I have been going to Miguel for a few years now and I'm always happy with the results! This last week I decided to go from dirty blonde with highlights (which is my usual) to a strawberry blonde/rose gold color. It isn't an easy color to get just right but I absolutely love how it turned out! I wanted it to be mostly a natural looking color with subtle pink highlights and he did an excellent job weaving them in. I love my hair! I really really REALLY wanted so badly to love this place.. Miguel is seriously the sweetest man and I loved the location.. The ambience, hospitality and openness of the salon, all beautiful! And located right across from the DOCO! I just wish I could say the same about my haircut Maybe it was my fault for not explaining properly, or maybe not enough clarification? I probably should have followed up with previous photos for reference, but I asked for the sides of my head trimmed down/faded down with a drop fade at the back of my head (v-shaped) leaving my length at the top long with a quarter inch trim towards the back, as I would be growing the top crown and about an inch below, out. Essentially blending the back of my head down to cut down the mullet I had been rocking for a few months (giving an boy cut with an undercut fade). Instead I got my right side shorter than my left side (right side about a quarter of a centimeter above my ear, with my left being about a quarter of a centimeter lower than the top of my ear) where I part my hair and back of my head looking choppy. Added to partial cut of the sides of my head with no fade with some parts having not been touched at all. I usually am really flexible at what we do with my hair and generally like to give hair artists somewhat of some freedom to do what they think best.. So much so that if an artist is not comfortable with doing a specific type of hair style, finding something that's easy for them and complimentary to me until I can find an artist who can execute what im looking for. Again, maybe I'm at fault for not better explaining what I was looking for but I hope this helps for constructive criticism of what I received read more

I was lucky to find this Salon and Miguel a couple of years ago when I moved to Sacramento. I have thick, mostly straight hair with a few waves and it has a mind of its own. So I just had my first haircut done by Miguel today. And I have to say that the reviews are so true! Miguel is a genuine and down-to-earth guy. I would totally come back the next time I need my haircut. Also a note, he recently just moved locations! You'll find his studio inside upstairs on the second floor. I hope this corona virus has kept him in town. I thought about him the other day and I pray he didn't leave. I have course l, curly, wild hair and he is the only person I've ever met than can tame my locks. I have been to many different ethnicities women and i always left feeling unhappy. Not with Miguel. I felt like singing west side story. I will never go back to anyone else. My hair has never felt so great. He also recommended I cut more off than I wanted to and I did reluctantly. Like a lot of others I care how my hair looks and I know it is difficult to find someone to cut your hair the way you want. I've been lucky in San Francisco, LA and Austin find hairstylist who cut my hair the way I like and was able to go to them for years. For the 3 years I've been in Sacramento I've been unlucky in that I've tried a number recommended stylist and the best I could do was almost acceptable. I tried Miguel four weeks ago when he was in a temporary location and it is the first time I got a good haircut in Sacramento. Miguel informed me when I have my hair cut last time that it was moving to his qown location and would be there soon. I have to say I was astonished today when I entered his new salon which is an incredible place to get your hair cut in a light filled room overlooking K St. and see and feel all the new wonderful energy there I've been able to make regular appointment and I am lucky again in regards to having a great place and a wonderful stylist to do my hair read more

Tried Miguel today after a long spell without a hair cut. Miguel gave me a thoughtful precision cut, fixed my own botched trimming, and made me feel like I was important to him. He was warm, very careful with each snip of the scissors, and gave me a new, sassy look. He especially paid attention to the fall of my salt and pepper hair to highlight the best aspects of having it show off the natural color of it.
