from the first appointment, and this additional processing made things worse. When I reached out to express confusion and concern, she did not take responsibility or apologize. Her responses were dismissive, and at one point she simply replied "Ok," which made it clear she didn't care about the impact the service had on my hair or how I felt as a client. It was deeply unprofessional and left me feeling unheard. Throughout all of this, I remained kind, calm, and respectful. I work in the beauty industry myself, and I believe strongly in treating clients the way I would want to be treated , with care, honesty, and accountability. When a mistake is made, it's our job to take responsibility and make it right, unless a client is being truly abusive. That wasn't the case here at all, which is why her coldness and lack of remorse were so confusing and disappointing. Weeks later, my hair is still not the same color or look I originally paid for. I had a future appointment booked, which I canceled with plenty of notice, and politely asked for my deposit back. Only then did she inform me that deposits are nonrefundable , something that was never communicated at booking. She insisted the policy had been stated, but it absolutely was not. Keeping a client's money when they cancel days in advance, especially after a service that went wrong, is not ethically or professionally acceptable. Overall, my experience with Diana showed: Lack of communication during the service No accountability when the result was not what I asked for Dismissive responses when I expressed concern No empathy or care for the health of my hair Uncommunicated policy used to keep a deposit after poor service A cold, unprofessional attitude toward a client who was nothing but kind I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was stressful, expensive, and handled with very little professionalism or integrity. I would not return and cannot recommend her based on how she treated me throughout this entire situation.

I'm sure it's to save time, but it's truly not worth messing up the structure of the nail. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves... I have a conference next week and I'm very embarrassed about these nails... (yes, they had me pay full price; mani and 2 pedis $108)

Looking for that perfect escape from bad stylists and a natural look color? Than search no further than Escape. I have had it with trying to find someone that will actually listen to what I am asking for, and ask relevant questions that will meet my personal needs. I was looking for a natural color for my hair that didn't look like all the mom and pop salons out there. I wanted a true professional job and was willing to pay for it. I found it with Rayma Brancati, the salon owner and stylist. I was immediately taken care of from my check in where I was offered numerous beverage options from coffee to wine from their beverage bar. I was then given a consultation with Rayma where she asked questions, I haven't been asked before, like how I normally wear my hair, what my future hair goals were (did I want to grow it out, cut it short, etc), and what I was looking for in my color. She did a thorough job to ensure that her and I were on the same page, looking at photos of past hair colors she had done and verified what I did or didn't like about the color variations. In a nutshell I told her I wanted it to look natural for a 50 year old mom. I wasn't trying to look younger or in style, and I wanted to have it look natural as my hair grew in, not having a high maintenance look that would require a repeat visit. She then instructed her assistants in what she was going to do and told them how by blending my color through various techniques it would make it appear that my hair was thicker and gave the appearance of something much more natural. It was worth driving down from the High Desert to finally get what I had been searching for. I was treated like a valued client and my needs were always addressed from finding comfort in the shampoo bowl with a towel for my neck to offering me anything I needed while I was there. I can tell you for a professional look you would expect a exorbitant prices to have your hair done, but I can tell you I have found my slice of paradise coming here. No matter how far I have to drive, I will definitely be back. I can't say enough about this salon, the professionals that work here and the level of service they provide. Teri is awesome! She has been doing my hair for years. I can show her a picture of hair that I like from Pinterest and she can make my hair color and cut look exactly like the photo. Sometimes I am not sure how I want my hair, and I can simply trust Teri to do her magic and she always exceeds my expectations. She truly wants you to leave the salon looking beautiful. She never has tried to cut all my hair off like most hairdressers seem to want to do. One thing that I admire about her is that she is constantly learning and improving her craft. She loves what she does and she is a true professional. She also uses high quality color, which I appreciate. If you are adventurous with your hair, she is the one to go to for dramatic and fun color. My daughter also gets her hair cut by Teri and my daughter refuses to go to anyone else. This is my favorite place to hang out! I go every 2 weeks! Sara has been doing my nails for years and does a fabulous job! I've done gels, acrylics, Jessica treatment and now I'm back to natural nails and she's trying a new treatment on me. I always feel very well taken care of! Traci has been doing my hair for a few years and is also fabulous, she puts up with me always wanting to change my style and makes me look great! Then there's Liza, she "took care of us" the day of my daughter's wedding. She did absolutely fabulous Bride's hair for my oldest daughter and the Maid of Honor was my other daughter and her hair was so amazing! They had "model" hair! It was PERFECT! She was very calm and really stood by us when we realized the veil was still at the bridal salon. She stayed much later than she'd planned to make sure the Bride was ready. I have been going to Escape Salon and Lesley for years and you simply could not ask for me from a salon or a stylist!! Lesley has a knack for understanding exactly what you want and pulls from the pictures and descriptions you give her and manages to bring the look to life in a way that is even better. Lesley also has your the best interests of your hair at heart. She is always studying and learning the newest techniques and finding the best products that not only protect but strengthen your hair and leave it feeling even better than before! The salon itself is full of great amenities, comfortable chairs and everyone who works there i just a joy to encounter. In particular Lestat, who washed my hair, was a joy to work with! I have been going to Escape for over 15 years I think?? I have been with Lesley Booth even longer! The salon itself is fantastic! They offer so many services other than just hair and nails. The salon has fresh flowers, and always offers up yummy snacks and drinks. The location is great too, near so many restaurants and shops in the Claremont area. The staff is wonderful and the salon as a whole has a very warm and inviting environment. If you have a busy life, a short trip here will rejuvenate you for sure! Lesley is a GREAT stylist! She is very easy to talk with and offers up lots of suggestions if you have hair concerns and she always makes herself available to you so easily. Over the years, I have lived over an hour away from the salon, like a great mechanic, you go where the best is because you know it's worth it! Super shady salon. Called and asked for whoever is best at cutting curly men's hair. I was given one phone number and that stylist didn't even cut men's hair. The second stylist they paired me up with was nice enough but gave me one of the worst haircuts of my life. Way shorter than asked for, the right side is way longer than the left and the back longer than both of the sides. The worst part is when I called to speak to the manger(Carli I believe) she told me there was nothing she could do and that the stylists all ran their own businesses within the salon. So it was up to me to get my refund from the stylist, which she was nice enough to do. It's a horrible business practice that they take zero responsibility for what goes on in their salon. If you are reading this and still decide to go at least swipe your credit card so you can dispute the charges if you are given a horrible haircut or dye job since management refuses to compensate or even make the situation right with another stylist. read more

Lesley Booth has always done my hair, and she has a magic touch that transforms my hair in ways that no one else-even myself-can!!! Lesley has a way of making sure her clients are comfortable, and receive the top care they want, desire, need, and deserve. She offers her expertise and gives suggestions for flattering hairstyles, colors, cuts, and products. Lesley makes sure she keeps up on the trends and the "newest and hottest" hair styles, which helps for the modern generation, and those past who want to try something new! Christy is my girl. I will follow her anywhere and have over the course of 3 years. Christy is not only the most skilled esthetician I have ever seen, but the most caring, funny and so personable. I trust everything she says and my skin has never looked better. I get complimented on it all the time..Her facials was amazing! So relaxing . She was very gentle throughout the whole process and explained everything she was doing and what she was putting on my face. I've just started going to the escape salon to see Sonja for massages and all I can say is AMAZING!! I would tell my facial lady how I really need to get a massage and I needed to get the knots out of my back. She informed me of Sonja working at the salon in massaging if I would like to try her out. Was truly the best decision, making that appointment with her. She is such a great presence and a beautiful smile that makes you feel so welcoming. I love how she asked where are my problem areas where I've been feeling any tension or any pain. Her hands are like miracle workers, once I got done with the session with her I knew I was going to continue to come back to her. I've never felt so relaxed and just so peaceful. If you're looking for someone at the salon to massage you, she is your girl and 100% hands-down amazing and love how peaceful I feel afterwards. read more

I've been going to Escape salon for about three to four years now. And as a male going to a salon it could make him feel awkward or like a fish out of water. Not at Escape. Every time I step into the door I feel comfortable and relaxed. The staff and the other stylists, not even my own, are extremely friendly and upbeat. Liza has been doing my hair these few years and since that first cut I have refused to go to any other salon and any other stylist. Every time I walk out the door I get compliments on my haircut. Everyone at my work continue to say that I never have that "I just got my haircut" look. If she can do this to a man's hair, I can't imagine how amazing women's hair looks when they leave Liza's chair. I would recommend Liza and Escape Salon to any one of my family or friends, and even to a complete stranger. read more

Christy is my girl. I will follow her anywhere and have over the course of 3 years. Christy is not only the most skilled esthetician I have ever seen, but the most caring, funny and so personable. I trust everything she says and my skin has never looked better. I get complimented on it all the time..Her facials was amazing! So relaxing . She was very gentle throughout the whole process and explained everything she was doing and what she was putting on my face. She listened to me when I voiced my concerns about my skin and what I was hoping to accomplish once I've had a few more visits. I'm really looking forward to going back!, she is most certainly a rare gem. No product up selling, that usually ruins the whole experience and was so grateful she didn't try to push anything on me. Christy Gonzalez has been taking care of my skin now for many years and I couldn't be happier. Instead of finding someone else closer ( I am in Pasadena ) I have followed her to each place she has graced, and my skin shows it. She is caring ( she has magic hands ) and well informed about her profession. And she is always eager to share info and help you in any way. she is always giving me free samples and things to take home .You can text her or call her and she will always steer you on the right path in regards to product info. I like her FB page as well. she has lots of tid bits and really great monthly specials. Love and appreciate the time she takes with me...even if I'm late from that dang 210 traffic ! read more

I now have been coming to this Salon for about 5 months now, and I am sold. I use to go to a barber most of my life and it was the wet the hair with the bottle and cut and go. My hair has turned gray early in life and I was getting the same cut everytime. Now I am a changed man, I get my hair colored and a new updated cut with a great stylist named Rayma. She uses hair color that is designed for men and gray hair. It doesnt look fake and lets the gray come back slowly, I feel it looks great. My family says I look 10 years younger. This salon is warm and friendly, I even get a served coffee, this doesnt happen at a barber shop. Thank you Rayma for my new look, you are the best. read more

Teri is a wonderful Hairstylist. She has been styling my hair for many years now and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with any of my haircuts. I have shown pictures and I have also just described what type of hair cut I wanted and she does it easily. She is both friendly and helpful. My son has also been going to her since he was three ( He is now 11) and loves her. She is always patient and kind with him. Not only me, but he is also always pleased with how she styles his hair. I also like Escape's receptionists. They have always been friendly and always offer me coffee, or other beverages, and snacks when I check in for my appointment. read more

I have been going to Liza Edwards for 8 years now, and wouldn't change anything! She is amazing and knows just how to cut my hair to make it compliment my face and style. She is also amazing at updos. I had her do my hair for my wedding day 5 years ago and have been referring her to friends and family ever since. Even though I have since moved to San Diego county, I still make the trek to Escape Salon to have Liza do my hair. Finding a good hairstylist can be tricky so I wasn't about to loose her! It is great to have a hairstylist who knows you by name, is fun to chat with, and delivers an amazing product! read more

The way Sarah Lewis does my hair has increased my confidence. I've always been super picky about who does my hair but have never found one stylist that excels with color, cut, and style--and Sarah Lewis exceeds my expectations on all three. Plus she does it not just with me but also with family and friends who have different hair issues. I'm astounded by her prowess with color and her ability to cut my hair so it's super easy to style. Escape salon is one of the most professional salons I have ever been to. They are very clean and I knew indeed that it would be well worth my money to get my hair done there. They have many services for both and female. I recently had my hair done there for prom. The stylist I go to is Lesley, she created an amazing side pony that was curled. It was very elegant and she knew exactly what i wanted. The employees are very genuine and knowledgeable, and their prices are extremely reasonable. I always feel catered when I go there I would really give this salon five stars. read more

Rayma at Escape is the best! I have never had my hair colored and was very nervous but Rayma was gentle, professional and shared with me each step as she went along. She gave helpful advise regarding the best product to use including the use of a wet brush to comb out the kinks in my hair. The finished product was AWESOME! Just in time for my birthday weekend! If you have never had a facial then it is time to get one with Christy Gonzales the Esthetician! She is amazing, the products she uses are awesome. I recently had the 24K Gold Mask facial done and it rejuventated my skin. The before and after photos are proof. my skin is glowing. Christy advises step by step as to what you are receiving. She is accommodating and makes sure you are pleased with your facial. If something does not work she is willing to work with you. Thank You Chrristy for making my skin feel young again. read more
