The review is for Makenna and her assistant Rula. I can't not say good enough things about Makenna booking with her was really easy and she was able to work with my difficult schedule. I will never trust anyone else to color my hair besides Makenna. You will see from my pictures what a transformation she was able to do. I asked for a dimensional ash blonde rooted bayalage and she gave me exactly that. The pictures do not even do it justice my hair is much more lighter than the picture portrays. She walked me through all my questions and was constantly checking on my hair under the foils. So this was my first visit to this salon and I must admit I was taken back by how beautiful it is! When you first walk in there are chandeliers, a snack station, product shelves and a friendly receptionist to greet you. Such a great ambiance. My stylist was with Michelle Martin who I was referred to from a friend. I was going in to install the latest extensions in my hair which are tape ins. I brought with me 22" Bohyme brand extensions which I purchased earlier that morning from a near by beauty supply bc I was told they were the best from another friend. Michelle was very knowledgeable and professional. She answered all of my questions and was very friendly. Plus she was a sweet heart. I will definitely be returning for her when it is touch up time. Second she had me stand up so she can trim my hair we discussed that I love my length and that I wanted a little trim (meaning) 1 inch my hair was waist length, and took a long time to grow. Tell me why she had cut my hair above my bra strap ?!?! I asked her how much did she cut and told her that she cut my hair completely off !!!! She then needed reassurance from coworkers and asked them to come "feel" my hair. I was holding back my tears as I paid for my services and left. The minute I walked out of there I asked her for a refund or partial refund because I was so UNCOMFORTABLE with my hair. She said no and that she Can give me a free shampoo ???!!!! I have been getting my hair done by Teri Johnson for almost 12 years and I feel terrible that I have not left her a well deserved review until now. I have gone dark to light back to dark, bangs (which was scary for me), short to long and I have loved every phase my hair has gone through. I don't trust anyone else with my hair and I will wait until she's available to do my hair (even when I've had to wait a couple of weeks.) She is popular! What I will say about Teri, hair for her is a passion before it is her job. Even when she has had the opportunity to make more money to perform a specific hairstyle, she will opt out of it if it means maintaining the health of your hair. It has taken me a year to get my hair light but I didn't mind the wait because she ensures your hair is still beautiful in the process. She is up front and direct with managing your expectations. If it is not going to work, if it will not suit your skin tone or if it's impossible, she will be upfront with you and let you know. How many times have we brought in a picture of a hair style we wanted, have the hair stylist enthusiastically tell us they can do it, only to find the final product isnt even close to what we wanted. I'd rather have my hair stylist, in this case, Teri, educate me on why the hair style wont suit me rather than waste my time and confidence. On the flip side, she will give you options or get it as close as possible to what your hair will allow. I respect when the expert of their field educates me on why something will or will not work. She's charismatic, warm and has an appropriate sense of humor. She's flexible with her schedule and goes out of her way to accommodate you. I highly recommend Teri!She's great with all types of hair and ages. Lola is amazing! I started coming to this salon back in December 2018 with a totally botched haircut and balayage and Lola completely transformed my hair. Believe me when I tell you she had to work miracles to make it even and to balance out the literal 50 different shades in my hair. I had a visit with her today for a trim and to go lighter with my balayage and the results have blown me away. When I first started coming here I had super brassy, orange to white to grey to brownish balayage and Lola was able to bring my hair back to life. This is my second time seeing her and I'm left speechless. She is the absolute sweetest and even though my hair took nearly 6 hours she never once rushed my hair process or made me feel like I was putting her out. Ever since Lola started doing my hair in December it's been healthy, shiny and luxurious! After a little over 4 months, I only had to cut an inch off.. that's insane! I've been to Hannah for cut/style and color twice and she is great! She squeezed my color appointment in last minute and did a great job with the purple hombre; the color lasted a good while and even when the color faded, the different shades of magenta and pink were still mixed really well to make for a really pretty fading color. Hannah's awesome, talented and always friendly. The salon itself is super clean and nee (I think it was just remodeled a couple years back?) and I was surprised at how good the prices were (cut/wash/style/first time color was $80). Very uneven color. I asked for refund or redo from top to bottom and was told by the owner. No refunds!! they could only put a toner on. I went into Escape after a not so great experience at another local high end salon. I was really impressed with the friendly staff and atmosphere at Escape. They have a very diverse clientele too which I really liked (my last salon it felt like you had to be under 25 and gorgeous to fit in). From my initial phone call to make the appointment I was impressed. The receptionist asked me many questions about my hair to make sure she booked the right amount of time. My stylist Makenna Dulin did a great job cutting my hair! I went to Makenna after seeing her pictures on Instagram. I felt like she really listened to me and what I wanted. When I left my hair looked fabulous and felt the softest it has ever felt (and my hair is probably overly processed). I waited to write the review until after I washed it a few times and it still looks great even when I style it. I am officially impressed! Summary: -Poor customer service -Seen 40 minutes late -Haircut not at all what was asked for -Do not go to Alma Vega for a Men's haircut I will preface this by saying that I worked for Apple, Inc. and am quite familiar with what goes into providing high quality customer service and how to set customer expectations. I am not writing this review on a whim. I called and made an appointment for 1:00pm on a Saturday without any difficulty. When I arrived, I was told I should be seen soon. 10 minutes passed, so I asked how much longer it should be and I was told: "Why don't you come back at 1:30." Utterly confused I decided to walk around, and came back promptly at 1:30. Apparently the magic time was 1:40 because finally--and quite unfortunately--Alma showed up. There was no indication that she had been with a client for the past half an hour, but she had been doing another hairstylists hair. Now, over 40 minutes late, I explain that I just want to get the top of my hair shortened and the back and sides cleaned up. My hair is washed, but the chair/basin combo had no sort of reclining feature--something I have NEVER experienced at any decent hair salon--so I'm practically falling out of it. If the chair did, Alma never made any move to help as I was quite clearly rather uncomfortable. My description of what I wanted for my haircut somehow translated to "high and tight", just without the electric razor. So my haircut was just under an hour long, started late to begin with, and was neither what I wanted nor what I asked for. read more

Cisko is the ONLY one I let touch my hair. He's fabulous. He does the best color I have seen and is great with cuts--and he's a steal. Everything he does grows out really well and I get so many compliments on my hair. I actually have people stop and ask me who does my hair! Ultimate endorsement: I should point out that I drive all the way from Claremont from Los Angeles because he's so good, even while living a stone's throw from the salons of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. I used to float around between rather expensive places and Cisko gives a much better cut than I have gotten from more pricey "scene" salons. I think the best endorsement I can give is actually the distance I drive to see the guy--an hour from Miracle Mile, Los Angeles (and now Ventura, where I just moved). Yes, I drive well over an hour to get my hair done, but it's worth it. And my mother drives from Santa Barbara! I know it sounds funny to bring your mother to your stylist, but he's so good at cut and color that now she won't go to anyone else either. And she gets asked where she gets her hair done, too. And for those of you seeking something off beat, he's a quick draw champion to boot. And he does braids and extensions, too for anyone looking for something a bit different. read more

Zendra is AMAZING!!! I have a decent amount of type 4 curly hair (which means my hair curls up so tight that it is about 4x as long when it's straight), and Zendra works magic! She's fast, professional, and actually talks to you about your hair. Some people are just gifted with hair talent! Do you love it when your hair is done so well that it's lighter than air and gently sways in the wind? Then you should probably give this place a call. Parking: There's some great 2hr parking spots around, plus a bunch of anytime after 5pm spots. It's free. Inside: Biggest salon I've ever been in, and it looks and smells wonderful. They offer you fresh coffee, water, and snacks while you wait. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes (which was my fault because I was late to begin with). The bathrooms are also nice! There's a drying room with magazines and a flat screen with cable. The chairs are comfy, and nothing is so worn out that it's ripping apart. read more

Adrianna has been doing my hair for almost 2 years and I have never been happier with my stylist. I'm a natural brunette with severe hair A.D.D. and never really got what I wanted when I went to other stylists. Since joining forces she has died my hair from auburn, to copper, to strawberry blonde, to cherry-red, to rose-gold, to a chocolate brown, and has now been working through various shades of blonde with me for the last few months (not to mention the various styles of ombre/balayage highlights, bangs and a-lines she's given me). She is passionate, ambitious, and super knowledgeable when it comes to style and trends which I think is key to trusting your stylist. Once you see her you'll know what I mean- she's adorable, funky, and so chic. Also helps that she's got an awesome personality and we laugh the whole time I'm there! Not only is she ALWAYS up for a challenge but she treats my hair so carefully with bleach/dye, deep conditions it, and recommends the products I need to keep it healthy and shiny between visits. Sometimes I think she is just as excited as I am for a new change, and I love that about her. I had an appt with Aavyn whose information I had received her information from a friends mother who gets her hair done by Aavyn. Her hair always looks gorgeous and the color is blended so well it looks natural, so I too decided to try her. I had just taken my Senegalese twist out and put a product in it the night before to detangle the hair a bit. However, the product paired with my damp hair made my mane a giant dreadlock! Aavyn worked with my hair DESPITE having a full schedule of clients and she detangled my hair BY HAND and sectioned it. Her assistant helped out whenever Aavyn needed to tend to another client but Aavyn always returned to check on progress or continue the detangling process herself! Not once did she make me feel bad about the giant matted mess on my head I had brought to her. She gave me great advice on products to try when I returned back to my natural texture and new about general healthy hair management. I also noticed that EVERYONE in that salon left looking amazing! In general the hairstylist that work at this Salon are really really good, from A-symetric platinum blonde bobs, to Ombre, every stylist was talented. I loved how Lestat did my hair the first time I came here. I booked an follow up appointment with him a month in advance so I could have my hair done before I leave for vacation. I showed up and he was nowhere to be found :( the front desk girls were confused as to why I was even there. I messaged him when I was on my way to the salon and just got left on read. This was two and a half months ago. His friend came to the rescue and did my hair later that day and it was fine. It was different that what I expected and different from Lestat's work but I did like it. I tried to get a follow up appointment with her recently but no luck :/ It's too bad because I liked the salon and I really liked Lestat. He's really active on Instagram and shows great work.
